can anyone find this man either dead or on the 1881 his wife died in 1874 daughter probably married so I would think he would be on his own somewhere or dead

Thanks Dea he is not the Austin one found his probate wrong occupation.

I found a William Anstee in 1881 as a lodger but he was a gardener so not sure about that as he was a bootmaker on other census's

Yes, - I found him too Ja....x - didn't look like the one to me though! - I seem to remember he was classed as single and was with another male Anstee (can't remember his name). Can you connect him back to that other 'Anstee' ?

I have looked and cannot see him ---- see there was an Edward Anstee murdered ---- there are a lot Anstee s in Herts

I have just traced those two back not the right man so I think he must have died between 1871 and 81, you would think these unusual names would be easy....no they are not aghhhh

Dont know if I'm being stupid but the daughter Ellen is louisa Maria on the 1861 I cant see a birth for Ellen so it must be her??

Looks like I will have to get the cert when I get a debit card then 1861 census says her name is Catherine and she is older but there are so many mistranscriptions with this family I have ingored that one. Oh well thanks for tying
