Morning all,

Lots of snow has fallen over night ,i should think it must be over four inches or may be more of snow out there now and it's been snowing since we got up .
The A47 is gridlocked nothing can move and all the schools are closed .
Colin is now going out to clear a path to the wood shed so he can get the wood in ,the fire is lit the heating has been on too so we're lovely and warm ,we're not going any where today that's for sure .

Hope everyone is keeping warm and safe ,it's so bad out there .

Goodness Mandy, that doesn't sound good to say the least!! No snow here but the wind is icy to say the least. We're not going anywhere today either! Have done some washing which will dry on the clothes horse tonight. Our tumble dryer is in OH's workshop and tbh I hardly ever use it. Sometimes in the summer if the weather is horrid but too warm for a fire!
Better get on!!

Frank

Frank Report 28 Feb 2018 11:19

Good morning Mandy, Liz and all.

We have had a light covering of snow, but nothing like yours Mandy. Best place today is in doors in the warm. On the news this morning they said Devon and Cornwall were getting snow today. So watch out Mel. Th forces is not good anywhere in the U.K. and parts of Europe are in a very bad way with snow drifts everywhere.

Ros has her nail appointment at 12.30 pm, so should be safe to get out of the village.

When we got home yesterday there was a card on the mat to say. Sorry I missed you, and that a parcel had been left by the back gate. I went to retrieve it, but NOTHING THERE. I have spoken to the delivery people this morning, and they say they have no record of my name and address. But the driver has a photo on his phone of the parcel. We have had A WHITE VAN coasting around the village lately and things have gone missing. Why on earth he didn't leave it with one of my neighbours I will never know.

The only thing we were expecting was a SOUP MAKER. We ordered one over a week ago. When it didn't arrive, I notified the Company. They very kindly sent another one, by express delivery, as we need it for a present. Which they did and it arrived on Monday. I can only assume it was the original Soup Maker that arrived yesterday, but I DON'T KNOW. as It could be anything, and we are not expecting anything else.

Take care all, if you are having to go out. Stay warm. Where's our Gill. ??

Morning All

It's like a Blizzard at the moment !!!!!!!! We have a lot of snow so far this morning and I think we might be back on an Amber Alert. James has taken Chris's car today.
I thought it was going to be really bad your way Mandy. Are the childrens schools shut? I think Norfolk had the most number of schools closed in the region.

Frank, that was bad someone pinched your parcel :-S. There are some right scoundrels about .At least you have a replacement now with no fuss. Some years ago now I signed for a package for next door.It was too big for me to take in as it was a long cover for the swimming pool and was like a very long carpet roll. I told the delivery chap to leave it in the outdoors game room next door and I watched him go down their drive with it. But when the owner came back later in the day it was gone !!!!!. Now the only people to know where it was was me and the van man,and I didn't nick it.

The table is set and food ready to pop in the oven when Fitz gets here(12.30) if he can get up the lane in the snow. I think he should be ok. Gareth sent me some pics of the snow in London this morning. He must have been on his way to work then.

I better get a move on now .Chris has chucked out the instructions for heating this food so i will have to rummage in the cardboard recycling box in the garage :-S

Afternoon all,

Sunshine again this morning but a cutting biting sklicing wind. This is the first time Ihave seen oh's pond frozen in all the years we have had it. There is no pump going in my pond and that has been freezing a bit but thawing during the day. Today it is frozen right over and there are a few snow flalkes frozen on the top.

I brought the big girls water down to the house last night when I shut them in as I knew that would be frozen this morning. and the bantams one I put in my shed thinking that would be ok. No frozen solid this morning and had to be run under the tap for ages before I could get the top off. I shall empty both tonight and bring them indoors.

Gosh it is bitter out there.

Oh keeps thinking its Thursday today. I have the docs at 3.50pm TODAY.

I had a dreadful night. I had that pain across my chest and back. I was up three times as I could'nt get comfy. Oh even snuggled up to make me nice and warm and he rubbed my back for a while before he dropped off again.

Anyway hope you are all snugly tucked indoors today and keeping nice and warm.

Oh has just shot out as he has seen the fox run across the top of the garden into the orchard.

Frank Report 28 Feb 2018 14:17

We had that snow also Jane, It's now staring again and settling on the lawns, it's looking like we will have this for some time.

I have put half a drum of meal worm on the front lawn. There is a multitude of birds pecking around, so they will have something in the tummies for tonight.

Roa still isn't back, so I hope everything is O.K. I have just had a email for her to say Choir practice for tomorrow is CANCELLED. So she will be here for her soaps. BAH.

Bunnyboo

Bunnyboo Report 28 Feb 2018 14:47

OH is having to give Merlin a water bucket tonight as the pipes to the automatic water container in his stable are frozen!!
Still no snow here, but very cold, wind like a knife!! Tomorrow I think we will get our share! It's times like this that I'm glad we've got a Freelander, at least we can get out if we have to. Mind you the village is only half a mile away, and you can get everything you want from there.
Not surprised that Choir has been cancelled Frank, don't envy you the soaps though!! ;-)
Birds are busy at the bird feeders, and I've just filled the bird bath! These 'animals' are becoming a full time job!!
OH is now having a snooze, while I read!! All is peace and quiet here!! (Frank!! ) :-D

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 28 Feb 2018 14:51

The wind has got even colder here now but the suns still out. Oh's pond is now only half frozen and mine has about four inches clear on the side the sun gets too.

We've had no snow at all today so far. Blue skies and big white fluffy clouds.

I have had to clip the wing of the chicken that gets out over he fence as she's been out again today after oh saw the fox in the garden.

I have fed the wild birds again so all their feeders are full and theres a lot of activity around there on the three feeding sites.

I think I will turn the heating on for an hour now as the house is staying warm with the new lagging.

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 28 Feb 2018 14:53

Frank Report 28 Feb 2018 15:28

We are in the middle of a "WIPEOUT" I can hardly see across the road. The snow bus be blinding for anyone trying to walk in it.

I wish Ros would hurry up and get home. I am wondering if she called round Martines, without letting me know. I won't be happy if that's what she has done. :-( :-( :-(

The big snow clouds are just moving away, and the sun is trying to come out. You don't know where you are with this weather.

How's things your way Mandy. ?? As I well remember for my tw winters out that way. You certainly get it, when it comes. Stay safe. xx

Did Fitz make it for lunch Jane. ?? I bet he won't want to go home in the lot !!!

MillymollyAmanda

MillymollyAmanda Report 28 Feb 2018 15:59

We've had lots of wipeouts all the morning Frank you couldn't see down the road at times .
The sun came out for a while but the snow is now coming down again ,the sky looks full of it .
I see we have icicles hanging on the little wood shed and on the wheelie bin ,no bin collection today ,i think the A47 is now passable ,the N&N Hospital has cancelled all out patients appointments and minor procedures for this afternoon and tomorrow morning .

Jane

Jane Report 28 Feb 2018 16:56

White Outs here too!!!!! My goodness it has been quite fierce. The wind too now is really biting and the ground has turned all icy underfoot . Great clouds of snow have been blowing across the garden off the big Yew hedge. It's really quite grim now.
Thomas has been gone for hours :-S. I hope his little feet haven't got ice burn. I just want him to come in. A female Pheasant has just landed in the back garden looking rather lost .

I am sure Ros is ok Frank, just having a cuppa with Martine. Don't give her too much earache :-D

We have icicles too now Mandy on the summerhouse and on the cars. The bird bath is so solid I dont think there is any point in me now trying to defrost it again today.
Fitz got here ok but had a bit of a struggle getting up the slope on the lane from his house. He arrived in sensible shoes but has left wearing slippers !! Daft so and so(that is being polite LOL ) I almost had icicles on the end of my nose just nose from going out to refill the bird feeder.
Chris has just gone for a little nap .I think Fitz might just be doing the same thing now.
We had a good lunch with a good amount of wine :-D I have just cleared all the dishes.
Our bins were done today Mandy, just a little later than normal.
I have my hospital appointment tomorrow with the Rheumatologist at 11.50. I think I might try and ring in the morning just to make sure things are still on.
We now have a clear blue sky !!!! but that wind is looking stronger :-S

Roa got home O.K. She was late getting her nails done. Then called in Tesco for Paper and some bits we needed.

I just spoke to my sister. They have very thick snow in Essex and it's still snowing.

She passed on some very sad news. My nephew Stephen (Bills Son) in very poorly in Hospital. The doctors are taking him off the oxygen and leaving NATURE to take it's course. So things not looking good. Have tried ringing SIL (Answer Phone). So left message. Susan my niece, his sister, has a mobile number that I haven't got. So have left a message on her FB page. Just hope she picks it up. Perhaps SIL will ring later, I assume she is at the hospital.

Liver and onions for dinner tonight. I had soup and ham sandwich at lunchtime, so I'm not hungry yet. Ros hadn't eaten when she came home, so had a bite to eat then, so she's in no hurry to eat either. I will start it after the news.

Glad to hear Ros is home Frank but very sorry to hear about your Nephew. I hope he passes away peacefully now.

It is 7.30 and Thomas has finally turned up. I went to stroke him and the whole of his fur from his neck down his back was just ICE !!!!!. He is defrosting now and I can relax .I will now do Fried Eggs on Toast for our dinner .We had enough for lunch ,so don't want much tonight.

James had quite a time getting home from work, and one of his colleagues got so far and then had to ring his Dad to come with a 4x4 to rescue him after geting stuck .

Fried Eggs and Toast now :-D :-D

Good evening all

Woke up to snow this morning everything was covered including the pond , when the sun came out most of it had thawed, the roof of the large shed at the top of the garden, one half was still covered with snow and the other had thawed completely. We haven't had any snow today but it is forecasted for tomorrow.

So sorry to hear about your nephew Frank so sad but when it's someone younger, it's even worse.Pleased to hear Ros got home safe and sound but feel sorry for you that the soaps will now be on, I don't watch any of them apart from Doctors at 1.45 but it doesn't worry me if I miss it .

Jane ,Thomas's fur must help to keep him warm perhaps he was on a stake out hoping for a catch. I first read Penny Vincenzi when we were on holiday and had run out of my own books to read so I popped into a charity shop and got one for 50p. I can't really describe her work , she has been a Sunday Times best seller and her books are called Block Busters not usually my type of book but I do enjoy reading her books. Some of my favourite other authors are Philippa Gregory, Erica James, Santa Montefiore and Maeve Binchy and many others reading Is my favourite indoor pastime.

It would have been Peter's birthday today, it doesn't seem possible I lost him over four years ago, I think of him everyday, I have a photo of him on my screen saver. It's his brother who is 3 years younger's birthday tomorrow, his mother produced a baby every three years even during the war as his Dad who was in the RAF was posted at Dover Castle with the Barrage Balloons. The next brother was born in March with another 3 year gap, after that another 3 years when his brother that died at the age of 28 was born then after 2 years his younger sister was born, So there were 2 girls with the four boys in between strangely she didn't like children very much but being Catholic she must have felt under pressure to have a large family.

Going to watch Shetland soon.

Hi Everyone

I'm still feeling under the weather but didn't want you to worry with me not being on here for a while, so thought I'd pop in before I go to bed. I've woken up with a sore throat this morning and the cold weather isn't helping either.

I wasn't sure if I was going to get on here as I couldn't get connected to the internet, not sure if I have a loose connection on my phone extension lead, but don't feel up to checking it properly at the moment.

I hope everyone is okay and keeping warm in this dreadful weather. I'll catch up with the post as soon as I feel up to it.

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 28 Feb 2018 21:47

Glad Ros got in safely with the weather you've had. Sorry to here about your nephew Frank and hope he can pass peacfully and be at rest at last.

We still hav'nt had any snow. Just a couple of flakes when I went outside to put something in the dustbin blew past. It is really bitterely cold and should be worse tomorrow.

Good to know how Gill is. Stay safe and warm indoors and hope you get better soon. You did'nt tell us if you have had any snow?

Well it seems like everywhere in the country has had snow except us.

The doc changed my pills again today so I shall have to see how I get on with these ones.

I have missed the start of Shetland so shall have to see it later on catch up. Oh had Shed and Buried on. I would'nt mind but it was one we had seen before.

Glad you had a nice lunch with Fitz Jane. Did he really go home in his slippers in the snow? Poor Thomas I wonder if he had a catch today or whether everything in the way of prey was tucked up in their nests.

I have brought both drinkers in tonight so I can fill them with ease tomorrow morning.

Jane how far does James have to travel to work?

We haven't had any snow to speak of Mel! but I think tomorrow will bring some in our direction!!
Watched Shetland, but I can't seem to get into it for some reason! OH loves it!! We're now snuggled up in bed watching the news(!) for the umpteenth time!!
I read a lot too Anne, mostly historical books. I'm reading a biography of 'Bess of Hardwick' at the moment, it's fascinating!
Nice to hear from Gill, hope she feels better soon.
