Happy Birthday Pat, they say Birthdays are good for you, the more you have the longer you live.
Hope everyone has a good day, I'm back to he nurse at 12.30 with the blood pressure machine that does'nt work.

We get a village magazine here, called DODDINGTON'S DOING'S, and in it this month it gives exercise advice and this is what it says.

Begin by standing on a comfortable surface, where you have plenty of room at each side.

With a 5lb potato bag in each hand, extend your arms straight out from your sides and hold them there as long as you can.
Try to reach a full minute then relax.

Each day you'll find that you can hold this position for just a bit longer.
After a couple of weeks, move up to 10lb potato bags.

Then try 50lb potato bags and then eventually try to get to where you can lift a 100lb potato bag in each hand and hold your arms straight for more than a minute.

After you feel confident at that level, you can start putting a potato in each bag.

:-D

Make sure you pamper yourself today Pat, it's the only time in your life you'll be that age.

Hope you're feeling a bit better today Marilyn.

Linda, did you actually go to bed? Hope you have a lovely day out.

Mo, thanks for the photo............... what lovely babies, you must be so proud. I think it's a bit greedy having 2 though, you should really give one to me............ I'll have Lilly - she's just at a nice age now.

Stephen, if Marilyn isn't any better - your services may be required.

Dermot

Dermot Report 15 Jun 2011 13:19

The world has never had so much wealth, power & ability to solve the many global problems of humankind.

These are man-made problems - hunger, disease, disasters, wars & all the sufferings that flow from such conflicts. They are exacerbated because of the primitive, baser urges of both individuals & groups with their greed, selfishness, vice & depravity of the spirit.

The uncaring, irresponsible, rich & powerful are driven by ambitions to retain & extend their wealth, power & control over sources of minerals, raw materials & especially the people.

Human suffering is not an accident. It is the result of the few, the oligarchy, dominating the many by manipulating political power for their own ends & disguising their motives as being in the national interest & national security. That's a laugh!

We are really ignorant of the causes of poverty & world hunger despite the power of global media. It is not always the lack of resources & food but the inequality in their distribution which causes most poverty.

When violence & injustice are allowed to grow unchecked, as evidenced in Libya for example, then tyrants & genocidal leaders emerge ending hopes of peace resulting in mayhem & slaughter.

GRMarilyn Report 15 Jun 2011 13:34

Dermot.

I totally agree with you.....this world is a mess.

All money's that is collected NEVER seem to go to the right people.

Take this Ugandan President ( Musseveni) got his £30 million JET on money given to his country from UK & European Union. Although I did read that he received this money under the labour government between 2008-9
That cant be right !!!!!!! hope this government sees sense and stops this money from going into the wrong hands, the poor MUST be fed & clothed but how can we do that ... without going into the wrong hands ??????

MissFitz

MissFitz Report 15 Jun 2011 14:37

you are so right Dermot and Marilyn.
I often wonder why other countries never try to get these dictators like mugabe out, they seem to get away with everything, they are just as bad as saddam, but they are left alone

WATER,

What a lot of problems would be solved if many of the 'underdeveloped,'
Nations had access to that.

Desalination Plants to convert Sea Water to Fresh Water built around the Coastlines and the water pumped to where it is needed.

They can pump Oil from Alaska for the greedy West. Why not water to the thirsty Nations?..

BECAUSE then they would become stronger and not need to rely on the help of others. The tables would soon turn in their favour.

GREED........POWER........The curse of Humankind.

Off the Soapbox.
