Thank you most kindly for that info R...
I had to give up last night...Was too tired and ratty to carry on..

Will take myself to investigate..

Yes they had a daughter Jane on 1841 and 1851 census, their last child as Daniel is not on it and Elizabeth actually has Widow written beside her on 1841,but then it has been struck through as that sort of info was not required then was it...Cant find his death yet but now have a good idea of about when and where.

So thanks again R..

Today's words of wisdom

A farmer stopped at the hardware store and bought a bucket and a gallon of paint. He then picked up a couple of chickens and a goose.

He was scratching his head trying to figure how to carry his entire purchases home when he was approached by a little old lady who asked him, "Can you tell me how to get to 1603 Mockingbird Lane?" The farmer said, "Well, as a matter of fact, my farm is very close to that house. I would walk you there, but I can't carry this lot."

The old lady suggested, "Why don't you put the can of paint in the bucket. Carry the bucket in one hand, put a chicken under each arm and carry the goose in your other hand?"

"Why, thank you he said, and proceeded to walk her home. On the way he says, "Let's take a short cut and go down this alley. We'll be there in no time."

She looked him over cautiously then said, " How do I know that when we get in the alley you won't hold me up against the wall, pull up my skirt, and take advantage of me.

The farmer said, "Holy smokes lady! I'm carrying a bucket, a gallon of paint, two chickens and a goose. How in the world could I possibly hold you up against the wall and do that?"

The old lady replied, "Set the goose down, cover him with the bucket, put the paint on top of the bucket, and I'll hold the chickens...."

FBG -- I'm still catching up so someone may have said already, but here you go for the IY:

http://www.britishmedals.us/files/iys.htm

Change the "s" in "iys" to whatever surname letter you want. For instance, Mr McCock is on

http://www.britishmedals.us/files/iym.htm

The general site of Kevin Asplin's is

http://www.britishmedals.us

JaneyCanuck Report 15 Mar 2011 18:10

Still catching up, and I see C did give the link.

That's only for the IY. If the person was regular army, they won't be on that list, and I don't think there is a list for them. But you can use the search box at the Asplin site to look for the surname in anything there.

re the error messages

There's been a crop of them lately, hence my post on the wall.

"we're working on it", yeah, blah blah blah.

Inspector Green Thumb of course suggests we should all fix our computers and ourselves on that recent thread on chat.

It has NOTHING to do with us or our computers. It's not a 404 error, it's a message from THIS website. And there are just too many instances of it, and it's beyond unacceptable!!
