Actually ... the how to use instructions don't appear when you post on the Records Office board ... so we have plausible deniability there.

It's still the rule, of course, per that really handly little link "Before posting, please read the guidelines for message board use" (which obviously has written beside itin invisible pixels that only some can see: "this does not mean you").

Nobody disagreeing with me yet!

I hate those "lookup threads". They are magnets for duplicating dolts, the black holes of the boards.

Or did you mean my boasting about my illustrious cousin again? ;)

I had to. I discovered he had his own Facebook page.

going to work tomorrow with an assistantI will not be able to do everything but it is a start.
Strange thing as that I cannot reach up with either arm.

It will not be easy as I have a lot of confidence to rebuild.

At least you will have help LK...Its horrible when you cant do things that were easy peasy before but in time you will be able to do it again.

Saw this on ancestry page

Can anyone help with my family tree? I really want to find out about my family but don't have the time to do the work and research myself! x

My thoughts were employ someone to do it then!!! maybe she is prepared to pay?

Mornin......up due to No 2 son working at 5.30am, he doesnt seem to realise that lights, shower, kettle and toaster make lots of noise at that time in the morning!

Nope, I dont get get 'dudgeon' either Ja..x

Question 17 on the English census 'This question is left intentionally blank. Go to 18.'

No explanation as to what this means.....well its because Q 17 on the 'Welsh' census form says 'Do you speak Welsh' So rather than waste the space and confuse people they could have used this space to ask;

Do you watch Corrie/Emmers or something equally important ;)

High dudgeon ............... a feeling of intense indignation (now used only in the phrase `in high dudgeon'); a feeling of righteous anger

Good morning Sylvia. Xxx

What a good idea! It is about time you made us work for ourselves - you spoil us too much !

I have made some of my 'special' toast, drizzled with olive oil and rubbed with tomato.....I am munching on that while the rest is cooking.

Sausages are sizzling in the pan - bacon, tomatoes and mushrooms are just finishing off under the grill..........delicious, if I say so myself !!!

See you all later.

Nite nite Sylvs - hope you are not having problems with the weather over there.

Okay. Am I going daft or what??

Janey, have you deleted one of your comments about the high dudgeon thing? I responded to it but, both your comment and mine have disappeared! I didn't delete mine and it must have been seen cos ja...x has replied to it!

It's the one where I said that that these youngsters had never heard of these sayings from yesteryear and then put (as an example)..something like....Now JC don't go off in high dudgeon just cos we didn't all laugh at your joke at once!

Very strange.........Sylvs.....I'd better have some brekkie please ..... thanks for a lovely spread........edit : oh! just realised.......even though we have to get it ourselves! I must be dafter than I thought! Have a good night's sleep you deserve it!

The news from Japan just gets worse.

Could question 17 have been Do you speak English?

Dea

Dea Report 12 Mar 2011 08:45

It 'was' there Cynthia 'coz I saw it !!!

It is strange because I went to a thread yesterday that I had posted on and read through to refresh my memory of it.

It was obvious that one of 'my' postings was missing because of the comment on what I had said by someone else and my later further reply.

I know I hadn't deleted a post so where did it go??

Just like yours!!!

Dea x

P.S. - There was nothing on the post to cause it to be deleted, it was just a part of the conversation regarding a look-up we were working on.

Cynthia

Cynthia Report 12 Mar 2011 09:00

Thanks for the reassurance Dea. Very odd indeed.

Patchem.....do you mean the census? Haven't even opened ours yet....OH keeps leaving it for me to open it - so I pass it back to him! At this rate it will stay in the envelope....lol

Better get moving but, as the old proverb goes 'The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak!'

Gee Report 12 Mar 2011 09:20

Cyn yours and JCs comment was there at 5.30am this morning when I read through...

Why on earth would GR delete them they were not offensive?

There was the SURNAME 'Crapps' mentioned, but it was a name and not an expletive

I hope you are going to contact GR and ask them why, Im sure JC will do the same

Patcham; Q17 'Do you speak English'.......yes they could have put something there so not confuse people

Gee

Gee Report 12 Mar 2011 09:28

I wonder what our ancestors would have made of the 2011 Census! It has been produced in 57 different languages

And heres one to make you chuckle;

If you're wondering if automated payment machines receive census forms, you would be right.

A form was reportedly posted to a car park ticketing machine at Dorset's Moors Valley Country Park. Addressed to 'The Occupier: Pay on Foot Shelter', the machine now faces prosecution - with a fine of up to £1000 and a criminal record if it fails to fill in the form.

To the amusement of staff at the park, they are now figuring out what to put as its job, language and religious beliefs.

In response to the mix-up, the Office of National Statistics explained to Yahoo! UK News:

"In a small number of cases the Royal Mail or Local Authority coding will be wrong and a form will go to a non-residential address but these are often difficult to spot amongst the 26.5 million addresses without a field visit.

On balance it is more important for the accuracy of the census that we count all residents so we always err on the side of safety and send forms to all properties."

Nice one Gins. They should have a competition for the funniest answers.

Re the deletions - I can't see GR deleting at that time in the morning, especially at weekends. I suppose there could be a glitch in the system or someone has taken exception to the banter twixt JC and me?? Ah well, life moves on and so must I. Off to change sheets.....etc.etc. :)

For patchem

The question for the blank no17 is on a thread on Chat
http://www.genesreunited.co.uk/boards.page/board/chat/thread/1261262?page=2

****Q17.
Can you understand, speak, read or write Welsh?
Tick all that apply.
and then the boxes and answer choices.****

The 2011 Census threads on both Chat and General make quite interesting reading!
