We are Jane, how did you guess!!!!! Your right about boys being such bad losers! I think they STILL like to get one over girls right into adulthood, and see it as a personal insult when they don't!!! Pathetic really!!!
Ian doesn't hoover, well not very often although it has been known!, he does cook regularly (clearing up a bit iffy!) and both hangs and brings in washing!!!!! He hasn't got a particularly good track record on the domestic front, but will help if asked, not much volunteering though!!! However, he does know that huffing and puffing would NOT go down well!!!
I too had been asleep for hours before you went to bed Mel. I'm hopeless with late nights now and we're both always in bed by 10.30 at the latest!
Tipping with rain so Merlin is being brought back down to the yard, lunch is sizzling, and hatches are being battened down!

Like minded Liz ;-) any excuse :-D
Raining Kittens and Puppies now ..It might turn into Cats and Dogs :-D..It's looking that way.
Hannah has gone....Chris said we have just got rid of one bundle of fun (not) and the next one will arrive (James) lol.

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 1 Mar 2015 16:29

Clouded over here about quarter to two. I did lunch and as we were eating it we had a huge hail shower. The wind is blimmin cold and now it has just rained. Are you lot sending me your rotten weather?????? :-| :-| :-| :-|

Oh is having 40 winks and I have all the washing up to do.

That was great about selling the horse lorry Liz and at the asking price can't be bad at all. Another thing out of the way.

Oh dos'nt like the soundof the hoover and dos'nt like the hairdryer either. When you think he has 5 sisters I suppose it went on for ever when he was at home. Also witht he hoovering I am still having trouble with the Dy*on. I think I may have sussed it but can never remember how I go about it. If I don't have the brushes going round for a while first it seems to be ok. I did the hall first today and it went ok first time, did all the other rooms it would reach and then tried it on the kitchen and it knocked the leccy out just the once. Another reason why I hoover when he is out is because of this. If he is on the pc and I knock it out he losses everything he is doing.

magpie Report 1 Mar 2015 17:04

Oh I understand Mel, I can see it can be a problem with your leccy ups and downs! Probably best to do it when it can't cause any problems!!!
Lunch done and dusted, and we're watching an old Inspector Morse! We've had a huge hail storm too, but it's now windy, sunny and colder!

Hi all

Thank you so much for the link Ann, you are so thoughtful. OH had arranged for his plumber mate to come around at 10am this morning but he didn't turn up. I wouldn't mind but I only got about 4 hours sleep last night so could of done without having to get up early to move everything away from the boiler.

I was so cold that I thought I would take a chance and put the heating on expecting the pressure to go up and the water leak again. Well, for some reason it didn't happen and the heating was ok. I was a bit concerned watching the pressure dial go up and up and was ready to turn the heating and boiler off if there was a leak, but when it got to 2 and a half a light starting flashing and the pressure when down to 2, then the light stopped flashing and the pressure went back up to 2 and half again. After watching this happen for about half an hour I realised that the boiler must be working again so I left the heating on for a few hours to warm the bungalow back up then turned the heating off and everything seems ok. I'm so chuffed.

I did get a phone number for a plumber though Ann so if I end up with problems again I've got it to hand. It was so nice of you to send the link I'm rubbish with the tinter web lol and wouldn't of had a clue what to do.

I can see why you'd want to stay where are you living Maureen, having your daughter's close by and after making your bedroom so beautiful it would be a shame to leave it behind. It sounds like you're going to be busy decorating for your son when he moves. What a shame the blind broke hope you manage to find another one you like.

Glad to hear you had a better nights sleep last night Mel. I had a late night to and then just couldn't get off to sleep so when the alarm went off this morning I woke up feeling tired. I bet you'll sleep well again tonight with all the hovering you've done today. I did my hovering yesterday and a bit of polishing. My hand is ok now so I'm busy catching up on all those little jobs I couldn't do. I'm looking forward to making a start on my garden but the weather here is wet and windy so I'll have to wait until it gets a bit better first.

Off to do the fish and chips Sandra asked for now. It was nice to have a roast with all of us together yesterday but all day today I've been thinking it's Monday and been doing all the jobs I normally do on a Monday, so now I'm a day ahead of myself lol.

Jane

Jane Report 1 Mar 2015 18:57

Gill what kind of boiler do you have ? Is it a condenser boiler? Where water collects in a condenser and then that empties when it gets to a certain level?
We have one of those and have had to have the condenser replaced a few times as it didn't empty and we had water all over the garage floor. It would mess the boiler up big time when it happened.Just wondered when you mentioned a leak if it might be the same problem. I don;t know if I have made any sense there. It's just so difficult to explain :-S

I know someone who comes from one of the Scottish Islands and it is totally forbidden to do any laundry ,hanging out washing/ cleaning /grass cutting etc on a Sunday....Glad I don't live there lol
I don't think I would fit in somehow ;-)..I would be a rebel and probably get chucked off the Island :-D

Dinner ready :-D :-D....I could eat a horse right now

Evening All,

What good news Liz. I bet you can't believe the sale was all done and dusted so quickly! Now you have some extra space too. :-)

It sounds like something is faulty like a valve or something on your boiler Gill, but I bet it was nice having a warm bungalow again. It will be good to get a second opinion.

We went by As*oughs a few weeks ago Jane so I have a good 'fix' of where it is again in my mind. (the new place that is!) I'm really looking forward to seeing you both again......must remember to have a deco at this month's menu! Then after another special trip out for OH's birthday next week I shall be back to my mostly veg dinners etc. :-) BTW Maureen, I have tried the unsweetened Almond Milk with cereal and in tea today and it is not much different to skimmed milk so I shall be getting more I think as it is less calories. :-)

I hav'nt been on because we have had another thunderstorm. No leccy no pc. It seems to be ok now.

What's Frank been up to today?

I have never seen this almond milk you have been talking about but perhaps I have not looked in the right place. Would'nt mind giving it a try if it is not sweet.

Meant to tell you I saw the fox last night in the orchard and took a shot at it to frighten it away which it did. I could see it with the outside light on but I don't think it could see me.

Evening you chatter box's, I can't leave you alone for a minute. !!!

Good news on the horse lorry Liz, How long did you have it on the market ?? I suppose with Spring on the way, it's a good time for someone to buy, if they are going to fete's and horse jumping.

You have a right pair there Jane. Hangovers.!!! I know it's happened to me on a few occasions . Another thing that Conrad use to do, was forget his house key when he went out. We would be up until 1.00 am and still he wasn't home. There was no way we would go to bed and leave the door unlocked. Many Sunday mornings I have drawn back the bedroom curtains, to see his car all steamed up. He would realise he had left his keys at home, and sleep in his car. Being on a quiet Country lane in Gayton, he knew he would be safe with his doors locked.

Glad you have got heat again Gill, lets hope it continues without trouble.

Maureen, It would be a big wrench for you to move after all those years in the same house. I know Jan and Conrad have mentioned about us moving to Devon. I can't see it happening. We have everything we want/need here, so are settled.

Mel, I had trouble with our battery Dyso# it kept huffing and puffing and starting and stopping. I striped it down this morning and there was a leaf from the MONEY PLANT stuck in the bottom hose. After prodding and poking, and blowing down the tube out it popped with loads of dust and hair. All over the carpet. After clearing that up, I ended up doing the hovering. I think I got lumbered with that :-D :-D :-D

Ann, Where are you going with Jane and Fitz, I did ask a certain young lady, but she ignored me <3 <3 <3 I just wondered if I knew it. Not being nosey really !!! HONEST ;-) ;-)

Mr S###### is on now, so I am out of the way for a while, I won't be late to bed tonight, as after preparing, cooking and doing most of the washing up, I didn't get 40 winks today. so will have a quiet hour with the radio in bed. It's a great programme on from 10.00 till 1.00 am With a guy called KEITH SKEWS, on local radio. I think a lot of you might get it if you tune in. Well worth a listen if you like 50s 60s songs and music.

John and Carolyn have asked us to go to Tenerife again this May. We will have to see, as we have to go to Spain also, to see Conrad. Two lots of flights and eating out won't be cheap, and funds are limited, for us old people. <3 <3 <3 Everybody say Ahhhhh

See you in the morning God bless you all.

Gillx Report 1 Mar 2015 23:06

Yes Jane it's a condenser boiler, I'm not expecting it to keep working. I was surprised it worked today and glad. Sandra and I were so cold and our electric fire in the living room started making a funny noise so I had to turn it off and get our little heater to try and keep us warm.

In the end I had no choice but to try the heating again. I kept bobbing in and out of the kitchen keeping an eye on the pressure. I even thought something had come loose and when the plumber came the other day and took it apart, when he put it back together again what ever was loose had then been tightened up. Silly way of thinking but I really couldn't understand why the boiler seemed to be working ok today when it wasn't the other day. At least I have another plumbers number to hand thanks to Ann, should anything go wrong again. I didn't know about the condenser thing so thank you for telling me Jane.

Glad to hear you sold your horse lorry Liz and at the price you wanted, you were lucky, normally people try to knock the price down.

Ahhhhh Frank :-D :-D. Maybe you could do Spain this year and Tenerife next year. Sounds like you had fun with your hoover, at least it's sorted now. Yes I hope the boiler does keep working but I think having it checked out might be a good idea, it's just getting the money together to pay the plumber, lets hope it keeps working until then. I'm not going to put it on the timer, we don't want to wake up to a flood. We'll just put it on if and when we really need to during the day.

Well, I'm off to bed now, didn't get a lot of sleep last night so I'm hoping tonight will be better. See you all in the morning.

Morning all and evening Kim,

Bright morning again but it keeps clouding over a bit then the sun comes out again. Funny old day.

WE've just had noisy planes fly over. Hav'nt had that for a while now.

Slept ok last night again thank goodness. Woke at quarter to 8 and went back to sleep again.

Must put the washing on the line see if I can get it dry as there's a bit of a breezy wind.

Frank Report 2 Mar 2015 11:06

Morning All, Evening Kim,

Very blustery morning here, clouds flying across the sky. No chance of me going out today.

Gill, I should put your boiler on while you are home, then you can keep an eye on it. I would still contact the Manufacture as it might still be under GUARANTEE a lot of boilers have a TEN YEAR ONE.

We get pestered by these small planes. We have a airdrome at Sywell about 10 miles from here, at weekends they seem to be up and down all blooming day. Do you get them too Jane ??

Have spoken to Conrad this morning Sales are going very well. A total of SEVEN last week. So they should have a fair bit of money to come when completed. Jan is flying out at 7.30 am tomorrow from Bristol, so she will have to be on the road early.

No plans for today, other than Shower and Shave, and book reading, and finish off yesterday's paper. EXCITING ISN'T IT :-D :-D :-D :-D

We put the van onto a horse and rider site just after Xmas Frank, so it's taken a while to find a buyer! We were on the verge of reducing the price for a quick sale, but we were saved by the bell so to speak!
Just off out to Westonbirt to look round the aboretum (spelling?!) then a pub lunch!!
