We keep having hail showers and they settle and then melt. We had some balie snow when I shut the big girls in tonight and then hail again. It is blimmin cold out though and there's a wind.

I like your new avatar Mandy very festive and warm looking. Are they battery lights around it?

MillymollyAmanda

Hello to you all. I'm still the same, just a tad older.

Haven't asked Santa for owt...but privately I'd love a car ;-) <3

Evening All,

How sad for you all Gill, but for him, he is out of any pain now, which is good. Your poor Aunt, even when it's expected she will be in shock, but it's good she isn't on her own.

My word Sandra must have been busy making a snowman for each year when she couldn't!! lol. :-D :-D

<3MERRY CHRISTMAS TO DAVID <3 I hope you have a nice time David.

Poor Max on his reduced biscuit portions! I'm trying to do the same, so he will be like me, wondering where the rest is!! lol. I like your lit up mirror Mandy. :-) How old is Katie now? They are growing up so fast!

That sounds a bit complicated Jane, but is something out of the ordinary to do. Is it something you can freeze? I wondered if your fire would stay in overnight if you damped down some of the wood ash to bank it up with overnight? I'm surprised you are having to wait so long for BG to come, especially in such cold weather.

Frank, I hope you have made an appointment at the docs now. Best to be checked out before you go away as the others have said. :-) I don't blame Ros not wanting to have Biggles again if he is getting under your feet. As you say, you don't want to be tripping over him. I had to chuckle at him sneaking into your bed though! I wonder if the woman will be given a present for taking care of him while the owner's been away.......she should share it with you if she does. ;-)

There's been a biting cold wind here all day, but no snow. I had to use the scraper on the windscreen this morning.

Katie was eight yesterday ,i don't know where the years have gone really and Lewis will be three next month , he such a little chatter box and comes out with all sorts .

Yes Max has had his rations for the day :-D it's his food biscuits Jane ,he does have other treat biscuits but not that many really as you say i'll have to break then in half , he loves a bit of banana though so i might just let him have that now and again .

Jane

Jane Report 8 Dec 2017 19:37

Can't believe Lewis is almost 3 Mandy :-0 :-0 I still think of him as a baby LOL And Katie 8 !!! They will all be teenagers before you know it !!!!

These Rosti things weren't at all difficult . But I have done 4 properly and they are a bit on the soft side. I have added a bit too much oil . I have the rest of the mix in the fridge so will have another go tomorrow. Chris has had 2 of the ones I did and said the flavour is really good just too soft. James is the next tester when he gets home. He has just messaged to say he is just leaving work now.So it will be about 8.15 when he gets in .Then it will be a quick scoff ,pack and then off for a long drive to Canterbury.
:-S

David I thought you were getting a car ages ago ! That would help you so much with getting 'oot and aboot' :-D

So sorry to hear the news about your Uncle, Gill. Sandra has been a busy girl building all those snowmen and how lucky that she managed to see Father Christmas and film him.

Mel I thought of you when I saw the hedgehog card pleased that you liked it

Belated Happy Birthday to Katie, Mandy. Poor Max being on a diet it's just the opposite for Ruby she is slightly under her ideal weight but she often leaves some food.

Frank have you made an appointment with your doctor yet ? As the others have said you need to be fit for your trip to Paignton

Happy Christmas David its good to see you on here again.

We had a flurry of snow this morning but blink and you would miss it, they were big flakes though but it has been very cold.

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 8 Dec 2017 22:35

Katie 8!!!!!!!!!!!! Happy birthday for yesterday. I remember when she was a baby and little Lewis 3 as Jane said I still think of him as a baby. How is Jake now? is he still being awkward about going to school. I had that with my son and he was being bullied. He came home black and blue all across his back once.

I think I can ust see the snowman on the shelf at the right hand side.

I have just wired 36 bunches of yellow stuf for 4 wreaths.

Gillx Report 9 Dec 2017 08:45

Morning all

Thanks everyone for your kind words. I had a bit of a cry yesterday, it was so quick, but OH did say it would probably be that way with him being unconscious, at least he's not in pain anymore.

We've got rain and sleet here today, but looking at the weather we're going to have lots more snow tomorrow. OH has just nipped to the shops to get next weeks shopping for me as he doesn't think it'll be safe on the roads to drive on Monday.

The eyes have come out of Sandra's snowmen as they are starting to melt now. The snow yesterday was very wet so I was surprised she could make snowmen. She had such a great time rolling the snow into balls up and down the garden until there was hardly any snow left. She wants to make a big one tomorrow if we have enough snow.

Nice to see you again David, Merry Christmas, hope you have a good one.

Poor Max on a diet, he'll be wondering what's going on Mandy. Haven't the last 3 years gone quickly, I didn't realise Lewis was that old already, where have the years gone.

Pity your Rosti's were a bit soft Jane, but very tasty by the sounds of it. What did James think of them? How are you getting on without any heating, hope it's not to cold for you. At least you can move the oil heater into the rooms you need, when you need to.

Did you see the doctor in the end Frank, how are you today? I hope things have improved for you.

You're doing well on your wreath's Mel. Are you just making 4 or do you have plans for more?

We had an early night last night, I thought I would watch the last episode of Howards End in bed, unfortunately I fell asleep so will have to watch it again.

It's very cold here today so no plans to go out, I had the heating on all day yesterday and still had to put the fire on as well. It looks like we might have to do the same again today.

We're just wondering when next door is going to have his roof done and hoping it doesn't cause any leaks on our side. We're semi detached so where the roof meets in the middle the snow and rain might come in, we'll just have to wait and see what happens.

Going to get a cuppa now and watch Howards End while OH is out and Sandra is still sleep, see you all later <3

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 9 Dec 2017 11:51

Morning all,

We had a bit of very small bally snow last night as there is still a little around over in the back field by the chickens and its a lot warmer here today and no wind and the suns out a bit.

Dear Thomas, they always find the warm places. Thanks for the picture Jane.

Heard from Liz this morning and she said they and a bit of snow. They let Merlin out in the field and he shot off galloping and bucking. She said it was a site to see.

I am late today as I did'nt wake till after ten when oh gave me a call.

Still have to do the shop and egg delivery and get on with my rings. I have only 9 rings left and not sure if there are any more in the loft. Shall have to ask oh to get the loft ladder down for me and see if I can still get up there as I know he can't!!!!

Jane

Jane Report 9 Dec 2017 14:35

Afternoon All

Ah The Man from Uncle was a big favourite programme of mine David. My friend Anne and me would make things out of old matchboxes cigarette packs, etc and pretend we were spies . It was all good fun. Thinking about it now it wasnt a very girly thing to do but better than playing with Sindy dolls :-D

I hope you manage to get in the loft Mel .That is one place I dont go.I cant remember the last time I ventured up there. I leave that job to Chris as I think I would have trouble getting down again even though we have the ladder.

The lights are on the tree finally.Oh what a job ,Chris was hopeless at helping and I was gradually getting more and more frustrated as he just didnt seem to get the hang of it. I still have a lot of fiddling to do to get them right but I will get the decorations on and then see how ot looks. I now need to muster up the enthusiasm to go in the garage for the decs and make a start. It will be done before this evening !!! :-D
I think the tree really could do with a few more lights really.
I decided to go to Tesco for a shop once the lights were on.I needed to get out !! Also if we get the snow tomorrow I wont want to be going out then for veg ,potatoes ,milk etc.I came home with a bit more than those few bits though.2 pairs of trousers for me(20% off all clothing) I expect I will be taking them back though lol, more food for the fridge for Xmas. That fridge is almost full already!!! .We have 2 fridges and I said we should just use one for Christmas food and the other for everyday. That seems to make sense to me and then no-one will be going in that one pinching the food.

We are coping ok with no boiler so far. Upstairs gets a bit on the chilly side once evening comes but once in bed its fine. We are keeping the little oil radiator (the one Thomas likes) in the downstairs loo now as that will be the place that will freeze up with 2 outside walls. Thomas will have to get used to lying in front of the fire (which he doesnt do) . Isnt that what cats are supposed to do??? He is curled up on his bed now after being in and out like a yoyo this morning. 4 times I had to let him in the patio doors and then out the back door !!

Mel you said about Liz's Merlin galloping and bucking when he got let out. I was watching the horses in the field opposite this morning and they were doing excactly the same :-D :-D.They all had the coats on which didnt look too comfy as they were tearing around the field .I expect they must feel a little restricted with the coats on, plus it cant be so much fun when they have a good roll :-D

I fell asleep like you Gill watching TV but I was watching the Jungle Did anyone else go out last night? James and Chris both really liked those Rostis :-D. I have the rest of the mixture sitting in the kitchen but I must get this tree done before anything else.
Its 2.30 already !!!!!

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 9 Dec 2017 15:25

Thanks for your Christmas card Frank but there is one question whose Andrew?

Gillx

Gillx Report 9 Dec 2017 15:32

I don't watch the Jungle programme Jane, but Sandra does and she said Amir Khan the boxer left. Apparently Amir is giving some of his show fee to Charity, isn't that nice? <3

Love the photo of Thomas, he's not daft is he? Although now the heater is in the downstairs loo he'll have to make do with the warmth of the living room. You never know he might curl up in front of the fire. I think you're right cat's are known for hogging the fire, maybe it's a bit to hot for him with all his fur. Pleased to hear you're coping well without your boiler, do you know when it'll be fixed or replaced?
So you're lights are on the Christmas tree now? That is a job I'm not keen on, you're right it can be quite frustrating. What a good idea to have two fridges, you're quite organised aren't you? You got a bargain 20% off, let's hope you don't have to take them back now.

It sounds like you're busy with all those rings Mel, did you find anymore in the loft?

I'm catching up with some programmes we recorded lately, it's very cold outside so we decided to stay in doors and keep warm.

Annx

Annx Report 9 Dec 2017 16:47

Afternoon All,

Chilly here outside, but literally 10 mins of the heating on and it's too hot, so it's off most of the time. OH tends to forget to switch it off though and I end up melting. :-S

He's put his Biggles hat on today and umpteen layers as he's gone to a rugby match and was then going on to a footie match with a pal. I went to a Christmas Tree Festival. I was surprised to find one on as most seemed to have been held last weekend. I went to this one last year, but didn't think it was so good this time. I also got no change when I paid to go in, but with it being for charity I didn't like to ask for it!! lol. A few of the local primary schools had decorated trees which I thought they must have loved doing and someone had done a tree as a fairy, but she didn't look a very happy one......made me want to get my paintbrushes out and give her a smile! :-) My favourite was a tree done as the Twelve Days of Christmas and covered in knitted figures. Then I decided to carry on and go up the M1 to the factory shop near Loughborough. Nothing really took my fancy, but I did get a nice Christmas card for OH so that was good. As I left the factory shop large flakes of snow were falling but there was nothing at home.

The new neighbours have had water company vans parked outside the last few days so must have some kind of water situation going on! Jane would know all about those. It's a good idea having 2 fridges and keeping the Christmas stuff in one. It's handy having a spare too if you have trouble with one during the year. I'm glad your rostis were a success!

So it's back to decorating the tree next and I see Jane has already caught me up!!! lol.:-0 :-0 I must get all the decs up and finished this weekend, but can't seem to find the little hangers and some are missing off the baubles. I think I might have to make some out of my beading wire.
