The movie I am thinking of is the 1939 version with Robert Donat and Greer Garson.....that'll be the one Sylvs saw when it first came out!!!! :-P

I remember about Charlie too Trace. It was a very sad time for all the family. <3

2011 I reckon will be my most "memorable "year.....Sadly for many, many sad reasons(The happy pills DO help a lot.:)) but 2 good ones...New granddaughter Phoebe born in May and Mr H (grandson)coming to live here on Nov 1st

Second thoughts....Is that a good thing when awoken rudely so often at silly Oclock by him?????

Then again 2001 will never be forgotten after losing my much loved stepson suddenly at age 16.

Off to ponder that one in my nice warm bed with some wonderful memories to treasure...~~~~

Luverly to see you Trace..(((t))))

Happy New Year and all that stuff to all...Cant be much worse for me and mine loved ones anyhows can it...??? :-D :-D :-D

I think it might have been Tea and Sympathy that I'm thinking of.

Persephone Report 7 Jan 2012 06:45

I think my years all just rolled along .. nothing stands out as being better or worse than another..

Today here in NZ, five couples went for a balloon ride - for one couple it was a Christmas present from their children.. it is believed the balloon hit a power line and caught fire.. All eleven people died... not a very good start to 2012 for their families.

We were out when we heard it on BBC news on the radio..

Horrific really, don't know who they were yet..

We should be getting breakfast for you this morning Sylvs.......given yer age and everyfink. ;-)

I'm going to try those Cheddar chive rolls.....thank you.

The wind got up again last night and it's still blustery.

Persie, I just read about that accident on my home page. It was dreadful. Those poor, poor families.

The first film I think I ever saw at the cinema was The Ten Commandments I think - it seemed to go on for hours. And hours.

The first film I saw with OH was The Sons of Katie Elder with John Wayne. Yep, he's a true romantic is my OH ;-)

When we got married in 1968, we didn't have a car and the trains were on strike. Our honeymoon was to be at Durdle Door in Lulworth. We had to travel by coach to get there. Unfortunately, we had several hours to kill between the afternoon reception and the overnight coach start. So......what did we do????

That's right. You've guessed.

We went to the cinema to watch The Witchfinder General!! :-S :-S :-S

We couldn't even get seats together but I still sat there in all my going away outfit - shocking pink dress and coat with navy blue pill box hat and matching gloves and shoes. Plus confetti.

Those were the days. :-D :-D :-D :-D
