I,m back!!!!

I had an email from GR about Shirl's account and they have now found it and are going to email her about it. It seems that I must have sent them the right info as to the post she made in October.

I have sent her the email I received and she is now waiting to hear from them.

Hooray we may get our Shirl back soon now.

Hi all

What a rush this morning, I woke up at 7.55am and noticed OH was still asleep, OH NO hubby had overslept, he should of been in work at 8am. So you can imagine the chaos, OH getting ready for work and grabbing a quick cup of tea while I rang his work to explain he was going to be late.

OH came in from work last night and said he didn't feel very well, he had a sore throat and a cough, so when he went to bed he forgot to put the alarm on. When I rang his works for him and told them what had happened, they were very understanding and said these things happen. OH has never been late for work or had time off work through illness ever, apart from when he had chicken pox which was over 20 years ago. I think he'd of been about 25 minutes late which isn't to bad I suppose, but he wasn't very happy with himself, bless him.

So that's my news so far today. OH was grateful of the cake I made yesterday, he said it helped his throat. I didn't know he was ill until he came home last night and told me he'd been up most of the night, so know wonder he overslept today.

Going to wash the bedding now and get on with some other bits of housework before OH get's home from work, he finishes at 2pm today.

Morning all and evening Kim,

O dear Gill that won't make him a happy bunny for the rest of the day now knowing he has blotted his copy book with a late appearance at work. He must have felt pretty rotten to have over slept like that.

Dull old day here but dry. Oh is having some test at the docs or results of a test he had last week.

I can't tell whether is it a bit misty out or if my windows need a clean!! :-( :-( :-(

He's back better make him a coffee :-D

Frank Report 22 Jan 2015 10:27

Morning my lovelies, Evening Kim,

Glad you enjoyed the lunch and Film Jane. I must try to get to the Cinema now and again. My biggest trouble is the NOISE from all these previews and adverts. It sends my brain haywire. The television adverts always seem louder than the programmes. That's why I MUTE them ;-) ;-) ;-) WHY DO THEY DO IT ???

I had my thermostat for the temp. in the rooms pack up this morning. While talking with Conrad on Skype, he looked on you tube and found that the batteries needed changing. I DIDN'T KNOW IT HAD BATTERIES" They have never been changed since it was installed 15 years ago. So if the new ones last as long I will be over NINETY when they need changing again :-D :-D :-D :-D

That is horrible when you oversleep, it messes up the whole day, it's nice that the nursing home were understanding.

Glad our Shirl. is getting sorted. I will be able to INSULT her again, rather than by email <3 <3 <3 <3 We do enjoy our little banter. !!!

I only have lemon and honey with a drop of whiskey. NO TABLETS.

The sky looks full of something again this morning. Very cloudy and cold.

I have noticed the bottom of one of the bird box's has fallen off. I must get that sorted, or if they decide to use it, everything will fall through the bottom :-( :-( :-(

Time for my shower, and get dressed. See you all soon.

Hope OH tests were O.K. Mel.

Maureen Report 22 Jan 2015 14:30

Lovely bright sunny day here but very cold.

I have an allergic reaction to Nu**fen Mandy, my lips swell and the inside of my mouth blisters so it could have been that, Dr's don't know everything, no offence to Chris Jane. Your son and DIL will be exhausted and it's so difficult to keep the children away from the new baby, I know with Finley he wanted to kiss Bella all the time.

My goodness Ann, you and my brother would make a formidable pair, sounds like you've got a really good deal, must make sure I take my brother with me if/when I get a new car. I think attitude and manners have changed Frank since you were working. You would think the salespeople would know exactly what they can offer instead of having to go to their manager every five minutes to okay things.

I shall be home this weekend so will get really stuck in with the decorating, don't know where I will put all the furniture that will come out of my bedroom, I hate it when the house is in a mess.

Shall look forward to seeing Shirl. back on the thread, although we do e.mail regularly.

The sun came out here this morningbut as Maureen said it is so cold out and no breeze. Oh went out the back door after lunch and said look how is in the orchard. It was one of the big hens scratching around with the bantams. I went out and she followed me back to the pen and I threw some bread in and in she went. When I looked round the netting there were 5 holes in it bitten through by the blasted rabbits. Off to the shed for a ball of string and sissors and back to the netting where Clara Cluck just walked back through the fencing again to join me on the outside. I tied up two holes on the end and went round by the gate and tied another and while I was doing that and the rest of them were pecking at my wekkies through the wire two more popped out of the next hole in the netting. when I had tied up the 5 holes the girls followed me to the gate and I opened it and walked in and they followed and I quickly whipped back out again. What a pain in the ar*e the rabbits are. They have most of the field to eat so why do they want to get into the chicked run to eat in there as the grass outside is much better.

Afternoon All
Well that will be good to have our Shirl back on board again :-D :-D.Hopefully it won't be too long now.

Oh Gill.I hope your OH isn't feeling ill at work today.I remember a couple of times when Chris overslept .It really mucks you up :-S.Good job work was understanding this morning :-D
No offence taken at all Maureen...You are quite right Drs don't know everything :-D
There have been several times when Hannah and James had an injury..Chris said it was most likely a bad sprain or something .HUH !!! James actually had a broken ankle and Hannah a broken thumb :-S :-S.Both times it was me who decided to take them for X-rays and they both came home in Plaster !!! Never trust a doctor LOL

Mel what a nuisance with those Rabbits chewing through the wire.Touch wood i haven't seen a rabbit in the garden for months now.......It's rats instead :-| :-|
The Rat Stations are in place now so hopefully we will be shot of them soon.
Chris bought what he thought were the boxes but he had picked up the wrong thing (just big boxes of poison) so i had to go back and change them this morning.
I had the last 2 Rat Stations off the shelf. The lady on the till said that they have been selling loads and loads of Rat and Mouse killer this season.Far more than usual.

Maureen .It is a job to know where to put furniture when you are decorating. But I suppose with it just being you in the house it might be easier as it won't get in the way of anyone else. You can just shove it where you want :-D

The Pets Wild at heart last night was brilliant :-D.I think I smiled stupidly all the way through it...The Hamsters I think made me laugh most. And that Budgie !!!what a chatterbox.I had heard of Cat Island before but never the Rabbit one.

I dreamt last night that I was haggling over the price of a Renault Captur LOL It must have been your post Ann :-D.Actually when I change my car it will just me who goes to do it.I have been a little successful in the past with badgering for a few extras etc :-D
Then I come home and James would say "is that all you managed,I could have done a lot better than that" !!!.....I don't think Chris would even think about trying to beat them down on anything :-S....Sometimes us girls are a bit more ball** :-D :-D

I can't believe how cold it is now.I didn't think it was too bad earlier. But it is flipping freezing now.

Jane Report 22 Jan 2015 17:12

Frank .I really think if you fancy going to the Cinema that you should try the Errol Flynn .Wednesdays is 'Silver Screen day' so cheaper .But they don't have any loud adverts or loud music. It's very civilised :-D.It is attached to the Derngate theatre(at the back).Nice bar where you can get a coffee/tea /alcohol and drink it while you watch the film.Comfy leather seats with loads of leg room. It's worth giving it a go.

Fancy your thermostat having batteries.I don't think ours does. But how lucky having Skype and Conrad being able to let you know the problem :-D

James went to see Johnny's Mum last night(Johnny the friend who died) .and she has got herself a little dog :-D.A lovely King Charles Spaniel (5 yrs old) called Jess !!!
I hope that this will help her in her recovery of the shock of losing Johnny.James said she is a sweet little dog :-D

That will be a nice bit of company for her Jane and something to look after and give her a purpose in life again.

It's bl**dy cold here too. I just shut the chickens in and my hands were numb when I got back to the house.

We had a bigger deer walk across the garden this afternoon. I think they think is it their private road to the fields.

Frank Report 22 Jan 2015 18:02

Well even with the new batteries the Stat isn't working. I have had my plumber chap from round the corner here for two hours. He has adjusted the boiler temp. so it will stay warm. I just hope I can live with it until the new one arrives. It is so HOT. I am down to my next to nothings, and still boiling

Been playing cards on my Kindle and forgot all about dinner. So the meat has only just gone in the oven. So late LATE dinner tonight.

That will be so nice for Johnny's mum to have a dog, the King Charles are such a sweet little dog.

Mel, I can just see you running around like a "Blue ars#d fly" trying to patch up the holes with the "girls" following you around.

Maureen, can't you just put everything in the middle of the room, and work around the furniture ??

I am available at a large fee JOKE to come and haggle a deal for you, when you change your cars. I know it's difficult for the dealers, the Manufactures have reduced all the margins on new cars. It was the dealers own fault they would try to out do each other with big discounts. They use to get 17% from base price. The last time I was in the trade it was down to 10% But still some dealers were offering 7 or 8% to Joe Blogs public, and 9% to the business users. So how they made a living I will never know. From what was left. They had to do a Pre Delivery Inspection, and put petrol in the car. What with wages rates etc. It was no wonder some went to the wall.

It certainly has turned cold. I put my nose outside earlier, and nearly lost it !!!

Carolyn SKYPED us this afternoon from her PHONE. Someone came and set it up this afternoon. They are 6 weeks into the holiday in Tenerife. ONLY SIX WEEKS TO GO. I would be grateful for 6 DAYS. lol

Enjoy your evening, what ever you are doing. I'm off to listen to the local news.

Evening all,

Bit on the chilly side here too !! we had a little sun but it didn't last very long .

Oh that was a bit of a rush for your OH this morning then Gill ,i hate getting up late , you feel all put out for the rest of the day .

I had a phone call at lunch time from the school to say little Katie was not at all well and had fallen asleep in class bless her so could i pick her up , we are only a two minute walk away from the school so i soon got there , they had tried sons and DIL's mobiles but they had them turned off as they were at the hospital in Dereham with Lewis for his heel prick and for DIL to have her wound looked at .
Poor little girl she laid on the sofa here and went off to sleep ,son called for her when he picked Chelsea up from school ,he brought the medicine with him and dosed her up if he'd have left it until they got home he wouldn't have been able to give her another dose before bedtime .
She never should have gone today but she seemed so much better so they sent her , that's the thing with little ones, up one minute ,down the next !!

It will be nice to have Shirl back with us it's ages ago that she last posted on here, i hope they get it sorted out soon so she can post again .

Maureen ,i'll tell son about the reaction you had with the Nur*fen , Jake's lips have gone down again now so i think the antihistamine must have worked .

Annx Report 22 Jan 2015 20:11

Evening All,

Oh Mandy, poor little Katie just drifted off then! As you say, little ones perk up one minute, then run out of steam the next when they aren't well. I bet she would want to go to see her little friends at school as well. At least it was easy for you to pop and fetch her and the sleep she had at yours would do her good.

Frank I think you are right about how things have changed with garages these days and the salesmen do find it tough. Part of their pay is usually commission on the numbers they sell which is why they descend on you nowadays before you've hardly got your foot through the showroom door! :-S Years ago I remember they'd help you if you wanted help but leave you in peace to look around and weigh things up. Where we went today, they have an ex demo car for sale which they weren't sure what the exact model it is as they won't have it there till Saturday as the employee who has it is on leave for a few days. We said we would come and look at it then, but they even suggested we pay a refundable £100 to hold it for us till then! We declined and said there wasn't much risk of it selling if they wouldn't have it till the weekend. We thought it may be hard to get our £100 back again till they'd done all they could to wear us down and get a sale and we just didn't want the hassle! It shows you have to be careful as well.........the garage yesterday threw in free front parking sensors as one of the extras for us. When I checked the detail in the brochure I found they were standard on that particular model anyway so in fact they weren't giving us anything with those!

We called in the supermarket after we'd been there to get a few bits of shopping and had a drink in the cafe. While we sat by the window, lycra clad cyclists started turning up outside the window and were parking their bikes. We soon realised they were quite ancient cyclists, struggling with their helmets and other gear. OH said. 'ah, OAPs........Old Age Pedallers!! :-)

We also called in a garden centre and in their sale OH got himself a black long sleeve top and long john things that are for sportsmen or skiers and the like to wear in the cold! He tried them on tonight and looked like .........Max Wall!! :-D

It will be good to hear from Shirl again........she's good at keeping Frank in hand!! :-) ;-)

I bet your hubby flew around to get ready for work this morning Gill. I used to hate it if I woke late for work. You feel like a zombie rushing about! His employer was good about it though and must have appreciated being forewarned. My first hubby would get 15 minutes pay stopped if he was 5 minutes late and anyone over an hour late would lose half a day's pay! There was a level crossing in the village where he worked and if a train was coming near the time they were due to be at work, you would see car doors opening on the cars queuing at the crossing gates and all the men being given a lift to work would be jumping out to run across the railway bridge and along the road to work so they wouldn't be late.

Gillx Report 22 Jan 2015 20:33

Evening all

Well, OH rang me from work, they asked him to work till 8pm instead of 2pm so someone must of phoned in sick or didn't phone at all, as that's what some of them do. I asked him if everything was alright and did he get into trouble and he said they were ok with him, probably because I phoned to explain things as soon as we woke up.

Like I said he's never been late or taken a day of sick since he started and can always be relied upon to do overtime even at short notice, plus 9 times out of 10 if he's only on a half day shift he'll stay back and do the whole 12 hour shift if there's a problem. So he can stop worrying now. I don't think he'll ever make that mistake again. I've put the alarm on already just to make sure and thought I would do it every day, that way there's no chance of us forgetting to put it on when we go to bed again.

I know I shouldn't Mel, but I couldn't stop laughing when you were saying about fixing the net, I had visions of the girls following you, watching what you were doing, following you back in, then realising you had ran out again before they had a chance of following you back out :-D :-D :-D.

Sorry to hear about Katie, Mandy. Good thinking of your son, bringing the medicine with him, hope she feels better soon. Sandra and I wish her a speedy recovery <3.

Oh dear Frank, problems with your heating, have you got a fan you could use if you're really hot. When can the plumber fix it??? At least you have heating it would probably be worse if you had no heat at all. Hope it's not to long before you're back to normal again.

Hope you get rid of the rats soon Jane, are they just in the garden, hope they're not in your house. The little dog should help and give Johnny's mum some lovely company.

Can you move the furniture to another room Maureen, do you have a spare room you could use for a bit, while you decorate your bedroom. Or like Frank suggested put everything into the middle of the room and decorate around it, if that's easier.

Going to get a cuppa now

Ann ,I could do with you here when I go looking for a new car :-D :-D.I can just imagine the salesmen you see are totally flummoxed when you start the wheeling and dealing :-D :-D.They probably think they have an easy sale when they see a female looking to buy.But they will no doubt have to go and have a lie down after dealing with you LOL..

Gill ,I hope work isn't taking advantage of your OH.They must have known he wasn't feeling well today. An extra 6 hours is a long time. :-S

Gillx Report 22 Jan 2015 22:37

Hi all

Yes I think OH boss does take advantage of him Jane, not just when he's ill but all the time, if anyone doesn't show up for work they're straight on the phone to him, asking him to cover, even when they know he has plans for his day off.

They have asked him to work another 12 hour shift tomorrow instead of the 6 hours he was suppose to do and also to work next Monday when that was suppose to be his day off, although he's said no to Monday as we've already made plans.

I think that was wrong Ann having more time docked off a wage for being a few minutes late. OH lost half an hours pay for being half an hour late, He's lucky really because his boss is a nice lady and even joked with him when he explained about the alarm. It didn't stop her asking him to work the extra 6 hours today and tomorrow though. OH said he's feeling a bit better today so maybe the extra one and a half hours sleep this morning did him good :-D :-D.

Someone at his work left today with no notice, so OH is going to see if he can get his contractual hours up to 40, a bit cheeky after today, but why not try they can only say no. I hope he gets them ;-).

Well, OH is tired now so I'd better go
Night Night all <3

Morning all and evening Kim,

I have been having trouble getting to the last page of the thread and each time I try I get the dreaded Error Page.

I am on the first page at the moment and am typing this message at 10.07 am to see if I can get through.

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 23 Jan 2015 10:26

O I made it!!!!!

I could'nt get on here last night fo rthe EP and thought it would be ok this morning but no. Went into my bookmarks as usual and clicked on the thread and it took ages looking for this site so I clicked on the name Genes Reunited and got to the first page ok. Then I tried the page numbers and went to 1940 and the bl**dy Error Page came up again!! Frustration or what??

I then clicked the arrow in the top left hand corner of the page and got back to page one. I then added a post which took me to the last page. I hope we are not going to have all this trouble again with the Error Page and they can sort it soon.

I am now wondering if it is anything to do with our Shirl's not being able to get on here.

Apart from all that the sun is shining and burning all the heavy frost away. It was really cold here last night with no breeze at all.

Ann I loved what G said about the OAP's he is certainly quick on the uptake with remarks like that. It did make me laugh :-D :-D

Gill poor OH he may get those 40 hours yet. I hope he does as he would be really made up with that.
