Nain is a GOGLAND word and not for me..,Mamgu is our word here in West Wales for grandma so if I had been able to convince my son at the time it would HAVE to have been Mamgu. I would really prefer just my name..Viv..Which is what my sons call me as I did not want to be mum or Mummy(although 2 of them do call me Mother sometimes)but he would not have it. So it was the compromise we came to. Although he did ask what I wanted grandson to call me and when I said Mamgu or Viv he should have gone with Mamgu in my opinion..But its not worth the aggro.. So GrannyViv I am to all now.
Read about a Grandchild that called his grandma ..Me me...As she was always saying to him as a toddler "Come to Me me" and he thought that was her name..So it stuck...Nice I thought.

sigh, sigh, sigh
oh dear, oh dear
Debbie has posted another thread about 90 minutes ago, on Tips ......... re-hashing the stuff from last night.
I found myself forced to post a response as she accused janey of doing 2 things that she had not done ................. I had posted the things. Not fair to heap yet more on Janey's head. I was also accused of being a liar again
But she did say one thing towards the end of the posting that was very revealing ............... along the lines of one can't see Asperger's but she takes things literally.
That probably explains why she just could not see how revealing names other than the actual board name was just as much about revealing personal information as it would be if you psosed birth date, SIN number or home address.
All I can do is hope that the thread has gone by the time Janey appears on the scene ......... I did suggest that Debbie herself remove it, but don't think that will get anywhere.

Took a look at the thread because of the mention of Asperger's syndrome. As you all know, this is something I have been dealing with for over 40 years so I have more than a little knowledge of how things work with these folk.
My daughter frequently gets 'the wrong end of the stick' because she has not grasped the language used in some conversations. She has probs with jokes, sarcasm and tv adverts and often asks me to explain them to her. She does not have learning difficulties and is an avid reader - it's her lifeskills which let her down. Here is a brief explanation from the NAS site.
"People with Asperger syndrome sometimes find it difficult to express themselves emotionally and socially. For example, they may:
have difficulty understanding gestures, facial expressions or tone of voice;
have difficulty knowing when to start or end a conversation and choosing topics to talk about use complex words and phrases but may not fully understand what they mean;
be very literal in what they say and can have difficulty understanding jokes, metaphor and sarcasm.
For example, a person with Asperger syndrome may be confused by the phrase 'That's cool' when people use it to say something is good.
In order to help a person with Asperger syndrome understand you, keep your sentences short - be clear and concise."
Another thing is their inability to communcate and have social interaction - hence many of them end up as extremely lonely, friendless people.
I'm pleased our Sylvs has recognised the problem and hope that Debbie deletes but, 'Aspies' can also be very tenacious!!
Just thought I would add that two'pennorth worth before I go for my shower :))

You cant argue with yourself so I wouldnt respond at all to that thread!

I will have you know Ginny that I was here VERY early this morning and had 'my' lovely breakfast but then had to dash off !!
Sylvia always prepares me some on a 'late brunch' day and leaves it in a special hidey place for me - she knows I can't wait until later !
She is a LOVELY lady isn't she?

A serious question now please........
I am trying to help my little grand-daughter with her homework and need to know the 'proper' terminology for those silly sentences you make up in order to remember how to spell words. e.g
BECAUSE = Big Elephants Can Always Understand Small Elephants.
Hope someone knows what I mean.
Thanks,
Dea x
