We certainly had some rain this morning and then it cleared up this afternoon...... :-D

The usual busy morning followed by a quiet afternoon.....just the ticket.

I have been very naughty and have just eaten about 6 fig roll biscuits.....very scrummy they were too...... ;-)

I think our Sylvs is due back this week - it will be good to have her back again....

Gee Report 27 Jan 2014 06:12

I like fig rolls too :-D

Mornin all~~~~~

Well, we had an odd night. The house alarm decided to go off in the middle of the night, I wouldn't mind but we hadn't set it :-S

Then I had a dream and JB woke me up from my screaming

Kettle is on..................

Cynthia

Cynthia Report 27 Jan 2014 08:34

Morning all..... :-D

Thanks for putting the kettle on Gins.......

Breakfast is now served:

Bacon barm cakes with a choice of mushroom or tomato

Eggy bread

Toasted crumpets

Warmed croissants

Cereals of all types

Plenty of toast with all the usual trimmings

Coffee is made and the tea is brewing......don't be too long or it will be stewing!!

Caught a brief glimpse of Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr together on the news this morning. Brought back some golden oldie memories!!

I image our dear Jonesey must go all nostalgic when he hears Bing Crosby's voice... :-D :-D :-D :-D >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Cyn,

Cheeky, although I do remember Bing Crosby it was not he that captivated my musical attention during my youth. I was more of a Tommy Steele and Elvis fan. I saw the Beatles perform live on two occasions. I say saw because the audience couldn't hear them above the screaming of hoards of young girls wetting themselves at the sight of John, Paul, George and Ringo on the stage. Perhaps you were one of those girls Cyn. ;-)

People often queued overnight in order to be able to buy a ticket for one of their performances but I boxed clever. I paid a chap that I knew to spend the night on the pavement to get me my ticket whilst I spent the night tucked up with his girlfriend.;-) Sadly I wasn't always the Mr Nice Guy that you know today. :-D

Changing the subject I thought the alien invasion had started yesterday. From my lounge window I get a good view of the sky over the Sandwell valley. At about teatime yesterday there suddenly appeared lots of red lights in the sky in the West. I am quite used to seeing planes in the sky and these were most definitely not planes. They were moving quite rapidly towards the East seemingly in groups of 3 or 4. At that stage I had not got a clue what they were, were they UFO's? As they got closer I noticed that they also had a yellow light that seemed to flicker on their undersides. It was only when they passed almost directly above me that I realised that they were Chinese lanterns, panic over. Presumably they had been released by ex-pat Chinese celebrating the Lantern Festival. This country certainly now has lots of different cultural celebrations to keep up with so it looks like this is another to add to the growing list.:-S

When I was at school in Liverpool and the Beatles were becoming famous, I can remember some of my schoolfriends 'bunking off' the odd afternoon lessons in order to get ready to go and see them at the cavern. When I was working, I used to walk past the Cavern most lunchtimes on my way into town.

Those were the days......................... especially for Jonesey.... ;-) Tuts.

Gins

We have been paying for an anti virus because when we had one of the free ones we got "hacked" .

It cost us more to have the laptop fixed than it costs to buy the anti virus ( I get it at half price )

Have spent all day clearing out and doing housework just having a cuppa then going to do some more :-)

Gee

Gee Report 27 Jan 2014 16:25

You were unlucky to get hacked Linds :-(

Didn't one of those Chinese lanterns cause a fire a few months ago?

Jonesey

Jonesey Report 27 Jan 2014 16:55

Yes Gin,

One was responsible for a fire which destroyed a paper/cardboard recycling facility. The lantern descending on to the site was caught on camera by the sites security CCTV system.

Gee

Good morning all and thanks for the breakfast Gins... :-D

Haven't those Chinese lanterns been banned in some places? I've heard reports of them causing damage to property and livestock.......did I dream it? :-S

OH is off for a haircut this morning - that gives me time for a quick wander around town on my own. Notalot but it's something I rarely get.......alone time. Not complaining...just saying. :-D

See you later...~~~

Dea

Dea Report 28 Jan 2014 15:21

Well, my lovely 26 year old car has just 'sailed through' it's latest MOT so that's £25 well spent for another year of happy motoring.......... :-D :-D

Grand-children will be pleased as they would be devastated if I had to get rid of it (and so would I ;-) ). - Grand-daughter, when she was smaller, used to chant 'grannies car sounds like a motorbike' whenever she was in it and, because it sounds a little 'throaty' grandson is convinced that it goes faster than anyone elses ;-), just like a sports car :-D :-D. They both love it.

Hope you are all having a good day too.

Dea,
.
Your car is one of only 68 of that model still licensed for use on the road in the UK. There are also 26 retained on SORN.
