Yes it's true, if you go out of season it's much quieter. This year we shall be going to our Austrian wedding, so that will probably be it as it won't be cheap!! Next year, Florence would be lovely - I too love Italy!!! Actually I love Europe as I guess you do!!

Its good your back is a little better Mandy. You'll have to warm the pool up with some lemonade bottles full of hot water before Katie will go in. Have you ever tried that? We did it for our son when we had the 16 foot above ground pool in the 70's and we used to leave the hose in the sun and put that water in the pool too.

I remember having mums galvenised bath out on the back lawn as a child. I thinkit was the one she used with the mangle that was in the shed. There's a pic of me in it somewhere in my favorite costume which was black white and blue flowers.

I have a picture mum painted when I was a child, hanging in the little loo here. I can remember sitting in the back of mums chair while she was doing the outlines of the picture in faint brown paint. Its dated 1952 so I was three.

I hope Anne's ribs are getting easier now. You just don't realize how you move your body doing just simple things till it hursts.

Morning all,

Pinch and a punch for the first of the month. So where did the rest of the year go? Its now only 6 months till Christmas!! %3A-S

Cloudy here todayand it looks like it may rain.

Nothing planned for today but I could do some more ironing like I did yesterday morning and then clean the big bathroom. I did the little one yesterday right through.

Chicken pieces for dinner tonight.

Morning Mel morning all

Sunny here so no thunder storms yet. It rained a little last night but not enough to do anything, so OH and I have spent the last couple of hours watering all our pots, so that job is out of the way. No doubt we'll get the rain later.

It was very quiet on here yesterday wasn't it? I had a few problems with the error page so decided to do the post date thing which thankfully worked. I still find it strange reading the posts backwards though %3A-S It's very confusing.

I hope everyone's aches and pains are better today.

We say "White Rabbits" three times on the first of the month. It must be a Northern thing %3B-%29

I'm like you Mel and wondering where the year has gone, mind you it's not been a very good one for us this year so I'll be glad when it's over, so it can go by as quickly as it likes for me.

We've not got anything planned for today either, so I'll be doing some more of my family tree as this word document is going to take ages to do, so if I do some each day I'll soon have it done. OH's cough's almost gone so once he's better we'll finish off the draw fronts on the kitchen, we've done everything else but then got ill before we had a chance to finish it. There's only four to do so once I've worked out how to measure it properly we can attach them to the original draws. They don't quite line up so there would be a gap between the door and the draw if I followed the original marks, plus the new draw front would be to high for it to close underneath the worktop, so I'll have to work out how to mark it so it closes properly.

Anyway I'd better go and do some more of my tree. See you all later.

Well I have got here after a long hawl through the pages. Its the only way I can get on here now.

The suns been out and gone in again but its very warm today.

I have hoovered up all the cobwebs in the kitchen and am just about to hoover the dining area and the hall before getting lunch.

Did Liz say they were going out today?

I do miss reading Franks posts and he's only been gone a couple of days. Hope they are enjoying themselves. %26lt%3B3

Well better get on as its nearly time to get some lunch.

Oh is pickling about outside with some wood making a frame to go on our plain back wall.

Gillx Report 1 Jun 2018 16:40

Another quiet day on here again I see.

I'm having to do the post date thing Mel as I keep getting the error page every time I try to get to the last page, so gave up in the end.

So you're all cobweb free again then Mel? OH decided to sand the bathroom ceiling as the paint is starting to flake off with the moisture in there and he wanted to re-paint. You should of seen him he looked like a snowman. To give him his due he wore a mask and has cleaned up all his mess, then had a nice bath. He said he had to wash his hair twice which I can well believe.

Yes, I'm missing Frank on here too, but I'm sure he's having a great time away which he needs with waiting for his blood results. It'll take his mind of it and Ros's operation, so the break will do them both good.

We've had lovely sunshine and it's been really hot, but over the last few minutes it's gone really cold and OH said he heard a rumble of thunder, so I'm expecting a bit of storm shortly. I've closed the greenhouse door just in case as I don't think touching that in lightening is a good idea. I'm just glad a managed to get all my washing dry on the line and have now brought it in, so at least it didn't get rained on. If we do get some rain it will water the pots which will save us doing them, so that's good too.

I noticed today that the climbing bluebell bush my mum gave me has started to flower. The flowers are tiny, not at all like the picture, it makes me wonder how much they had to enlarge the pic to make it look so good. The flowers look more like forget me knot's than bluebells, but still pretty and there are a fair few of them, so it should look lovely when all the flowers come out.

Going to sort something out to eat now, I haven't eaten all day and I'm really hungry. I'll try and pop back on here later if Genes and the weather let me.

Afternoon All

Oh my goodness itis so humid today, more so now this afternoon than this morning. I have just been to Padders footwear shop and it was so hot in there(they had turned off the air con !!!! ) I had to leave without buying anything.I tried on several pairs of sandals but was sweating so much I couldn't stay any longer.I am now sat in front of the big fan %3A-D

Gill, I bet it won't take you too long to sort out those drawer fronts once you get them lined up right.

Mel there should be something in your post tomorrow. If not tomorrow then Monday %3A-D

Mandy I hope your back is less painful today . Have you got the pool warmed up enough yet for the children? If it is as hot with you as it is here they will be desperate to dive in %3A-D

Chris tried ot book the Eurostar back from Paris for September but found out that there will be no trains running on that day,so we have had to book an extra night. We had booked one Hotel for 3 nights before going on down to Anency and one night on the way back the night before getting the Eurostar home. Tried to book the extra night at that Hotel but they are fully booked so have had to cancel that one and book another Hotel ! All a bit of a pain really but at least we have another night in Paris %3A-D. I will need to make sure the Cattery can keep Thomas for that further night.

I reckon Frank will be in his shorts will a nice cold beer now %3A-D Do we know what part of Spain he is in?

I have to go and put something really cool on and splash a lot of cold water over my face.

Morning all,

Phew so muggy here this morning ,light rain when we got up then it tipped down just as we were ready to go out so we held on for ten minutes, went and got the fruit ,veg and salad stuff called at sons and dropped their fruit off and had a coffee with them now i have the bedding in the washer and have a pile of ironing to do and i need to hoover through .

Your OH really enjoys your sausage rolls doesn't he Mel ,i tend to only make them near Christmas, i thought i might have a go at making some chocolate Eclairs later .
Right better get on BBL.

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 2 Jun 2018 12:19

Some very busy days here, and today bed changing and loads of washing %3A-%7C thank goodness I don't have to iron it, well maybe a couple of tops under duress!! but nothing much! Think I'd leave home if I had that to do as well!!!!
Glad everyone is ok.

Afternoon All
Muggy here too Mandy %3A-S,but not as bad as yesterday. No sun,. We could do with a good bit of rain to clear the air.
Mel you are the Sausage roll Queen LOL. I used to make them too just at Christmas but now I buy them as we don't really eat that many and you can get some really good ones now. I sometimes buy James 1 Pork and Chilli one for him to take to work. One is enough as it is quite big.I dont really like all the pastry on them.

I went to Sports Direct this morning and got a pair of Skechers. They have to be the most comfortable footwear I have had in a very long time. I have 2 pairs now .They will be perfect for the Peak District and the Vineyard next week.I wont need anything smart . Maybe just a pair of flats for when we eat in the restaurant at the Vineyard. I am keeping my fingers crossed the weather will be dry as it won't pleasant walking on wet mucky pathways through the vines.

There is not a breath of air here, not even a tiny bit of breeze. So the fan is on again.

Mel did you get any post?

Mandy I am going PM you.

Jane

Jane Report 2 Jun 2018 13:31

Liz your post popped up after I posted. Was it yesterday you had your Physio appointment ? I can't remember %3A-S. If it was how did it go?

I need to strip James's bed. He was supposed to have done it before he went last night BUT DIDN'T %3A-S %3A-S. I will just bung it in the tumble dryer rather than on the line as there is so much pollen coming off the Pine Tree next to the line . It is like puffs of smoke !!!. There was so much in one go the other day I thought it was smoke from a bonfire !!!. I tried to get a pic and managed to get some of it blowing off the pine cones.

Bunnyboo

Bunnyboo Report 2 Jun 2018 13:48

No, My physio is on Tuesday Jane. I will keep you posted as to how I get on. My sciatica is much better, but still niggles!
Nothing much happening here today apart from 'washing'!!! OH is mowing, I'm at last sitting in the sun that has finally shown its face.

Gillx

Gillx Report 2 Jun 2018 14:48

Afternoon all

Well the rain has finally stopped, it's been pouring down since we got up this morning. At least we won't have to water the garden, so that's good. I had to tie my tomato plants to canes this morning, they are so big now they were falling sideways.

We have new neighbours across the road and at 12.30 till around 1am their house alarm was going off. OH thought it might of been next door to them as one of our other neighbours has a key with them being away and he thought he hasn't heard the alarm so was going to let him know. Then today the daughter who looks after her 99 year old mother next door left her car window open. Luckily OH was going to our car and went round to let her know. I bet her car seat is soaked now and it's a new car, she's only had it a few weeks.

OH has cleaned the inside of some of our windows and I've hoovered the floors, then I had a lovely bath, so need to dry my hair now. The washing machine is on but I think I'll have to use the dryer with it being so wet outside.

So you've bought some new Sketchers Jane, lets hope the weather is dry then you can walk around in comfort when you go away.

Your OH does like his sausage rolls doesn't he Mel? My OH likes them to but I tend to make them more around Christmas or he'd have me making them all the time. I was like you today Mel and couldn't get to the last page, so did the post date thing instead.

So you're going to be busy making Chocolate Éclairs Mandy. I used to have to make 200 a day when I worked in a bakery at 16. They used to be my favourite cake, not so much now though.

Pleased to hear your sciatica is much better now Liz, good luck for Tuesday. Lucky you having the sun, enjoy sitting out in it.

Well, I'd better go and dry my hair, it'll go frizzy if I leave it to dry on it's own. I've got a message on Genes about someone on my family tree, so need to answer that too.

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 2 Jun 2018 15:44

I lifted up a big pot on the patio that was in a stoneware pot and in the bottom was a perfect dead May Bug. I put it on my weeding seat and came in for the camera and a pound coin to put next to it to give you the size of it and when I went back out the Blackbird had taken it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! He was on the grass so I went down the steps as he was bashing it on the ground but it flew off with it.

Gillx

Gillx Report 2 Jun 2018 17:48

That's the problems with birds Mel, they see something and want it. I've just seen two Magpies harassing some pigeons, I think they were trying to get to the pigeons nest and probably succeeded as the pigeons flew away and the magpies went into the tree. It a big conifer so I couldn't see exactly what was going on, but imagine it wasn't good.
