Evening all,

Congratulations to Hannah Jane she has done so well and i'm sure the next year will fly by .
How did her weekend go at the farm , i bet it was a bit smelly with all the heat :-0
You were saying about Janice having to have her other knee done ,i remember you saying about all the pain she had with the last one so i can quite understand why she won't be looking forward to having the op .
I don't know if i have said but my BIL has to have another new Knee ,that will be the fourth op on that knee ,he had infection in the first new knee then the antibiotic filler was put in ,then the new knee and now he has to go through it all again ,some thing has moved in the knee joint so they now have to make a new piece to go back in as a standard knee joint won't work for him ,so he's now on the waiting list .

It's been so hot here again ,we had a lovely dip in the pool just after lunch ,i think we had about an hour in there and came out really cooled off and relaxed .

Hope all went well for Ian today .

Evening all

Frank we have induction hobs on our cooker, just as quick as gas and as responsive, but are you aware that a lot of pans won't work on them to find out if yours will be ok check that they have a magnetic bottom , I check with a fridge magnet. I wouldn't have anything else now so easy to clean and turns off if accidently switched on with no pan on it,We did have to buy a whole new set of pans because we didn't know the ones we had wouldn't work on the Induction hobs

Congratulations to Hannah, Jane, she must have worked so hard so it's well deserved and a very proud Mum & Dad,

You are lucky to have that pool Mandy, it has been so hot again here we haven't had any rain here for weeks now, my SIL who lives in Leominster had a terrific thunder storm with such heavy rain the drains couldn't cope with it sounds the same as what Gill had, When she got out of the car she was soaked and had to change all her clothes as did her son and his carer who drives the car since Bo's eyesight is very bad due to the Macular condition she now has.

We had a surprise visitor on Saturday, the phone rang and it was one of my BIL's
I thought he was joking when he said I'm in my car outside your front door. Ruby was OTT as she hadn't met him before but she did meet with his approval, which is good as he was Chief Inspector of the RSPCA before he retired. I think he liked her more than any of our Boxers

Morning all,

I have tossed and turned since four o'clock it's so muggy , i lay here listening to the birds, it looks a cloudy morning out there and i can see every where still looks dry so no rain over night .

Anne that was a nice surprise your BIL turning up on your door step ,does he live far from you ?

I think I'll go and make a cuppa and let Max out for a wee .

Morning Mandy, morning all

You were up early Mandy, there's nothing worse when you toss and turn all night, it makes you so tired during the day doesn't it? Hope you have a better nights sleep tonight.

How nice to see your BIL Anne, it sounds like Ruby was pleased to see him too. Everywhere is still wet after all the rain yesterday and they say we might be in for a bit more this afternoon, but not as much as yesterday. It's doing the gardens good so I'm not complaining, plus it's a lot cooler which is much better for me as I can't take to much heat, the weather has been a bit much for me at times lately. I saw on the news this morning we might be in for a hose pipe ban, so any rain will be welcomed.

I can understand Janice's worries about her knee op Jane after all the pain she was in last time. Hope things are better for her this time around. I did smile when I read your post about your education and marrying Chris LOL.

I don't have a Karcher window cleaner Mel, so I can't help you there. From what I've seen on the advert it looks really good though. OH cleans our windows, mind you I think the rain tried to clean them yesterday, it was like sitting in a car wash it was that heavy.

Morning all,

We have had some rain in the night but I don't know how much. I was up at 5am for the loo and I did'nt hear anything then but went straight back to bed and dropped off right away. Its cloudy out there now and a lot cooler as I had to put my shirt on this morning over my sleeveless top.

Shopping day again and it only seems I went a day or so ago not a week. The weeks are flying by and at this rate it will be Christmas before we know it!

Poor Janice. I remember what she went through with that knee replacement and all the weeks she was in pain. I do hope this time will be easier for her and shall be thinking of her.

So Anne you had a surprize visit, that must have been nice and Ruby enjoyed it too.

Gillx

Gillx Report 17 Jul 2018 11:28

How short are you having it cut Mel? Have you thought of donating your hair to people who make wigs for Cancer patients. I've heard of this happening and so long as you haven't had your hair coloured or permed they can use it. I'd love to see a pic if you have it done <3

Frank Report 17 Jul 2018 12:35

Afternoon all, Not quite so hot today. I felt too tired las night to do the watering, so did it this morning. NO SIGN of rain here. !!!

Ml the Kartcher (sp) window cleaner is wonderful. I wash the windows in water with a touch of Fairy Liquid, it takes any geese of the windows. I then drag the kartcher down the windows, it sucks up all th water and leaves the windows nice and clean. You will be so please with it I am sure.

Thanks Anne, we have been looking at a NEFF which comes with a set of saucepans for the Induction hob, worrh (THEY SAY) £120.00 I think Harvey has one, so will chat to him about it.

DONKEY years ago my mum had her hair cut short,(i was down to her bum) she gave it to my SIL who had it dyed blond and made into a hair piece, which she wore till the day she died.

Ros has gone out with Carolyn shopping. I had a phone call from the hairdressers to say she had an appointment for 11.00 am for a colour rinse. Ros had it on the Calender for 1.00 pm FRIDAY. I can see I will have to mark the calendar for her appointments as she is always getting them wrong. (OLD AGE) lol lol.

I hope everything went to plan for Ian this morning Liz, the later times will be better for you both.

Happy Birthday Glin or is it GLEN ?? I hope the rain has stopped so you can all go out.

Mandy, I could just see you two smashing around in the pool like a couple of kids. I would have liked to be a fly on the wall.. lol.

I have just had a nice cheese and pickle sandwich, with a nice cold beer to wash it down. BEAUTIFUL !!!

Liver, Onions, peas and mash this evening. Ros is at a garden party at 7.00 pm with the Mothers club. Margaret who is holding it, is doing cream teas for supper. So I don't expect Ros will want much dinner.

Turned very cloudy now, so I won't be sitting out. I will sit and read in my armchair.

Have a nice afternoon all.

Gillx Report 17 Jul 2018 15:06

OH said thanks Frank for his birthday wishes. It looked like rain again this morning so we decided not to out for a meal and I'm cooking him a nice roast lamb dinner instead. The sun has just come out, typical now the meal's on, but it's not very warm. He took the last of the rubbish down the tip this morning with it looking like rain, he said he wanted it out of the way before the bags got to wet and heavy and leaked in the car, so that's done now and after the meal we'll settled down for the rest of the afternoon. He was going to clean the patio but I said there was no point until all the garden is finished, I think he just wanted to use his new pressure washer Sandra and I bought him. Our flags go quite a way around the bungalow and down the drive so he'll have plenty to do when the time is right.
So you're keeping an eye on Ros's appointments now. I hope she made it on time for her hair appointment today.

Going to check on the meal, enjoy you meal tonight Frank.

Anne Report 17 Jul 2018 16:15

Happy Birthday to Glynn. Gill I hope he enjoys his birthday meal.

Frank that was a good offer getting the saucepans for free if you buy the NEFF it's a good make, mine is an AEG we chose it because it had to fit into our work tops so it was a little slimmer than most. I also did the watering this morning in case it got hot again, I feel much better in myself today very hot weather doesn't agree with me

Not so hot here today but still no rain, I am getting concerned about Toby as I haven't seen him for a couple of days although he maybe coming through the cat flap at night to eat, the food is being eaten but that could be just Shadow.

Mandy, My BIL lives in Horsham but he was on his way back to there when he decided to drop in. His 2nd wife is in Fortumentura where she often visits for a break he goes himself sometimes.

Jane Report 17 Jul 2018 17:23

Happy Birthday Glynn :-D Enjoy your lovely Lamb Roast tonight. Gill he is going ot have that Power Washer out before you know it LOL
So I am not the only one who gets appointments wrong then Frank. I hope Ros has managed to get another one. Is there a special person she has to do her colour or is she happy just to have any of the girls?

That was a smashing surprise Anne .Your BIL and Ruby obviously hit it off :-D :-D

So Mel it is actually going to happen???? (The hair cut) :-D. You have been saying for as long as I can remember you were thinking of maybe just having it trimmed a bit.
Go for it.It will do your hair good :-D
Fancy your SIL having a wig made out of your Mums hair.I think it is actually quite a nice idea :-D
Gill I too have heard that people with long hair who have it cut donate it for Cancer Patients Wigs.

Oh Mandy I am sorry that your BIL has to have another new knee .After all he has been through and being so ill when it was badly infected .I do hope that this will be the last time he needs an op . I won't tell Janice about him !!! That would really put he wind up her.

It's not quite so humid today . Bit of an odd day really with lots of cloud but then lots of sun too. They do say tonight should be less muggy. Hopefully you might sleep easier Mandy. I am thinking I might go in the spare bed tonight.Thomas is being a right pain in the night at the moment with walking all over our bed and my pillow and miaowing. I let him out at 2am this morning :-S I also think Chris has a painful shoulder (although he won't admit it) but I can tell and it makes him a bit grumpy so a night in bed on his own might be a good thing :-D

Gill are you in the area which is up for the Hosepipe Ban from the 5th August? I am really surprised we are still ok here as we have had not even a spit of rain for many many weeks now.

Thankyou all for your nice words for Hannah :-D.I can't believe I have such a clever daughter :-D. My Mum and Dad would be so proud of her . I just wish they were still here to see her achievements .

Anne if Toby is like Thomas it will be the heat keeping him out . They don't half make us worry !!!! I'm sure he will be fine.
Ready meals here tonight. Spanish Chicken and Rice for James and me and some Curry for Chris.
I know nothing about Induction hobs so cannot really comment on them . But hope you get the right thing you are looking for Frank. I just have 2 Halogen rings and 2 normal ones and an oven that needs a good clean :-S

We've had cloud and sun today too Jane and when I drove into Bideford it started to rain a little. Not enough to wet the ground though but enough to make you turn the wipers on a couple of times.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY GLYNN.
Hope you enoyed your day and dinner.

Oh has his curry for tonight with bargees and nnan bread and I am having spaghetti on toast cos thats what I fancy. I did'nt fancy chicken today as I have a nice chicken crown in the freezer I want this week.

Di called in this morning unexpectedly so we had a natter which made me late for going out. Never mind. Poor Di's cooker has given up the ghost and so has her microwave. She cooks on bottled gas and we tried looking for a gas cooker for her online but could'nt find anything near here with one that runs on the calor gas.

Happy Birthday Glynn i hope he's enjoyed his birthday Gill and the lovely Lamb roast .

It's been just comfortable heat wise here today ,bit of cloud at times but the sun came out this afternoon .

Oh no i wouldn't say any thing about my BIL to Janice Jane that would worry her .
Don't mention ovens my oven needs a really good clean especially the glass door ,i've been waiting for a cooler day to get it done i didn't fancy doing it in the heat .

Oh Mel are you going to cut your hair ? i don't think i've ever heard you say you've even had a trim if you have it was a while ago now , how much will be cut off ?

I hope poor Ian has had a better day today at the hospital ,it sounds as if he had quite a day yesterday waiting about because of problems with the machine so not a very good start to his treatment .

Good morning to you all,

I started posting last night, when the screen went BLANK and a notice came up saying it was "backing up" and would take 10 minutes. Needless to say I never went back to it. ;-) ;-)

All doors and windows open, it feels like it's cooler today. Ros came home last night, she said it had turned really cold sitting out at Margarets. She went straight in the bedroom, got undressed and put her dressing gown on. Most unlike her !!!.

Just looked at the calendar and we have NOTHING ON today. I know Barry will be calling this afternoon to do a bit in the garden. What are you all up to today ??

I must ring Harvey, to see if he has heard from LEWIS. We always like to know they have arrived safely.

I slept the sleep of the GODS last night. I was like a zombie at 3.00 am when I wanted the loo. Ros had to help me out of bed. All I said was "I AM ASLEEP" as soon my head hit the pillow again I was asleep until 7.30. I'm still not with it now. I expect my shower will bring me back to life. lol lol

I have measured the space the Induction hob will take up. I think the one I am looking at, will be a bit to BIG. so back to the drawing board.

Mel, Have you tried "CALOR GAS" for a cooker for Di. ?? I would imagine they would supply and fit them. I bet there is a depot within your area.

I'm off for my shower and shave, then in the garden to read, Oh what a life I have. ;-) ;-) ;-)

Morning all

Still a little overcast here with a bit of sun every now and then. OH is going to do a bit more digging in the front again today, there isn't much left to do but the ground is so compacted it's very time consuming. There is more forecast for rain on Friday.

Yes we are having a hose pipe ban from 5th August Jane, so we've decided not to bother putting anymore plants in the front until the ban is over, it's quite a way to walk with a watering can, so they can stay in their pots nearer the outside tap in the back for now, it'll make it easier to water them all.

Has Toby turned up yet Anne? Maybe you could keep Shadow in a separate room with some food for one night to see if Toby is eating the other food, at least you'll know if it's Toby coming through the cat flap or not.

Hope all is going well with Ian and his treatment Liz.

Have you found a new induction hob yet Frank? Pity the one you liked was a bit to big. I'm copying some information I got off a relative onto my tree at the moment, it's taking an age to do as there are 168 families to get through, I'm up to 109. They're all my relatives from Australia.

Good morning all

The weather is much the same of yesterday quite cool at the moment.

Toby is fine although hasn't been in the house during the day, Doreen my neighbour saw him sunning himself on top of her shed yesterday. She is the neighbour that feeds our two cats when we are away so I hope she isn't giving him food

Becky is off on an 8 day school trip today they are off to Croatia part of it will be in the mountains and forest so should be cooler for her. Richard's god daughter Holly has gone to South Africa for 4 weeks again another school trip. So different from when I was at school. I went to Paris for a week and Colin went to Germany on an exchange with a German student Stefan, his family were very wealthy, they owned a small island and his father was a jeweller to the Shah of Persia, this was in the early 60's and I was married by then.

Ruby is confined to the house at the moment as Mark next door is having his fence replaced and she could easily get out

Afternoon all,

Much the same here today cloudy skies with the sun breaking through now and then and still very warm. A slieght breeze now and then.

We had our church reader here this morning about the change in the day of the dog show. They changed it from the bank holiday Monday to the Sunday and never asked us if it was ok to use our field on that day. Sheila did'nt know we insure the field and its cost us over £400 so far for them to have the show on our field.

Poor Ruby confined to barracks but its best to be on the safe side with nxt door having the new fence.

I must get on with some HW now as I hav'nt done anything much this morning except feed the hickens and bantams and I have only just done that!!

Afternoon Everyone from another rather muggy day here. Its not so bad if you are still but you feel it once you get moving about. Chris has cut the front hedge this morning. His T shirt was soaked through with sweat :-S. He has just had a small bonfire and is now going to have a good shower.
The Poice Helicopter has been flying and circling around for ages.Much longer than they would normally do.So I don't know what all that is about.

Gill that is a good idea to keep your plants in the pots for now .At least you can keep them well watered until you know it is ok to plant them. Hopefully you might get plenty of rain up your way so then the hosepipe ban doesn't come into force.

I hope your friend Di soon managed to get a new cooker Mel.There must be somewhere that does some that run on Calor.Maybe she could get herself a new Microwave in the meantime.

I am glad to hear Anne that Toby is fine . They do make us worry don't they :-S. Ruby won't be pleased at being confined to barracks while the new fence is being done next door. But better to keep her safe for now.
School trips to S Africa and Croatia! .Becky will love Croatia and I am sure Holly will too enjoy her trip to SA. The only trip abroad I did when I was at school was a Ski trip to Austria. .I think it is wonderful that the children can have these amazing trips nowadays but they cost SOOOO much.It is the children whose Parents can't afford it I feel sorry for as they can miss out on great experiences.
Hannah went to America with the school choir when she was about 15 or 16. They went to North Carolina first and then down to Disneyworld where they sang too.
