Hi ja...x, just love parish records that's all. I find them easier than census to be honest and wish there were more online. Mind you, I'd have to fight past Sylvs and Renes to get a lookin as they like them too! If ever you have any I'll always have a go for you!

Think I might put some pics of my dogs on.....just to even up the score with your cat :P

I can't believe how much my messaging has gone down since the new look came in. It's great. I now only spend about 30mins whereas it could be up to an hour and a half! Mind you, people are still not reading the guidelines about replies and are still expecting GR to message them when replies come in...... :-(

Dea

Dea Report 9 May 2011 20:02

I have to say Cynthia that GR says that if you put threads on your watchlist they will e-mail you when a reply comes in !! ???

I have a couple of threads on there and it is NOT working !!!

Your messaging has gone down because no one is helping Cyn.

I could probably count on one hand how many threads I have helped on since the change over

and requests for help are appearing all over the place, with duplications

Cynthia

Cynthia Report 9 May 2011 21:21

People are still helping ja...x, it's the posters who don't return to see their replies who I get in touch with and, I must say, I can often see at a glance if they have returned because the name of the last poster shows and that's really helpful.

I agree it's quieter but, if you remember, it went quiet after the last changes and then picked up again.

Dea, we had a conversation about the email thingey last year and I think we both emailed GR about it. I hoped they would have altered their wording but they haven't :-(

Google home page is great today!

It is apparently Roger Hargreaves' 76th birthday

he's the guy who wrote the Mr Men books

Every time I go to google, there is a different Mr Men character!

you know how there keep being these threads about getting no replies to pms?

well, I think I'm going to add to the number of no replies!

Helped on a thread last night, others also helped

I think we more or less solved the problem

Now I've got a pm from the same person, asking me the same question all over again!

Cold and wet -1 degree overnight..car all frosted up and it's foggy as anything but do people slow down when they drive...no...result one bad accident and a 30 minute drive to work became an hour and a half!

Of cours eI know it gets a lot more colder where you mostly live but that is cold enough for me! I wanted to stay home in my pj's! :-)

In Victoria just at the bottom of a mountain range, it gets cold but it's Autum not Winter yet!

I think the upper areas have been getting snowfalls already and the bulbs in the garden are beginning to come up so they obviously think it is Winter too!

It always rains for me as soon as I wash the car...guaranteed!

I went to Melbourne many years ago so I take it you are not near there then? as the weather was pretty nice in the April I was there.

A friend on FB just spent a year in Oz and posted some photos of what I believe is a ski resort out there that he was working in at the time

Hi Grace

ja...x,

we spent 10 months in Melbourne in '75/76 ....... we arrived around the beginning of August, and I honestly have never been as cold as I was for the next 4 weeks!

We were assigned a university flat, there was one very small 2 bar electric fire, and that was it.

At least, when we lived in the UK, we could build a roaring coal fire (and then freeze when we moved away from it!) .............. in Melbourne we couldn't get any kind of heat from that 2 bar fire.

I had an 18 month old at that time

We had to take sheets etc with us, but didn't have enough for hose kinds of temperatures, so we were piling sleeping bags on the beds to try to keep warm at night!

By the time we returned in 1981, most people had got central heating AND air conditioning
