Afternoon all,

What a beautiful day, wall to wall sunshine. There was a bit of frost on the lawn where the sun hadn't got to.

Ruby, I can imagine how you felt finding those gloves. I do feel for you. Sometimes it does you good to have a good cry <3 <3 <3

Lets hope that weather doesn't get to bad. I assume your daughter will keep an eye on you <3 <3 and get anything you may need. TAKE CARE.

Mel, I am pleased someone has heard from William. Has anyone heard from David ???

Fiona, That must be good for your OH loosing a bit of weight. He is now able to update his trousers to a smaller size. I am finding I am having to tighten my belt another notch. It might be the my belly is getting over my waist band :-D :-D :-D I am glad you have been to the doctors with your nose trouble. You get early appointments up your way. I get mine around eleven ish. Not an early bird with Dr.

Ros is at the "LINUS" today, making more quilts for the hospital children. Her and Margaret go once a month if possible. She brings work home with her too, and often has quilts laying around that she is working on.

I have done a silly thing. I made an apple pie for sweet tonight, forgetting that it's PANCAKE DAY. It will have to go in the fridge and I'll bake that tomorrow.

I am pleased to say my shoulder and arm is back to normal again this morning. I slept from 11.00 pm till 7.30 this morning. Ros bought me tea in bed, then I settled down again, I didn't hear her go out, and woke at 10.00. LAZY BOY. I must have needed the sleep after being up so early the day before.

Chicken in a bag tonight, with Rice and veg with extra mushrooms and onions (which I always add) Pancake mix is now made. so it will be all go this evening.

Having a little trouble with the Thermostat again. I have an engineer coming Monday 23rd. The silly thing is showing the room is 24 degrees yet we feel chilly, and when we touch the radiators they are barely warm. They think I have a faulty Stat. So will check and replace. It's under G'tee with my HOME SERVE policy. So I am getting my monies worth.

I also made some sausage rolls this morning, so I will have a few of those with a coffee now.

See you later.

Just had a Bl###y good laugh. I had one of those "phone calls" regarding "MY CAR ACCIDENT" :-D :-D :-D Question "when did it happen" answer 9 months ago. question "have you claimed yet and did you have any injuries" answer. No, I have been waiting for "SOMEONE LIKE YOU TO PHONE ME" I had to have my leg cut off. question "how much do you expect to get for compensation" answer £50,000.00.. He then went on to say he thought he could get me £4,000.00 without going to court. When I stuck out for £50,000.00. HE RANG OFF. I sat down and had a real good belly laugh. Wouldn't you think these IDIOTS would know when they are being wound up !!! That's set me up for the afternoon.

Still a lovely afternoon here, the conservatory is like a little oven. They promise a similar day tomorrow, but breaking up on Thursday.

Afternoon all,

Lovely sun shine here too, no heating on now but we do have it on first thing in the morning , the sun through the windows is really warm and the house seems to hold the heat ,also i don't like working about with heating on ,i was ironing fist thing so that warmed me up too.

I've cooked my pancakes already then i just need to heat them up ,we have sugar and lemon on ours , i hope hubby's hungry the my mix has made ten pancakes !! i must have thought the family where coming !!

Mel i like the card and mug , what a lovely present :-) and nice flowers too .
Lovely clear photo of the Deers in the garden ,it looks like one is on watch while the other two eat .

Yesterday when hubby came home from work he spotted a hypodermc needle just laying on the foot path near our house ,so i rang the council offices and they sent some one straight out to deal with it , the chap came and put it in a drinks bottle !!! you would have thought he would have had the proper sharps container !!
Why the devil do they just throw these sort of things down where people are walking , a lot of children walk through and they could have easily picked it up you know what children are like ,they could have played about with it !! doesn't bear thinking abut what it had been used for !!

Jane one of these days you'll find that Squirrel stuck in the feeder :-D cheeky little chap.
Don't like to mention it really but Jamie Oliver was cooking with squirrel the other day :-0 they said it was quite tasty !!

I had a good turn out of my books today, mostly paper backs , i took two carrier bags to the charity shop and have another six ready to go !!

Fiona you must be pleased the doctor has given you some thing for your nose ,i hope it helps and soon feels better.

Nice to know that Williams ok .

Wonder where Shirl is though , i thought she could post again but may be she's having more trouble, perhaps she's snowed in !!!

Jane Report 17 Feb 2015 17:36

Ruby ,you mentioning your OH's gloves made me remember when my sister found Dads old gloves and sniffed them. She was in bits as she could still smell dad :-(
I have an old tobacco tin of Dads and I'm sure I can still get a whiff of Gallagher Flaked Honey Dew tobacco..It takes me right back to seeing dad tapping the tobacco in to his pipe with his little finger and then lighting it often with a spill or a Swan Vesta match.

LOL Frank I would have loved to have listened in to your phone conversation :-D

Mandy I saw the Squirrel Pies.....Must tell my Squirrel :-D :-D
Chris is sat in the summerhouse with the gun at hand on Rabbit watch !!!!!.He looks daft lol Plus it is nearly dark now !!! I had to buy more Rat bait this afternoon :-S :-S

Fiona ,hopefully your poor sore nose will soon clear up now you have the right medication .I expect the spray is to reduce the inflammation which will help you breath better.

That was nice of William to get in touch Mel.He must have a lot on his plate with poor Carmel not being in the best of health .I send my love to them both <3

Mandy that is shocking that the needle was just put in a bottle......The council surely have Sharps Boxes !!!!At least they sent someone quickly to pick it up though.

Frank I hope you get your thermostat sorted.

I saw such a funny thing today.I was just upstairs in Hannahs room and I looked out the window to see a chap on one of these four wheel off road things(I can't remember what you call them).Rick Mayall had a terrible accident on one.....anyway sitting on the handlebars was a HUGE BIRD OF PREY !!!!!!!.It must have been tethered .It looked like a great big eagle.
I think I need to go and tell Chris he is wasting his time now looking for bunnies. How he thinks he will see anything and then get a shot with the gun..heaven knows !!! :-S

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 17 Feb 2015 18:29

Frank you made me laugh at your conversation with that fella. I quite often get one of those so I shall have to remember that one.

I have been outside to shut the chickens in and once again saw the crows doing a sort of mermeration I just have to stop and watch them. It is the second time I have seen it recently.

I saw Jamie cooking the squirrels too. did'nt like to mention it on here as I thought it may upset Gill with her Rosie.

I let the bantams out about 3.45pm for a scratch around before bedtime and when I went out again I could'nt see one of them. They seemed to have disappeared of the face of the earth. I shouted out Brown Bread which usually gets themn all out of the box hedge and hurtling towards me but nothing came. Off I go round the back of the bungalow and there they all were so had to chase them back round by oh's pond throwing bread in front of them. Got them all back but one. I was in my indoor shoes so had to come in and put my boots on as oh has killed off all the weed where the chickens used to be and it's bare earth. She would'nt go the way the others had and I had to chase her right around the bungalow to get her back. Little madam.

While looking for them I spied a dead rat under the box hedge. I shall have to ask oh if he shot it or not. If not it must have been poisoned and it was'nt us.

I was just outside having a ciggy with the outside light on and a bat flew right past my face. I thought it was too cold for them to be about! There were flies around the light and last night we had a huge moth out there.

I wouldn't mind finding a few dead Rats Mel.We filled up one of the Rat Stations again this afternoon :-S I haven't seen a Bat in a long while here.

Watching Eastenders now and thenThe Gift.So that is me sorted for the evening.
See you all in the morning .

Evening All,

What a lovely springlike day today with lots of sun! The Hall driveway near the Tuesday carvery looked lovely with drifts of aconites, snowdrops and pale crocus. Lots of washing done and dried outside and more in the machine for tomorrow. :-)

I can just imagine that with the glove Ruby as my first OH sliced the top of his index finger off and part of his thumb in an accident at work and had trouble with gloves after. I've wondered about getting Family Tree Maker as well so can't help you there.

I did a bit of research about my old neighbour last night and found his wife had died nearly 2 years ago. She was 5 years younger than him. He was brilliant with the toddler grandchildren in the garden, so patient with them. He had an old metal seesaw in his 'jungle' that he would drag onto the lawn for them and whenever it was hot the paddling pool would be there. I went past his house today as it is 2 roads off the main road where I was going so hardly out of my way. The old caravan was stained and had moss all over it. The house looked ok, but black bin bags were stacked outside so I expect some sorting out has been going on. I felt sad at the thought of him rattling around in that big house on his own.

That's good the doc has given you something for your nose Fiona and your hubby has done well to lose a bit of weight. I wonder how much more he will lose with the exercise he is getting. Our earliest appointments are 8.30am.

It's good your neck and arm are better now Frank........you are becoming naughty on the phone, but it must have been very satisfying!! I talked about Bud*ies before..... a little cafe run by a lovely lady......no fast food!! Ros is good doing quilts for the children. I imagine it's something you must have to be very accurate with when sewing but I've never tried it.

It's awful that folk just discard needles on the path like that Mandy. As you say a little one could pick it up or fall on it or a dog could pick it up. They have to be very careful with house clearance now because of needles. You have had a good clearout of your books!! There's room for some more now..... :-)

Hello, it's 'run rabbit, run rabbit, run, run , run' time at Jane's with gun toting Chris on the prowl!!!! :-S We haven't seen any bunnies in the back field this year yet. The farmer seems to be cutting more of the hedges down and has now started on the one across the middle of the field that screens the road from us. :-S I don't know if it's because he wants to be able to see all his cattle from the road without getting out of his vehicle, only it seems such a shame as they love to stand under it when the sun is beating down and it attracts a lot of birds with the berries and for nesting too. I wish he'd dig out this ditch at the back of the fence that's blocked instead.

How was the film Jane? It was one we couldn't make our minds up whether to go to or not. Are you not watching the prog about the murderers tonight?

A Lovely Morning All,

It's bright and sunny here at the mo and washing is flapping outside but it's not expected to last. OH is on his way to a meeting and I'm about to pop out and do a few errands. We are eating at home today, so we are having a veg traybake with some 3 fish, fishcakes with a runny cheese sauce in the middles. We haven't tried them before so it will be interesting to see what they are like.

The sun is showing up far too much dust on the floors, so when I get back it's going to be a boring afternoon of HW for me. I think some serious turning out of cupboards is due as well. It's funny how a bit of sunshine makes you want to get on with things.

Good luck at the dentist's Mel. Is this hopefully your last appointment? It will be good to not have to be going back for a good while if it is.

BBL when I need a cuppa.

Morning all and evening Kim, morning Ann,

Bright and sunny here too this morning but as Ann said I don't think it will last.

Don't know about the dentists yet as I said before I can't wear my new teeth as they jarred the bottom ones and now they are loose. Thats where I had the tooth ache. Gums have receeded so much she may have to take them out!! which will mean new ones on the bottom plate. With them being so sore I hav'nt worn the bottom ones for over a week. I have great confidence in Mellisa but she is pregnant and has 6 months leave from May so I hope it is all settled by then as I don't need to get used to another dentist with all this going on.

Lovely pics Ann. I have a few crocus out in the orchard with the snowdrops but they seem to disappear. Some years there are lots and others not many at all.

Thanks to Ruby for the emails.

I heard from Kim about the pics I sent of my flowers and cards.

Must get the washing on the line while the sun lasts......

Morning/Evening All

What a beautiful morning :-D :-D.It's really luverly :-D.Bit of a nip though. No washing out for me today .I only have a little left in the basket so it can wait until there is more to go in.
I loved the pics yesterday Ann.It all looked so spring like with the carpet of flowers.
Yes I like the tractor weather vane too.Certainly a bit different.

Oh dear Mel it sounds like the saga of your teeth will continue for a while.I do hope everything is settled and perfect for you by the time your Dentist has her Baby.I dread to think who I would see when my Dentist retires.I have been going to him for at least 25 years.I don't think he has hit 60 yet so hopefully he will be around for a while yet.

Ann it is today we are going to see Paddington :-D.Chris says all the roads were gridlocked when he went to the bank just now,so we are guessing there is trouble on the A14..We better have a look on line and see if we can see what is going on.We are meeting Fitz at 12.30 for lunch so don't want to be late.

Have a lovely day .I hope everyone has this sunshine this morning.

Gillx Report 18 Feb 2015 11:15

Morning all

I was so busy yesterday I didn't get a chance to go online.

The weather here is broken cloud so the sun is trying it's best to get through.

You are funny Frank with the phone call. Maybe we should all be like that. I got one of those calls the other day, saying I'd had an accident in the last 2 and a half years, to which I answered "No I haven't" she seemed quite surprised but said she would take my name off her list. I was quite shocked. Now I'm wondering where she got my mobile number from. OH thinks our solicitor has sold it to them. Cheeky woman, she shouldn't be allowed to pass on my number without my permission.

Sorry to hear you are having problems with your thermostat again, let's hope it can be fixed on Monday for you.

Fancy forgetting it was pancake day Frank, especially when it was you who mentioned it to everyone lol. Sandra and I enjoyed the ones I made, we put lemon and a bit of sugar on them.

I love the pictures Mel of your little Robin, how cute <3. Hope everything goes ok at the dentist today. I didn't have a viewing yesterday, the next one is Saturday at 11am. Not sure if she knows the price has gone up again. No doubt who ever wants this place will knock us down in price anyway.

Yes I was a little upset at the talk of eating squirrels, I just thought of our little Rosie with her lame paw. I couldn't do it.
You can buy squirrel proof bird feeders, that would be a kinder way of dealing with the problem. I have a similar problem with the pigeons, they'd eat everything given a chance. So I wait until they have had some, then clap my hands together, they then fly off and the other birds get their turn.

I hope your daughter has a lovely birthday today Ruby <3 <3 <3.

How did Katherine's interview go yesterday Fiona. I hope she got the job. Glad to hear the doctor has given you some medicine and cream, hope it's worked and you are feeling a little better now. <3

How are you getting on with the tree you requested to see Jane. Did they give you access. I had a quick look on Ancestry the other day, they opened all their UK records for free for the weekend. I only have a free tree on there, can't afford to get a subscription, far to expensive, so doing my tree relies on free sites and other people sharing their trees with me.

I've managed to get quite far using the free sites but sometimes it can be quite tricky. It's always nice when I find someone on GR who is doing the same line as me. We exchange info and I can then check if my tree is correct. Good luck with your tree ;-) ;-).

It was nice to hear from William again, hope he can get back on here soon and that Carmel is feeling a bit better now.

Good job your OH spotted the needle Mandy, the council were quick to respond, strange they put it in a bottle though. Maybe they were close by doing another job and that was all they had to hand at the time.

That's a lot of books you had, the charity shop will be really grateful of them.

Off to get a cuppa now and take another look at my family tree.

Don't like this hanging around waiting for the time to go...............

After I fed the chickens this morning I went into the orchard to look at the crocus in the corner and on the way back looking along the drifts of snowdrops there was a butterfly feeding from the flowers upside down. Got a couple of pics as it was stillthere after I came and got the camera.

Been out for coffee with friends this morning , good to have a natter and a good moan. :-D weather was nice , sun out but there's still a chilly wind. plenty of blue skies,

Mel , I saw snow drops in a neighbours garden today, also in our garden the crocuses are coming up, My Frank said he's looking forward to getting back into his greenhouse this year, he's already been looking through plant brochures that's come in the post. there's a lot of tidying up to do first,

Hoping my new livingroom suite arrives at the end of this week, the furniture shop said it should arrive in their warehouse this friday, but then OH has to arrange with Daniele & Victoria to help take out their old couch & chairs and take them to the skip, then transport, our old couch & chair to their house. and take the futon up to Katherine & Jakes House so we can have the new couch and chairs in our house, Glad I am not needed for any of the coming & goings , I'd only get in the way leave the hard stuff to the men :-D :-D

Maureen Report 18 Feb 2015 14:33

Did you get to see the jump Gill, I enjoyed it even though sport is not my thing but Davina McCall was a bit OTT.

I don't like rabbit. Years ago when we used to be out in Spain with the in-laws they always ate stew like dinners. She took me into the garden to show me the feathers so I would know it was chicken and not rabbit.

Goodness Frank those knickers for Ros must have been gold trimmed. I hope you won't be making my mouth water with your delicious dinners today, I have a colonoscopy tomorrow so no food now for the next 24 hours. I have just taken 10 Senna tablets and will mix the usual jollop (one of my dads words) later, so I shall be visiting my 'white friend' a lot this evening :-(

I wouldn't have thought a solicitor would have given your phone number Gill but then again my brother thinks they are all a load of crooks and estate agents could have been an insurance company I think they sell peoples numbers, shouldn't be allowed, when I get a cold call I just leave the phone on one side so they end up talking to themselves, then don't disconnet it for ages.

Hope Lewis will soon be better Mandy, it's very worrying when they are so small.

Frank

Frank Report 18 Feb 2015 15:00

I am here, Good afternoon all.

Ros went off for her hair appointment at 10.30 I had to put the post code in the SAT NAV as the hairdresser is now working from home.

While I was reading the posts, I remembered there was a load of washing in the machine, so dashed out and hung it out. It's now blowing in the breeze, Ros will think it's been out all day. DON'T TELL HER :-D :-D :-D :-D

You do seem to be suffering with these RATS girls. You had better get a "PIED PIPPER" lol

I am sure the dentist will be able to sort your teeth before April Mel, That's two months away.

When going down the steps to the lawn with the washing basket, I tripped on the step and did a quick 20 yards dash down the garden with basket in my arms. My legs feel all shaky now. Ros will get the washing in later.

You wonder what type of people leave Needle's laying around on paths. I know our local Football club car park which is at the top of a small lane, had trouble with druggies using it at night time. They found needle's Crack pipes and other drug related stuff. The police started to do a regular trip up there to check the place over. I haven't been up there for ages, so don't know if it still goes on.

We have a couple of beds of snowdrops out, will have to get photo, and send on.

Mel, those bats and butterflies are about early aren't they ?? We have a bat that fly's round the street light in the SUMMER, catching insects etc. We stand and watch him from the lounge window. Another question HOW LONG DO THEY LIVE ???

Good luck with the weekend viewing Gill. You will be lucky soon I am sure <3 <3<3

Jane is getting a regular in my patch, I hope she is behaving. One day I will surprise her and turn up at the CINEMA ;-) ;-) ;-) and catch her in the back seats :-D :-D :-D

Roast shoulder of lamb with roast parsnips and tatties, cabbage, Brussels, runners and peas and carrots. Apple pie and custard for afters.

Looks like I have the start of a birds nest in the cherry tree .
