Mel Fairy Godmother Report 6 Jun 2018 18:35

Well I have done all that I said and more. I dug out all the compost from the big tub for the runners and refilled it with new compost and farmyard manure and I am waiting for oh to put the wire back on the top as the beans have reach my shed roof and really need to go in.

Goodness Gill, don't overdo it and wear yourself out again!!!!.. I know how our feel though, it's so nice when jobs are done and dusted! :-D
Don't think I shall be on here for a day or two either, as we shall be out with our visitors, and as you say Gill, at the end of a busy day you can be very tired!
OH has been creosoting the timber round the bottom of the bungalow; it hasn't been done for about five years and was definitely looking scruffy. Looks good now and another job out of the way!!
Chicken for supper with new potatoes and mushrooms! Not too much effort!!
Next week, M is coming over to help OH fit a tow bar to the car. So lucky that he doesn't mind, in fact he often ask if there is anything we need helping with! usually it's No but this time it's been 'yes please!'

The swallows have been so busy building their nest!! Hopefully we shall have some babies in due course and I can get that pic Gill!!
OH is serving up supper, it's outside, so better go and sit up !!

Have just given oh a nice LARGE G & T to cool him down. Dinners in the oven and cooking well. Roast loin of pork with roasted parnips, carrots, potatoes and onions with stuffing for oh. I shall do some nice purple sprouting brocc with it so quite easy. Then cherry pie for dessert.

Glad you were pleased with your new hairdresser Liz and now you're all tidy again. I think its been a hair washing week with most of us this week. Mine is so soft and fly away I have had to put combs in the sides to keep my wispy bits under control.

It sounds like we've all been busy today. I'm off to bed shortly I can hardly keep my eyes open.

I love the smell of creosoting Liz if someone is doing their fence and it travels on the breeze. I don't suppose it's very healthy, but if it's in the air it can't be avoided.
Looking forward to seeing the pictures when you send them and I know Sandra will love them. She loves looking at all the pictures you all send. How are you getting on with your exercises? Hope all is going well for you.

I love Cherry pie Mel, your meal tonight sounded delicious . I just had a salad as I didn't fancy anything hot or heavy.

Signing out now, I'll try and get back on here later tomorrow if I'm not to tired. Have a nice time with your visitors Liz <3

Morning all

Lovely and sunny again. I was expecting to be busy all day today, but I've done all I can do today as the ground is far to hard for me to dig, so I measured where the posts were going and OH is going to dig the holes. I've done some washing and that is on the line, so I now have the rest of the day to myself. I'm using the time to catch up with all my recordings off the planner, it's almost full and the F1 is on really late this weekend so know doubt I'll need to record it for OH and I which means I need the space to do it.

I might paint the garden bench later if I get through all my programmes in time.

Peter Stringfellow died today, I didn't realise he was 77.

Yes, I noticed Mandy wasn't on here yesterday too, but like Liz said Mel, she was probably busy.

It's gone very quiet on here lately hasn't it?

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 7 Jun 2018 09:37

Morning Gill and all,

Its very warm here today but there's not a lot of sun its just grey sky at the moment. Perhaps it will brighten up later on. oh ds'nt mind as he is working in the back today and thats facing south so it won't be so hot for him without the sunshine.

I need to do some gardening as the weeds under the big ash tree are huge and some are docks and some are nettles. The mower won't go over the island bit under the tree but I may use the strimmer. We shall see.

I sent off for some shell charms from Amazon on the 30th May with silver bits around them. The picture showed nice shapes and they hav'nt arrived yet. I also saw them with gold around them so ordered those too. That came the other day and it turned out to be one shell. The pic on Amazon showed once again about ten shells. I thought I was getting those. When I read the reviews others had given one person said the same thing that they were not expecting ONE. The one I did get is really nice though.

I wonder how Anne is getting on. I hope her ribs are easing up now so she is more mobile. You don't realize how you use your rib cage till you've hurt it and lots of movements of different parts of your body make it hurt. Sending love to Anne <3.

I bet Gill is in the garden and Liz is out, Jane's away and Frank is in Spain but where's our Mandy??? :-D

Gillx Report 7 Jun 2018 17:53

I'm here now Mel. yes I've been helping OH this afternoon making sure all the measurements are right. He's not long finished and the fencing has been delivered. They delivered and charged us for the wrong size fence posts, the silly people sent us 8 foot posts instead of 6 foot ones. I ask you 8 foot posts for a 3 foot high fence, talk about daft. I rang them and to be fair they were really good and came straight back with the right size ones and some screws that we forgot to order, they still owe us a bit of money so I need to ring them in the morning for a refund as the shop is shut now. So we'll be making a start on the fence in the morning while it's cool as it's very hot in front garden with all the sun and it being south facing. I managed to watch a few programmes but with having to go out to help OH it's taken quite some time to get through them. I'm watching Garden Rescue now, I have a few of them on the planner so I'm looking forward to carrying on watching them this evening after my soaps.

That was naughty of Amazon to show ten shell charms Mel then only deliver one, at least you like it, but if they show ten then they should deliver ten. I hope it's not to long before the other one arrives. How did you get on in your garden? I bet it looks so much better now? It sounds like your OH is busy sorting out all that cleaning.

Well, I'd better get back to my programme before I loose track of what's going on.

Evening all,

I'm here Mel i'm here ,had a couple of busy days ,i should have gone to Norwich with DIL yesterday but things changed as i had to go to help the daughter of my friend that died ,we have started to go through all the kitchen cupboards sorting out what she wants to take and what can go to the charity shop ,i brought some kitchen bits home ,son has had some but there's so much more to sort, she has taken all she wants so the rest can be boxed up , Colin is going to help me so we might go tomorrow to sort some more ,the bungalow is now on the market ,if anyone wants to see it i'll give you the link in a PM .
So we swapped our days round and went to Norwich today ,it was so warm i feel pooped now

Hope your back is ok Gill after digging those post holes ,it sounds really hard work with the ground so hard .

It's a bit disappointing when you've sent for some thing and it's not quite what you thought it would be when it arrives but you sound as if your pleased with the one you did get Mel .
Is your old girl still with us ?

Hope you enjoy time with your company over the next few days Liz .

Just quickly as we're going out in about half an hour!! Yes our friends are here, and its really good to see them. The last time they came here was just after I broke my hip, and I wasn't mobile enough last year to visit them!
I won't be on here till Sunday as we're planning some outings tomorrow and Saturday.
Oh dear Gill, your fence posts !!! Don't do too much Mandy, you'll wear yourselves out!!
Glad Amazon didn't disappoint you too much Mel! Hope Anne is recovering. M cracked two ribs years ago when playing football! He was in a lot of pain for several weeks, so, poor Anne!!

Oh is still out there fighting with the bungalow. He has done all the fiddley bits around the windows and now he has the roller out. He had to take off the frames on the front with the clematis in full flower. They are propped up with bit of wood. He is outside the kitchen at the moment so I am going to corn the chickens and get a glance at what he has done.

He dumped all the 4 foot high docks and nettles I cut down from around the big ash tree and has the paint in the trailer now so he dos'nt have to bend much.

Morning all,

Grey skies again this morning for us but at least its not raining. So whats it like with you?

Oh finished the front yesterday evening and it looks really nice. He is now on the side (west) which faces the chicken run and his garage workshop.

I must try and get down the post this morning and see if I can catch the post van.

Slept like a log last night after my gardening etc.

Hope Liz has a nice couple of days with their friends. I bet Cas will enjoy it.

Jane Report 8 Jun 2018 18:33

I love you Mel :-D :-D
I'm home

We have had a really lovely couple of days away. The stay at the Vineyard was just perfect . As you can see from the view from our room down over the vineyards. It was so hot too,we could have been in Italy or the South of France LOL.Sadly no Grapes on the vines as it was a bit too early, but never the less is was a stunning place. We had are testing session of the wines and I have to say I wasn't that struck. Maybe English wines are an aquired taste. A couple were ok and we bought half a dozen bottles. The meal we had when Janice and Larry came was brilliant .After we left yesterday I asked Chris how much it all cost(the meal and drinks)We treated J&L. When he looked at the receipt and told me how cheap he thought it was I said were the drinks included.
NO THEY WEREN'T. They had forgotten to add them to the bill !!!!!! That must have been at least £50 !!!.. Their mistake :-D

The Hotel last night was a bit strange really. We called it Fautly Towers. The Lady owner was a little like Sybil .Scaffolding was up for painting and the decorators were right outside out bedroom window when we arrived. Not what you expect really. We heard water running in the ensuite and it was the valve in the toilet cistern stuck so had to get that sorted. Then the extractor fan wouldn't turn off and it made heck of a noise. The switch for that was high up on the bedroom wall ( I couldn't reach that) so Chris kept having to switch it off every time .The upside was there was a lovely garden where we sat with a G&T and our books until the decorators finished for the day,and the meal we had in the evening was delicious (no complaints there)
I don't think we would go back there again ,even though it could actually be a really lovely place. It was all just a bit odd LOL Run by Mother ,Father and Daughter and Harley the cat :-).

Hannah and her friends have climbed Ben Nevis today !!!!!. To say they are all totally cream crackered is an understatement . But they made it and a great achievement.
She said coming back down was the worst .I have a couple of pics.

I must go and empty the suitcase now .Just thought I would touch base with the thread first:-)

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 8 Jun 2018 18:53

Thank goodness you posted Jane or I would have been all on my own on here today.

Glad you had a nice couple of days. That was good about the drinks and as you say its their loss for making the mistake.

Oh has done the side and most of the back of the bungalow now so only the back lounge wall to do and the side by the kitchen door.

I did get mince out of the freezer for a sheep sh*t pie but I tidyed the front big tubs with the clematis in and swept up so it is now too late to cook it. I may do a chilli with it as he had toasted cheese sandwiches yesterday night.
