Morning/Evening All Mel I had the error page every time yesterday.I just click twice on the back arrow at the top of the laptop and it goes through fine.It is a nuisance though getting the error p all the time. This hasn't happened for a long time.
Wow what a frosty morning it is.Everything is still white. I have to go and collect from the dry cleaners and get my eyebrows tidied up.I don't like the Dennis Healy look :-S :-S.I bet some of the side roads will still be quite slippery so I will have to go carefully. Chris went to the log shed just now to move some logs and found a case of wine in there. We had no card to say it had been delivered. It could have been in the shed for about a week !!!!!!!!...Hope it isn't all frozen :-|..Anyway that was a nice surprise :-D
I'll be off now .Hope all our poorly ones are on the mend today <3

Afternoon all,
I had trouble this morning with the dreaded ERROR PAGE, so I gave it up as a bad job.
After showering etc. Ros decided she wanted to go shopping, so I went with her. We had a job getting the car windows clear. Spraying on de-icer, at it freezing again. Finally we got on our way, the side roads were still iffy, but once we got out of the village all roads were fine.
Hells own job finding a blue badge space at Tesc# had to go round twice, and there are a lot of spaces. we managed to find one, so off we went. We both had a trolley . I loaded mine with the heavy stuff, and Ros had the squashables and veg.
I offered to take her for a bite to eat, but she just wanted to get home. All unpacked, now she is steaming the kitchen floor, (Fine sign she's feeling better)
Jan rang from Bristol airport, to say Conrad was on his way back to Spain. She offered to drive up to us, if there was anything she could do for us. We said THANKS, but no way would we let her do the journey.
Ann, Very true about the salesmen. I was fortunate that my Boss knew what I earnt most months. So made my BASIC £17,000 and reduced my commission rate. So on bad months I still had a reasonable wage. Most salesmen have a basic wage of £5 or 6,000 p.a. and the rest is commission.
OAPs did make me smile. He's got a great sense of humour. !!!
"SILLY BILLY" Jane, That's what I remember about Dennis Healy. My eyebrows grow quite thick, and Ros says. "DENNIS" you need to sort out your eyebrows :-D :-D :-D
Poor little Katie, I bet she loved it when she got home to Nanna's and could sleep on the sofa. Bless her <3 <3 <3
Gill, I also feel that your Ohs Boss is taking the mickey. Expecting him to do 12 hours shift without any notice, and to work on his day off. Lets hope they appreciate all his hard work and dedication and offer him the 40 hours a week. that he wants.
Would you believe our silly neighbour put a line of washing out yesterday, and left it out all night. It hung there this morning as stiff as a board. It's still out there now. and I expect it will still be there tomorrow !!!
Must see about something for dinner tonight, or it will be" BREAD AND PULLIT"

bread and pullit was a favorite saying of my mum Frank when asked what's for dinner.
I told oh about the OAP's and he laughed too. Said G has a good sense of humor.
I did manage to go back one page and then back to this page on trying to get back to here and it worked.
Been up the docs for oh's other prescription which they did'nt have yesterday when he went to the docs.
The sun seems to be disappearing at the moment but it is still very very cold outside even when the sun shines. The ground was frozen solid when I did the big girls this morning and I had to give them water which was'nt frozen. In fact I should go and check it again now.

I had a little chuckle at your post Mel, had this vision of you as mother hen and all your little chickens following you about :-D
I thought about leaving everything in the room and covering it up but it will all have to come out as I'm having new carpet laid and they ask for an empty room, The spare room I shall be sleeping in and the art room is not big enough to swing a cat I shall just have to put things here and there all round the house, the worse thing will be dismantling the bed, I can never get things back together when I've taken them apart.
I had to laugh at your description of G Ann in his warm clothes, I remember Max Wall and his funny walk.
Me too Frank, I wouldn't mind a few days in Tenerife.
I agree with the others Gill, they do sound like they are taking your OH for granted, it's sad these days that there's no reward or even recognition for loyalty. Where I worked many years ago they gave you an extra week's holiday after a certain length of time and a yearly bonus based on a percentage of your wages.

Maureen.I would ask the carpet people if you could leave the bed.It could be upended or just moved over the carpet as it is laid. When we had our new bedroom carpet they said it would be fine. They understand that sometimes there is nowhere else for a bed to go.
Frank I would have thought Ros would have been on her knees after a big shop. Not steam cleaning the floor !!!!
Who was it who was buying new frying pans last week???? You are a bad influence ;-) I bought a copper bottomed frying pan ,a smaller teal one and some thick oven trays. All in the sale in Sainsb****.The big pan was £11.50 instead of £38 :-D

Thats sound a good buy Jane. I was thinking of getting new abking tins and I look at the ones I have and some of them I have had for fourty years and they still bake ok. Others not so old are now sticking. Maybe I should just replace those.
Maureen it's a bit much for the carpet layers to ask for a clear room for a woman living on her own!!!!!!!!
Yes I had to laugh at G looking like Max Wall. My dad always called me if he was on the telly.

Yes I will ask him when he brings the samples round, he's a friend of my son's and he works on his own but I could always flex my muscles and give him a hand.
Oscar came flying in the cat flap earlier like the devil was on his tail, I called him all kinds of a whoos and a big girls blouse, he's such a big cat, he's a bit like the cowardly lion from Oz, I took it all back when I looked out the window, there down the bottom of the garden was an adult sized fox but it slinked off before I could get a photo, if I'd been in the garden I would probably have raced Oscar to the back door.
Don't we just love a bargain Jane but it makes you wonder what the real price of these things are and how much profit they are making.
I've made a start on the decorating, hate all that preparation but know it has to be done. I'm never going to use gloss paint again, all that sanding down :-|

Well, Madam has started sorting out the knitting and sewing bags. I have told her to SIT DOWN. After the big shop and the kitchen floor, I think she's done enough today.
I decided on a Turkey curry tonight. The turkey was over from that Christmas dinner I did. It looks fine. I have cooked everything, just the rice to boil.
Mel, do you TOUCH TYPE ?? as every now and again a letter get mixed up. !!! Not complaining just wondering. Not like me with ONE FINGURE :-D :-D :-D
I am sure Maureen the carpet fitter will only be too pleased, to lay half the room then move the bed, for him to finish. ASK HIM before he starts. ;-) ;-) ;-)
New pans Jane, are you getting in the mood for a lot of cooking. ???
I think I might go down the pub tonight (AGAIN) I hear you say !!! Man Utd are playing Cambridge. How I would love Cambridge to win !!!
Better go a put the rice on, or madam will be starving

Sounds like Ros is making up for lost time now she is feeling better Frank. Can't see Cambridge winning but then again stranger things have happened, What is it they say about football ...... it's a funny old game .... If you find it too cold to venture to the pub it's on BBC1 tonight.
We haven't heard from William for a while hope his girls are okay, he's probably busy looking after and visiting.
I touch type Frank, it's a bit like riding a bike once you've learned you never forget but if you don't place all your fingers in the right place to start you can end up with a load of double dutch.

Evening all,
Very very frosty here first thing ,when i got in the car it was minus 5 and boy did the windscreen take some scraping .
Had my cuddle with Lewis this afternoon ,poor little Katie is still poorly she was sound asleep when we arrived and very unhappy when she woke up ,she had some medicine and nodded off again ,the sleep will do her good .
Frank ,sounds as if Ros is feeling better ,but she mustn't overdo it i would have thought just doing the shopping would have been enough ,but we're all the same when we start feeling better we all do more than we should .
Oh Maureen poor Oscar , no wonder he came flying in :-0 like you i would have done the same !! would a fox take a cat ? :-S
That was a bargain with the pan Jane , i don't know who was buying frying pans ,i said i was buying new py*ex dishes .

What does touch typing mean? I know i have heard of it .Does it mean you don't look at the keys?I have to look at each and every one .If I don't it would all turn out like gobbldy gook :-S
Poor Oscar Maureen. No wonder he was a proper scaredy cat.Running for his life !!!! Do you often get foxes in your garden in the day time? What colour are you painting your bedroom? When we have the Hall stairs and landing done I am sticking with the gloss for the woodwork....The decorator will be the one doing the rubbing down :-D :-D.I like gloss as it is easy to wipe clean :-D
Frank ..no I am not in the mood for cooking lol.Just thought they were a good buy and a good excuse to get rid of some of the older scratched bottom pans. The big frying pan is so heavy though :-S
Make sure Ros doesn't over do things. She might suddenly flop :-S.That's the trouble once you start to feel better you think you can do anything.BUT REALLY YOU CAN'T.
Yes I wonder how Williams girls are doing.Hopefully improving day by day.
Mandy those pics were so lovely .Lewis is just a gorgeous little chap :-D :-D and so long !!He just looks so chilled out lol
This weekend I will have to start sorting out what clothes to take to Suffolk next week. It's only for 2 nights and I am sure I will pack far more than I need :-S.We go on Wednesday.
Frank we have Turkey tonight. But not Curry. It's Turkey Steaks with some crumb thing on.Parmentier Potatoes and Roasted Chicory,Peppers and Mushrooms.I think I'll do some Broccoli too.

Oh Mandy ,what a shame Katie is still feeling so bad.Maybe by the end of the weekend she will be well enough to go back to school. I think it might have been Mel buying a frying pan.
Well I DON"T BELIEVE IT.....Chris wants to watch the football ....He never watches it. So I am stuck with Cambridge V Man U tonight. :-S I will try and look interested :-)
It is 15 years ago today that my best friend Diane died(Mum of Rachel). It feels like yesterday.I was with her when she died and then had to wait for Rachel and her Brother Mark to arrive at the hospital. They were only 16 and 18 years old then. :-( :-( It was such a very sad and difficult day.

Evening All,
That pan was a bargain Jane! I find my frying pans don't last too long. I'm sure I have them too hot and it affects the non-stick!
Mandy, what lovely pics of you and Lewis. He is a big boy isn't he, looks older than a newborn. Little Katie is best getting lots of sleep while she's feeling poorly, the poor little mite.
Frank it's good to hear Ros is feeling more like it now. I think she's overtaken me with her energy getting stuck into floors as well as shopping! :-) She should get some rest as well though and stop when she feels tired.
I envy you Maureen with your typing skills. I have tried doing those free online typing lessons (they are very good) and can very slowly use a lot of the keyboard letters without looking if I start with my fingers in the right place. The trouble is, because that way is slower for me than 2-3 fingers, I never seem to keep it up to get any better! My word no wonder Oscar was scared. I've heard of Foxes taking kittens, not sure they would want to tackle a fully grown cat, but who knows if they were hungry. It sounds like your carpet fitter should be able to manage with the bed in the room. I know it was a palaver getting our drawer divan out when we renewed ours, but for us it only meant unclipping the 2 halves and turning them on their sides to drag out. I told OH I'm having a hard floor in there next time.
Gill I hope they pay your hubby a higher rate for coming in on his day off. He's doing overtime really isn't he.
My beading friend who broke her ankle is still in hospital and on strong painkillers. She definitely won't be back this term now which is a shame.
Jane, OH is watching it too......no surprise for him though!! He's off to a match at Yaxley tomorrow.....Peterborough way I think.
The builder has put new plans in for 2 bungalows at the end of the close this time. It's better, but he's still including the chunk of the end neighbour's front garden! :-0 He's also told that neighbour that he planted the fir trees at the end of the close!! I'd say the trees were at least 18 feet high when we moved in and the old neighbour who died told us they were christmas trees that the family whose garden it used to be had planted over the years! He's put on his application that the trees are not a valuable commodity for the area, yet we who live here all want to keep them.
We went to see a film called In The Woods this afternoon. I didn't think I would like it......I was right!! A musical with Johnny Depp (he was alright. ;-) and Meryl Streep. I was surprised OH liked it to be honest. It was quite cold in there, even with a fleece and a jacket!

Yes it was me talking about a new frying pan oh bought me as I had the new cooker. I now have 5 frying pans. I can't cook a decent fried egg in the new one so won't throw the others away.
I was taught typing at school and I did'nt want to do it at the time but was told by my parents that I would always be able to get a job if I could type. I wanted to work for the PDSA when I LEFT school with animals but they only had a junior typist job so I took that but later I passed on to the switchboard as telephanist. I was glad that I took the typing though as it got me where I wanted to be.
I sort of touch type most of the time but when I am typing fast I tend to put letters the wrong way round. Sometimes I change it and sometimes I don't!! sometimes I forget to put a space in. :-S ;-) Never mind you can all still read it. :-D :-D and Frank I don't always tell you when you have made a mistake.
Sorry you did'nt lie the film Ann.
As to the fox, they don't ususally harm cats and I know a lot of cats that would chase a fox. In fact we had a fox out the back field today and I came in for my camera as it was on a vole hunt. You could see it jumping here and there but by the time I had the camera ready, as it was quite far away, it had moved behind our ash tree at the end of the garden. It is best that Oscar came in as foxes carry so much mange and skin complaints that cats can get.
I do hope William is not wearing his self out looking after his girls. Aslo hope his daughter may feel a bit better now. It's a long hawl these knee ops as we all know from the people who had them them on the thread, friends, BIL's and sisters etc.
I spent all afternoon cooking a roast dinner with a 5lb piece of topside to try and get it rare for oh for a change. I DID'NT SUCEED much to my disgust. I shall now be eating beef for the next week I think. Still nice and easy tomorrow, cold beef, chips and veg. But I have a lovely bowl of beef jelly for toast in the morning. There is no fat on it and it's just waiting for some hot toast. Best bit of the joint to my thinjking and I know Frank will agree.
I must have a look and see the pics Mandy has sent. Hope little Katie feels better tomorrow. How did her brothers sore throat develope? Is he ok today?
I have washe dup so not left it for oh in the morning and now I am going in the shower so will say night night.

Hi everyone
Wasn't sure if I was going to get on here today I've been that busy, plus I've burnt both hands especially my fingertips and I am a touch typist so it's quite painful to type.
I burnt my hands on bleach. I was bleaching a bedspread as it had a large stain on it and it didn't come out in the wash, so I ended up putting it into the bath and soaking it in bleach. Everything was going fine until it came to rinsing it. I took the plug out of the bath and lifted the bedspread up to allow the water to go down the plug hole. I should of put some gloves on but picked it up without thinking and now all my fingertips are really sore. I guess I'll be more thoughtful next time.
Thanks everyone for your support over OH's job, no he doesn't get paid anymore for doing the overtime Ann, he gets paid the minimum wage even for weekends, although it's double time for Christmas day and New Year's Day and time and a half for bank holidays, so it's not all bad I suppose.
OH asked about his contracted hours going up to 40 but unfortunately it's company policy to keep the position open for 4 weeks incase the girl wants to come back, if she doesn't then OH's boss said she would consider it. She has just given him quite a few extra hours on contract and there are other's wanting extra hours too, so I suppose she'll have to consider them as well.
When OH said he couldn't work on his day off next Monday the other member of staff who was going to share the overtime with him said if OH wasn't going in then she wasn't either, because she didn't want to work if they were understaffed. In other words she would have to do the work of two people and she wasn't willing to do that.
There are times when members of staff have rang up half an hour before they are due in to work, saying they're not coming in, so OH ends up doing the work of two people because he turned up for work. It's not really fair, but in today's society if you don't do as you are told you could lose your job, so you don't really get a choice. Well, you do, but you get my meaning, you feel like you don't get a choice.
I haven't read all the post yet and OH wants to go to bed now, so I'll read them tomorrow and say goodnight for now
