Evening all,
Weathers been a bit on the dull side today ,i thought it was going to rain at one point this afternoon as there were so many grey looking clouds about . Been sorting more stuff in the bungalow ,we took a load of old baking tins and saucepans to the tip and now there is china and pyrex to go to the charity shop.
Nice to see you back Jane it sounds as if you had a nice time away , it was a lovely view you had from your room ,they should have checked your bill so it was their fault they didn't charge for the drinks , nice to get a freebie LOL The parcel came yesterday thank you ,the girls came today and had a little dress up with it :-) Well done to Hannah and the girls i bet they all sleep well tonight .

Good morning everyone
Good to hear from Elizabeth again
Managed to get on here with 1st try which hasn't happened for a long time.
Got the third lot of washing in the machine, have already done the towels, then Richard's work clothes and now shirts, tops etc.
I had to take Ruby to the vets yesterday at first I thought she may have a blocked Anal gland and then what appeared to be a boil was protruding from her bottom after a while this seemed to have burst and it was bleeding a lot, the vet said she had an infection and prescribed antibiotics and a liquid pain killer. Now the fun starts she is the world's worst for taking tablets the vet advised giving them with cheese spread worked first time and no more she has to take two at a time so have tried with other treats with no luck any ideas would be appreciated
Glad to see you back Jane and pleased that all went well apart from Faulty Towers
Mel you and your OH have been very busy in the garden so maybe you can relax once you have delivered the eggs and picked up the paper

No relaxing when you have arces of garden as its like painting the fourth bridge. Oh has been mowing this morning and I had a good natter at Em's as she was still there and getting Sam ready for swimming. He told me again today that he can now swim 5 meters which dos'nt mean a thing to me but he is going to try his 10 meters today. Em's mum and dad were there too so when Em went off with Sam I stayed and talked to them and Ed and George. George had this putty stuff that is magnetic and he was showig us what it did with a magnet and it bounced too. It is kept in a tin and if you put the magnet on top of the tin when you open it a bit later on it comes up to a point towards the magnet. Fasinating.............. the things these kids of today have. I can remember having a magnet when I was small and having great fun with it with some ball bearings given to me by an uncle and iron filings. Putting the magnet under the table and making metal things move around like magic. All good fun and entertainment then and now.
My dad once gave my son a magnet out of an old electric meter which was very strong. He had it tied to a piece of string and played with that for hours. I never did know where that went.
I bought some little bedding begonias this morning. They had some outside the shop and they were priced at £2.50 a tray of 6 but I had spied some a bit smaller on a friends stall outside her house and on the way back I stopped to have a look and they were £1.25 so I bought two trays. I am going to put them in the Clematis tubs out the front now all the bulbs are over.

Afternoon All Oh Poor Ruby Anne.It must be very painful for her to sit down :-(. I don't know what to suggest about how to give her tablets. I know with Chester I would wrap them in a bit of ham and hold it high above his head so his head was tipped right back and then tease him a bit so he got excited about the ham then just as he went to grab it I would drop it in his mouth and then hold his head tipped back a bit and gave his throat a good firm stroke until he had swallowed. That usually worked if it all went down in one go. The other thing is I wonder if liquid antibiotics are available and it could be squirted onto the food. If only they understood we are just trying our best to make them better :-D
Thomas is home and has just had a Rabbit.Probably the Baby one that has been in the garden since Thomas went to the cattery :-S.I picked him up this morning and Ann the cattery lady asked if `i would like some eggs as she had a real glut of them .So I came away with a dozen :-D.They just needed a wash to get the muck off.So with the 6 eggs I already have I now have 18 !!!!. Good job Hannah and gareth are coming next friday or saturday as Hannah makes a cracking good omelette .
Hello Elizabeth .I hope you are having a lovely weekend too.Maybe you will have a little more sunshine than I do here. Its warm but quite overcast.
We had a Lancaster Bomber fly over earlier. There is some big War event at Wicksteed Park this weekend.I wonder what else might fly overhead tomorrow.
I can't remember if I sent a pic of Hannah up Ben Nevis. Did I? If not I will do so.I bet she is aching today. There is the most noisiest Male Blackbird here. It must have babies somewhere in the hedge ,but the moment it sees Thomas all hell lets lose .The noise it makes is ear piercing and it goes on and on and on until Thomas moves off .It even stalks Thomas really quite closely and screeches at him.But it just goes over Thomas's head LOL . What with the blackbird and the dogs barking next door and next door again I can honestly say it is not really a peaceful Saturday afternoon.
Merl I have never heard of Magnetic Putty the boys have. It sounds fun . I am so out of touch with what children have these days ,it makes me feel like a dinasaur.
Glad the girls enjoyed dressing up Mandy :-D :-D
I need a cold drink. It seems ot be getting a lot warmer now.

Its baking hot here and the suns out too. I just watered all my pots and had a blimmin horse fly around me so I gave that up and came in and washed up the lunch things. I am now going to attempt to go out again and may put some of oh's Jungle Juice on although I can't stand the smell of it!! :-S :-S He was bitten all aropund his ankle whilst moving before lunch and was complaining about the five bites he got. He is taking the Pirineze (sp) nasal spray which is once a day and he takes it at night but says you must'nt use any other antihystamins with it. I have some I could give him but he won't take them.
Anne what is it that Ruby really likes? Does she like a little bit of bread and thick butter? you could try that with a pill popped inside. Or marmite or bovril on a bit of bread. You can also buy what they call Pill Poppers, have you tried those?

Mel ,it turned out really hot here for a little while when the sun came out.We both have bites from some horrible midgies or other bugs. Chris has one right on the side of his nose at the top where his specs sit,and I have one on my hand which has been so itchy now for about 2 days.I just keep having to rub in the antihistamine cream that I bought last year in France when I was half bitten to death . I hope the Horsefly doesn't give you a bite. They are so nasty. My Niece Rachel (janice's daughter had to go to A&E the other day as she had such a bad reaction to some insect bites. Her whole hand and arm almost up to her elbow swelled up so badly and her fingers were like sausages. Her hand went cold too.She was put on Antibiotics straight away and was told if things didnt improve within 12 hours she had to go back for IV treatment . Luckily she didn't have to do that .A few years ago when she was on holiday abroad the same thing happened and she ended up in hospital on a drip ! It is the Ticks we need to worry about .There has been a big awareness thing on TV about the terrible effects that can happen after being bitten by a Tick.Just be Tick aware.
Unhealthy dinner for us tonight. Burgers and Chips. The healthier bit is Mushrooms ,Asparagus and Tomatoes :-D I hope Liz is having a lovely time with her visitors .At least the weather is good for them. When is Frank home? It seems like he has been gone for Yonks!!! It must be sometine next week .He will be as brown as a berry now after all the Spanish sunshine :-)

Evening all,
Another grey old day and quite chilly now.
Mel i have sent you another PM .
Poor little Ruby ,they way i give tablets to Max is get the tablet wrapped in ham ready , get a piece of ham in my hand and give him a piece ,then another piece then the tablet wrapped in a piece of ham and then another piece of ham ,he's so busy eyeing up the ham he doesn't realise he's had the tablets ,you just need to find some thing she really likes ,i think if you just use cheese spread or some thing soft they just lick it off the tablet . You could just try dropping the tablet and see if she goes for it that way ,they always seem to go for things you drop .
Jane i would like to see the photo of Hannah up the mountain ,i expect she's tired and sore today.
I made some more Eclairs today , they didn't turn out like the first lot i made these were flat as a pancake :-S no idea what i did wrong the only thing i can think of is i did double up the mix so maybe i shouldn't have .
Those old Horse flies can really nip you ,i find its gnats that nip into me though when i go out to water thd pots later in the day.

Got the pm Mandy thank you.
It was when I was watering that the fly would'nt leave me alone. I think they like the dampness as they get oh when he is in the shade mowing. I did'nt get it this time though I am thankfull to say. I get a very bad reaction as once I had one on the back of the top of my leg and it swelled up and was hot and hard and you could have put a dinner plate over my leg and it would just have covered it. I also had one in the middle of the back of my right hand which made a swelling starting just past my knuckles to my wrist. You know how a babies hand is with dimples where the knuckle are well mine looked just like that and my knuckles stick up a lot. I put a flannel on that one with ice cubes in it and that helped a lot.
Done my two tubs with the clematis in and put mulch on the top and planted 5 begonias in each. Now I am going to cook the dinner. Steak, mushrooms, asparagus chips for him and rosti for me and onion rings for him and fried onions for me and a tomato.

I can imagine it would be hard on the knees coming down Jane ,you'd have to very careful where you placed your feet or you'd be coming down a wallop ,like you i wouldn't have got very far either .

Evening All,
Yes, it is me just popping back to say hello while things are quiet!
Nice to see EOS as she's such a kindly person and I hope she is enjoying her weekend too.
I bet Frank is living in his shorts now and soaking up the sun on a lounger.
Oh Mandy with you clearing the bungalow you have brought back memories of our still crammed garage. With OH between cataract ops we'd better not touch it yet or goodness knows what he will be throwing out or knocking over! lol. For years he's always complained about needing lights on, now with just one eye done he is saying how bright everything is and wearing sunglasses just to go outside!
I hope your ribs are feeling better Anne and that you find a way to get those pills into Ruby!
That would be a good climb up Ben Nevis for Hannah, it's higher than Snowdon which I climbed in my mid 30s. You feel so good when you've done it though and a lasting happy memory for me was getting up the next morning and liking how my waistband was looser. lol.
I have had quite an interesting day looking at some open gardens including one where I used to live! We wandered into the back garden and the lady said she would point out where everything was! lol OH said 'I think Ann probably knows most of it as she used to live here'. Well the lady beamed at me then and called her husband over and I showed them photos I'd brought of how the place used to look when I moved in in the 70s. Bob then insisted I go inside and look all around which was great. They had done many of the next improvements we had planned to make, like using the loft space either side of the upstairs bedrooms to build wardrobes into and make en suites for the bedrooms. The kitchen was new, but I was amazed to see the fireplace we built of handmade bricks was still there. We had completely relaid the garden and most of it was still there, even the trees and shrubs, but with a lot more added. The very same greenhouse has been moved as has the pond. The summerhouse my ex made is still there as are the brick compost bins we made and rockery I built and the archway of roses. I told them how the front and side gates were made bigger and just wide enough to wheel the carriages through that we built. Bob beckoned me round to the back of the garage he'd extended with a timber building then and inside there were 4 vintage cars; a Ford Popular, two MG sports cars and a Ford GT40 racing car, which was winched up to the ceiling! He seemed quite chuffed he was carrying on the tradition of old vehicles at the address. Anyway, we were shaken firmly by the hand and told to drop in anytime we are passing which was nice and it felt good to know the old house is lived in by people who obviously love it. :-)
I wanted an early night tonight as the new neighbours opposite have had the equivalent of 'groundforce' in all last week redesigning their back garden and the workmen have been starting at 7.30am, which I wouldn't have let them do if it was our garden, :-( Last night though, there were drills going at 10.00pm at the builder's new house where an elderly Sikh couple moved in. This morning there is a marquee in their back garden so it looks like there is a 'do' of some sort imminent.......probably noisy too. They have 5 grown up sons so goodness knows where they will all park.
Off to watch telly now so tatty bye from me for now.......I still miss you!

Oh Ann it's lovely to see you posting on here again we miss you too. How lovely to see your old house and to be able to go inside ,it must be nice to know that the people living there love it and have looked after it so well .
You said OH had had his cataract op i was wondering how he was getting on ,i see the Queen had that op and has been wearing sun glasses too .
That was very late to have drills going ,sounds as if they might be having a moving in party , you might get an invite !!

Hi to Ann. I'm so glad you dropped in and what a lovely welcome you had at your old house. It must have been interesting to see that they had kept a lot of the things you made in the garden and keeping vintage vehicles was a bonus too. Did they move in when you sold it? or are they the second or third people to have owned it?
Its gettig dark so I must go and feed the hogs and shut the girls in.
