Hi Dea - I do REALLY hope so.........

House going on the market within the next few weeks [I am told that folk start looking again come February!] and hopefully will sell fairly quickly [keep your fingers crossed for me] Once I have bought a new home I will be able to think about whether I want to fight for more [for the childrens sake] or save my sanity and just live my new life!?

I hope that selling the house wont be too dragged out!! :-S

Oh - I am SO sorry Trace!!! My deepest sympathy to you and your partner.

What a terrible day to die for those who are left behind [well ....and not too good for those who die] as it will always be remembered on this day when we are all supposed to be cheery and happy!!!

My sister died about 10 days before Christmas - oh ages ago now [about 1980/1] but Christmas has never been the same for me since then. You dont forget!!!

I think I would have to say 1967 was the most memorable year.

There have been lots of memorable ones, but that was the year we married, and moved to the US (and then up to Canada one year later).

Leaving the UK was probably the best decision OH made ................ and deciding to marry him after he'd made all the plans was the best decision I made. :-D

Life has been so good to us over here ....... we've achieved such a lot more than I ever dreamt I would, or OH thought he would.

Of course, there are some things I/we miss about the UK ............. but only a few :-) :-)

OH would have been teaching high school, probably a Public School

now there was once a play and movie about a housemaster's wife ....................... if I could only remember the title :-D :-D :-D

Oh - lets not get all sad!! - what can I tell you that is funny???

Today an agency worker was leaving to go to a permanent job. We bought him vouchers to the value of £20 - at the last minute - and were trying to raise the £20. I asked our top manager if she would like to contribute and she did - making the comment that £20 was alot for someone who had only been with us for 4 weeks. My friend said that it was nothing to do with length of service but popularity!!! I said to her that in that case me and her would be likely to receive nothing when we leave - but then turned to my manager and said that if this was the case then when she left she would owe us money!!!!! [I am SOOOO loved by the management!!! - you can imagine!!] lol

:-D :-D :-D :-D

you'll be in trouble soon!

The play and movie I'm thinking of .............. the housemaster's wife used to have the "boys" to tea, and then "educate" them

Not sure that is me ........... I'm not into much younger men :-D

I am always in trouble Sylv - they dont like me anyway so what I say cannot make any difference [anyway it is a chance to get my own back on them - in public!! lol]

I am sure that this is Mr Chipps - didnt she die not too long after she married him and he was left to do the housemaster job alone?

lainie39

lainie39 Report 6 Jan 2012 21:36

and .... they used to sit in the master's lounge with flowers and tea and they used to toast crumpets and bread on the fire???

oh ... and didnt she arrange for a girls school to attend a dance so that the boys could learn how to dance with a female partner?

SylviaInCanada

SylviaInCanada Report 6 Jan 2012 21:41

Don't think it was Mr Chipps

.......... 'cos that movie was about him, and his wife does not entertain the boys
