our close friends came over from the Island on Wednesday for that Plant Auction I mentioned earlier. They stayed at a hotel near us (he is wide awake usually by about 3:30am and wants to get up then).

Just got an email from them

.......... rain and hail beating against the windows around midnight .... somewhat unnerving

......... transformer near the hotel blew up at about 3 am. No lights etc working, except for the light in the bathrrom. Leave the room to check out what has happened ............ other guests and the guy delivering papers to the rooms all agree, it's going to be a while.

So they decide to catch the 5:15 am ferry home .............. they're out of the hotel by 4 am, having to walk down the stairs, although only from one floor up. Have to drive through a massive rain storm on the way to the ferry ..... in the area where there is massive road construction going on (par for the course, I think!).


They got home by 8 am, having had a lovely warm fresh breakfast on the ferry!

And spent the rest of the day planting the plants they'd bought at the Auction .............. luckily we'd transferred those from our car to their car the night before, so they didn't have to lug them down from their room!

It all happened in the middle of the night!!




and yes, I think they were pleased to be home!


Thye've stayed at that hotel several times, it's very close to our house .......... and they've never had any problems before!
