I've often thought that eulogies and "memorials" ought to be held before someone dies, so that they can hear what people think of them

we've been to so many recently (being of "that" age when more and more friends and acquaintances die), where the person has been lauded to high heaven

I often wonder if anyone, even the family, had said such things to him / her before they died?

I agree Sylv

Tell people how you feel about them all the time

My eldest bro hates it....I hug and love him all the time...ha ha ha

Last night he was round here with the gang and said 'youre sooo touchy feely Gin'

Then he gave me a hug ;)

SylviaInCanada

SylviaInCanada Report 16 Jan 2011 20:31

nice Gins!

OH and I almost always end phone calls with "I love you", even short calls such as "I'm leaving now, see you at the coffee shop"

Always end calls with daughter same way

One of my Australian cousins (80+) heard me once and said that they did the same, as a reaction against their parents who almost never said I love you or hugged or kisssed, themselves OR the children.

I knew my parents loved us .... but they weren't touchy feely.

OH isn't very touchy feely though!

well, that was an interesting evening!

all set for a peaceful time on here, and OH on his computer downstairs, when the power suddenly went out and we were in almost pitch blackness ........... which meant the street lights had also gone out.

Found the torch (I have one in almost every room), then found the candles, and lit a few, while OH phoned the electricity hot line

hmmmmmmmmm

"we know there is an outage in your area. Power should be resumed by 11 pm Monday January 17"

hmmmmmmmmmm

OH went for a walk to see how many people were affected ......... a rectangular block of something like 50 houses.

I lit more candles

found my headlight, and we settled down to reading by candlelight

also made some plans for getting hot water for tea (camp stove), or visiting the local Starbucks

power came back on about 8:50 pm

and we then had to spend nearly an hour setting all the clocks, microwaves, answer machines, tv etc etc etc

at least the computer didn't need re-setting!
