Good morning, my beautiful people.

Pleased that the appointments for Ian are not at some unearthly hour. Some of my eye appointments want me there on a SUNDAY at 9.30. I am straight on the phone to get them changed. I know they are busy, and need to fill their appointment book, but there is no way we could be there for that time.

So you are digging holes Gill. You will have mussels where you didn't know you had them lol lol I bet the garden will look the bee's knees when it's all sorted.

Roa said those strawberry's were delicious, and the smell was so fresh. I will find out where Pam picked them, and see if Val can take me to pick some.

Whiles was out las night, the door bell rang. It was Chris. the Chair Person on the mothers club. Another large bunch of flowers, which I see are now on display in YET another VASE.

I have never heard of or seen the Meloncues. We haven't bothered growing them this yer as we only give them away. We have put in a couple of courgette plants, so hope they grow alright.

MEL, Ros would be very grateful for any POM POM'S you can spare. They would be ideal for her muffs. She has another thirty or forty already for delivery to somewhere that can use them. Carolyn has a lot made, but hasn't sewn them up or added any bits to them. I expect Ros will supply the bits and bobs as she doesn't like to spend money !!! Ros always gives her the wool. So it's just her time that she gives making them.

I see Jane and Chris are having a nice time away. I hope they come back completely relaxed and refreshed.

I will walk up the Drs. later as the Scripts are ready. and we need some tablets for the weekend.

Another lovely morning here, I had a very BAD NIGHT last night. I went to bed at 10.30 and was still awake at 2.00 am (Ros bought home from the evening out, a nice piece of BREAD PUDDING,) which I ate last night. INDIGESTION was terrible. I got up and took some GUNGE and sat in the chair till 4.30 am. Slept till 7.00 am. So I expect I will be tired out later.

Onward and upward as they say. Catch you all later. xxxx

You naughty boy eating that bread pudding last night. You shoudl have saved it till today and eaten it during the day. A nice thought though even if it did give you discomfort.

Right I shall have a look and see how many pom poms I have and get a little parcel together for Ros.

I have found some that I did'nt make and the lavender bags so will make a few more pom poms and then send a parcel.

Thanks so much Mel, she will be as pleased as PUNCH. That's another saying the I don't know where ir came from.

Madam won't do as she is told :-| :-| :-| She has painted the plank fence between Pam and us. She has sat on her stool/seat, so hasn't had to stand and reach, but still quite a big job. I have the job of painting the back gate both sides tomorrow. The colour is a SILVER GREY and looks very nice and certainly brightens the fence between us.
Tracy said to Ros, when you have finished come round and do ours. !!! cheeky little monkey!!!. Yesterday she saw Ros in the garden with her hair in rollers. She called over the back and said "HI ENNA" referring to Enna Sharples in Corrie. Since she started a little job in a Charity shop, she has come out of her shell. Her Mum says she loves the banter between her and Ros.

Chicken casserole in the oven for dinner, I think it's a bit warm for that, so will eat later.

Once the sun goes down a bit, I will get everywhere watered. It's beed very warm here today, and that wind has dropped off as well.

If Jane has this weather, she will have to be careful not to get burnt walking about in the sun.

I bet Ascot and the Tennis has been well supported. You couldn't ask for better weather than this. Have anyone got a holiday coming up soon ??

Madam is calling, so I had better go and see what she was.

Oh has been strimming under the apple tree up on the top field and the plum tree. Its really hot so I took him some cold ginger beer. I came back down with the strimmer on wheels and the bottle and mug and walked past the Walnut tree and spied a Walnut. On inspection there were more. In all the years it has been in there it has never had a Walnut on it. It must have been up there 18 years at least. I wonder if we will get to sample one this year or whether the squirrels will get there before us?

Coming down and through the arch the big girls were kicking up a stink so I parked the strimmer by the garage and walked round there with some corn for them and saw a pheasent and thought thats what they were making a noise about but looking further she had at least 5 maybe more chicks with her. We have been waiting to see our first lot of pheasent chicks. :-D :-D :-D

Good morning to you all and EOS,

Its another beautiful day here in Devon. Our Jane's back tonight I think just ready for Midsummers Day tomorrow. I bet she is going to have a good time in that nice farm shop before they travel home. I know they loved the food from there.

I have woken this morning with the most terrible pain in my right wrist which goes up my thumb. Its a bit dodgey to lift thing with it specially the kettle. I hope it eases up during the day so I can get some things done.

Frank

Frank Report 23 Jun 2018 10:41

Good morning to you all, and EOS.

Fine morning once again. I think it will get warmer like yesterday.

I have just dug out my painting shorts. I got paint on them years ago when painting the back fence. So they are kept for painting now. Saves spoiling a good pair.

How nice to see the family of pheasants Mel, and to have a walnut after all these years. I try to get Ros "WET WALNUTS" It's the only way she will eat them. She peels the skin from the nut then eats them.

Have spoken to my Sister this morning. I have been getting on to her about getting "CARERS" she has finally done something about it, and they are coming Monday to see what she needs. Paul her son will be there also. So he will make sure they know all her needs. No reply at my SIL so will catch her later.

Martine has just taken Ros to Morrison's, for our odds and sods. I have TOLD HER in no uncertain words. TO BE CAREFUL, and rest if she needs too.

Nice that you pop in now and again Elizabeth. Keeping an eye on us are you ?? lol lol

Is LADY JANE back today ?? She certainly has had a nice time weather wise. I hope they feel rested after their break.

Did you get your fence delivery Gill. ?? I expect it is a bit much to get old GRUMPY to help with the labouring putting up the fence, but at least you have some money towards it.

Was up again at 1.00 am for a couple of hours, but managed a few hours sleep once I got off.

Well I had better sort out my BIG BRUSH and get this gate painted. I have my orders NOT to get paint on the concrete. I have an old plastic shower curtain that I can put under the gate. Anything for a quiet life. ;-) ;-) ;-)

I haven't been to the pub for almost 4 weeks, they will be wondering where I have got to. I think after the painting and getting showered and shaved, I won't feel like the walk down there, but I might go tomorrow lunch time to watch England play. I think it is 1.00 pm Kick off.

Have a nice day, whoever you have planed. Speak again soon.

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 23 Jun 2018 11:49

Gosh Frank I love wet Walnuts and I too peel the skin off. OOOOOOOOO i can just feel them on my teeth now all crisp and milky.

Just going up the shop for my paper and to deliver Em's eggs. She owes me for last weeks so a nice £1050 this week for the chicken pot money.

Frank

Frank Report 23 Jun 2018 12:21

HOW MUCH MEL. £1050. What are they GOLDEN EGGS.?? lol lol

Well the painting is all done, just had enough to do both side, not a drop over.

Showered and shaved, and feeling peckish. I assume Ros will bring Rolls and fillings with Morrison's salad for lunch. So I had better not go and have a nibble at something.

Not much SUN around, but nice to be in the fresh air. I just can't be bothered to get into trousers and shirt to go to the pub. So will stay in my shorts and watch the football at home.

Simon rang to tell me that Sally had to be taken to hospital last night. They don't think it is a HEART ATTACK, but might be Angina, they are keeping her in over the weekend under observation. So I naturally hope she is alright.

We ordered them some "Passion Flowers" for their wedding anniversary. They turned up this morning, earlier than expected. But as least Simon can get them in the garden out of harms way.

I have Green Thumb coming to treat the lawns next Wednesday. I can't cut the lawns three days either side of the treatment. As I don't feel like getting the mower out, the lawns will have to wait until next weekend, before they get cut. I am learning not to do things, if I don't feel up to it. There's always another day. ;-) ;-) ;-)

Jane Report 23 Jun 2018 16:59

HELLO :-D :-D I'm home
After a lovely break away we get home to find my big upright freezer had gone off and everything has had to be chucked out :-S :-S :-S It was full too. So we will switch it back on again tonight and see what happens. Chris will have to take all the food to the tip tomorrow as there is too much for the bin.Luckily I managed to get the meats I bought at the farm shop in my small freezer.

Derbyshire is such a beautiful part of the country .Some of the scenery is breathtaking. We have done a lot of driving and saw as much as we could .I would happily go back again .it is only a couple of hours away . We got caught up in a traffic jam on the M1 coming home as there had been a car fire , and then a car broke down in the fast lane!!!!. It could have been worse though as we were only held up for about 40minutes.

I have just spoken to Janice to tell her about our holiday. She has had a bad week. Her dog Riley had to be put to sleep yesterday and Larry's Daughter (from first marriage ) has been diagnosed with Bowel Cancer. She is only 39 !!. She will have her op on the 17th July and has been told she probably won't have to have Chemo or Radiotherapy, which is good. But until they actually do the op nothing is definate .

I haven't read posts yet but have seen yours Frank about Sally. I hope she will be ok and that it is just Angina and nothing worse.

Chris is watering the garden which is desperate for water and I am going to get the washing out on the line and then clean out the bottom of the freezer before we turn it back on again.
Takeaway for us tonight :-D

Anne Report 23 Jun 2018 17:46

Good that you enjoyed your holiday Jane, I thought you would like the Peak District for about 10 years it was like a 2nd home to us.The downside it used to take about 3.5 hours to get there Loved the view at Monsal Head we often used to have a meal in the pub there. Not nice though coming home to the freezer out of order and all the food in it ruined, are you covered by insurance? So sad to hear about Janice's dog and Larry's daughter having bowel cancer Lets hope they have caught it in time

Sorry to hear about Sally having a suspected heart attack Frank finger's crossed it's a touch of Angina still not nice though and worrying for her and Simon. It's good that you aren't pushing your self too much, I learn't that lesson for myself a while back, I hope Ros is being a good girl and obeying Dr's orders she seems to be doing rather a lot.

Richard has been helping me in the garden again weeding and putting some more plants in. We had a late lunch so wont want too much later. probably a toasted sandwich

So Mr Grumpy has decided to do the right thing and pay for his half of the fence he has still got a good deal with you and your OH doing all the hard work, Gill. I think he owes you both a drink at the very least

Nice to hear from Elizabeth again may be she will join in with our chats one day soon

Still very warm and sunny again I can't remember the last time we had rain. We will be on holiday in a couple of weeks so hope it's not saving it up for then.

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 23 Jun 2018 19:29

Sorry that should have been £10.50p. You know what I meant......

I hope Sally Has'nt had a heart attack and its something they can sort out for her. It must be very worrying for her and Simon too.

Jane your sister is having a bad year too. Poor Larry must be very worried about his daughter. Hope everything goes well for her. O dear Riley, how old was he Jane?

Have just watered the garden pots. I had another little dig out of the ground ivy and I made 29 sausage rolls this afternoon so oh told me I had now spoilt his Christmas. I replied then I shan't make anymore till then!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :-| :-| :-|

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 23 Jun 2018 19:34

Gosh its been hot today. Oh has been trimming up the big yellow conifer on the west lawn which is not far in from the arch. The only thing is I am hoping its going to grow a bit of yellow as its what I use for my wreaths. The other yellow one I had that I used to use years ago he also dug up but that was in what I call the back garden.

All painted up now then Frank. Its a good job out of the way.

Sounds like you had a good break Jane apart from coming home to a thawed out freezer. What a pest. Did Chris check the fuse in the plug?? It must have smelt awful all that deforsted food and such a waste if you say it was full up. I will see if I can get up the post van this week and send that thing for you.

Better start dinner now.

Evening all,

It's been a lovely day ,the children have just had a dip in the pool again and i've just sat down after having a clear up .

Nice to see you home Jane and it sounds as i you both enjoyed Derbyshire .
I hope you can get the freezer going again ,they always seem to go off when they are full of food ,never when they are running low on things .
It doesn't seem that long since you had that freezer Jane ?

I see in our paper that the mother of Desmond MaCarthy ( normal for Norfolk programme ) has died she was 102 ,a grand old age .

So sorry to hear about your BIL's daughter Jane and hope all will go well her. Oh no! what a home coming! OH actually turned our big freezer off by mistake once!!! We now tape up the switch to stop it happening again!! Glad you enjoyed Derbyshire, it is lovely!
I remember Desmonds mother Mandy. OH, DIL and I loved that programme! I'm sorry she's dead, but what a good age!
Hope your DIL 's heart problem is sorted out too Frank and not too serious.
Been a lovely day here, and looks good for tomorrow! We're watching an old Maigret. We love that series.

Hi all

Just a quickie to let you all know OH and I are busy with the new fence, we couldn't use the panels in the end as they weren't the right size and the next size up would of been to big, so we're having to make the fencing ourselves which is why I haven't been on here. I'm not sure how long it's going to take to finish but I'll try and get on here if I can.

We haven't eaten all day so we're going to get something now then have an early night, We're shattered.

I haven't read any posts yet, so hope everyone is okay.

We were out on the patio tonight at 9.30pm after dinner and oh said "is that a fox up by the caravan?" it was'nt it was a HARE and we have never seen a hare in the garden before. We were delighted. It ran right across the top of the garden and out of the archway.

Early birds again! It's such a lovely morning we got up early and OH is getting breakfast ready to have outside!
Nothing planned for today except watering and tying up the tomatoes!
A friend of our DIL met Desmond and his mother a couple of years ago when she (friend) stayed at the hotel he runs! She said that they were exactly like they are on TV!!!
We've got about 8-9 hot air balloons high in the sky this morning! We think there is a club at Bristol and that's where they're from. It's certainly a good morning for it!!
I'm going to wash our bedroom curtains this morning, then that's the whole lot done and dusted, hooray!!
Mel, we get a lot of hares here, in fact the Bassett Hounds come once a year, (thank goodness its not more often)they are sweet dogs and never catch anything, but even so :-| :-| :-|!
Yesterday we saw two Woodpeckers on our peanuts!! We think they've got a nest in the big tree by our woodshed!
Better go here comes Cas!! Hope every one has a nice day!
