I like that Liz "Supervising". You tell him girl.
If ros left early like Frank said she should be home by now. I think he mentioned 10.30am??? But perhaps they did'nt get away early after all.
Something is eating my snowdrop flowers off. It could be the deer. I noticed the other day our BIG ash tree has ivy growing up it which I usually pull off as I don't want it getting up the top. It is these ivy leaves I took as patterns for the little pouch I sent you a picture of. Well up to a certain height all the green ivy leaves have gone so it must be the deer eating them. It had some nice shaped leaves at arms reach for me. I noticed too that the ones that are left have been affected by the frost or cold wind as they have turned a bit browny looking. I don't think I have ever taken notice of ivy in the very cold weather before.

Afternoon Everyone Gill you and OH are such good neighbours.Fixing the shower too. Thank goodness you spotted that it was 'out of place' ,the poor lady would be back in hospital again if she had leant on that. Is she safe to be at home? I cant remember if the Daughter lives there too or not? I agree with the others and hope you have been paid for doing the cleaning. You did all that decorating too a little while ago.
Mel that is good you can get rid of your cardboard boxes for the little boy to make things with. Thats a good bit of recycling . It reminded me of the various things James and Hannah came home with when they were at Nursery School. I used to save all the loo rolls.kitchen rolls and boxes for the school.
Frank, if Ella is not a good traveller maybe those wrist bands would be a good idea rather than the travel sick pills. We used to have them for the children when we travelled to France on the Ferry and they did seem to work really well. I once took H&J to Denmark to Legoland. It was a coach trip and then an over night ferry from Harwich then coach . They kept those wrist bands on the whole time. I made sure of that LOL. I didnt fancy them being travel sick when it was only me with them. Chris stayed at home for that trip.
I think lots of people are busy out in the gardens today.I passed no end of folk in gardens pruning ,clearing etc. Chris is having a good clear out in the Greenhouse and will have a car full of stuff to take to the tip .
Time for a spot of lunch now.

Afternoon all,
Another lovely sunny day again after a frosty start ,Colin is out chopping some wood ,Max keeps in and out but he won't stay out for long if i'm not out there .
Liz the Daffs look lonely just the two of them but they were picked with love , it is a pretty little jug you have them in .
Mel i liked the little pouches you've made ,you make some nice things . Naughty deer eating he snow drops . I bet the boys will enjoy the boxes , my grandchildren love making things with boxes and bits and bobs ,the only thing is they do like to use sellotape and more sellotape ,before you know it they've used the lot !!!
I'm still looking after my friends bungalow , (the one that died last August )when i went yesterday the snow drops looked lovely ,i spoke to her daughter yesterday and she wants some of the snowdrops for her garden so i'll have to see if i can dig a few up ,she wondered if i would pack up some of the glasses and bits in the dining room ,there is so much stuff to sort out ,she carn't do much with the bigger furniture at the moment as she's still waiting for the papers to go to probate it seems to taking for ever to get things sorted .
Gill your so good doing the cleaning for your neighbour but don't let her take advantage ,i hope she pays you some thing or gives you some flowers for the jobs you've been doing . Good job you noticed the shower door was out of place or the poor lady could have had another accident , don't go over doing things you have been so busy lately with one thing and another .
Frank if Ella is a bad traveller those tablets work a treat ,poor Katie is always sick if she hasn't had the tablets before travelling . Hope Ros has a good journey home ,you'll be pleased to have her home again .
I noticed yesterday afternoon they had taken the fancy street light down in the churchyard ,the top bit with the light had gone and the bottom half was all taped up ,when i let Max out last night there were workman there with lights taking the bottom bit away , this was about ten o'clock !!!
I think a lot of people will be out in the garden Jane it's a nice day for getting jobs done .
I do hope Anne is ok apart from the happy birthday for Mel we haven't heard from her for nearly a week now .

I've been thinking about Anne too and also hoped she was okay. Maybe we'll hear from her soon.
No I don't get paid for the jobs I do for the neighbour. In our street we all help each other where we can. Last month the daughter let us use her wheelie bin to get rid of the hedge that another neighbour helped me cut down as we have to pay for the garden bin to be emptied. The neighbour pays but we chose not to, so it was nice of her to let us put the rubbish in there. I don't mind helping as I don't think the daughter likes cleaning. She did say she'd do the rest of the bungalow, but so far I've not seen her car, so when she plans on doing it I don't know. The bathroom didn't look like it had been cleaned since the last time I did it and that was ages ago.
The daughter only lives in the next village so not far away. She does go to her mum's every day and sometimes very early in the mornings, she also goes there at night if her mum has had a fall, like she did the other night. Personally I don't think her mum should be living on her own with all the falls she has been having over the past year, but it's none of my business so I don't say anything. We are always keeping an ear out just incase she has another fall and calls out. She did this when she had a fall in her back garden so we looked after her until the ambulance arrived, that time she broke her hip and was in hospital for quite some time. I do worry about her.
I think Ella would benefit from those sickness tablets Frank, Michelle used to have them and they worked a treat, also the bands, she used to wear one around her wrist which worked too. Ros should be home now, so you'll have some company when you return from the pub.
I thought they were little bags Mel, but wasn't 100% sure so thought I'd ask.
It's been a lovely sunny day today and quite warm outside, but I don't have any gardening to do at the moment. We are hoping to dig up a couple of plants but needs large pots to put them in first.
It sounds like you've been busy in your garden Liz and also in your bungalow. You'll be all spick and span now.
OH has finished the painting in the living room. The emulsion smells worse than the gloss paint did so I'm glad I'm in the bedroom for now. Hopefully once it's dry the smell will go.
I was going to watch Love your garden but OH likes that and he's had to nip out so I've decided to watch Queen Elizabeth instead and watch Love your garden later when he comes home. I did watch the Olympics earlier and was pleased to see our girls won gold and bronze in the Skeleton. Shame about Elise though, she fell and had to be taken to hospital. Luckily she doesn't have any broken bones and should be okay for her next event. I'm hoping she has more luck then and wins something.
Well, I'd better get back to my programme I've got it on pause.

Frank you have just made me laugh and laugh with what you sent me.
as to if I give things away sometimes I do but I am wondering if I get enough stuff made I may have a stall at the Christmas fair next year in the next village or Ann down our local shop may put some things in there with her bits. She makes lots of things on her machine and does lovely quilting. She makes little shopping bags and puts eggs in them at Easter and little stockings at Christmas and book covers, purses, lavender bags and key cases, all sorts of stuff.

That's a good idea Mel having a little stall at the Christmas fair ,you could get quite a lot made over the months leading up to Christmas .
Well that was very nice Gill being able to help your neighbour out after them letting you use the garden bin , so it doesn't look like the daughter has cleaned then since you last did it ,at least she is now coming home to a nice clean bungalow thanks to you.
Liz that was a big bush you had to get out , we had a Forsythia a couple of years ago that had gone all woody ,Colin had a job to get that out ,in fact i can now see some bits of it that are shooting up again so he didn't get it all. I see Cas still likes her ring to play with nice photo of Merlin .

Yes they were nice photos from Liz. Just love the one of Merlin and Cas with her ring. That has to be a very favorite toy.
I have been trying to add to my family tree again but I can't get notes etc on one man. every time I go to his wife and go back to him the marriage is'nt there or the notes. I have been faffing around nearly all afternoon doing this. I have now got on to customer support and told them. I am also getting the Error page and having to wait for ages to get to this page to answer things. Its driving me up the wall.
Where's Frank????? Did Ros get home safely?

Frank is probably enjoying catching up with Ros (unless he is still at the Pub )
Mel keep up with your craft work and you will have plenty to sell at the next Xmas fair You have 10 months
Love the pics from Liz Merlin looks so handsome and Cas still hanging on to that ring .
Mandy what is this fancy light being taken down in the Churchyard? I dont think I have seen you mention it before.(must have been a post I missed) which is so easy to do sometimes So you have a job of packing up glasses and bits and bobs for the Daughter of your old friend . You could do with some of Mel's cardboard boxes
Everyone I know at the moment seems to be looking after someones place. My Neighbour 2 doors down has been looking after a bungalow for the last 5 years .It is now going to Auction and will be a blessing when it has gone and my friend doesn't have to worry about it any more. She has enough on her plate with wayward Grandsons, and her OH recently diagnosed with Parkinsons.
Going to cook Steaks now I am starving

Sox various, and her ball are all keen contenders for outside!! We had macaroni cheese for supper and it was lovely and made a nice change. Late afternoon I cut OH's hair! another job out of the way!

Jane its just an old fashioned looking lamp post, looks a bit like a lantern , they did put one of the orange looking bulbs in it a few years ago ,i don't know why it's been taken down as it's been lighting up each night ,perhaps they are just going to give it a spruce up . When son came this afternoon he walked over to have a look ( he's just plain nosy) LOL he said the hole where the post had been is all filled in so perhaps they are going to put some new posts in and have more lighting in the churchyard we shall see ,i carn't see them not having lighting as people cut through there at night from the town and down to the main road or on a side path by our house .
Oh i love Macaroni cheese, i cut up a little cooked ham and add to mine when i make it.

Morning all
Bright and sunny here today and quite warm for a change.
I can't get to the end of the thread just keep getting the error page so hope this goes through okay.
I hope Ros got back okay Frank and she liked her flowers.
OH has decided to paint the bathroom today and the hall, then we're going to see if we can find some lighter wallpaper for the living room. Now all the white paper is off it's very dark in here and we were going to put some darker paper up but don't think it'll work now, so hopefully some lighter paper may make this north facing room brighter. It's quite a big room so I don't want to paper it to dark then have to do it again. The paper we've bought will do in other rooms when we get round to it.
It's a good job we haven't got round to doing the kitchen yet as we had a flood last night. One of the taps had come loose and when the washing machine was on the pressure popped it off. OH and Sandra were panicking while I just laughed. Sandra said it's not funny, but I just said turn the stop cock off which OH did, then it was just down to emptying the cupboard under the sink and re-doing the tap. We then dried everything off and put it back in the cupboard and moped the floor. I said to OH if you wanted me to mop the floor you only had to ask LOL I've got a dehumidifier so had that on all night to collect any moisture that was still in the room. I've left it on for now as I'm using my dryer.
Well, I'd better post this and hope it goes through okay, then I can catch up with the post if it puts me to the last page.

Yes Frank did Ros get home ok please? Did she like her flowers and are you both ok?

I can see some of the posts now as it put me to the end of the thread.
That's a good idea to make lots of things to sell at the Christmas fair Mel. Like Jane said you've got 10 months so should have plenty to sell by the end of the year. What type of things are you planning on making?
So Cas is still happy with all her toys including Teddy Liz. She is such an adorable dog. Sandra and I love seeing the photo's you send of her. The one in her jacket is so cute and she'll be lovely and warm and dry in it. I loved the one you just sent of her with her ring and the one of Merlin. What type of plants are you taking out, I couldn't make out what they were. Did you get the big one out in the end?
Are those lights old Victorian ones Mandy. Fancy them taking them down in the churchyard, surely that's where you need the light. Let's hope they replace them with modern ones and not just take them away completely?
I did well on my family tree yesterday, kept finding one person after another, it makes a pleasant change from all the brick walls I've had recently. Let's hope I have another good day again today. I'm beginning to enjoy having some time off, although it won't last long as I have lots of decorating to do once OH has finished the painting, which he's hoping to finish today.
Just watching a bit more of the Olympics, I'm really enjoying it and it's becoming a bit of routine watching it now, I'm going to miss it when it's over. Wasn't yesterday brilliant winning all those medals?

I'm HERE. Good morning to you all,
I was back from the pub by 2,00 pm I only watched the first half of the match. I sat and had forty winks in the armchair. They arrived here around 3.00 pm. Jan and Ella didn't stay long. They had eaten the way up. Ella was very sick within minutes of getting in the car, but was fine after. In fact when they stopped to eat she had TWO Mc Donalds.
The flowers weren't that special, but they were chosen by Tony lol lol Ros sorted out the ones in the vase already here and mixed the new ones in with them. She was pleased that I thought of her and got them.
We had a Chinese last night, and stopped off a Tesco to get some bread and BEER.
I was in bed by 10.00 pm Ros came in at 11.11 pm I was still awake. I clocked watched the whole night through, and was glad to get up at 7.00 am.
Mel, I thought of your OH when I sent that "FUNNY" Did you show it to him ?? I know I had a good chuckle about it. Where, and who thinks of these jokes. ??
Had a very lazy morning reading the paper. Ros is doing her crosswords in "TAKE A BREAK" I will get showered and shaved and dressed, leaving the bathroom for madam to sort herself out. The table is confirmed for 2.30. So no cooking today.
It is strange not hearing from Anne for the passed week, I do hope everything is alright with her and he family. xx
Enjoy your day girls, whatever you are up to. As long as you behave, and that includes you JANE. !!!!

Afternoon All
Oh Frank, when do I ever get into trouble LOL I'm a good girl Enjoy your lunch today. You are probably on the way there now. So Ella managed 2 Macdonalds! That is some going for a little girl. I expect she had an empty tummy after being car sick. I used to dread long journeys when James was a baby. He was always sick and it always ended up in his car seat .What a mess.
Mandy I hope that they arent going ot be putting 'modern' lighting in the churchyard. I love those old Lantern Styled ones, but I do understand they need some good lighting if it is used as a cut through for many .It might just be for safety reasons.
Gill thank heavens your flood was not too bad and you noticed it !!!. Good job you have the dehumidifier . It does sound that you will need a lighter colour wallpaper now for your room.I hope you find just what you need.
It was thick fog here first thing this morning. I got quite a shock when I opened the back door to let Thomas out at 6.30. It did clear eventually and the sun came out. But now the sun seems to have gone to bed and it is all cloudy.
I have my Chefs hat on again for another new dish. A recipe from the Sainsbury Magazine. It is Sicillian Roast Chicken with Fennel and Blood Oranges. Its a big Roasting tin with everything in.Charlotte Potatoes, 12 cloves of Garlic (unpeeled),2 Cinnamon sticks, Pistachios ,and runny honey mixed with the juice of the Blood Oranges.Oh and red onions and Rosemary Sprigs. I just need to Brown off the Chicken and Fry the Red Onions first. Pistachios are toasted and blitzed .So I am already to go . When I juiced the Oranges I had forgotten how red the juice is from these Blood ones.It was like Beetroot !!! I just hope it all turns out ok There is a new comedy prog on tonight with John Cleese and lots of other actors I like. I can't think what it is called now .....just looked in the Radio Times and it is Hold the Sunset. It looks funny
I hope Anne and Ruby are alright. It is a week now since the Boston Terrier Meet .
LIghts are having to go on now as it has got really dark

Oh cleaned one of the mowing deck this morning and then washed one side of my car and I soaped it after. I have a lots of green on the car as I have to drive past a dirty farm. Its hard to get it off. Yesterday when I went to the shop my battery light was on all the time. I parked the car so oh could put it on charge which he did andleft it all afternoon.
After washing one side he told me to turn it round but when I got in there was no power at all. He now thinks the battery has just completely failed as this can happen with modern batteries.

Oh dear Mel, having no battery isn't good, you'll have to buy a new one tomorrow now. At least your car is clean, well half of it, anyway.
Sorry to hear you had a bad night Frank, maybe you could have twin beds as you seem to sleep better on your own. So Ros has arranged her flowers now, I bet they look lovely.
I've just had an email off Anne, she has asked me to post it on here.
The reason I haven’t been on the thread is I have had a severe bout of depression, It all started when I saw a moving picture of Amy running through the forest with the headline Keep on Running. And everything I had been sad about just came to a head. All though I love Ruby and wouldn’t be without her, Amy was so special as she was our last dog before Peter died.
Sorry to be such a misery, please could you let the others know and I will hopefully be back soon.
Love from
Anne xxx
Hope you are feeling better soon Anne

D. O. I is just starting (FINE) But I do hate all the introductions and the Bl@@dy Audience and their clapping. It goes right through my brain and sets me off. Of course, IT'S my FAULT, Ros's words. I have no patients !!!
We had a lovely meal, choice of 7 meats inc. Chicken which is unusual. Massive selection of Veg. including Onions and Macaroni Cheese (again unusual) The place was packed, and more coming in on our way out.
Just watched the CHASE. and in between the Football. Spurs drew 2 all with Rochdale , where I was evacuated too in the war. So mixed support.
I will go and sit through all the CLAT TRAP that goes with these Programmes, and bite the bullet.

Just finished watching Dancing on Ice and was disappointed that Anthony went out, although he didn't do himself any favours arguing with the judges, I thought he'd go in the skate off after that.
I like the chase too Frank. It sounds like you had a very good choice for your meal, what did you have in the end?
How did your meal go tonight Jane, it sounds very tasty, although 12 cloves of garlic is a lot.
I've just seen the smallest cat/kitten on our bungalow roof. I went outside and heard a noise coming from next door, the old lady's side. She's still in hospital so of course I thought the worse and was about to call OH, but then noticed a little cat jumping off the fence, across our gate and jump up on the roof. The little thing looked over the edge of the roof towards me then turned around, jumped back down and went towards the front of the property. It seems very small to be out at night, I'm wondering if it might be a feral cat. It's raining out there and not very warm so I hope it'll be okay.
