I meant to ask Mandy if DIL is feeding baby Lewis herself or on formuler?

Just how many cards do you paint a year Maureen or have you never counted them?

Bet Frank's having 40 winks as Ros is usually out on a Saturday. He needs to catch up on some sleep if he was up at that time in the morning.

Gillx Report 21 Feb 2015 16:05

Afternoon all

We've had some horrible weather here. It poured down in the night and was so loud we had trouble getting off to sleep. I think there may of been some hail mixed in with it. Even Sandra said it woke her up and believe me that takes some doing she could sleep through an earthquake lol.

More hail and rain today with a bit of snow added to the mix so I'm staying in today, it went so dark before I had to put some lights on.

I've been quite busy so far today. I had loads of washing.....still plodding through it all. I decided to change the beds and then decided to have a bath so that meant more washing. I don't know where it all comes from :-D :-D.

I've also been updating my tree, thanks to a couple of people who have kindly let me see their tree's. I hope they use my tree to fill in their gaps I did notice they had quite a few and I have the information on my tree which they are welcome to use, should they want to.

It's always nice to share information and to be in contact with new family members. One of the contacts was a second cousin once removed. Well, that's what she said. I'm not sure how to work these things out, so I'll take her word for it :-S I don't mind how we're related, it's just nice to be in contact and to share stories about our family.

I hope you have a lovely time at Hannah's Jane, sorry can't remember if it was today or yesterday you were going. I have read the posts.......Honest :-D :-D.
I did feel for you when you dropped your eggs, and they're not the easiest things to clean up either. Raw eggs feel sticky and just spread around when you try to clean them up. Hope it wasn't to bad for you.

Glad to hear you're feeling much better now Maureen.
I hope little Lewis is on the mend Mandy.

It's a pity you don't live near us Frank, OH loves fishing and would of gladly took you with him. He too doesn't have anyone to go with now because his brother works and so does OH so getting time off together isn't easy. Plus his brother has very young children so spends time with them when he does have any free time. So OH ends up going on his own. He would of loved the company and you wouldn't of had to tie yourself up to anything for fear of falling in the water.

We got some good and bad news the other day. Our neighbour is home from hospital but has to have some carers go round to hers everyday. Apparently she was so bad that they had to revive her in the ambulance. She's on antibiotics so should be back to her normal self in no time.

Unfortunately one of the women who took a shine to OH at work, sadly passed away the other day, she was in her 90's and had a stroke two days before. OH and another carer were with her when she died and he held her hand. I felt so sorry for her daughter as she turned up 30 seconds after her mother had passed away. She must of been parking her car. She thanked OH and the rest of the staff for everything they did for her mother. I'm going to the funeral with OH if he can get the time off work as he's quite upset about it. Not sure when it is yet though.

Sounds like the washing machine has finished so I'd better get back to it and put another load on.

Frank Report 21 Feb 2015 17:57

Evening all,

No Mel, I have stayed awake all day today. I felt my eyes going a few times so got out of the chair and walked around. I am determined to sleep tonight.

I would love to know why I wake up at these ungodly hours. They do say your body knows when you have had enough rest. I wish it would tell someone else. :-D :-D :-D

Ros was home by 1.00 pm. Bought in some nice rolls from Morris##s with their mixed salad and prawn. Went down nicely with a cup of coffee.

Been watching NAT. GEO. about a family of a lioness and her three cubs. One got taken by a Croc. another trampled by Buffalo. The third was lost, but she heard it the other side of the buffalo heard. She charged through them to find it. Quite sad really but very entertaining.

Yes Gill, It is a long way to come for a day's fishing. I bet I could get down to Mel's OH quicker. ;-) ;-) ;-) I suppose working in a care home, he gets these deaths occurring more than he would like. I am sure if after nursing these old people for a long time, you must get attached to them. Hope he feels O.K.

We have had a reasonable day here with lots of sunshine. Ros said it was very cold out this morning. We have had some rain since it got dark.

Trust little Lewis is getting over his tummy upset.

I think it will be a Chinese tonight. I will ask Madam what she wants. Indian we can get delivered whereas we have to go out for Chinese. So it's down to her. <3 <3 <3

Evening all,

Well the sun has been nice and looking out the window you'd think it was a nice day to be out and about doing a few jobs but it's been really cold , hubby went out to chop a few sticks and came in frozen.
We went to sons for coffee and Jake came back with us for a few hours ,he stayed for his lunch and then son picked him up as they were going to see DIL's parents this afternoon.

Frank you had an early wake up this morning , perhaps you should have had a quick cat nap you might be over tired and not sleep very well again tonight .

Gosh Ann that's a lot of weight that lady has lost , she has done well ,it must be extra hard when your working with food all day .

Lewis is on the bottle Mel, we did wonder if it was the formuler giving him the trots but the doctor didn't think so, when Lacey was a baby she had to have her milk changed as the one she was on didn't suit her tummy .
He was fast asleep when we went to sons this morning so i missed out on a cuddle .
Gill , my sister use to work at a care home working nights and she use to find it very hard when she lost one of her residents ,she worked there for over thirty odd years and had seen so many go over the years ,she retired about eighteen months ago ,but she did love her job .

I'am knitting some tops for DIL's sisters little boy he's about five months old ,i've finished a little jumper and now i'am knitting a little tank top it's so sweet ,but you should see all the wool !! she bought six big balls !! and i've only used two !!

Not much on the tele so i'am off to have a look on G*m Tree .

I expect that's an occuptional hazard in your hubby's line of work Gill. It must be upsetting for him at times though. It sounds like your elderly neighbour was very lucky that someone heard her shouting when they did.

MIL rang today and told me FIL had overbalanced and fallen again but luckily he hadn't hurt himself. At least this time she said she will get him a doctor's appointment. Even I was struggling around the furniture to get to the door yesterday so I'm not surprised he's fallen. The way they have their furniture arranged, you have to shuffle and weave your way around it avoiding little tables, footrests and the litter bins etc. they have lying about. Even the doorway is partly blocked by a tea trolley. We've tried telling them to think about making the house safer by moving things they could fall over etc but they say they have done! :-S `

Maureen I don't think I would have wanted to look at the screen if it was me!! lol. I find I have to be in the mood to do craft or art or things can soon go wrong. I love the different ideas you come up with for your cards. :-)

Well, we went to the retail park and ordered our leather settees tonight. It's about 12 weeks for delivery so now I need to get cracking and see if I can sell our existing M*S plum velour ones as they will be in the way if I don't!!

It's a pity there aren't any other local fishermen that would take you out with them Frank. If Ros thought it was cold earlier, it's blooming freezing here tonight with a very clear sky.

Oh any chance of a pic when you've finished knitting them Mandy. :-) I used to enjoy doing little coats and tops for folk at work when they were having babies.

Do they think everyone goes out on a Saturday night??? What a load of rubbish on the telly.

magpie Report 22 Feb 2015 10:14

You're right Mel, last nights TV was just awful! So we watched the geographic channel, and then a film we'd recorded a couple of weeks ago. Tonight's a bit better, but the rest of week's a bit grim!??
We woke up to a lovely day, but now its clouded over and is dull and miserable. I'm going to sort out some old family photo's this morning and label them, people, date and place. (hopefully) As my two said, once I've gone(!!!) there's no one left who knows whats what or whose who!! I expect I shall come across St Agnes. In my search! At least I'll know who they are!!!

Dull, grey and raining here.......................what a miserable day. I'd much rather a cold and frosty morning.

Got up this morning to find oh is not going ringing, I was so surprized.

Morning All, Evening Kim.

Dull and gray here too Mel, was raining but has now stop, still no news about my new living room suite, hoping they get in touch during this coming week. I managed to get some washing dried out side yesterday, and as I was pottering around the garden saw some little snow drops , Spring is on the way :-D :-D, daffs are sprouting up quick too, it's still very chilly here especially when it's windy, very nippy . Coffee time,

Gillx

Gillx Report 22 Feb 2015 10:38

Morning all

Dull morning here to and it's just started to rain.

That's a good idea Liz labelling all your photo's. I have lots of old photo's I got off my mum from my nan's place when she passed away and neither of us know everyone in them. My nan had labelled some of them but the rest are a mystery and unless I find other family members with the same photo's I guess we'll never know who's who. Such a shame as there are lots of them.

My Saturday nights TV are down to Sandra, she loves the Voice and Ant and Dec started a new show last night, so we ended up watching those. You're right though there's not much on TV on a Saturday anymore.

My OH had an accident on his way home from work last night on his pushbike. He said he thinks there was some oil on the ground and although he put his leg out to try and stop the fall, his foot slipped too. He banged his head and scrapped all his knee and ankle so he's a bit sore today. Luckily he's off work today and tomorrow.

The daughter of the resident who passed away was sorting out her mother's old room yesterday and gave OH a box with three miniature Whiskey's inside as a thank you for looking after her mum. They belonged to her mum and apparently she had drank one of them (there should of been four in the box). Well, after he got over the accident and had a cup of tea, to cheer him up a bit, I said are you sure there was only three bottles in the box not four and you hadn't had a little drink before coming home that's why you fell off your bike. He just laughed and said no. At least it cheered him up a bit.

I got lots done on my family tree yesterday and managed to get another person's line done down to the present day. The surname I'm trying to do at the moment is Allen, and boy is it hard, there are so many of them out there, its difficult to know for sure if I've got the right people sometimes, so having access to these few trees has been a godsend. Going to see if I can add to another person today, hopefully I'll be lucky with him and get his family down to the present day too.

Off to get a cuppa now and put the heating back on, it's quite cold here today.

Morning all,

Frosty start and now the suns out .

Not a very good weekend for us we are waiting for the police to come as we had some damage done to the car last night , one side mirror smashed and hanging by the wires and the other side mirror gone ,just the smashed pieces left where it's screwed on to the car .
It was frosty and they had scrawled all over the car ,i took some photo's so i'll send them later.

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 22 Feb 2015 12:30

O Mandy what a shock to find that this morning. So it was vandalism and not hit by another car? if both mirrors were broken? What do you mean by "they had scrawled all over the car"? Was it the only car damaged or were others up the road done too?

I have been up the shop this morning for something I forgot yesterday and it's still pouring with rain here. The bird feeders need filling up and I am just sitting having a coffee and reading your posts.

Gill I hope hubby is not too sore from his fall yesterday. Did he have adrop of the hard stuff to get him off to sleep last night?? That was nice of the lady to give him the three bottles of whiskey as a thank you. I hope he likes a whiskey!

Wonder when Jane will be home. I expect they had a rip roaring time all together and a good old chin wag.

magpie

magpie Report 22 Feb 2015 12:54

Oh Mandy, how horrid for you to wake up and discover that! Daughter had the same thing happen to them about a year ago, wing mirror ripped off, vehicle scribbled all over with a coin/key? (if you know what I mean) front tyre slashed, and graffiti daubed on one side! It was horrible and made her feel quite ill. I'm sure your experience has made you feel the same, bit like a burglary. I do feel for you and hope they catch whoever is responsible and throw the book at them. Personally I'd knee cap them!
Raining hard here now, yuk!! Got on quite well with the photos! Some go back to the 1890's, and are of my maternal Granny as a baby(!!) along with her granny, sisters and parents. One or two are even on glass showing my maternal Grandpa and his sister with their young looking parents, again in the 1890's!! Altogether an interesting morning. Must get lunch now, beef, yorkshire's, new potatoes and leeks in white (not cheese!!!) sauce.

Hello :-D :-D
Just a quickie now,but thought I better show my face.
We had a smashing day yesterday .Hannah did quite a feast .She must have been cooking and preparing for hours.James ,Jess and Matthew(janice's son) just happened to be on the same bus as each other so arrived at the same time.James and Matthew hadn't seen each other for many years.

Mandy how awful for you to find all that damage to your car :-0 :-0.I wonder ,was it just yours or had the thugs been on a vandalising spree !!

Gill ,your poor OH must have got a real fright coming off his bike like that .Thank goodness he wasn't injured more than he was.
Was the resident who passed away the lady who your OH wanted to give a Xmas card to?

I can't stay longer now .Sorry I haven't commented on everyones posts but haven't had the chance to have a good read through yet .
If I am not back again today I will tomorrow when Janice and Larry have gone.

Afternoon All,

Well Mandy, you can see where their brains are from what they've drawn on your car, the nasty little toerags!! Fancy ripping both mirrors off as well......they aren't cheap to replace these days. I bet you felt awful and your heart must have sank seeing that this morning. I wonder if any other cars got the same treatment as they walked by. There's always a bit of a fear they might be back after you get it fixed as well. :-S

We really enjoyed the Lucy Worsley 'A Very British Murder' prog last night at 8.00pm that I mentioned last week. OH likes her as she clearly knows her stuff and has a bit of gravitas, not like some of these airhead female presenters who think because they can present one type of programme it makes them experts on everything!! The subject last night was Palmer the Poisoner which I was particularly interested in as he was a doctor who committed his crime in and lived in Rugeley at the same time my gt grandparents lived there!! Mum said she remembered it still being much talked about in the area when she was a little girl.

Maureen and Jane's Chris might like a prog that's on BBC1 from 6.00pm to 7.00pm tonight. I shall be recording it.......The Big Painting Challenge.......from Alnwick this week. It's the first of 6 progs.

It sounds like you had a really good time Jane and good for Hannah planning the get together and preparing the feast for you all!

I bet your poor OH was a bit shaken up by that Gill and will have some colourful bruises next. It's lucky his bike wasn't damaged as well. It sounds like you are getting on well with your tree.

We went out this morning just as the rain started and it hasn't stopped since. It was more like sleet earlier and really cold. OH's car was sluggish starting up this morning.........I hope it keeps going till he gets his next one!! :-S

I'm trying to finish off some beading now.

magpie

magpie Report 22 Feb 2015 16:29

Ann which side was Lucy Worsley on? I know you've said but could you refresh my failing memory!!! Ian and I love her programs and always look out for them. She did a series on royal bedrooms not so long ago which was very interesting.
Glad you had such a nice time Jane. Family get togethers are brilliant particularly if you don't see that much of each other.
The beef was lovely, but the day had deteriorated and is dull and dreary!

Frank Report 22 Feb 2015 16:46

Here I am at last Did you miss me ??? Tell the truth !!!

I managed to stay up until midnight last night, and slept until 10 00 am this morning. I didn't know if I was coming or going till I got showered and shaved. I did a sausage sandwich with a pot of tea and Ros joined me.

I walked to the pub for the West Ham match. It was so cold the wind blew straight though my coat. I had to bang on the door at the pub to get in. You would think I was an alci waiting to get me first drink :-D :-D :-D

It was a disaster, We were TWO UP then went to 2-1. They then got a penalty in injury time so final score 2-2. It was peeing with rain when I went to come home, so one of the lads bought me home.

Had forty winks, now have to see about dinner. Will read the posts and comment later.

Annx Report 22 Feb 2015 18:05

She was on BBC4 Liz at 8.00pm. We saw her doing the Royal bedrooms too. You are very lucky to have photos that old. The oldest I have is of my grandfather in 1912 ish but I do have a couple of older ones of 2 of my grandmother's cousins.

It sounds as if you caught up on some sleep last night Frank. I don't know, banging on the pub door to be let in......couldn't wait for them to open!!! :-0 ;-)
