So you're doing card games then Mel, that's the problem with games you get into them and everything else doesn't get done. Never mind there's always tomorrow. I don't think I'd like to do ironing in this weather though.

I went through some of my drawers and all the wardrobes last year and boy did it make a difference, the charity shops loved me Liz :-D I still have a few more drawers to do but that can wait until the winter, we tend to do the garden more in the summer and inside jobs on rainy days and Sundays LOL ........no raining days and winter months.

We're being bothered by flying ants at the moment in the kitchen, of all places, luckily there's not to many of them. It seems to happen every year no matter how many times we spray the area, normally it's only one day but this year it's been longer. OH said "Where's proper scruffy when you need him?". He's the blackbird that was eating the ants near the back door the other week and was trying to come into the kitchen. Thinking about it I haven't seen him for a while, I hope he's okay.
So Cas will hassle you if she doesn't have her run, she's so funny isn't she? How is she coping in this hot weather? I bet she's glad of the clouds to keep the temperature down.

I'm going to help OH in the garden now, see you all later.

Good morning to you all, I was up again las night at 1.00 am until 3.30. Would you believe I was eating a cream and jam doughnut at 2.00 am (I just fancied one). When I got back to bed I slept on top until 7.30 am. Boy was it hot last night. Ros has got the bedding in th W/M that will be ready to go out anytime soon.

The post has just arrived , Ros has an all clear on her CANCER SCREENING so that's great news. Also I ordered her twelve little butter flies hat you can stick on windows and they are recharged by the sunlight. Where sh will put them, I just do not know. :-| :-|

What a pity you didn't see the girls Mandy, but the fact you were there is all that matters. I am sure they were feeling very proud being in the parade. Lets hope you son got some nice photo's.

Gill, I haven't counted our pots, but you saying you have forty, I doubt we are far short. When I go in the the garden I will count them and let you know. We do have hem in ihefront garden under the lounge window, down the side of the drive, and on the patio and round the pond. So it could be even more than you. ;-) ;-) ;-)

I don't think I have every heard that expression LIZ, They say you earn something new every day. lol lol

I am always telling Ros not to iron my T shirts, but she insists on doing them saying "you aren't sitting around in an un-ironed shirt" There's not a lot I can say !!!

We had a lovely lunch yesterday, and I had a good giggle. When we arrived at 2.00 pm I said "I am EARLY" Andy the manager said, hallo MR EARLY I am ANDY. We both had a good laugh. !!! We sat outside under he canopy until our table was ready, which was in a nice cool part of the dining room. We them came home and crashed out in front of the fan.

I know most of you watch POLDARK. We record that and watch ITV The new series that started last week. The name of which I can't bring to mind. OLD AGE OR WHAT !!!!

I cooked myself a couple of rashers and an egg this morning. The bacon was inedible, and will be going back to Tesco on my next visit. It was as chewy with sinew that it was impossible to swallow. What a big disappointment .Spoilt breakfast. !!!!

I have done some ironing and hoovered up all those little leggy critters that I can see. swept the bathroom floor ready for washing it and wshed the bathroom and little loo mats. Oh has now come in and stopped all HW for a while. I am just having a well earned COC before the next job.

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 23 Jul 2018 12:35

Frank I don't think you have more pots than our Gill as I think she said she has 400 not 40.

Pity about your breakfast. I always go through all the packs of bacon and find nice ones. We liked smoked bacon and Morrisons Savers is quite good if you can find the ones with the nice round loin with a bit of streaky on the end. I grill ours and like the fatty bit all criped up and I save that till last.

By the way I like the smell of an ironed t shirt and usually iron all our t shirts as we only wear cotton and I also like to see it all in a tidy pile before being put away. Call me old fashioned or what I do love ironed clothes. The smell when you put on a fresh shirt is lovely.

Bunnyboo

Bunnyboo Report 23 Jul 2018 12:44

Oh well Frank, ironed T-shirts it is then!! There's not a lot you can do!, I only ever iron if we're going out or people are coming here! It wasn't always like that year's ago but even then I never in all my life ironed bedding, underclothes or anything like that!! These days I hardly iron a thing, just too much effort and OH doesn't notice one way or the other!! But each to his own and if you enjoy doing it then that's ok then. I do love the smell of washing dried outside!
Cas is fine in the heat Gill! It doesn't seem to bothered at all. She's got her doggy bath that she paddles and sloshes around in when she gets a bit puffed but apart from that she just lies around as usual!!
Our runners are doing really well against all expectations! We've had two good pickings with more to come!! Can't say the same for the carrots and spring onions! they're tiny!! garlic not TOO bad, red onions ok ish, Tom's fine but green!! Spuds pretty good!! Suns out so back to the garden!! Drawers can wait till later!!

Mandy there are some lovely photo's there. I expect like most newspapers, you can buy prints, if you like any of them. Will you buy any.??

It is a BLINDER OUT THERE. It's so HOT. Ros is a glutton for punishment. She is trimming up some overgrown shrubs.I have told her to leave them for Barry to do, that's why I am paying him. Will she take any notice, It's like talking to yourself. She just loves doing things in her garden. lol lol. I feel guilty sitting in the shade, reading my book. BUT I have prepared dinner for tonight. Roast leg of Lamb, Cornish potato's MY Runners, peas, carrots and broad beans, (for Ros) I am out of sweetheart cabbage or I would have done some.

I must had misread that information Mel. FOUR HUNDRED. Where the hell do you put all those, and in reality, do you need that many ??? I just can't compete with that Gill ;-) ;-) ;-) No wonder it takes so long to water them. :-0 :-0

Conrad moved into his new Villa over the weekend. He and Jan have been moving everything from the rented one, and th apartment, so hey are completely tired out. But as least now he can come home from work, and dive into the pool. It's times like this, when we all could do with a water feature to cool off in. I do have the pond. If I tried to get in that, I would never get out :-D :-D :-D

I have sent a complaint to Tesco regarding the bacon, so await their reply.

I am not watering until late tonight, let everything cool down a bit.

Stay cool.

Afternoon All
I think this has to be the wosrt day for heat and humidity .I had to make a make shift sweat band thing to stop the sweat dripping off my face whan I was making the Chicken Pie. :-S.
Chria has done nothing today other than iron a few remaining bits. This afternoon he has been snoozing and reading under the Bay Tree.
Great results for Ros Frank :-D :-D
I have really juat skimmed through ALL the posts today. There are so many !!!!!.

Mandy that was a fantastic carnival .I see it said there were about 10,000 people !!! ome of those who were dressed in those costumes where the head is totally covered must have been melting.
How lovely for Conrad to now have a pool to dive into after work every day :-D Lucky Beggar. I will be diving into another cool shower later. I only have a dress on and even that feels like too much. I held one of the fans up under the dress just now. That was bliss :-D Thomas came up the garden just now at a snails pace and flopped under the patio table. I see he is covered again in sticky burrs :-S :-S but it is too hot now to start the brushing.

Do any of you walk around barefoot ?. I hate it. I have tried today but just have to get my sandals back on. My Sister never has anything on her feet unless she goes out.
My sandals are off now whileI sit here and the fan is cooling them off.

I have an appointment next Monday with the GP about my Achilles Tendon.I felt it go several months ago but it is swollen and painful which is a pain as it is on the opposite side to my bad hip :-S Making walking even more difficult. I don't know what or if anything can be done. But I need to see

I have to get the Filo Pastry out of the fridge as it has to be out for 2 hours before using. I reckon an hour will be long enough with the heat.

Bunnyboo Report 23 Jul 2018 18:05

Yes I walk around the house in bare feet, and on the veranda but not any further! I've always done it only in hot weather though! I picked up a splinter the other day and OH had to remove it, so perhaps outside it's not a very good thing to do!!
It's been very windy here this afternoon, but it's died down now and is lovely outside on the veranda in the shade where we're having shandy before supper! It's cold ham, salad (again!!) and spuds from the garden, so no trouble at all!
I thought of you this morning Frank as I mowed the lawn!! First time for weeks! It look so straggly with miscellaneous weeds/stalks, looks a lot better now!! OH thought I was dotty!! ;-)
Cas is playing on the lawn with that wretched ring!! She never stops! She'll have to go in her crate in a minute to make her rest!!

Jane Report 23 Jul 2018 19:27

Achilles heel Jane? eek, that sounds painful!! Hope something can be sorted out to relieve it!!
We're trying to find a prog on catchup that we were watching on Saturday that we turned off because we were tired. As we can't remember what it was called, we're not having a lot of luck!! How daft can you be?! OH is determined to find it and is going through every channel under the sun, grrrr! Think I'll go back to my book!!

Anne Report 23 Jul 2018 20:14

I haven't done much at all today as it has been far too hot over 30 at one point.
Toby is back home now after fixing the cat flap he was still there next morning, he had lost a fair bit of weight so I know he wasn't being fed else where, he is eating well now thank goodness. It looked as Thomas had the right idea laying in the garden Jane

I am not a great fan of ironing either, I only iron Richard's best shirts and a few of my blouses other wise I don't find it necessary.

Pleased to hear Ros got the all clear Frank. Those butterflies will look so pretty on your windows. My MIL bought me some fridge magnets of butterflies many moons ago and I still have them now. Like you I have had real difficulty sleeping just lately If I do drop off it seems to only last an hour at the most.

Becky is enjoying her trip to Croatia but not the heat but probably not any hotter than here at the moment.

Mandy I saw the photos of the Dereham carnival everyone look so happy but I wasn't too sure which little girl was your grand daughter.

I do walk around the house bare foot but only when it's hot but not in the garden .

We are watching a recording of Guy Martin in Russia at the moment it finishes in time to se University Challenge then after Guy Martin again

Gillx Report 23 Jul 2018 21:36

Yes 400 pot plants Frank, some are very small which is why we need so many to fill the border with it being around 70 foot long and about 8 foot deep at the deepest part, then there is the new boarder along the back that must be about 18 foot wide and around 10 foot deep at the deepest part, we also have pots all around the bungalow and along the side towards the greenhouse, then even more behind the greenhouse before the shed. I only have two plants actually in the round everything else is in pots. I do have a few large pots at the back of the borders with plants almost 10 foot high, so lots of watering every day. I don't know how we're going to cope when the hose pipe ban starts.

All the new soil is in the new borders in the front, OH is watering it all now ready for the plants to go in tomorrow. It was really warm here today even though it was cloudy but we did have a slight breeze which was nice. It didn't stop me getting hot though so I had a lovely cool bath when I'd finished. Sandra helped me put the soil in the borders while OH went back and forth to the shop to buy it. It took us over 8 hours to do. I'm glad it's done now and we can finally make a start on putting in the plants.

Loved the photo on the website Mandy, there were a lot of people there? Enjoy Guy Martin, we've watched a few programmes with him in, he's such a daredevil isn't he?

No I don't walk around barefoot Jane, I have slipper socks.

Good new for Ros Frank. Pleased to see you had a lovely lunch yesterday, pity about the bacon today though, I don't blame you for complaining to Tesco's. It'll be interesting to see what they have to say for themselves.

So the hot weather doesn't bother Cass then Liz, that's good and having the pool to dip her toes in will give her some coolness if the weather does feel a bit to hot for her.

It looks like there's going to be a North South divide where the weather is concerned over the next few days. Up here will be a lot cooler than Down South. I noticed it's going to be around 34 degrees in London, I don't envy them that heat. With it being a bit cooler lately I've managed to get a few good nights sleep and feel much better for it.

I have had a good go in the kitchen today. I washed down all the window frames and sills and had evrything out from behind the sink and the pot with all my wooden spoon etc in. All washed down and then dettol anti bac sprayed. We get so many little tiny flies and the moths this year are awful. I think the pond being near the back door dos'nt help. I have put fly pen all around the windows and the pots of plants on the windsill as they all have little tiny holes in their leaves from tiny tiny caterpillas, the ones which take a big step with their front legs and then there back legs so they form and arch inthe middle. The plants also have greenfly so I wash them everyday killing the ones I can see.

I also washed the windows again as I had made quite a mess trying out the new window vac. The window in the diner I did while the sun was on it and I think it dried before I could get the vac on it in parts so it was a bit smeary.

Mandy I have emailed you.

Good morning to all of you lovely ladies.

Blooming hot here already, I was still awake at 1.30 and again at 4.30. I laid for a while trying to get back off, but without any luck, so got up and made tea. I opened all the doors and windows and read my book. (I have started the Frost's books) they are so good and similar to watching the story unfold on Tele. Some typical Jack Frosts comments, which has me smiling.

Ros was up at 7.00 this morning, she said it's too hot to lie in bed. I expect she will be out with Carolyn later. I was looking at the back lawn last night. Where it's in the shade by the fence nd big bushes, the grass is very green and needs a cut. That is something I might do while Madam is out.

I have taken walking around with nothing on my feet, it seems to help to keep hem cool. Jonathan walks around the street in bare feet, blow that, you never know if you will step on a piece of flint or gravel.

Gill, Why don't you take all the plants ou of the pots and plant them in the borders. Surely they will be easier to maintain, and easier for watering. Just a suggestion, and me being BOSSY lol lol. I know you like to move them around a lot, so get different colours in different places. But such a lot of hard work. Why didn't you contact a TOP SOIL COMPANY, and have a lorry load of earth delivered, just as good as the DIY stores and so much cheaper. HERE I GO AGAIN ;-) ;-) ;-) <3 <3 <3.

Jane, I can imagine how cooling it must be, having a fan blowing up your dress. Mind it doesn't blow it over your head !!! what a surprise that would be for Chris.

I bet the Pheasant is having a job, finding food for the babies in this weather Mel. It's so nice that you look after the wildlife, like you do. <3 <3

I see there is an AMBER warning out, telling everyone to stay out of the sun. Conrad rang last night, and said how hot it was in Murcia.

Our Lewis came back from holiday yesterday, we haven' heard from him yet. Julia flew off to the Holiday Caravan yesterday also. Lewis is flying out today, for a four week holiday. Harvey will drive out for two weeks, and bring them back in the truck. He makes different things outwit him, that they need, and leaves them here. I think this time he will be replacing the boiler, that has been playing up. He always finds something to do, as he hates just lying around idle. TAKES AFTER ME. JOKE, !!!

Nice breeze blowing at the moment so I will go out and enjoy it on my lounger. I was out there until 10.30 last night. With a couple of cold beers, Tony sat at his table with a book and a glass of RED.

Stay cool and enjoy your day. Watch that FAN JANE. lol lol xxx
