Ohhh - Ginns you are a lucky person having a son like that!
Panic for me today - Picked little grand-daughter up from school, gave her tea and took her back at 5pm as it was the School fete.
Her mum met us there later with little grandson - going on 3 and a complete 'nightmare' (although totally adorable).
Well, we were all inside looking at the stalls (indoors because of the rain) and one minute grandson was with us - I blinked and granson was gone.
I called to his mum and his grandad and they couldn't see him either. - I thought I saw a glimpse of his coat going outside (bouncey castles were there and a football kicking 'thingy' which he had wanted to have a go at so I ran outside (well, walked as quickly as I could as I can't do 'running') I looked around them all and couldn't see him.
I went back inside and they had found him trotting merrily back down some stairs from an adjoining area.
It was only for a few minutes but my little heart was pounding and I am 'all of a wheeze' now !
Anyway - 'all's well that ends well', as they say, but that little boy needs an army of people to keep an eye on him - he is a real handfull !

Ah bless....they all give us scares like that dont they Dea
I remember no1 son...left him in the car (locked) for 2 minutes when the bus station was being re built and the next moment he was gone
Heart pounding, he was in the middle of the building site with a huge truck at his back, inches away
I cried for about an hour after I picked him up and hugged him
....my fault totally
Glad your grandson was found safe and sound :-)

Aw Dea......isn't it just the most awful feeling! So glad it all ended happily but poor you.
I guess we've all had some bad moments like that. It's not the same, but I actually overturned a pram with my baby son in it! It was one of those beautiful coach built prams (donated by a friend) and I was struggling to get it down a kerb.....oops....over it went...baby and all! He lived to tell the tale!
Another time, he stood up in his pushchair and toppled out - right on his head on a concrete floor in a shop!
Fortunately, he came to no harm on either occasion and has done a good job of grouting some loose floor tiles for me today ;)
Er Dea....it was me who mentioned pasta!
Snorting and wriggling all over the place? Sounds like our Fans. :-P

I think we all have had awful moments where one of our children or grandchildren are concerned.
My eldest was 4... we were at a vintage car show and it was held at an arena which is also a speedway of a Sat Night. We lost her, there were crowds of people there and thought OMG we will have to find an announcer. But no.... all the vehicles were parked around the arena so the middle of the field was free of people, my husband looked across and here standing in the middle was one little girl. He had told her if we ever get separated in a shopping mall etc to go to the middle and that was exactly what she had done. Has more sense than her parents.
My grandson was three and we were in the supermarket ... my OH my two older granddaughters as well... and I couldn't see him, I looked around, momentarily panic set in and decided to yell out and called.... Evan where are you... this little voice says ... here I is... he was right smack behind me, when I had turned around he stayed behind me. These other two women shoppers thought it was very funny.

My parents took No 1 son to stay for a couple of nights with friends of theirs up London way when he was about 2 and he was in the garden with them all playing "ball" with the goat when they realised he was gone...Search and panic and he was found in the pond.. ...floating...Lucky friend was a policeman who knew all the right things to do and he was fine after some back slapping and other stuff...I was not told for quite some time...! Then there was the time mother slammed her brakes on and he had undone his seat belt in the land rover (unseen)and he hit the door handle and door flew open and he rolled out onto grass verge...Lucky on a quiet country lane....That kid hasnt got many lives left I dont think...But he now knows what little beggers can be like as he has 3 of his own now and the youngest age 2 is a right little monkey and escape artist..

As my culinary skills are non existent I'm afraid that the only contribution that I can offer by the way of breakfast is:
Coffee
Cornflakes
Fags
I realise that this offering may not meet the expectations of some but it may help fight off the pangs until someone else better able than I turns up.

That was a very kind gesture Jonesey and much appreciated.
If you would like me to do you a nice bacon buttie to add to that, I will do so with pleasure - I am doing one for me anyway <3
1 cup of tea on the way for you Ginns, and would you like me to do you a couple of poached eggs on crumpets with lots of 'naughty' salt?
I thought Cynthia would be doing brekkie today?
Morning all,

Oohhh - thank goodness I had just cooked me a bacon buttie Ginns or I would have spent a fortune out there.
That reminds me of a breakfast I had many years ago at the Hyde Park Hotel in London.
I ordered scrambled eggs (costing an absolute fortune, I might add) - they were the most disgusting things I had ever tasted and I couldn't eat them. The texture was awful - it was as though they had put whole eggs, including shells into a mixer and ground it all up then cooked it - it was really 'gritty'
Anyway, I shan't be going back there again.

Dea,
Thank you for the offer of a bacon butty, I will settle for that as the prices of the delicacies offered by The Dorchester are a little too rich for my pensioners pocket.
I was tempted by the American style pancake with blueberry compote as that reminded me of the breakfasts I used to enjoy in the US. Mind you the cost over there was considerably less. When I was last there (2007) a small stack (3) of pancakes with choice of filling, my favourite being cinnamon apple, and endless cups of coffee cost about $4.99. Sides such as bacon, sausage patties, 2x eggs ect cost about $1 each extra.
Gin,
I don't "Do" tea. If you had ever tasted the tea that I brew you would understand why.

1 bacon buttie coming over Jonesey >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
and I have added a couple of apple + cinnamon muffins left over from yesterday for your 'afters' - they are still quite fresh. You mentioned you enjoyed that combination as a filling for your pancakes.
Enjoy...........
