	I once sent my people out to go to the Royal Palace in Barcelona to see the wonderful fountains in the evening !! I did not realise that it was the evening of the 'Gay Love Parade' !!! I had 50 + elderly people come back to me the next day with their comments !! The majority said that they had never seen such sights before and were quite amused !!! One or two were quite confused as they had trusted my description of the evening and it was not quite as described ;-) :-D Was rthis how it was with you Sylvs ?? Dea Xxx

	Renes ............... The Rockies are glorious. Jasper is much nicer than Banff .................... High tourist season is horrible! That's partly the tourists themselves ........... tourists from hell are far from uncommon but the other problem is that everyone jacks up their prices in from about mid-July to mid-September. The scenery is even more fabulous in June,September/October, or in the winter On previous summer visits to the Rockies, we camped in tents, and there is a different mentality among campers. It's the hotel situation that has shocked me, and made me determined to not repeat if at all possible. Tourists are almost always taken advantage of ........... after all the tourist season is short, and money must be made by the hoteliers, restaurants etc. Even the train does it ..................... the price in the summer and from about Dec 20 to 26 and Dec 31 to Jan 4 is almost double what we usually pay in the rest of the winter. We try to start our trips to see J before Dec 18, and start the return journey around Dec 27, and luckily for us, the prices revert to the usual winter rates on those dates.

	Dea A few years ago, I was giving advice at a conference on "things to do in Vancouver", using walking or public transit, and free or not very expensive. One middle-aged couple from middle America ................. where people tend to be VERY conservative ................ came and asked for advice. They then said "what about the Gay Pride Parade? We thought we might like to go watch it" Now this was a period when it could get very raunchy, with most of the spectators also being gay. I told this couple where to go .................... they came back later just raving about what a good time they had had, how great the Parade was, etc Just shows, you can't second guess people!! Same conference, a lady in her 40s came for advice. I told her several places she might enjoy, and then said something along the lines of "the best coffee in Vancouver can be found in this area". She sounded interested, so I told her how to get there, but then added the caveat that this was not only the Italian part of town but also the lesbian area of town, and she might be surprised. She broke into a big smile, said "How wonderful. I'm here with my partner, and it will be so wonderful to be able to be open."

	The estimate for today's Parade is that as many as 600,000 spectators will be down there ........ ........... and, yes, most of them will be tourists, and most of them will not be gay!

	Renes ............ even the gas (petrol) prices go up here :-\| We usually hunker down in the summer months, keep away from the main areas of Vancouver. This was why the cabin was so good ............... we could get away, and yet avoid crowds. At least we can now reserve for the car on the ferries to the Island, if we want to go and see our friends ....................... otherwise you can be waiting in your car for 3 or 4 hours (or 2 or 3 ferries!). They even limit walk-on passengers at times, because of the limit put on number of passengers and cars by the Coastguard.

	Oh I have always wanted to visit the Rockies. Am I correct in thinking that you can do a train tour through them. One day, one day I live in hope :-)

	Morning all, Sylvia sounds gorgeous...I have always wanted to go to Canada..one day :) Maybe we will get to Europe again in a couple of years (that's the plan anyway) before Gracie gets a bit older and would miss too much school. Hope everyone is well, cold, wet and Winter here in Melbourne today :-) we did see the sun on Saturday for about two minutes OH is home with the man-flu that he has suffered from all weekend, mind you would he listen to me and to to bed, no, would he take anything for the headache and the sneezing, nope (until he got so bad he admitted defeat)!!! Stubborn male :-P

	Good morning...... :-D Thank you Dea......I arrived just in time for your lovely porridge :-D It's wet here too Gins.........I think nearly everywhere is getting the rain today though. One of our phone handsets has stopped working - changed the batteries etc etc. but it's still not playing :-( Looks like we will have to nip out and get another. Two appointments for OH today - Health Trainer this morning and monthly visit to GP this afternoon..........ain't life fun???? :-D Going for a browse........................

	Researching: Don't put off until tomorrow doing what you can do today. If you like doing it today you can do it again tomorrow. Be kind to your children for it is they who will decide which care home you end up in.

	Hello everyone, Dull but so far dry so hoping to get the washing out. Gracie hope you survive the "man flu" ;-) I got a reply from the member who I was hoping was a match for my ggrandad. She doesn't think she is but I am sure I recognise the Mothers name now I will have to search my notes cos it's bugging me :-)
