How VERY rude Ginns !!!

Was that the 'Fawlty Towers' Restaurant by any chance?? - If not, you should 'name and shame' and find a site where you can post a review !!!

Such bad service deserves to be highlighted !

Many years ago I went to a VERY posh restaurant with my husband - paid for by his Company as a reward for something or other.

I had some white wine - I can't remember the details but after a sip, I could tell that it was 'corked' !!

I quietly called the waiter over and mentioned this and he loudly said something like 'Modam is obviously not accustomed to fine wines" - I equally loudly replied that 'Modam was very much able to recognise the taste and smell of a mouldy cork " !!.

He scuttled away with the bottle and came back with a much more palatable one!

Love it Jonesey......that will be passed on........ ;-)

Gins, I was always told that a high quality restaurant did not have salt and pepper on the table because everything was seasoned to perfection :-S

It's been horribly foggy/misty here today...........I really must find out where my fog light switch is :-D

Shame about Whitney Houston - great voice. We are just watching Bodyguard - it's one of OH's favourite films........... :-(

Who's perfection is that though Cyns...............no business ever made money by proving a customer wrong ;-)

We've been before Dea, its called 'Kitchen' on Ecclesall Road Sheffield

Mark treated us to a meal there last summer and we took some friends last night. Service as you know was pants and the food wasnt up to much either, unlike our first visit

The same waiter came back to us at the end of the evening (I think he was maitre d) and apologised for not talking to us during the course of the meal, he said he had been busy with another table and made some remark which I know was disparaging but I didnt quite catch it all

Dea, a cider swigging scrubber can tell when a bottle of wine is corked!

Is you calling me a "cider swigging scrubber " Ginns ??? :-S :-0 :-( :-(

Apparently, it was something to do with it being an insult to the chef Gins?

Says a lot for my cooking then. My son has a half a bottle of ketchup on nearly absolutely everything!!!

'REAL' chefs should appreciate that everyone's tastes are different and should know how to cater for them all !!! ;-) <3

Hello all!!!

Glad you have received good news Syl!!! :-D

Yes Dea - I am naughty cos I just posted and ran!!! No I havent sold my house yet - it will go on the market as soon as this cold spell is over! I have got my photos ready [2nd time since the computer crashed!] so we are ready to rock and roll!!!

At times - I get quite excited about having my own place - and at others I am terrified of whether I can manage the bills!!! I dont want much, but I would like to be able to manage the bills etc on my wages! I do worry though!!

I hope you are all OK?

Cynthia Report 12 Feb 2012 20:22

Hi lainie......we wondered where you had got to!

Fans........I have never admitted to anything other than being a lousy cook :-P

lainie39 Report 12 Feb 2012 20:26

Ginns - my understanding is that chef's cook without seasoning and that you add seasoning to your own taste at the table.

I think that they are all a bit up their own a#ses - and maybe trying to justify the prices they charge by being 'excentric'????

No - I wouldnt go back to a place like that either - cos a GOOD chef and waiter would appreciate that all their customers have different tastes and wouldnt question this.

................ so I have made up OH for the 4th time, and sent him off to drive out to the theatre (and home later)

.............. keeping fingers and toes crossed that he doesn't get stopped by a man in blue, and have to explain why he has tannish foundation, black eyebrows, black eyeliner on upper and lower lips, and black lines from side of nose down to upper lip

at least he doesn't have to have blush on this time
