Daughter gone back to her SIL's this arvo..her blood test results not perfect but a lot better and her BP is back to normal...

This is what she put up for everyone on Facebook:

"Happy Boxing Day! This week I thought I would try out Palmerston North hospital, admitted yesterday (yes, Xmas day!). I did get to leave & be with everyone at xxxxx's in the arvo & when I returned they gave me some Ham & Pav so there was some good in the day. And at the mo this is the best place for me.

I also bring the average age in my room down from 82 - I'm comparatively bouncing around like a spring lamb."

Further down the page she put:

" Making myself fairly useful this morning to the other ladies by opening butter, getting tissues and picking up Xmas cards that have blown over :) "

"Now ascertained that average age was actually 76 and I've lowered it to 56 "

and tonight:

" Home (sort of) from hospital and relaxing with a cup of tea and a tramadol haze :)"

So they haven't eradicated her sense of hunour.. :-)

Jonesey

Jonesey Report 26 Dec 2011 09:24

Mornin all,

Funny sort of day, Christmas day. I rose at 5:00am but no sign of visitation by Santa, had a bath (Well it is Christmas), looked in at GR but not much going on as most folk were probably opening their pressies. First wave of family, daughter, her ex husband and one granddaughter and 7 Yorkshire terriers arrived at 1:40pm. They were due to arrive at 1:00pm but nothing lost as Mrs J is not renowned for having meals ready at the time she says they will be. I suspect that a pattern has developed over the years. Guests arrive late because they know the meal will not be ready on time, Mrs J knows that guests will arrive late so delays the food preparation. Taken to its conclusion one year Christmas lunch will be served on Boxing Day.

We were eventually called to the table at 2:55pm so missed the Queens speech once again (Apologies Ma'am). The usual Christmas fayre was served, turkey, beef, gammon, boiled potatoes, roast potatoes, every vegetable known to mankind, variety of sauces and Bisto gravy. Once that was seen off the dessert course arrived, Christmas thud (Not a misprint), mince pies, custard (Only Bird's custard will do), brandy butter, brandy snaps. All washed down with an assortment of wines.

The second wave of guests, granddaughter, her boyfriend and great granddaughter arrived at about 4:30 by which time the earlier guests were either asleep or rubbing their distended bellies and moaning (The result of quantity, not quality). Is it any wonder that the TV companies usually show rubbish programmes on the afternoon of Christmas day, nobody is awake or in a fit state to watch them. Santa arrived and distributed presents at 6:00. I always find it amusing watching others saying, "Just what I've always wanted" when they are thinking, "What in God's name did they think I wanted one of those for". This year of course 12 week old Lexi was the recipient of most gifts. She now has a larger wardrobe than Suri Cruise's and more character dolls than Disney.

Then came the television fiasco, when switched on the one in the lounge had a wonderful picture but no sound, panic. "But we will miss, Dr Who, Strictly, Downton ect". End of panic when I said that they could watch them on the TV upstairs. Probably my best move of the day as they all vacated the lounge leaving me to have a kip on the sofa.

From about 5:00pm Mrs J had been enquiring at regular intervals, "Anyone ready for tea yet"? This enquiry was met with an assortment of responses the consensus being, "Not just at the moment". "Tea" was eventually served at 9:00pm. Why is it that a hostess expects that on Christmas day, her few guests will need to consume the quantity of food that on another day would satisfy the requirements of a small town? It baffles me but Mr Sainsbury, Mr Asda and Mr Tesco must be very happy with the idea.

It's lovely when the family come to visit but it's also lovely when they decide to waddle off home before they explode.

Joy of Joys, I am now informed that because there was so much food left over that they are all coming back today for tea which is to include a turkey curry.

Bah Humbug!!! :-)

You have a very amusing way of relating the day's events Jonesey!! - always wonderful to read 'one of yours' <3

Sounds like you all had a lovely day then - AND you have the added bonus of being able to 'do it again tomorrow' (i.e. today when they all come back for tea)!! - You MUST have enjoyed it then ;-)

Mrs. J deserves a medal for all that work - I hope she had some lovely well deserved prezzies!

Morning all.

Thanks Persie........I just can't resist those sausages wrapped in bacon. Your daughter has obviously inherited your sense of humour - which is just as well given the circumstances bless her.

So how did you manage to rig the sound on that TV then Jonesey? Is it working normally again now?? ;-)

Turkey curry and all that leftover food.....sounds like Persie had better pass that Panadol over.....sharpish!

My son posted on FB.......Dear (firm where he works), could you please arrange for next year's December salary to be paid directly to Tesco's please. Thank you.

My daughter, with characteristic Asperger's subtlety, looked at some of her gifts and informed us that they would be going onto a bring and buy stall somewhere......... :-S

I like Boxing Day because I never feel guilty about being idle...... :-D

Persephone Report 26 Dec 2011 10:39

It is a very clever host that makes certain that the sound does not work on the TV... and gets an A for such an excellent rendition of Christmas day at the Joneses...
All that and Bisto gravy... ;-)

I don't think I could ever keep up with the Joneses... :-)

Not ONE of them thought of OUR garage.....Honestly some people are soooo easy to wind up..!

By 5pm one could not hear oneself think.

Twins and Mr H are running riot with Xmas Eve prezzies...Radio controlled cArs....Locks door and turns outside light on for them just as I said I would...NASTY Granny...Bed for them at 7pm and down to some serious Sherry and wine sipping...Well one just has to try them out to see if they are fit for Christmas day.. ;-)
5.45 am a child arrives in bedroom and says...Nanneeeeeee I cant get this bus off the stand thing to play with it....Nope says I,looks lIke its an ornament for your shelves to me..
Answer..Silly Santa ,Im throwing it in the bath toy box as no good for here.!

Phoebe is screaming again at 6 am and twins are whispering LOUDLY.Daddy got up...Phew..
An hour later Granny and Mummy surface in search of asprin to kill off the after effects of Sherry and Wine tasting and loud children....Man stays in bed ,rolls over puts headphones on and listens to music....Grrrrrrrrr

Mad, noisy, busy day....All kids in bed by 7 pm again with Phoebe still screaming about her teeth...CALPOL gallops to the rescue via her mouth..

NOW THEY ALL GORN TO SOMERSET....Yipppeeeeeeeeee.

Quiet times for 2 whole weeks....

Last thing heard from car as it drove off....Shriek scream...Stop the car...Where my PUTER?????Need my puter.

OOOh Fans - you deserve a couple of weeks rest!!!

How was Mr. H when he left with the others? - Was he happy to go off with them and leave you behind?

It must be very confusing for him at his age - I hope he settles when he gets back home with all the noise and the other children and not the 'induividual' attention he gets when he is with you.

Enjoy your break!

Yeah Dea we had a good day and not quite as daft and late as last years!

Cooking dinner was a breeze with an oven that works :-D

Still coughing, me less so now, as I have had it 2 months. Meds seem to have stopped JBs from getting worse which is what I most worried about. No2 son, think he is coughing a little bit less

Dea
He was not too sure wether he wanted to go or not but the lure of Santa having called at Mummys house and dropped some prezzies off there as well did it.
Gets in hhouse, rips open prezzies and THEN asks if he can go home now??

I explained AGAIN on Skype that I would pick him up after a lot of sleeps to be back here for when teachers open school again after THEIR holiday...

He will be fine and he likes the revamp of his bedroom there...BRIGHT RED an DARK BLUE painted walls ,his choice of colours, with glow in the dark stickers .

Sounds loverly...Not..

Dea

Dea Report 26 Dec 2011 17:04

Awwww - bless him!!

I am sure you are all doing the right thing and certainly for the very right reasons. BUT - It does need careful handling 'coz it is very confusing for a 'little one' !

I know that he will be fine as you all love him and will make very sure that he is !!

Enjoy the break - It will be over before you know it !!
