Afternoon All
FRank, I hope the Dr can help you with your neck and shoulder pain and that your tummy upset has finally finished. At least you didnt have that when you were away.
Oh what a terrible shock for Brian for Uncle George to suddenly pass away in his arms like that :-(.100 years old is an amazing age and it seems it was so sudden he couldn't have suffered at all. To be born and die in the same house he had lived in for 100 years is just incredible. He had a wonderfully 100th Birthday .I think he passed away a happy man ,and with a new haircut too :-). I do feel sorry for Brian and Martine .They probably can't quite get their heads around the suddeness yet of losing dear George.
Have you got the car now Mel? Hope it is all done and hasn't left you broke !!! James had a bit of a shock last week .He took his car in as he had a soft tyre and something with the brakes. He needed it sorting before going ot Durham tomorrow. 2 new tyres and what ever it was that needed fixing came to £400 :-S :-S.
Hannah sent me a pic of the toppers for the Cheese Tower for the wedding. It is 2 cows . The lady cow with a veil and the Man cow top hat and Bow Tie :-D :-D. I thought it was perfect to go on the cheese ,plus the connection and love of the the Cows his Dad has :-D
I think it is still quite close again today and that sun is really hot. We didn't have much of that wind last night but there was a lot of greenery blown off trees on the roads this morning. No big branches or anything though.Chris has had to tie the Peas up as they gor blown down a bit.We need to pick them tomorrow as they won't wait until we get home from our holiday.
I just need to cook rice tonight and do some Broccoli .The slow cooker has been on since 11 this morning.I am glad I did that :-D. I have no idea what time James will be in tonight. He was up at 4 and off at 5 ,had ot pick up a couple of work colleagues and then drive to Lincoln. Chris and I were just saying that we think his employer should have paid for an over night stay in Lincoln last night for the staff so at least they would be bright eyed and bushy tailed for this seminar today. James would have been up hours before anyone else :-S
Anne I meant to say the other night a 6month sabbatical for Pauls friend who works for Waitrose/John Lewis is a brilliant thing. I think many more companys should do this for long serving staff. How lovely to be able to spend a month here and there and just be able to enjoy life without all the strains of work for a few months.
How is Ruby now?
I need to go and plug the big fan in .I'm HOT :-S

Gill, I am sorry you were all left out for your Cousins Wedding :-(. Have you asked why? Or just letting it go. Not knowing the reason must be horrible. Yes i have been awake since 4am.I did doze off a bit after James left at 5.But it was all in fits and starts . Gareth did his 100k . After 70k his knee was playing up and giving him some grief but he finished and sent a pic of himself having a well earned pint :-D He was still smiling :-D :-D
Mel that was a good price for having the Cam belt done. Expensive enough though but under the £300 you were expecting :-)
I think I am going to be lazy and do pouches of rice tonight rather than the normal rice.I just can't be faffed now. Easy Peasy is what I need tonight :-)

Evening all,
Children have just had a dip in the pool ,DIL came with a lovely chocolate cake with cherries and cream it was so yummy .
Oh dear Frank sorry to hear you've had a dodgy tummy ,do you think it's the change in water ,that can happen if you've been abroad . That must have been such a shock for Brian seeing poor George die in his arms but a comfort to know he was with him at the end and that he didn't suffer .
Gosh Gill that was a tree and a half to cut down !! Sorry to hear you haven't been invited to your cousins wedding it must be very upsetting for you all ,are you close to your cousin ?
Jane the cake topper sounds just the thing for the cake ,carn't wait to see what it looks like on the cake . Well done to Gareth for finishing the race ,me thinks he might feel a little saddle sore tomorrow LOL
So the car cost wasn't to bad then Mel not as much as you thought it would be ,you'll have peace of mind now knowing the cam belt won't go when your driving .
Well the day has been quite nice and we have a lovely sunny evening here ,the wind has been quite gusty at times and we had to take the garden brolly down and put it in the shed just in case it took off.

Jane well done to Gareth for completing the100k bike ride, no wonder he needed a well earned drink. I'm surprised James' firm didn't pay for overnight accommodation prior to the meeting. most firms do this. The topper for the wedding cake brought a smile to my face visualising the cows dressed up as the happy couple. Both Richard and Paul use headphones if they don't want to listen to the TV when it's on, I don't think they would have been too expensive though
Pleased to see you back Frank and you had a lovely relaxing holiday but sorry to hear you have been under the weather since coming home, hopefully the Doctor will be able to sort something to help you .Sorry to hear about George passing away in Brian's arms but a good way to go for him but a nasty shock for everyone else in the family.
Mel that seems a good price for your car repair much cheaper than going to a main agent and probably nearer too.
Gill I can understand you being upset about the three of you not being invited to your cousin's wedding have you any idea why? May be your Mum can find out for you. Mandy your pool has been well used this year, we used to have one when Abbie & Becky were little The chocolate cake with the cherries and cream sounded delicious .Was it a Black Forest one?
I went down to South Hill Park yesterday for a COT with a couple of people I worked with it was so hot we sat out on the terrace under a sun umbrella . it was good having a catch up. I do miss it as it was such a lovely place to work.
Ruby has an appointment with the vet tomorrow afternoon, taking the tablets has been hit & miss but she did take both doses today. She is still full of energy so hopefully she will get the all clear.

How lovely for uncle George to go like that. No pain I should think as it was so quick and all spruced up too with the new haircut. Bless him.
Gill was the tree in the front garden??? Bet your glad its down now though. What kind of tree was it?

Anne I pleased Ruby took her pills again today. I hope she get the all clear from the vet tomorrow.
Mandy yes I was pleased with the car bill as it was quite a bit lower than he told me it could be. He said he gave me some discount.
Jane love to see the pics of Gareth and the other one from the other day of the Ben Nevis walk please?
My right hip and my left knee have been playing up last night and all today so I hav'nt done much today. I still have to paint the other trellis and yes I did find the brush after I found where I had put the paint!! It was on top of the tin next to my wellies on the mat. I could have sworn I put it in the lounge.

Some sun here but clouds also and they are moving across the sky quite quickly again so there must be some breeze up there.
Anne let us know how you get on this afternoon with our Ruby. I hope she is on the mend now.
Frank did you have a better night last night and how did you get on at the docs yesterday? Hope the tum has settled down now.

Good Morningto you all,
Yes, thank you, Ros rang at 6.00 am and they confirmed the bed was there for her. Carolyn took her in at 7.00. I have told her to ring me when she knows whats going on.
Doctor is sending me for an X ray., on my shoulder. It's now a matter of who I can get to take me. ?? I also need to get my broken plate to a dental technician in Northampton. I will see how Tony is fixed for Monday . No improvement TUMMY wise. I had nothing to eat all day and only sipped water. This morning I had half a COT and I was rushing to the loo. I made myself a bowl of porridge, thinking that might help bined me. Who was I kidding. !!!!
Ros did an overnight whites wash, which I had on the line before 8.00 am. That's hardly moving, just sitting on the line in the sunshine.
Thanks for your very kind words regarding George. I felt quite touched, and he's not even a relative. xxx Brian, Martine and a group from th Rugby club are off on a tour of the war graves and sites today. So that will take their mind off of George. It's beed booked for ages, and would be a pity to cancel.
That CAKE TOPPER sounds quite a laugh Jane, I'm sure it will cause a few giggles at the reception. Good that Garath finished his 100 K and for a great cause too.
I didn't know RUBY was unwell Ann,I trust she is taking her medication and is on the road to recovery.
Mandy, Chocolate cake sounds great. BUT watch those inches lol lol. Glad the pool is getting plenty of use. I assume you have had decent weather here, while I was away. ??
Your all set to go then Mel, I though £300 was there about right, for a cam belt. Lot of stopping down and labour costs.
I've got a basket of colours that needs ironing, but the way I am feeling, it will have to wait until later.
I had better go and make the bed and tidy round, then have my shower and shave. All go in this house. lol lol

Frank sorry to hear you are still not well and hope you manage to get the lifts you need. I also hope Ros is settled well in the hospital and they are making her comfortable and all goes well with her operation..
I had a complete surprise last night as I closed the door from the conservatory into the garden I noticed quite a lot of movement in the lower pond thinking maybe a cat had fallen in I went to look and there was a mother duck with 6 ducklings coming out of the pond and having a wander round the garden, the little ones weren't that young as they were the same colour and markings as their mother. The garden is fully enclosed with high fences all round and puppy proofed so no gaps she must have flown over with her babies. They were all gone in the morning otherwise I was going to contact the RSPB. I wondered if they had come up from South HIll Park's back lake as there are always ducks and swans on there and is only about 10 minutes from here.
Mel sorry to hear you have been in pain from your hip and knee are you taking pain killers to maybe help the discomfort?.

Afternoon Everyone
I am glad to hear Ros has her bed at the hospital .Will it be today that she has the op or tomorrow ? I hope it all goes well and that this will be an end to all her trouble that she has had to put up with for so long now. It sounds like a right old tummy bug you have Frank. Is it actually making you feel ill ,or just the trots when you have something to eat or drink? If it is a bug you shouldn't risk visiting Ros.
Mel ,your hip and knee might be a flare up of Arthritis.Hopefully it will soon settle down . I hate days like that when it is difficult to just hobble around.
Bedding done here to Mandy. I have all Hannah's bedding in drying now ready for them tomorrow .The sun seems to have vanished here and it has come over all cloudy :-S I think I will get James's bedding in too as he has gone .He and Jess left at midday for Durham. So I wont see them now until a week on Sunday.
I will send a pic of the Cow Toppers :-D. They look big in the pic but they must be quite small really. I just think they are great , funny and so different .
Anne how lovely to see the Mum and her ducklings in your pond !!!!. It is amazing how they got there !!!!. Maybe a pitstop on route to somwhere LOL Hope Ruby gets the all clear today :-D

Afternoon all,
Ros was the first down this morning for her operation and woke in the recovery ward at 11.00 am. Transferred to the ward at 12.15. She rang again this afternoon to say she had eaten a sandwich and had a COT. She has been to the toilet, sh said there is blood everywhere :-0 :-0 :-0. But that had been expected. They haven't bought her Electric toothbrush, flannels and towles and her magazines. Which she is not happy about. They did find her walking stick, and bought that to her.
All I have had today is boiled water, so I am not dashing off to the loo. I will have a piece of toast tonight with a glass of water. (WHAT A LOVELY MEAL)
Ann that must have been a lovely sight, Mum and ducklings. Carolyn when they had the pond had a family of ducks for many years visiting every year.
I got the washing in, all folded ready for ironing. Hopefully I will feel a bit better tomorrow and will iron it then.
Neck and shoulder a little easier today, no doubt sitting around doing nothing has helped.
Nice offer Liz, As I said Conrad and Jan paid for our flights for our RUBY Anniversary. He wants us to go out again in Sept. and says he will pay for tickets. But we won't let him do that, and I'm not sure we would wan't to go again. (to much hassle, from leaving home to getting to Conrad's, takes about 5 hours.)
All the water I have sipped though the day has just gone down the loo, so I am back where I started. :-0 :-0. I can do without this. !!!
Have just closed the patio door, it's starting to cool down. A week yesterday will be the longest day of the year. Where has that time gone. ???
Since starting this Ros has rung to say the Surgeon has been round, and is very pleased how the operation went, and that she can come home this evening between 7/8 pm. Pam next door will collect her, as Carolyn's Range Rover is too high for her to step up into. I am just going to remake the bed, as I only pulled the cloths over this morning, thinking I would be on my own ;-) ;-) ;-)

Frank, that is really good that it all went well and Ros can come home this evening. There was bound to be some blood after that op and maybe more for a while until things heal. She will probably just want to drop into bed when she gets home later.I hope she has got her electric toothbrush and towels now. Ooh poor old you still having everything going straight through you :-( Sometimes they say to starve yourself for 24 hours(well thats what they said back in my day .)Just sips of water.
James and Jess arrived safely and have been upgraded to a 2 bed apartment .It looks lovely and a nice view too .So I think they are quite chuffed :-D James sent me a video of the apartment .

Good news Frank that you will have Ros home safe and sound. That's not good for you having so many trips to the loo. So it will be Nurse Frank for a while now.
Ruby had the all clear from the vet thank goodness, When we went to book her in I was told Oh we all know Ruby, I don't think they have many Bostons as patients .She now weighs 6.5 kilos
Those cows look very cute Jane and will be so nice to have on the cheese tower James & Jess were lucky to have been upgraded. We went to Durham many years ago and it is a lovely City very compact and in a nice area.

Oh Jane i love the cow toppers :-D i love the pearls on the lady cow :-D :-D
Children have had another swim tonight ,Katie was in tonight and you should have seen her diving under the water bless her .

I am so pleased you have Ros back home with you Frank. That was a short stay in hospital for such an op I would have thought they would have wanted to keep their eye on her for a few hours and maybe over night. Fancy them osing her toothbrush and things!!
Hav'nt you got any Immodium? I thought Ros got some last time you had this funny tummy. Boiled water is the best thing if your tums like that.
Fancy Katie diving under the water. A proper little Mermaid. Talking of Mermaids have any of you seen on the telly the mermaid swimming classes they do now? There were adults and children doing it.
Good Ruby is now better and the meds you did get down her must have helped. A duck family can fowl a pond a lot. Have you got a filter Anne?
I love the cow bride and groom for the cheese tower. A bl**dy good idea I say.
Thanks for the pics Jane. Some nice ones to keep there. I meant to ask you if Hannah had tried the garter on when she tried your dress on? I just need to know if it fitted ok please.
My knee is better since it did a big click today but I still have to be careful not to twist it again. Hips better too but I think I know have sciatica (sp) as I have a pain down the side of my right leg.

Good morning my sweet things lol lol,
Dear Ros is still sleeping like a baby. Rest will do her good. I was up and at it as they say. I had a COT and went straight down the garden to water the greenhouse, that went on to watering all the borders and patio. I changed hoses and did the pots up the drive,,then watered th front garden. Was on the last bit, when I tripped on the hose and went A@@@ over head. Landed on my back in the flower bed. John over the road was out in the front chatting with someone, at first they just stood there chatting. Then he must have realised I couldn't get up and came over to give me a hand. I was well shaken. lol lol My joggers were covered in wet earth, so I took those off in the conservatory. I made myself another COT and have been sitting down.
I am expecting Conrad to ring, so have the phone by my side, so if it rings, I hope to catch it before it wakes my darling wife. <3 <3
It was neat to 9.00 pm when they got back from the hospital. They had to wait for her medication, and be signed out. I sat here having kittens wondering where they were.
She fancied a BACON Sarnie all all things, so I pay on her recorded soaps and went and got it for her. By 10,30 I was ready for bed and went in. I only left one light on in the lounge so she didn't have yo reach over th sofa and chairs to turn the lights out. I was still awake at 12.15 am when she decided to come to bed.
I am beginning to make a list of groceries ready for "My on line shop" when I need too.
Still no sign of sleeping beauty, so I will pop my head round the bedroom door to see if all is well. OLD WORRY GUTS lol lol
I am expecting Val and Carolyn round this morning, so I had better get some trousers ON lol lol Se you all later, I will try to catch up on the posts too. !!!
