Afternoon all

Lovely sunshine here today.

My window's been put in and it looks great. All I need to do now is clean all the rest, as the new one shows them up :-D :-D.

Glad to hear you're starting to feel a bit better now Frank, hopefully you'll be fully recovered in no time <3. Sorry to hear you now have a bad neck and arm. Sandra keeps reminding me it's pancake day tomorrow, so I'll be making a few of them for her. She loves pancakes.

Hope you manage to get rid of the rabbits Mel. They can cause so much damage can't they??

I've not heard anything about my neighbour yet today and as far as I know she's still in hospital. Her daughter keeps us up to date on her mother as she looks after her everyday. My neighbour doesn't like to make a fuss and is very independent for a 96 year old, but I think this time she should of told someone how she was feeling. Maybe she'll think twice next time.

Well, I haven't stopped today. 8.30 this morning OH's boss was on the phone wanting him to go in this afternoon, he had to say no because of the window being done and he also had other plans for this afternoon. Don't think his boss was to happy, but like OH said to me, it's about time she sorted the rota's out properly, she can't expect him to give up all his days off, he doesn't get that many. In fact he had to ask for a Sunday off as he hasn't had one for 3 months, apart from 1 which he booked off in January because it was our wedding anniversary. She did apologise to him and said she hadn't realised it had been that long. Although he could only have Sunday off if he worked Saturday, which he was suppose to have off so she hasn't done him any favours.

Anyway, as I was saying, I've been very busy changing the beds, plus loads of other washing, then I had to move the sofa's away from the window and take the curtains down, then I moved all the pot plants away from the window outside and washed the patio down as it was a bit slimy and then I hovered and polished everywhere. I've still got loads more washing to do, but I hurt my back moving the large sofa so I've run a bath to soak in. I can't do anything else until the washing machine finishes so have a bit of free time. Then later I'm going to have to go shopping for food.
I'll be ready for my bed early tonight me thinks.

Was going to watch the rest of the Jump I recorded but don't think I'll have time to get through them all today. By the time I get back from shopping it'll be dinner time. No rest for the wicked as my mum says :-D :-D.

I forgot to say Jane. Rosie turned up this morning for some food. It must of been my turn today lol :-D :-D

Afternoon All,

Dismal drizzle here and looks set in for the day. The washer is going to be on all afternoon as they say it will be sunny tomorrow so the washing should be able to be pegged outside......they'd better be right!

I had a look at my old neighbour's house on go*gle yesterday and had to smile. There against the right hand wall was a scaffold tower with a ladder from it onto the roof!! It looks like he hadn't changed his ways at all since I moved house 15 years ago. It also means he was still scrambling up there in his 80s!! The house is still painted the same colours, just as well when you only paint a bit of it each year. His obituary referred to his late wife, so I expect the house will be up for sale soon.

That little squirrel looks as if he's going to get stuck in there Jane if he eats much more! James' cakes sounded good and it's great he is doing a bit of cooking. His workmates will really enjoy them. That was a lucky escape with your pants! Nowadays I would notice that before I got far as they aren't flimsy little ones that would slip straight down the leg and out the bottom anymore!!

We watched the garden prog (recorded) with the woman in the hot air balloon yesterday. They were doing Norfolk and I wondered if we would see the garden that Jane told me Fitz went to a couple of years ago.......and we did!! East Ruston Old Vicarage Gardens and they looked so good that OH wants to go and see them as well, so it looks like being a trip out in the summer, maybe with an overnight stay, although OH said it was doable in a day.

Mel your card and mug have turned out really well and your flowers look so fresh like they've just been picked! The deer look good and fit and are those bulbs I can see just coming up in the grass?

It's good you feel a bit better today Frank. Don't get overdoing it too soon though.

I hope your neighbour is ok Gill. My in laws don't drink enough and have suffered from dehydration too, but they won't change no matter what we or the doctor say. I think they don't believe it as they don't feel thirsty.

Ruby it sounds like you are best staying put with the cold weather expected your way. I can just imagine your OH with panties across his shoulders!! lol. I like to give my feet a good old soak as well.

We had a nice brekkie at Bud*ies this morning before doing a good shop at the supermarket opposite. OH is out tonight and catching up with notes now. I'd better change the bed next and the towels.

Frank

Frank Report 16 Feb 2015 16:22

All sorted now then Gill, Very posh with your new window. Patio all clean and ready for your next viewers. When are the next ones due ??

Never eaten at Buddi#s Ann, What type of food do they do American burgers ?? I have only ever had two pizza's at the pizza parlour with Conrad and Jan. The best part was the Salad. I'm not into any fast foods. I think I have said before I have had one BIG Mc. One KFC and so it goes. I prefer a pint and a ploughman's. At least you know what you are getting !!!

The weather hasn't eased up here all day. It's rained all day. I've even got a drip in the conservatory. I think the gutter is blocked at the back. Will have to get up there soon with the pressure washer and blast it all out. Then it will be Window cleaning again.

That squirrel must be a proper little escape artist, getting in and out of that feeder. Let's hope he doesn't get stuck, and you have to get him out. They can give you a nasty bite, so be careful ;-) ;-) ;-)

Around here we have men who shoot rabbits, and skin and freeze them for their pots. I use to like a good Rabbit stew or rabbit pie, but since mixi I have stayed clear of them. So I can understand you giving it to the dogs Mel.

Football down the pub tonight. Not sure if I am bothered enough to go down. I will see how I feel after dinner. and check with Tony.

I meant to say, when Ros had all this cream and meds from the doctor at the hospital. She also had some special panties at HOLD YOUR BREETH £34.95 per pair. supplied by the NHS ONLY ONE PAIR. which she rinsed through every night. It did say on the prescription that if you needed more to ask your Dr. At that price she didn't like to ask :-D :-D :-D :-D

My favourite dinner tonight Cold roast pork, chips and pickle with curried Baked Beans. Meats all carved on plates, beans in saucepan with curry powder. Chips sitting in a jug of water, so will just have to get it together about 6 ish.

See you later

Afternoon everyone
What a yucky day.Lots of the wet stuff, and so much water on the roads when went out this morning. There was so much at the bottom of the hill by Wicksteed park cars were having to drive on the other side of the road :-S

LOL yes Mel it should have been TINKER not Tinkle...Maybe I need one and it was on my mind lol

Gill you will be very happy now the window is done.Doesn't it make a difference!!!!
I do hope your neighbour will recover from her water infection .Bless her not wanting to drink.I can understand her not wanting to if it was hurting so when she went to the loo.
Elderly people with UTI's often go a bit gaga and disorientated .But hopefully once the infection is treated and she is rehydrated again she should be back on her feet and home.

Ann the Squirrel is quite a fatty.I have had to bang on the window a couple of times today when I spotted it sitting in the food tray again :-S

I bet you had a little laugh to yourself seeing the scaffolding still there in the pic of your old neighbours home.I can imagine that there might be an awful lot of work needing doing for whoever buys the house !!!!

Mel your photos were lovely. The Mug with Robbie on it is brilliant :-D..and the Deer.I just loved that pic :-D

Oh Frank .How is your Neck now? Has Ros given it a rub? Or would she strangle you
;-).I had a trapped nerve on my neck and it made my fingers all have pins and needles
I thin kit was caused when I had my old dog Dodger when his back legs didn't work properly and I had to lift him in and out of the car boot all the time..He was no lightweight either.

Hannah and I are going to go down to Plymouth in May for a couple of nights. She suggested it at the weekend when we were talking about Mum .It would be nice to go down to the church where Mum and Dads ashes are and give it a good tidy up and also give the stone a good scrub. It has been many years since I went down.

My tumble drier has been going ALL day :-S..I still have one more big load to go in the washing machine tomorrow ,so if it is going to be a nice day I will try where washing line :-D

Half 5 already so I better get some food on the go.

Is it tomorrow Fiona has her Dr's appointment for her nose?

LOL RUBY I can just picture your pants clinging on the back of OH's shirt :-D :-D
Bet it was static.Did he have a Bri Nylon Shirt on? Good job you noticed :-D
I hope you aren't going to get really bad weather .Although looking at the forecast for parts of the US it does look pretty awful.

I wonder if Shirl has had any more snow.

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 16 Feb 2015 18:13

WE hav'nt heard from Shirl since she was able to get back on here. I hope she still can. Kim can't, I wonder why???

O gosh it's got dark while I was reding your posts so I better shut the chickens in now.............

Frank

Frank Report 16 Feb 2015 18:30

It gets dark so quickly Mel, It never got light this morning till after 7.00.

Jane I got some stone cleaning liquid for Ros's M & D stone. Which did a excellent job, If I still have the bottle in the garage, I will let you know what it is. I like you, haven't been down to my dad's grave for many years. The problem I have now is Ros won't drive in London. It means going M 1 M 25 then on the suburb roads to my home village. Conrad did say he would take me, but I won't hold my breath I don't think he has been to his Nans and Paps grave at Earls Barton. So I can't expect him to take me.

Had my cold pork, chips and beans. Lovely it was too. Ros cleared away ands washed and dried up.

I have remembered how I strained myself. Yesterday after me shower, I got my razor out and dropped it behind the washing basket. Instead of pulling it out and picking up the razor. I reached over to far and pulled my shoulder. SO IT'S MY OWN FAULT :-( :-( :-(

Tony has rang to say he will take me to the pub. It would be rude to refuse, Wouldn't it ?? ;-) ;-) ;-) ;-) WELL IT WOULD> :-D :-D :-D

Enjoy your evening, Broard Church is on tonight.

Jane

Jane Report 16 Feb 2015 18:31

Crikey Frank! that is an expensive pair of pants..Some people with Ros' s problem wouldn't be able to afford that.I'm just wondering if she needed another pair and knows if they have a special name she might find them on line at a cheaper price.
I like the sound of your dinner .....just not the added curry powder in the beans.
We have sausages I bought in Suffolk ,(I bought some last year when we were there ) from a farm shop (it's their own pigs) and they are so good .No fat runs out when cooking and they are very tasty.I'm doing Mixed Peppers,Mushrooms and Red Onions .Broccoli ,Green beans and for those who want, a few Rustic Chips.(not home made)

Wednesday we are off to see' Paddington' at the Errol Flynn with Fitz. Lunch at Fitz's favourite Turkish place.(not Chris's fav food lol)

I have just found a bit of glass that fell out from my top oven....That is from the shattered glass on Christmas Day !!!!!!! :-S :-S

Funny how glass always seems to turn up months later. It must have made an awful mess on your new flooring.

Oh spilt about three quarters of a pint of cider last week on the carpet in the dining area!! He was cross and so was I as guess who had to clear it up!! :-| :-| :-|

Jane

Jane Report 16 Feb 2015 19:37

Bet the carpet smells good then Mel..Like apples :-D.Yes when the glass fell out on the tiled floor is shattered everywhere. But being safety glass luckily it stayed in little cube shaped bits so no dangerous shards .It was very strange to suddenly get another bit appear now after nearly 3 months !!!!

I have requested to see someones tree. How do I know if they have given me access?
Will it be by PM?I haven't done it before so don't know. They opened my first message ,but I have a feeling I won't get a reply for access :-S

Mel Fairy Godmother

Night Night to you also Jane.!!!

Went to the pub. There was a chap from Germany sitting opposite us who did nothing but to complain about the ENGLISH and their attitude to Customer services, and how wonderful the Germans were. If he hadn't left when he did I would have had strong words with him !! Michael ,one of the local lads was ready to take him to task also. If he loved his Country so much, what the Bloody hell is he doing over here.. Who the hell do these people think they are. ??

Ruby

Ruby Report 17 Feb 2015 05:23

You're right Frank. You should have told him to shape up or ship out !!

We have ice all over. It's going to sleet all night. I'm nice and warm, and don't have to go anywhere this week. I went early this morning to have my blood work done for cholesterol, before the bad weather arrived, and I've plenty of food. I hope there are no homeless people without shelter tonight. We have a number of places in the area who take care of the homeless, and many churches have soup kitchens. Sad that such places are needed.

I hope you enjoy the movie Jane. We liked it. I see there's another movie for children starting here next month, but I can't remember whether it's Cinderella or Sleeping Beauty. Lady Rose from Downton is playing in it. I'm sure I'll have to go and see it with the little ones.

I loved your pictures Mel - such sweet thoughtful presents and gorgeous roses, and the deer were just so lovely. I bet the countryside there is just beautiful.

I may break down and make pancakes tomorrow as I did keep the flour that's in the canister, and I just bought a bag of lemons the other day. I squeeze the juice out of a few at the time, and keep in a jar in the refrig., so that I can have some hot lemon when I get up in the morning. It's supposed to get you going :-D It would help if I knew where to.
:-D :-D

I've been messing around on Ancest*y all evening, and am toying with the thought of buying Fam. tree Maker, but it seems that many people are unhappy with the newest version. Do any of you have it?

Isn't it a bit sad Anne, to see your old neighbour's trammels around his house (one of mum's words). Little things still crop up around this house that OH used, and I haven't seen for a long time. How they stay hidden I don't know. the very worst was a couple of years ago, and I was cleaning out my shed and found one of his work gloves. It brought back such memories, because some years ago, he cut off the top third of his middle finger on his left hand, and the tips of two more fingers. He had lots of power tools and a big work shop that he built himself. Luckily I was home the day it happened. He managed to get to the house and then passed out.
Anyway, after that accident, he couldn't get along with his leather work gloves because the top of the third finger was always getting in the way, so he asked me to cut it off. I told him to take it to a cobblers because I didn;t think I could get a needle through the leather, so he did it himself :-( The day I found that glove and looked at that finger where he had cobbled it up, absolutely broke my heart.

You all still have your mates, so cherish them, no matter how aggravating they are. Make sure the air is clear between you when you turn in for the night.

I'd better get off to bed. I hope your weather is better than ours, and that you're all feeling well. Tomorrow is my daughter's 52nd b'day. She came to visit yesterday as usual, so I gave her a card and present just in case I don't get to see her tomorrow, and by the looks of the weather I won't.

Bye for now X

Morning all and evening Kim, Hi to Ruby,

It's a beautiful morning after a frost but the sun is shining and the sky is blue and I forgot to turn the washing machine on last night before I went to bed!!!!! :-| :-| :-| :-|

I heard from William and this is what he said:-

Hi Mel,
Lovely photos, lovely flowers. I keep meaning to post on the thread but since Christmas Carmel has been ill with one thing or the other and my time seems fully occupied. I'm just waiting for something to go right for a change. Give my regards to all my other pals on there and I'll try and post something soon, although I won't know where to start by then. If Carmel is well enough we have a funeral on Friday, a dear friend of hers of many years has died at the ripe old age of 93 although she never really suffered any illnesses during her life except a break of her knee, which is a long long story.

Best wishes - William

Fiona Report 17 Feb 2015 12:23

Afternoon All,

We have been out shopping this morning for NO NOT ME THIS TIME it's OH. because of all the walking involved in his job around As*a, he has lost a bit of weight and now all his jeans & smart trousers are too big even with a belt, the times he has managed to go swimming & Cycling also has got rid of that Christmas belly he had. :-D
I was very good and only bought a new pair of cheap sunglasses to use in the car. this sun is quite bright (not complaining it's lovely to see it and it is quite warm in the car) .
I also had a doctors appointment this morning at 8am, I was the first one in. I wanted to tell the doctor how uncomfortable I have been with my nose, he checked it out and said that I had an infection especially in the right nostril, he prescribed a nasal spray, and some cream to use if my nose gets sore. so really pleased about that it was driving nuts, especially when I couldn't breath.

Better get on with some house work, a pile of ironing lying there to be done :-|

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 17 Feb 2015 13:15

It sound like you may be getting somewhere with your poor sore nose Fiona. The cream should help too and the nasal spray will get to places other things can't so I hope it all clears up soon for you.
