sorry, won't be joining the zoo, 'cos don't have any pets.

Mind you, I could post piccies of daughter's cats, especially the one in the suitcase, and the other under the Christmas tree!

One loves to be IN things, the other loves to be UNDER things!

If my paternal nan ever smashed anything she would deliberately smash 2 empty milk bottles or similar straight away...All things happen in 3s she said......Very true a lot of the time, but unfortunately they only made one Fan....tastic me..!

Anybody do the reporting of the opening post in this one? Briggs --

http://www.genesreunited.co.uk/boards.page/board/ancestors/thread/1265665

For pete's sake, the woman's father is *dead*, she has just added. His birthdate in the OP is hardly violating his privacy. Yeesh.

Can't put a pic of my cat anyplace. No camera.

But I had her as my avatar on one of my FB accounts. In cartoon version. ;)

Believe it or not, Ms Horse Swill at FB has one very like -- but not as good. Not as pretty or fluffy or thick.

http://sharonhorswill.webs.com/

Patsy's genes are Maine Coon, probably from the vicinity of my cat Tab who was originally a stray here and died about 3 years ago at about 12. (About 10 years ago there were two other young Maine Coonish ones I was taming, but failed. Fawkes, so named because of his fox tail, never came around; his smallest brother Little Guy ... get it? ;) ... got run over by a car just as he was starting to domesticate.) The genes accounts for the ruff and the thick legs and the playfulness / intelligence / timidity.

http://cat-chitchat.pictures-of-cats.org/2008_05_19_archive.html

for those who don't know Maine Coons.

They're the largest breed of domestic cat. Big Cat, whom we found in about 1973, weighed 25 pounds at his peak. He and Tab were classic brown-tabby-with-white Maine Coons, like the one that says "Maine Coon cat at a CFA cat show" at the cat-chitchat site above and the one that says "A common coloration of a Maine Coon is brown tabby" here:

http://www.popularpets.net/cats/pictures/maine-coon.php

You'd probably pay a fortune for one in the UK. Here, they wander the streets ...

Nothing funny about your figure at all ja...x - it's the effect that it's having on Jonesey that worries me!! Got your blood pressure pills ready Jonesey??? ;-)

Does the cat play with the baubles Sylvs? Is that what tempts her to go underneath?

JaneyCanuck

JaneyCanuck Report 12 May 2011 19:19

Now if the cat in Sylvia's pic had fur three inches long, and a big face with giant eyes, she'd be a Maine Coon!

There's just nothing like a brown tabby shorthaired cat, no matter how much I boast about my fancypants. They're the stalwarts of the cat world.

I hope you are not suggesting it was one of us JC

I have reported two in the past one that was looking for her 30 year old dad and one for s* but have no idea what that was about.

I like maine coons...well I like any cats really parents have had siamese for the last 30 odd years, and although I had one myself I would now rather have an ordinary moggy

The 2 cats are brother and sister, only the male is grey with a little bit of white. In certain light, it is possible to see that Zephyr has slightly darker grey stripes, while the girl Baghera has quite obvious stripings

They were bought from the local pet shop (I know!!) .............. Zephyr was the runt of the litter, Baghera was the one who took care of him.

Zephyr also has no brains :))))

C .

........ no, she doesn't touch the ornaments, she just likes being under there. I guess she feels safer!

JaneyCanuck Report 12 May 2011 19:38

Nah, jax, I just felt like venting. I report genuine privacy violations (I did ask the poster to remove the dob in that one, which she didn't, but it has turned out to be moot). I did just report the one in that thread that had posted a bunch of births in the 1950s, with the parents' likely marriage -- likely unrelated to the question. No sense, no thought.

Getting much too 'catty' on here! Time to bring in the dogs again ;-)

Sam was a wonderful dog we got from the dog's home. He was a great companion for my mum whenever we had to go out. One day, something scared him and he jumped straight onto her lap nearly squashing her to death......good job she was in her recliner and not her wheelchair or she could have sailed straight out of the window...........! lol

That reminds me....Janey...how's your mum?

1982
Hardy is in front and Chas is behind....See I have had cats....Hardy died aged 12 and Chas got run over when I moved from London to a quiet village in Somerset in 1986..
Hardy was most upset so I got him a canine friend..He didnt mind as long as he had a friend...Hardy was the nicest cat I ever had.......Never scratched, bit or swore, only yowled for help when the kids were little and were being horrid to him, like lying on top of him...I kept telling him to scratch them to make them wary, but he never would...

Had about 7 cats over the years, but cant have another till Bethany,Ishbel and Flora are gone, and that should be some years yet...

I have only ever had two dogs Brenna Long haired black shepherd and as a child I had Tuppy a shepherd/collie mix, but parents had him put down not long after my sister was born because they could'nt trust him.

Had they had got him done he may have been ok, but that did'nt seem to be an option in the 60s maybe the cost was too much or they were stupid? I had to bring it to their attention a couple of weeks ago to remind them he was my birthday present :-(
