Oh yes, and the similarity in looks between Queen Mary, our Queen and Princess Anne is outstanding. Very strong genetics in that family.

Just heard

OH's cousin died a short time ago.

OH will be going back ............. but we have to wait until, possibly tomorrow, to find out what arrangements have been made ..... ie, when the service or memorial will be held.

RIP Maggie

Hi Grace

Hope all is well today?

No ....... I'm not going back. He's only going to go for 7 days, and that quite honestly is too short a period for me to be able to recover from what I know is an uncomfortable flight .......... and we can't afford business class for such a short trip.

Even travelling economy will cost him over $2,000 for a 7 day return trip (or around £1,000)

We had been hoping that Maggie would hang in there for several months, but the end has come very quickly, in less than a week.

We were only talking over the Christmas break about possibly going to England in either June or September for 3 or 4 weeks ................. seeing her, and other friends, plus parts that we have never seen. Also, my childhood friend has moved back from Australia (near Mudgee) to live with her sister in Ireland.

B is also in bad straits ....... she has Parkinsons, but has also been bed-ridden for several months for some reason (she hasn't said what) ............. and we would take the opportunity to go over and see her. We last saw B in Mudgee in 2006.

Hi Sylvia,

It is a shame air travel is still so expensive..well it still is here and it doesn't sound cheap from your end either. I know when my brother died overseas and the children had to get to him quickly before the life support was turned off, the airline knew they were desperate and charged them $5.000 each to travel. luckily their grandparents paid and managed to recoup some of the money back after contacting the airline and making a complaint.

Was your OH cousin in pain or anything like that to make her pass so quickly?

Grace

This is a busy week for travel .................. part of the High Season .... so that is one reason for the fares being so high.

She was stoic, and always had a very positive attitude ..................... and had been having radiation and then chemo since June in an attempt to lengthen her life.

Re pain, ................ TBH, she never actually said, but I think she must have been. OH spoke to her on Tuesday last week, and he said her voice had definitely altered.

Sylvia I am sorry.

It was very quick.

My other colleague has her Dad's funeral Thursday morning.
My daughter will leave work early to collect S's daughter and her sister's son and take them to her house for a sleepover.

A very late start on here for me today.....and I missed brekkie.... :-(

Sylvs, so sorry about Maggie and am disappointed you are not travelling over with OH. I was about to make plans for meeting up :-(

It's been blowing an absolute gale here today. So many plant pots blown over on our little patio. I had a battle getting from the garage to the back door!

Naughty Persie....I had forgotten about that little 'rhyme'. ;-)

Just to let you all know I may not be around much for a while. It seems we had a power surge in the night and my computer was dead this morning. The monitor and speakers still had power. I need to investigate what the problem is.

Play nicely. ;-)

Cynthia Report 5 Jan 2012 16:57

Of course we will play nicely.......no sign of Fans!

Off to get a meal.

Gee

Gee Report 5 Jan 2012 17:44

LK you need power surge proof sockets.....

I thought the roof might blow off last night it was so bad and you bet the insurers would find some excuse not to pay out

Been out with JB, lunch, Meadowhall (Meadowhell) and then went to order a new sat dish. As we got into the shop JB starts saying we need a sat box......derrr I say we have an HD tv with freesat built in, we just need a sat dish

......he goes quiet and looks at me as though Im some sort of numpty, I assure him the tv does have freesat built in and thats why we paid more for the buddy thing.....could tell he thought I was tim but dim

Gets back home, pulls out the tv spec..............Sony Bravia Full HD with built in FREESAT no set top box required

And I thought women were supposed to be........no, Im not saying it

Edit: forgot say the person serving us was a woman and we agve each other the 'woman to woman' look ;-)
