Gins

I used to make chili a lot. J started eating it as a baby, no problems.

We went to Australia when she was about 15 months old.

I decided to make chili one night soon after settling in, and bought all the ingredients.

Made the chili, and gave some to J.

First mouthful .............. she pulled a face

Second mouthful ............ pulled a worse face

Third one ............... she spat it out!

Had never done that before ....................... so I found her a piece of bread, and a dessert.

THEN, we had it for our dinner .................... it was sooooooooo hot that we couldn't eat it.

I had to buy an equal amount of all the other ingredients, and cook it all up again before we could eat it.

The Australian chili powder was at least 2 times hotter than what we were used to.

I did feel a little more comforted when the Kashmiri couple in the next flat also complained that it was hotter than they were used to, as well!

Thanks Jonesey, I'm glad I wasn't hearing things and yes, I guess they pay for the instant service.

Now Gins....when do I think of Fans?

urm.........er........well............probably when I have earache........ :-D

The nearest I get to chili is when eating a packet of sweet chili flavoured crisps.......... :-D

So.......the firemen!

Anytime between 6-9pm I was told.

Son arrives at 5.55pm to have his tea and take the grandchildren home.

Imagine his surprise when, no soon than he sits down at the table when a fireman and 3 trainees walk into the dining room. His face was a picture :-D :-D

I hadn't had chance to warn him and they knocked at the door within a minute of him arriving.

No hulks........ :-(

One fireman who certainly wouldn't squeeze through a narrow space, and the others were young volunteers.

I answered a few questions, he checked our fire alarms - one of which was in the wrong place apparently - both were replaced free of charge.

So that's my excitement over.........

Off to mooch.................

That's what happened to me at the weekend with my 'tasty Spanish Sauce'

It said 2 tsp pimenton (which here is a sort of sweet paprika apparently) and I had bought some Pimenton picante (the HOT version) when last in Spain.

2 tsp of that, plus the chilli powder gave it quite a 'kick' - I LOVED it but had to tone it down for hubby :-( - the result was that he quite enjoyed it but I found it very bland and have not even bothered to freeze the rest for future use :-( :-( :-(

I will probably have to turn it into a tomato paste topping for pizzas .........
