Does anyone else keep posting messages only to find that they have disappeared ?? Or is it just me ?

I thought at first that I have probably pressed the wrong button and hadn't submitted but it has happened 3 times now ?

Hi everyone, hope you have all had a good Easter.

I've been busy but things have calmed down now......SO many eggs - my kids know I love Easter eggs so they seem to get them when they are on special offer.....multibuys etc......so I have ended up with 8 large eggs.....yummmeeeeee. Mind you, I did cook lunch for them !!!

Oh yes, my son had picked up a couple of things when out shopping the other day....just for us!......A tine of 'Senior Moment' mints for OH and a packet of 'Jellyatric' jelly babies for me. The 'Jellyatrics' consist of.....

Bill Bird (binoculars at the ready).

Mister Miser (penny pinching pensioner).

Pearl Stitch (speed knitting champion).

Frau Zimmer (legs like jelly).

Benny Dorm (Karaoke king of the Costas).........

So much for revering one's parents....lol

Glad you got your lemon tree sorted Dea.....don't forget, you have one very Special plant there.

I think I would prefer jelly 'babies' Cynths !!! - Perhaps that is just an age thing though !!!

We always used to bite their 'eds off first !!!

Yes, I DO have a rather special tree !!! - It is a Lemon Tree don't you know!! ???

At least for the next few years ! (tee heee) !!

One day I will tell her what it really is but not quite yet though !

That peel in hot cross buns.....yak

When I had my wedding cake made we had dates as a sub for that horrid peel

...all about moisture

SylviaInCanada

SylviaInCanada Report 24 Apr 2011 22:00

I looooooooooove the dried peel in Hot Cross Buns, AND in wedding and Christmas cakes

Unfortunately, fruit wedding cakes are not at all common here

J wanted an "English" style wedding cake ................ she went to several "confectioners" around town. Nope, they didn't "do" that kind of cake.

She was getting very discouraged ...............

Eventually someone told her to try the Bakery and Confectionery Program at the local (trades) College

They were absolutely delighted to do one!. They made 3 ckaes, but didn't put them in a tier ................ they lent us pedestals of 3 different heights so we could place the cakes in a sort of spiral. Decorated them beautifully. And it was all done by students under supervision.

The rental for the pedestals was more than the decorated cake cost!

Most wedding cakes here are sickly sweet Angel Food Cake, or "white" cake, or "yellow" cake .................. with a "chocolate cake" as the groom's cake ................... just as Wills is apparently having a Groom's Cake.

The icing is more like butter icing.

Have just got back from a lovely day out at Paultons theme bark in the New forest. It was a contact day for the whole family. J has been moved to a new home on Hayling Island. It was a long way to go but they allowed us the whole day. Every contact up til now has involved in us getting him back for 5pm. We were able to enjoy him without being rushed.
He was very upset when it was time to say goodbye thoughIt was quite a wrench.

LK

So glad to hear that you had a wonderful day out.

and it must have been great not to have a rushed meeting up with J

I hate to say this ............. but I don't think I have ever been to the New Forest. I've read about it, and have lots of friends who either live, have lived or visited there, and they all say what a wonderful place it is.

I must add it to the list of things to do next time we come over.
