Evening! Interesting "hearing" about Aspergers/autism - I work sometimes with a chap from our IT department who has Aspergers - he had me read a book called "The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night". Although it's a novel, it helped me understand.

I have mild OCD, mine's colour related. I have to match things up. The worst is hanging washing on the line - the pegs MUST match (or tone) with the item I'm hanging. And I can't have two items next to each other with the same colour pegs. I have to tip my peg bag out onto the path so I can find the right colours (I buy a lot of pegs so I have plenty of choice).

If Mr C hangs washing out he doesn't do it right and I can't settle until I've been out and rehung the washing.

I can't have more than one type of food on my fork and eat one thing at a time on my plate.

Is it me or has this site died on it's arse a little....

Having had a look about we've rapidly become a chat site that happens to do Genealogy help, rather than as it used to be, a Genealogy site that has a few people also chatting.

Hmm....

Thanks Gins.... :-D

Hi Trace........ thought you wouldn't mind a bit of mud??

Good heaven's I seem to be turning in the Autism Advice Centre on here!

Dea, that wouldn't surprise me. A lot of people on the spectrum are very intelligent and hold good jobs.....but you usually find that they have difficulties with relationships and with everyday situations. Einstein, Mozart, Michaelangelo are supposed to had the condition. Also Bill Gates apparently.

MC, I started that book but couldn't finish it........too emotive I think.

Sylvs, AS sufferers are not usually very tactile and tend to go 'rigid' if approached for a hug. However, when they want a hug you are supposed to reciprocate immediately!

Here is the link bossy boots is on about:
