Afternoon all

It's very mild here today so OH and I finished sorting out the garden, we cleared the leaves and hedge bits from the neighbour and I cut back all the old dead bits on some of our pots, then we both moved a few pots around, it's all looking spick and span now. I wasn't feeling as poorly this morning but think I may of over done things a bit as I'm feeling a bit under the weather again now. My throat is slightly better than yesterday so that's good.

We've just been watching Lewis Hamilton we recorded Mel, is that what you've been watching, it covered all the races this year and how he won the drivers championship. You do look after your girls don't you, I'm sure they appreciate it, not like the poor birds Jane was talking about in her neighbour's garden, the poor things. Have you found your OH yet?

It sounds like you've had a lovely time with Simon and Sally Frank, sorry to hear you didn't have a good nights sleep, maybe a little nap this afternoon might help. The Chinese you had didn't sound very nice, I don't blame you for not bothering with them again and what a silly excuse they had too. Poor Ros, it must be awful to be itchy, can she take an antihistamine, that might stop the itching?

So you have your Christmas tree now Jane, it'll look lovely when it's decorated, although putting the lights on is a bit of a faff isn't it? That's the bit I'm not keen on, but once it's done I do enjoy putting all the pretty decoration on. I found some clip on pale pink roses with glitter and feathers I bought a few years ago, so they have gone on our tree this year, the tree looks lovely with all the crystals, snow flakes and glitter baubles and I bought some pairs of doves the other day which are also on there. A few years ago I went to the woods and picked up lots of pine cones which are also on the tree, we have a 7 foot snow tree and it looks so pretty now it's decorated :-) :-)
How is Hannah today, not to achy I hope and how are you?

It sounds like you're going to be busy tomorrow with your decorations Ann. I've still got my Christmas cards to write out. Sandra made OH and I a lovely Christmas card each, she bought us one too, but the ones she's made are lovely.

Jane Report 3 Dec 2017 16:18

Maybe he has nipped over to one of the Hot Tubs Mel :-D :-D

The tree went in my car fine Ann with back seats down .No trunk in the way :-) It is a much taller tree than last year . Maybe a 6 ft or near that.

I think the exercises I have been doing have made things more painful. Aggravating the Sciatic nerve? I think I might have to see if I need another appointment with the Rheumatologist before next July !! Not too bad today as I am stuffed with painkillers. But that just masks the problem really.

Chris has got the decs down from the loft and after rummaging through a box and 2 bags I found the tree lights and tested them. Thankfully they still work :-D Well they do now. I just hope they do when they go on the tree.

Frank ,that must have been really nice to go to the pub with Simon. Lovely Dad and Son time :-D. Did the locals tell him some tales about you? :-D ;-)
I nearly let the fire go out just now :-S Chris has had to stick a couple of firelighters in to get it going again. He was not impressed LOL said I should have been keeping an eye on it.

Ann a lot of the walk Hannah and Gareth did yesterday looked very steep. All those wooden step things!. I did ring Hannah a little while ago and they were just setting off back to London. She feels totally cream crackered ans feels like she is coming down with something again. I do wonder after her sick bug whether she has taken on too much this weekend.

Janice had a call from Michel .He had been with William and James to choose a Xmas Tree. One that you choose and they cut it down. He then realised he couldnt get in his car with the boys and car seats,so she has had to go off to wherever it is and get the tree in her car .There was she thinking she had a nice quiet and peaceful Sunday afternoon !!

It is completely dark now outside. I think I saw something about a Super Moon tomorrow .

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 3 Dec 2017 21:53

He was in his study and I thought he would have a sleep after his breakfast.

Made a couple of napkin holder late afternoon. I did get some moss but it was getting quite dark and I had to shut the girls in so I dumped the moss outside the shed and came in.

Poor Janice having to and pick the tree up in her car. Trust men to get htings wrong.
Sorry Frank I did'nt mean you.

Morning all

Quite mild again today, but it's forecast for some cold windy weather towards the end of the week, just when we're supposed to be going out to MIL's. Will have the wrap up warm that day.

I'm still feeling under the weather OH was going to take me to the out of hours last night but luckily after I took another hot lemon Beechams and put a hot water bottle on the side of my face the pain eased and I managed a half way decent nights sleep. My face isn't so painful so far today, it seems to be triggered off when I eat as the pain is in my jaw neck and ear.

Nothing planned for today apart from writing out my Christmas cards so I'm going to see if I can find a few more people on OH's tree, I've almost finished his side with some help off a distant cousin of his. I've hit a couple of brick walls but they'll have to stay as they are for now. New records are coming out all the time so I might strike lucky in the future.

I see you found your OH then Mel LOL

You were lucky with your Christmas lights Jane, they don't always work do they. That does baffle me as they work perfectly well when they go away after Christmas. I wonder what happens in the loft sometimes to make them not work the following year. Talking of fairy lights, the new ones we bought and put on our tree about 10 days ago went out this morning, so I've put the spare header light in and they're working now. If they go off again they'll be going back to the shop in the new year.....well, that's if I can find the receipt :-S :-S Hope Hannah is feeling okay, I think that's why felt rotten yesterday because of spending 4 hours in the garden in the morning. I'm not doing to much today, I think it's better if I rest up for a bit.

What is everyone else doing today? I know Ann is putting up her decorations....have fun Ann ;-) ;-) ;-)

Morning Gill and all,

I shall be collecting stuff for my wreaths but I am not holding o ut much hope for doing many this year as my hands and fingers are too achey. I may do a couple of candle arrangements.

Dull ol day again here and I think its been raining a little but I HAV'nt been out there yet!!

Forgot to say today was mum and dad's wedding anniversary. <3 <3

Gillx

Gillx Report 4 Dec 2017 11:59

Hi Mel, it's nice to think of your parents today, how many year would it of been?

Sorry to hear you hands and fingers are still achy. Maybe candle arrangements will be easier for you to do if there's less wiring involved. Will you be able to make those indoors, maybe the cold in the shed is making your hands ache too. It'd be nice if you could work in the warmth of your bungalow.
The sun is trying it's best to come out here, I noticed everywhere was damp this morning, so assume we had some rain in the night.

Sandra has been watching her programmes and has just told me that Victoria is coming on soon on ITV also Call the midwife on BBC.1 I'm not sure if these are the Christmas one's though and Dancing on Ice is starting again, if anyone is interested, in January on ITV. I like Dancing on Ice so will be looking forward to watching it in the new year. It hasn't been on for ages.

I'm getting on well with OH's tree today, Sandra is busy with her programmes and OH is at his friends, so it's nice and quiet for me to concentrate.

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 4 Dec 2017 12:36

Its just as warm in the shed than it is indoors today as oh is working on the gazebo thing outside the back door and so there is no heating on in here as it blows out the side of the bungalow and not up in the air so I don't want him getting fumes.

The sun has been out here and is still out.

Frank Report 4 Dec 2017 14:02

Afternoon all, Very late on here today.

Roa went our with Carolyn this morning, and has just got back.

I am doing Roast beef for tonight, I have done all the veg. Just the pudding to do later.

The "T" gas broken on the keyboard, which makes it difficult to type. Does anyone know if you can buy single letters for the keyboard. ???

I slept right through last night until 7.30 am popped to the loo and went back until 9.00 . I have felt like a wet week all morning. I think I am ready for forty winks. LOL

We have had a miserable morning here Mel, dark clouds everywhere but a little sunshine at the moment. I have been reading my book in between doing the Veg.

Glad you are getting on with your wreaths Mel, and you have got your tree ready to be decorated Jane.

No little stories about me at the pub. !!! It was really nice SON AND DAD hour or so. Conrad doesn't drink anything, and Harvey won't drink as he has to drive home. When Ros Conrad and I use to go to Harvey's for some Sunday lunches. We three lads would go to the "BEDFORD ARMS" in Toddington for a pint before dinner. Now those days are all gone.

I think I will give up on this now as it's a Bl@@@y nuisance with this T. Ros had stuck it together so will see if it holds later.

Annx Report 4 Dec 2017 15:11

Afternoon All,

A gloomy morning here too! I nipped out to the coey earlier for the papers and bits and bobs. They still haven't got a new ATM fitted yet. I got some reduced price mixed greens that looked very fresh still with today as the best before date. They will go nicely with my defrosting cooked Turkey from the freezer. OH is sorting himself out with food.

Gill we are just having a cuppa and then the decs are coming out of the loft at last! I might make a start on decorating the tree, but we have been moving the settees to clean under and wiping them down this morning and having a general clear up so the tree can go up. Tomorrow we are off to Boundary Mill at Grantham for when they open their doors and will be out for lunch so I may be too shattered to do much tomorrow either. I'm glad you are doing your family tree today and hope the rest will help your throat and jaw to get better.

Three pairs of Swarovski and silver stud earrings arrived today and some nice leaf marcasite ones. OH has bought me them for Christmas so he's hidden them away!

It's a nuisance your hands have been so achey Mel that you struggle to do your wreaths. The wiring must be quite stiff and hard to use though. It's a good idea to do the candles so you can still enjoy it without it becoming too painful. Thank you for your lovely card!!! <3 :-) :-) It's taken centre stage on the sideboard for now. :-D

It sounds like you enjoyed your visit to the pub with Simon Frank. I don't know if you can buy single letters for your laptop. It might be worth looking on line.

We've had no heating on yet with beavering about doing jobs so I better go and stand at the bottom of the loft ladder now to take the boxes off him!

Annx

Annx Report 4 Dec 2017 16:01

I just checked Frank and you can get single replacement keys on Ebay and elsewhere but you need to make sure you select the right make/model.

Frank

Frank Report 4 Dec 2017 16:24

Thanks Ann, I was just about to look. Ros has glued it back together, but I don't seem to be able to fit it back on. There is a little plastic bit that goes in first. I just can't fix it.
Don't you use the letter "T" a lot when you are writing. ????

Are all your decs. down from the loft now Ann. Do you have a real tree ??

Ros has to take a load of tree decorations she has made to a SHOWCASE at the Chapel tomorrow morning. If she would lie to sell them she needs to price them up. NO WAY is she selling them. She has done demonstrations in the past to show all the women how to make them. So if they can't be bothered to make them, they will have to go without.

She is saying now that she isn't feeling like eating a dinner tonight, She is feeling sick. She has hd a poorly tummy all day, so the MEAT will have to be throw away as I have had it out of the freezer and fridge for four days. So I don't think I can keep it any longer. That will make her have a dicky tummy, if it's off. I must say it smells alright. So I will see how she feels a bit later.

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 4 Dec 2017 17:21

don't think I would keep it Frank its better to be sade than sorry.

I hav'nt done anything else in the way of wreaths since ding the church one. My hands feel a bit better now thanks so it must have been the wireing. I have had a bit of a clear up in the uti room and put my making boxes in there to try and clear t he kitchen up a bit so I have space to put the new Christmas tree up.

I do like all my making boxes to hand as I always work in the kitchen but at Christmas I move my little filing cabinet into the lounge out of the way and the tree goes there.

I have lamb chops out for tonight but I have indigestion and don't know if I shall want them now!! I shall have to cook for oh so I may just cook my chops and see how I feel then as I have just had a couple of Rennie's.

Jane

Jane Report 4 Dec 2017 17:33

Afternoon All

Frank cant you still cook the Beef and then slice it and refreeze.Better that than throwing it out. I think it is safe to do that with Beef. I hope Ros's dicky tum soon resolves and doesnt turn into anything worse.

Those earrings sound very pretty Ann. :-D Lovely pressies.

Mel ,like the others I agree that Candle decs would be much easier on your hands and fingers. It would be a change too to do something different this year :-D Your card came today and is on the little table by the fire :-D.I usually put all my GR ones on there :-D

I see some co-ops are selling foods that have gone past sell by dates for 10p rather than disposing of it. I think things like tinned stuff. Great idea and hopefully people who are struggling money wise will get in quick before anyone else :-)

I have actually finished wrapping presents :-D :-D. Well all but one and that is Jess's jacket as I want to leave that until just before Xmas in case it gets a bit scrunched.
Cards all posted today too so I feel quite pleased with myself :-D I just have the neighbours ones that I will pop through their letterboxes.

It seems like SOCK CITY here.I have 17 pairs draped over several radiators !!!. Most of them are James's :-S

Is your painful ear/neck any easier this afternoon Gill? Is it one of those pains that gets you when you swallow and you get that horrible pain from the ear down the side of the neck ? That is horrible.

Bit of a miserable and dark day here. I think Ihave had a light on in the lounge since this morning.

I meant to ask Ann and Mel if you got any good pics of the Supermoon last night? I did get a couple but it was just a big bright moon and not particularly super !

Honey and Mustard Chicken for us this evening(Lloyd Grossman sauce :-) ) I have chucked a load of chopped Mushrooms in and some green beans cut in small bits.So I will just do Broccoli and Rice to go with it. Not too long standing at the oven :-D

Evening all,

It's been quite sunny here today ,i finally got to Norwich and bought quite a few christmas presents ,M&S had lots of things for half price and i went into Slaters and got son a couple of their T shirts he likes .
Also got the children lots of things i was so loaded up i was glad to get home ,just got to wrap them now .

Mel thanks for the christmas card ,my first one ,it's on the mantle piece glittering away .
I should think the wire and the greenery are cold when you have to handle them so that would make your fingers ache ,the candle decorations will be some thing different to make and easier on your poor fingers .

Frank couldn't you cut the beef up and stew it up then freeze it ,when you think years ago and maybe now they hang meat for weeks before it's cooked ,it does seem a shame to throw it away .
I hope Ros soon feels better ,are you feeling better today ?

Naughty Ann ,have you opened the parcel to know they are Swarovski and silver stud earrings LOL

Gill thats good the pain has eased in your neck ,it can be very painful when you get that pain going from your ear down to your jaw .
Yes i saw the Dancing on ice advertised ,i like that programme.

Jane i saw that the Co op were selling the end of shelf life food for 10p what a good idea there's so many families having a hard time so it should be very popular .

I keep yawning so i think and early night will be in order .

Morning all,

Quite bright here this morning but still grey clouds in the sky. Not sure if it rained a little in the night or there was just a heavy dew.

Donkey Day today and I want to get off early so I shan'nt be around much. I still have to feed the girls and get myself ready.

Hope you all slept well or got a good few hours in. I think I have a cold coming which is'nt good as I have my flu jab on the 12th. I have been sneezing abd coughing and have felt cold when oh says its not.

Frank

Frank Report 5 Dec 2017 11:29

Good morning Mel, and all. Evening Kim.

I took a chance and cooked the beef. It was one of the best joints we have had. So nice and TENDER. Will slice the rest up and put with onions and baked potato's in gravy. Will do a load of veg, as usual.

I mentioned that Ros made a cake for Conrad that is GLUTON free. Well she isn't happy with it, so has gone to Tesco to buy fresh ingredients to make another one. :-| :-| :-| What she will do with the other cake I do not know. ;-) ;-)

"Biggles" had some cold beef cut up with vegetables and biscuits. His head went down over the bowl, and didn't come up until the bowl was empty !!! I said to Ros we must stop feeding him like this, or they will see how much weight he has put on. BLESS HIM !!!!

Yes, Thanks for your lovely card Mel. it arrived yesterday together with two others. I have sent you all a Christmas card through an Email as well as the post. So double BUBBLE for my lovely friends.

What a great idea the Co-op have, providing people don't get greedy there will be enough to go round each community. But knowing some people they will grab everything that is going. I think it would be a good Idea to restrict everyone to so many items each.

Horrible murky day here today. Low dark clouds and you can feel the dampness in the air.

I will have to take Biggles for a walk today as his walker works all day on Tuesday. I won't go to far, bur let him stretch his legs and have a few new sniffs. LOL LOL

Roa took all manner of Christmas decorations to the Chapel this morning. She will pick them up at 12.30 before they close. There are women keeping an eye on everything, as it's a coffee shop on Tuesday morning, and you just don't know who is going in there, and people being people, things could go "WALK ABOUT"

Jan is flying back from Spain on Friday, and Conrad hopes to fly back on my birthday or perhaps the day before. I just hope Ros will be alright to drive down later this month.

Slept well again last night so I am getting some good nights rest. Thank goodness. !!!

Have a good DONKEY DAY Mel, and to all of you who are out and about, TAKE CARE. xx

I bet you were glad you didn't bin the Beef !!!!. It sounded like it was a great joint and Ros had some after all :-D.. Biggles made the most of his dish too I see LOL

I wonder if Mel is still shopping. Hopefully with it being a Tuesday it wont be too busy.
I got a couple more little pressies this morning, just stocking filler type things for the girls
Chris has shut himself in the study and I am banned from entering (he is wrapping presents :-D )

Did I say on Sunday at the Garden Centre I saw 2 little dogs in their Xmas jumpers .
I bet Benjy will be wearing one when he comes here !Probably have a pair of antlers too to match LOL

I am going to make a start on dinner now . Just Chicken wrapped in Proscuitto ,and a big tray of Charlottes,Peppers,Mushrooms,Leeks and Courgettes.
