Good morning to you all, and LES and Elizabeth EOS.

Thanks for your memories Les, Like me born near all the blitz, and lots of memories. Lets have some more. Where are you living now.??

Thank you Elizabeth for your kind words and thoughts.

Well We have TWO very contented dogs. They meet last night and got on immediately. Where one goes the other follows. They wander around the garden covering every bush with sniffs. At the moment JJ is on his blanket in the armchair. and Biggles on the sofa. Both had breakfast. You have to watch Biggles as he tries to eats JJs.

We have been invited to Pam and Denis for coffee at 10,30. With all we have to do we could really do without going. Ros has to go back to the Chemist for two lots of Tablets that they didn't have in stock.

Sarah who walks Biggles is having him tomorrow while we are out, I will get Tony to let JJ out for a pee at lunchtime. We will get Biggles back when we return. We don't know when Jo is picking up JJ but we will find out tomorrow.

I see your chickens are all "Present and correct" then Mel. Have you seem the little FOX again.??

Ros bought me a tube f "DEEP HEAT" yesterday. I put some on last night, and I do believe it is HELPING, even though it stings when you put it on.

I'm off for my shower and shave, so as to leave the bathroom empty for madam.

Have a good day, even though yje weather is miserable.

Morning Frank and all,

Brightish day here but they forcast rain at some point during the day. Oh is out spraying the lawns with miricle grow lawn feed. He is trying it as he has'nt used that before. He usually uses Weed and Feed in a granular stuff and puts it on with the spreader but this is a spray.

I have to get the eggs around Em's early this morning as she is going out so see you later.

Frank Report 26 May 2018 12:17

Just back from coffee wth Pam and Denis, they have bough us a Rose for our Anniversary called "RUBY WEDDING" Would you believe, Simon and Sally bought exactly the same rose.

It seems a bit brighter here now, Ros has just put out the bedding on the line, so hope it stays dry. She has also found an empty egg shell on the lawn, so there are babies around somewhere.

Green Thumb didn't show yesterday, and no eMail today to apologise or to say when they will be coming.

Off for a pint and see the lads before we go on holiday, to they will wonder where I have got too.

. ;-) ;-)

BIL turned up this morning and when I delivered the eggs next door to Em her sister was there, Sophi so we had a really good natter. I have fed the chickens and bantams and been to the shop and done lunch after BIL left and started watching the qualifying.

So nothing constructive going on here. O and it rained this morning for a while too.

L rang earlier! She and A were collecting four chickens from a farm our side of Bath, so they called in for a couple of hours to see us on their way home. It was lovely to see them and they were both in good spirits! Sun came out so we sat outside and it was very warm! Cas was pleased to see them too and got a lot of fussing! She's crashed out now!!
Time for supper now!

Evening all,

It's been a beautiful day here sunshine all day .

We nipped to get the fruit and veg this morning and took some to the children ,son was doing a bit of tidying up on their front garden and i had a rose for them to put in ,it was a cutting i took from my Nanny's rose last year .

Well we need a new pump for the pool so son will sort that out for us in the morning ,the children have been asking if they can go in the pool but we told them it needs to warm up a little first .

That was nice to get the Roses Frank ,you can have a his and hers :-D
It's good the two dogs have settled together so well ,it would have been a job to keep them apart .
Hope you've got all your tablets sorted now ready for the holiday ,is it next week you go ?

Bet there's been lot of wedding talk at Jane's today :-)

Gillx Report 26 May 2018 19:25

I've finally been able to get on here, all I've got all day is the error page :-|

I see you have two Ruby Wedding Roses Frank, how nice they'll look in one of your borders. Pleased to see both dogs are getting on well together, I bet that was a relief?

What a shame you need a new pump for your swimming pool Mandy. How long does it take to warm up? It sounds like the children can't wait....bless them.

How nice having surprise visitors Liz and also good weather to sit outside too.

I'm just watching the last programme of the Chelsea Flower Show, I've really enjoyed them. I'm going to miss watching them, they've given me lots of good ideas. I've had another go at sorting out my pots in one of my borders in the back garden. We had some Bamboo's in there but they looked like they weren't very happy, so they've had to be moved and other's put in their place. The border is going to look really nice once all the flowers bloom. I've noticed there are a few poppies about to flower too.

Good morning all,

Nice sunny morning here, after the Thunder and Lightning during the night. It pored with rain. Both the dogs took no notice of the storm. I really can't believe how well they have got on. I bet they will miss each others company, when they go home.

We had another great surprise last night. Lewis came up for the evening to bring our anniversary card and a pair of shorts for Jan. He stayed until 10.00 pm. Had a Chinese takeaway with us, and sat with me and watched the disaster of Liverpools Goalkeeper. His blunders cost them the MATCH. !!!

Sarah is coming for Biggles soon, we will ring her when we get back this afternoon. JJ will be left here. I will ring Tony if we are going to be late, He can then pop and let him out. We are not sure when Jo is going back to Devon, tomorrow or Tuesday. Jan will stay at Kerry's until Wednesday, when she will come over to us, as we are on the same flight.

Must go to get ready, we have to be there by NOON.

Morning Frank morning all

Sunny and warm here but a few dodgy clouds about so it looks like we might be in for a bit of rain. OH is weeding the front garden ready for us to put in some plants. We're not sure what plants we're putting in yet, but need a few evergreens as it looks very bare in the winter.

Sandra has finished her antibiotics so didn't have to get up early this morning which pleased her. She's looking much better now but still has a bit of a cough and is complaining about her throat, saying it still hurts, so we might have to take her back to the doctors to see if it's a virus or whether she needs more meds. At least she's sleeping better now, so that's good.

I know what you mean about Liverpool's goalkeeper Frank, what an idiot he was, I couldn't believe what I was seeing and like you said, it cost them dearly. I wouldn't want to be him after the match, he was an embarrassment to the team wasn't he?

I meant to ask Frank, what date is your anniversary, I don't remember you telling us? I think you said it was in June but I don't think you told us the date? Sorry if you have and I've missed it. I just want to wish you happy anniversary on the day. Pleased to hear the storm didn't upset the dogs, loud noises can really frightened them sometimes so I'm pleased they were alright.

We could do with a bit of a down pour of rain here, we did have some rain the other day but not enough for all the plants I've got. I think rain water is better than tap water for them. I've watered the plants in the greenhouse this morning and noticed the climbing bluebell is growing really big and bushy now, it looks like there are a few very small flowers coming, so that'll be interesting to see when they bloom. I give it lots of water and it seems to like it and has really shot up recently, I think because it's a climber I might need to invest in some sort of support for it as it's wrapping itself around itself and I don't know if it's supposed to do that, I don't want it to choke. I think I might Google it as I'd be upset if I lost it.

My Canna Lily hasn't done anything this year so that's gone outside now. It's been great ever since I planted the seeds and has always stayed in the greenhouse, but so far nothing has happened. It's a pity as it was a lovely plant. Maybe now it's outside it might benefit from the rain, if we get some and sprout new shoots.

Going to watch the F1 this afternoon, so it's an early lunch so we're not eating when the race starts.

I've been doing some more of my family tree and have found a few connections on Genes, one of them lives in Australia, which is lucky as it's my Australian ancestors I'm on at the moment. I've offered to help with any English records they may need as they have the same problem I have in finding them with not living in the UK. They have kindly offered to help me with my Australian records, so that should save me some time. It's nice when we can help each other :-)

Afternoon all,

Gosh what a night we had last night. We were eating dinner when there was a huge lightening flash followed immediately by an enomous clap of thunder and out went the leccy. The lightening was coming before the thunder stopped grumbling and it carried on like that for 20 mins. The whole storm lasted about three quarters of an hour but there was still lightening in the sky up till 1.30am.

I hav'nt got back up the border as every time I was going it started to rain so I stayed in and did some sewing.

BIL came yesterday morning so we had a good natter. He never tells us when he is coming which would give me a chance to have a tidy up. With doing the box hedge last week I am afraid the house has suffered a bit. I did clean the bathroom and hoovered during the week but I did'nt get around to putting things away. Did lots of washing too and some ironing but the kitchen is a mess with all my craft bits around and spread out so I can see what I want to use.

Frank that was lovely to get two rose bushed the same flavour and how thoughtfull. Some thing to remember your Wedding Anniversary by.

I made another pin cushion yesterday and the day before but beaded it last night when oh had gone to bed.

I will get around to sending some pics of the box hedge soon and the new pin cushion.

Must get back to the race now.

Evening all,

Well it's been another lovely day here until about an hour ago when it started to thunder ,it sounds as if there's been quite a few storms about over night and flash flooding too .

Gill i lost my Canna plant ,i did find some more seeds in the shed that i took from the plant ,i might plant them up and see what they do ,they are a lovely flower and look good in a big pot .

Thanks Mel for the photo's ,OH has done very well to get that hedge all cut ,what a hedge to have to tackle and it couldn't have been an easy job with those steps perched on the trailer i would have been worried it would tip ,i can see why you didn't want to go out while he was doing it ,hasn't he made the lawns look good with the stripes , gold star for him :-D

Son has ordered us a new pump for the pool ,i think the children thought they would be going in for a dip today , the pump should be here in a couple of days so they won't have to long to wait and it's half term so they can come later in the week.
They are all off to the zoo tomorrow ,well all except Jake he didn't want to go so he's coming here for the day .

Oh thundering again better turn off.

I was wondering if taking the Cana lily out of the pot and re-potting it might help Mandy, so if nothing happens this year that's what I'll do before the winter sets in. It's been in the same pot ever since I first planted it, so re-potting might just give it the boost it needs to grow again. I had some seeds over but can't seem to find them. I did have them in an envelope in a draw in the dining room but had a good sort out earlier this year and moved them, the problem is I can't remember where I moved them to. I had lots of other seeds I'd collected with them too, so I'll have to have a good look around, I don't think they'll be very far.

We've had thunder and lightening this afternoon and it poured with rain, luckily both the front and back gardens have been weeded so we left the rain to water all our pots and watched the TV. I'd recorded a history programme on Chester when the Romans were there, it was fascinating. I didn't know the race course was once the mouth to the estuary where there was a harbour with all the ships coming and going. Chester is now 10 miles away from the sea and apparently the race course is 6 meters higher than it was when the Romans were around because of all the silt building up for almost 2000 years. There were also lots of other interesting facts, it was a brilliant programme. I just wish I'd recorded the rest of the series as they were covering other parts of the UK, but I forgot to put the series link on when I put it on the planner.

It sounds like everyone has had thunder and lightening. Did you manage to get your leccy back on Mel? I don't think I'll worry to much about my little hedge from now on when I saw the size of the one your poor OH had to cut. He did a brilliant job didn't he?

OH took Sandra back to the doctors before with her throat still being sort but thankfully the infections have gone so her throat should feel much better soon. I think it's so sore because of all the coughing she's done lately. I have noticed she's not coughing as much now so hopefully things will be back to normal for her soon. She's much happier now she's managing some sleep and is pleased she doesn't have to get up early to take antibiotics anymore.

Gill was that program Digging For Britian? You can see them on Iplayer. I watched them they were so interesting.

Glad you liked the pics of the hedge. Did you get the other pics of the pin cushions?

Gillx

Gillx Report 27 May 2018 23:14

No Mel, it was called "Britain's Most Historic Towns" and was on Channel 4. I've got a feeling they may bring the series out on DVD so if they do I'll buy it as I'd like to keep the Chester one anyway.

I only got the pictures of the hedge, no pin cushions. Could you send the pin cushion one please, I'd love to see it. Thanks.

Off to bed now, see you all tomorrow
Night Night.

Good morning Mel and All,

What a storm last night again. It started around 7.00 pm. and went on and on. Thunder lightning and heavy rain. I see on FB this morning the the road into own was so flooded it was up the car doors, and the main A 43 through the village was like a river.

We had a nice time yesterday. The only trouble was there were TEN of us, and spread out down two tables. So very difficult to talk to each other. Alexander had piles of presents, and loved the inflatable DINASORE (sp) we bought. It did seem strange eating a RACK OF RIBS, chips, sweetcorn and coleslaw for SUNDAY DINNER. All we had la night was a Salmon Salad (ROS) Sarnie for me. ;-) ;-) ;-)

Today was suppose to be the hottest of the weekend. I don't see that happening.

Jo is picking up JJ around 1.00 pm. When he's gone, and if Biggles has had his walk with Sarah, I will take Ros out to eat.

No plans for today except o DRAG the green bin up the drive. I will have o put a WARNING on it "VERY HEAVY" I don't want he bin man doing his back in, moving it.

Stay safe and happy, xxxx
