Gin,

I did take a look at your Tom Ashton post earlier but I came up with nothing I'm afraid.

I checked the usual, SSI index, Massachusetts marriages, Naturalization (I know that you like US spellings) records, US obits, World War 11 Draft Cards ect.

I checked the US 1930 census just out of curiosity to see if there were any clues. Under age at first marriage Tom has recorded 16. Edith has recorded 38 which if true would mean marriage c1923, the year that she immigrated into the US.

I know it's a bit boring but I just wanted to say that I have been out shopping again to the local Town with my new shopping trolley! (Ist time after the day that I bought it).

I got all the things I wanted, all by myself, and managed them back to the car and home.

OOOhhh - there is no holding me now !!!

Thanks for brekkie Sylvs, but am spilling croissant crumbs all over my keyboard :(

You are so lucky - wish they would bring out the Buckinghamshire records like that.

Cool and damp this morning but, apparently, it's going to be a scorcher tomorrow!! I hope it's not too hot though........never satisfied are we??

The weekends tend to be quiet round here - no doubt some noisy person will be along soon........... :-D

Dea

Dea Report 25 Jun 2011 08:43

Yes Cynthia - the weather is not too good here at the moment but I hope they are right about tomorrow as I am relying on their forecast.

I have invited everyone over for a barbacue and the grandchildren are excited as they love our little paddling pool.

Goodness knows what we will all do if we have to stay inside - there will be chaos !! :-(

Jonesey

I think Tom Ashton was married before as I can see him on 1920 census with wife (cant remember her name) so that would account for the age at first marriage for both of them

Dea......do you need a license for that trolly. Watch your speed!

Mushed eggs for breakfast please Syl...on wholemeal toast....yum

Can you have a look at this record and read where Joseph was born. I have my own idea and it was not what has been transcribed

Im trying to find him on the parish records

1851 England Census
about Joseph Crossley
Name: Joseph Crossley
Age: 56
Estimated Birth Year: abt 1795
Relation: Head
Spouse's Name: Sarah Crossley
Gender: M (Male)
Where born: Wooddale Hotington, Yorkshire, England

Civil parish: Huddersfield
County/Island: Yorkshire
Country: England

Registration district: Huddersfield
Sub-registration district: Huddersfield
ED, institution, or vessel: 11
Neighbors: View others on page
Household schedule number: 78
Piece: 2295
Folio: 269
Page Number: 31
Household Members: Name Age
Joseph Crossley 56 <<<<Tailor
Sarah Crossley 45
Sam Crossley 17
Sim Elam Crossley 13
J James Crossley 11
Sarah Crossley 7

Edit:

And where the heck is this!

West Yorkshire, England, Baptisms, Marriages and Burials, 1512-1812
about Joseph Crossley
Name: Joseph Crossley
Birth Date: abt 1792
Baptism Date: 14 Jul 1792
Parish: Luddenden, St Mary
Father's name: Joseph Crossley

Im thinking he was born Holmfirth. I just need to be as sure as possible that the baptism is the same Joseph as on the census!

Any thoughts.....thanks

HI there T

Are you wanting to help other members with their research? If so, just do some of the research and post on their threads with wht you have found

You can keep an eye on the thread by checking 'My Threads' which is located towards the bottom left of your screen

Does that help?
