HI all, hope everyone is well.

Had a bad start to the day, driving to work in the pouring rain, and a young girl in a car in front of me panicked when the traffic lights went out and so just stopped her car - in the middle lane of a really busy road mind you. It was so wet and greasy my car just slid went I braked and bang...

She did not understand English which made it harder then got in her car and drove off without giving me all her info...sigh,,,then as my partner arrives and I get out of my car to get him to move it, some really big random guy pushes me out of the way and gets in my car. I was so surprised I asked him what he was doing my partner was here to look at the car..he then went of his nut swearing and cursing...

Thank goodness I was not on my own then.

Cam home and am working here today as now have no car to get to work as OH was supposed to be on a course today (I made him late to that as well) not much luck this morning I tell you!

LOL last night not sure if because I did not feel well, I kept having bad dreams about threads on the Living Relatives board...weird!

:-P to Friday! Roll on the weekend

Oh dear Grace - you ARE having a bad time !! :-( - I have put the kettle on and will make you a nice hot cup of tea to make you feel better! :-)

I have also made some porridge which you can share with Cynthia, and there is bacon nearly ready and sausages, eggs and some tasty fried bread to munch on.

Mushrooms and tomatoes are under the grill.............

There is nothing like a nice big breakfast to cheer you up in the mornings <3 <3 <3

Hope everyone has a good day.....

Not all bad news then Rach. At least if the driver of the car you hit drove off before completing the exchange of details it doesn't sound as if it was a scam.

Here in the UK over the past few years there has been an epidemic of scammers who deliberately brake or stop suddenly so that the driver behind has little or no chance of not hitting them. Most crashes are at low speed so no major vehicle damage or injury is caused but the scammer them claims significant vehicle damage and personal injury such as whiplash via iffy claims companies. Often rather than argue insurance companies pay out.

My wife got caught out a couple of years ago. She was driving my Jeep on a clear dual carriage way when the car in front of her suddenly braked for no obvious reason. She braked but was unable to stop before running into him. She estimates that she was travelling at no more than 5-10 MPH when the vehicles collided. She and my No2 son who was with her both say that after they pulled to the side of the road to exchange details there was minimal damage to the bumper of the other vehicle and when asked its 3 occupants all said that they were uninjured. There was no damage whatsoever or indeed a single mark on the front of my Jeep. A couple of days later I had a call from a claim company saying that their "Clients" had sustained significant personal injuries in the collision so would I confirm my insurance details.

Smelling a rat I contacted my insurers advising them of a probable scam and asked them to send a damage assessor to inspect my vehicle to confirm the lack of damage to it. This they did and the assessor took a series of photos to prove it. It all went quiet but when my insurance renewal came I noticed that the proposal mentioned an accident and as I had not made a claim or had been notified of the outcome of the fraudulent one I contacted my insurance company to enquire what their records showed. It turned out that despite my notifying them of it being a scam and their assessor providing them with photographs of my undamaged vehicle my insurers had paid out almost £10,000 to the scammers without even notifying me.

I was not a happy chappy but I was grateful that I had a protected no claims bonus so at least I was not being asked to pay a higher premium as a result of my insurers decision not to reject the fraudulent claim.

Good morning everyone <3

Dea, thank you for breakfast and I am more than happy to share my porridge with poor Gracie <3

That's an awful thing to happen Gracie - you must have been so scared as well - am sending some (((hugs))) to help you through the day.

Jonesey is quite right about the motoring scams which happen regularly. My son is a litigator for a firm of solicitors and deals with this, day in and day out. He has told us of some of the ways these 'accidents' are planned and, you often find that they are grouped in certain areas of the country.

He often goes to court on behalf of a client and, only recently, won a very large case despite the opposition having an experienced barrister. Must remember to send Jonesey his details :-D :-D :-D

Grey and cool today but, never mind, we can't have sunshine all of the time... :-)

Oh Gracie you are having a time of it glad that your partner was with you and glad that you weren't hurt <3

Just a thought as she took off suddenly could she have been an illegal immigrant?

Jonesey I wouldn't be a happy bunny either :-)

Physio has asked for a slipper that is more "supportive" has to have good grip and be open toed and Velcro fastening. Have googled and am now going into town to get a pair of Padder slippers.

Then home housework, dinner and then pick up F-I-L and hospital visiting.

we are babysitting tomorrow night so just a quiet weekend :-D

Fairly busy this morning - lunch and then took daughter to a garden centre. I have been sitting down since 4pm so that is a luxury!! :-D :-D

OH's auntie died this morning so I've been altering the family tree. We haven't seen her for a long time and it's strange to think of someone of 76 still having an aunt!!!

Have been looking at an old lady's wedding album today. She is now 91 and was married in 1948. Brilliant photos, and there are even shots of the wedding reception complete with the long rows of trestle tables bearing the traditional wedding fayre of boiled ham salad followed by trifle. All the guests are turning round to look at the camera. Fabulous. :-D

Gee

Gee Report 9 Aug 2013 18:35

That sounds nice Cyns...

Our wedding was a 'team' effort, everyone had a part in the wedding, which is some go, with the amount of family and friends we had join us

Good time had by all, lots of hugs, laughs and no fights

OOOerrr!!!

I think that our summer is about over !!!

I felt a distinct change in the weather this afternoon when the wind got up and, looking at various weather sites, it looks as if I am right !!

Well, it was nice while it lasted, as they say! (even though it was a bit too hot for me!) ;-) :-D :-D

it has been sunny since las Satruday, and the temps have been slowly climbing.

We took our visitor down to the ferry terminal this morning ........... she's gone over to the Island for a long weekend with friends.

She returns to us on Tuesday the 13th for a couple of days, then meets up with a friend flying in from NZ, and they do their own thing for a couple of weeks.

They might stay with us the night before they leave for home at the end of the month, and she will leave stuff she doesn't need here until then.

It's been fun, she's a lovely lady, in her early to mid-50s ................ but sooooooooooo busy.

I'll be glad of a rest :-D

SylviaInCanada Report 9 Aug 2013 21:26

It's because they are taking off on their own that I was able to book our trip up north so OH can spend his 75th birthday with his sister.

We fly up on the 16th, stay a week, then take the trains back home from Aug 23-26.

One train goes form sil's home town to Jasper, with an overnight stay in a hotel.

One night in Jasper

then an overnight train down to here.
