Well, you all had a chatty time last night, reminiscing about the war !! - I, of course, am far to young to remember these things ;-)

So sweet of your grandfather to lend his shoes to his son for his wedding day, such a shame he wasn't able to be there himself !

Lovely breakfast again Sylvia, I am going to get mine right now before that Persie person arrives.

See you all later,

Dea Xxx

P.S. - cwgc.org site has civilian war deaths as well as military Ja...x

Nearly dinner time here and we will be having Bacon... hmmm Canadian Bacon...should I pinch that.

My mother was born in 1914 and she served in the Army and was in the NZ expeditionary forces and went to New Caledonia... they had to walk past the Japanese POWs every time they went to the ablutions block. Her claim to fame was dancing with the then Colonel Eisenhower before he went on to becoming a General and President of USA. If she had access to Ginny's outfit she might have moved things along a little. ... I don't think sohhhh!!

:-) Persie

Edit: that Dea was not there when I started to type and now look all the bacon has disappeared!!

Night Sylvs..... gotta rush before that Persie and Dea snaffle everything....Gannets, the pair of them!

I was born after the war - a Baby Boomer - that's me!

My mum and dad were in the Salvation Army and ran a mobile canteen on various airfields. Red Shield work it was called. They helped to care for some of the soldiers returning from Dunkirk.

My late father-in-law was in the Liverpool Scottish regiment but rarely talked about his experiences. I think the only thing he mentioned was something to do with the fact that on a mission somewhere, he and his mates were singing Silent Night and his best mate got blown up in front of him. In those days there was no counselling or anything like that....you had to get on with it. Dreadful to think about.

Think I may clear out the cupboard under the sink today.....just for excitement you understand. :D

Oh Ja....x - that's early !!!!!!

I am usually up quite early but it takes be hours to get myself awake and 'sorted'. - Not much use to anyone until at least 10.30 :D

You will have to make sure that you go to bed 'tonight' and not in the morning so that you can get enough sleep <3

Dea x

P.S. Did you find those wartime war deaths you were looking for?

Dea x

I can't believe you don't know this site Ja....x :

http://www.cwgc.org/

When it asks for the name of 'force' a drop-down box will give you the option to choose 'civilian'

Let me know if you have any problems.

Just be glad you could 'pinch one' from there Ginns to keep you on-line.

AND please do not be so nasty to 'our Cynths' - She is NOT old, - she might be a 'bird' but NOT an old one, more like a 'spring chicken' and she could be termed, more politely as just 'mature', like a good wine, or a good cheddar !!!
