Would you Adam and Eve it. It's pouring :-S Just had a mad dash to bring everything back indoors. Made it just in time too.

Gillx Report 24 Aug 2018 12:51

Hope all went well at the funeral today Jane. Oh no you were lucky, at least you got everything in just in time. I'm having the same problem, every time I go out to do a bit more wiring the heavens open and don't get me started on the wind, it's like winter out there and very cold. I can't leave the wiring otherwise the Ivy might get damaged, so I've got a waterproof jacket on and trying my best to get it wired in, it doesn't help when my back is sore to, the pain killers I took haven't touch it.......not a happy bunny right now :-( :-(

I missed your post earlier Frank, what a shock the phone call must of been for Ros I hope she's okay. Pleased to see you had a good nights sleep last night I bet you feel better for it today.

Right the sun is out again, so I'll go out and have another go, I'll be glad when it's done. I wouldn't mind but I've got the second one to do after this. OH has cut and painted some strips of wood to put over the back of the Ivy just to make double sure it won't blow off. I'm glad I took all the tomatoes out of the greenhouse as he had to paint them in there with all this rain.

Frank Report 24 Aug 2018 14:04

You can keep he rain over there Jane, we have sunshine, and tthe wind has dropped off.

Got the X RAY report this morning. Not good news, as I expected. Ostio Arthritis in the knee. Will ring the Drs next week to see him. I hope it's not going to be another knee replacement. :-0 :-0 :-0

Even after a good nights sleep, I feel totally tired out. While Ros is out, and everywhere is quiet, I think I might try to have forty winks.

ENJOY your lunch indoors JANE lol lol. Think of your sunshine when on holiday, you will be moaning it's TOO HOT then, never satisfied xxxx

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 24 Aug 2018 15:02

Its just poured with rain here.

We've had lunch and I have taken an Ibuprofen so will see if that has any effect on my ache. I thought I may make some more of those mice in a walnut shell this afternoon. I can sit and do that quietly.

Oh is watching the qualifyers for the race this week so I have the kitchen to myself.

Fancy getting that phone call Frank. Talk about blast from the past!! 52 years is an awful long time.

Must wash my glasses as they have all specks (pun) on them.

Gillx Report 24 Aug 2018 16:06

Sorry to hear about your X-Ray results Frank, not really what you wanted to hear is it? Let's hope something can be done, maybe like you said a knee replacement op, I know you don't want one but if it's going to help then maybe that's the best thing for you and hopefully then no more pain. Did you manage your 40 winks?

How did your lunch go Jane, we had hail before and there are still lots of really heavy showers of rain, we're still trying to sort out the Ivy, the job should of taken a couple of hours to complete including adding the wood, but somehow I don't think it's going to be finished today and as for the second one we've got no chance of even starting that one today. We're also due for even worse rain over the weekend. I think I might give up for today and do a bit of my family tree since Ancestry have all their UK records open until Monday night.

Hope the Ibuprofen worked Mel and you are starting to feel more comfortable now. How are you getting on with your mice in walnut shells ? Sandra like them when you sent us a picture of the last ones you made.

Bunnyboo Report 24 Aug 2018 16:57

It's been fine all day here, but very windy! I've even dried washing outside, but now it I heaving it down!! Thank goodness all our outside jobs are done for the day, Merlin is in his stable/yard, Cas got her walk -just!!
Had a lovely evening with M. He didn't go till after 10, so by the time we'd tidied up etc, we weren't in bed till about 11.30, which is late for us! He helped OH and did the lawn for me!! Loved the supper and ate near all of it, Cas has had the rest!!
Fish for supper, OH has gone out (it's stopped raining) and is picking runners, just for a change!!!
OH dear, sorry to hear about your knee Frank, particularly after the trouble you had with the other one. I doubt you want to have to face that again!

Jane Report 24 Aug 2018 19:00

Lunch was a success even if indoors. Fitz was on top form today !We shalln't see him now for almost 3 weeks!. That must be a record.

Frank maybe you can have something done to help your knee rather than a whole replacement .But it may be a new knee for you :-(. Just get your holiday over first before having to make any decisions as to ops etc.

Sounds like you have had some horrible weather Gill. Ancestry sounds a good bet right now :-D
Glad you had a nice evening with M last night Liz and that he was able to help you both out .Thats what sons are for (when grown up :-D) ,and it is good that he enjoys helping :-D
Has the Iboprufen helped Mel? Its best to have that and then paracetamol up to 2 hours after as one is the anti inflammatory and the paracetamol pain killer. Keep taking regularly.

It is blowing a fair bit here and as dark as your hat.We did have a heavy shower a little while ago. I was talking to Gareth's Mum on the phone earlier and she had the biggest clap of thunder and torrential rain . She was just setting off to the farm where one of the Cows is having trouble feeding her calf as she has Mastitis in 3 teats and baby needs help in latching on to number 4 teat. She was just getting her wellies and raingear ready. Gareths Dad is away at the moment . In Annecy(where we are going!!!! ) He is throwing himself of a mountain Paragliding!!! He is 62 !! Aparrantly just wanting to see he can still do it !. Gareth's Mum says she does NOT want him to be doing this again.I think I would be with her on this (not that I would have any worries about Chris doing something so dangerous ). Maybe if he was wielding a hedge trimmer on a scaffold
:-D

All our Runners and Green Beans are over now :-( We will be having the last of both this evening . Chris has given the biggest bags of tomatoes away today and has pulled up the Tomato plants in the Greenhouse. The BIG onions are now in there drying or whatever they do :-D

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 24 Aug 2018 19:02

Sorry to hear it was bad news about your x ray Frank. If you have this one done we will be able to call you The Bionic Man.

I think it has eased a bit my ache and I am walking a bit better. I have had a good go at some mice but not finished nay yet. I have the ears on the heads and most of the heads in the walnut shells but I had a job with the glue and then could'nt find the two new ones I knew I had somewhere. I found them in the end by my sewing machine of all places.

Its been raining here all afternoon and its really miserable. We have the dog show on Sunday this year, this Sunday. I shall have to look and see if I can find a raffle prize to give them.

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 24 Aug 2018 19:03

Gill I meant to say I sent Sandra a mouse, did she get it?

Gillx

Gillx Report 24 Aug 2018 22:20

Yes Mel Sandra got the one you sent her and she loved it. Pleased to see your ache has eased off and you are walking a bit better now.

It sounds like you've all had some rain today, according to the weather girl it's going to be a Duvet day on Sunday, in other's words it's going to chuck it down with rain so don't bother going out.....I thought it was quite funny and a different way of saying it's going to rain all day.

That was nice of M to help you Liz, it sounds like he really liked the supper you made if he ate nearly all of it. You were lucky you got all your outside jobs done before the rain came. I gave up on the wiring of the Ivy as it wouldn't stop raining, it's suppose to be a bit better weather tomorrow so if it is I'll have another go and see if I can finish at least one of the planters.

So you had a nice lunch with Fitz in the end then Jane, even if it was in doors. I think the heat wave is well and truly over now, the weather here has been quite wet windy and cold for the last two days. F1 is back on this weekend so it can do what it wants on Sunday as I'll be watching the race. ;-)

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 24 Aug 2018 22:56

Don't know whats going to happen about the dog show. Remember I told you they changed the day from Monday to Sunday, well Sunday is going to be very wet and Monday should be quite nice. This is all because someone who has only lived here a couple of years at the most decided he wanted his bank holiday Monday. Well up yours Adrian........The dog show has been on the Monday for years and years. I hope whatever he is doing on the Monday he gets wind, rain, thunderstorms and hail.

Another thing the F1 is on Sunday but I don't know what time it will be on yet. The dog show is the one time I can usually get oh to come up the top to see people. If it clashes with the race he won't come up there.

Moan over.

Jane I try not to take Paracetamol as they bind me up.

Frank Report 25 Aug 2018 08:28

Morning you lovely people. xx

Stayed up till 11.00 last night and slept right through until 6.30. So well pleased. Had two COT, snd going to start a new book.

Yes, the knee is a bit of a bu@@er. But if after my holiday I go on the waiting list it could be next year before it's done.

It's nice when you get hip with jobs Liz, I know on the odd occasion that Harvey comes it take pressure off Ros and I. Now we have Barry to call on is a great help. It seems everyone has got to know how good he is, they are all calling on his services. So now you need to book him by the hour on the PHONE. Last week when I saw him ar Tony's I said,"If I had known you were coming I wouldn't have done my lawn" He said he didn't have the time as he was fully booked.

What a silly thing for a 60 odd year old to do. Jane, especially as he has his FARM to run. I trust he did it without any mishap ??

Mel, It's the same in our village. One woman who came here less than TWO YEARS AGO. is on every committee she can get on, and want's to RUN IT. I know Ros and others can'r bear her. !!! As you say, lets hope he has his cumupence on Monday. lol

Nice Autumn morning here. Not sure where it will go from here, but tomorrow promises to be wet. I think it's this weekend that LEWIS goes on his RAVE. I hope he takes plenty of WET GEAR. He might well need it. :-| :-| :-|

Enjoy whatever you are doing today xxx

Gillx Report 25 Aug 2018 09:22

Morning all

Dry here but not very warm today. I've woken up feeling a bit sick so not sure what I'm doing today. I did want to finish off wiring in the Ivy but don't really feel up to it at the moment.

Is Adrian in charge of the dog show Mel and that's why it's been changed to Sunday? I'd of thought it would be the same day as it's always been for all those years, how strange it's been changed because it didn't fit in with one person's plans. He must have a lot of power over everyone if they've all done what he wanted. If the weather is really bad will it be cancelled, it would be a shame if it was?

How is Gareth's dad Jane, did he jump off the mountain okay? It's not something I'd like to do. The poor Cow, hope her calf managed to latch on to number 4 teat in the end.

So you had another good nights sleep Frank? Hope you're not feeling so tired now. Yes, you're probably right and if you need the knee op it'll most likely be next year, but each day is a day closer to getting it sorted out if that's what the doctor advices.

The sun's just come out, pity I don't feel like doing any outside jobs at the moment. OH is at his mates today and Sandra is still asleep, so I might have a lay down until this sickness feeling goes.

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 25 Aug 2018 09:28

Morning Frank and all,

We have sunshine at the moment. There are some big white fluffy clouds in the sky to and its a bit on the chilly side. I thinkits time to put the fans away for next year now. It will give me more room on the kitchen work surface and my filing cupboard next to my desk.

Glad you had a good nights sleep Frank for a change.

Only the usual planned for today, go and deliver the eggs and the shop for the paper then I must pick some more plums off the tree in the front if they hav'nt been picked already and some apples. Oh told the phone man, who was picking blackberries out of the road side to take half a dozen apples off the big apple tree thats out there to go with his berries. When oh came down again the other day he said he had picked up all the windfalls so how many he took I don't know. I really only go out there twice a week, once when I go shopping on a Tuesday and then to the shop on Saturday. O and then the library once a month.

Better go and get the steak out for tonights dinner. I made a lovely blackberry and apple crumble the other day and it has lasted two nights and there's a bit for tonight too if I have a small bit. Its been nice with a bit of ice cream.

Frank Report 25 Aug 2018 10:48

It's me again. When Ros got up around 9.00 she said she had been in and out all night with an upset tummy. I never felt a thing.

I went to make her a COT and as I went passed the radiator i was warm. !! So the heating must have come on, as it had turned colder.

Haven't been out yet, but the sun is shining and it's a clear BLUE SKY.

It's Big breakfast day today isn't it Mel. ?? I had a bacon roll but Madam didn't want to eat. I don't blame her.

I tried ringing Lewis to see if he is back in the U.K. He must have changed his phone, as his number has not been recognised. Little B. for not letting us know his new number.

I will expect Ros to stay in her dressing gown today, that way I will know she won't be doing any jobs.

My sister was admitted to hospital earlier this week, for an overnight stay. She was very de-hydrated and was put on a drip. Both of her sons are away this weekend, so I hope a neighbour is looking in on her. I am fed up to the back teeth, trying to get her to get home help, and carers. It's like water off a ducks back. Paul her son, seems tp wants to do it all himself, which I find very silly.

I must water the greenhouse before I forget.

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 25 Aug 2018 12:46

Poor Ros I do feel for her its not nice when that happens to you especially in the night. Its bad enough during the day but you need your sleep. Bless, give her my wishes please Frank.

No the BIG BREAKFAST is a Sunday thing Frank. I have just had some toast and My MATE so I can take a pill.

Gillx

Gillx Report 25 Aug 2018 13:45

So sorry to hear Ros is feeling unwell, good idea for her to rest today Frank. It'll give her a chance to catch up on her sleep.
Maybe Lewis has only just changed his number and hasn't had time to let everyone know yet. I'm sure he'll give it to you.
Hope your sister is okay Frank, she really should have a bit of help, even though Paul is doing what he can, he must have a life of his own too.

It's nice and sunny here so Sandra is helping me finish off the wiring on the Ivy. The only problem is I've got a banging headache and the gardener has just turned up next door. He uses a petrol lawn mower and it stinks and don't get me going on how loud it is, so I've come in until he's finished. Sandra is having her lunch while we wait, I don't fancy anything at the moment.

I've just rang my mum to ask what size the shed is her neighbour is selling to us and it's a lot smaller than we thought it was so it doesn't look like we'll have it now.

Sandra's just old me the freezer door won't shut as there's a lot of ice around the door, it's been like this ever since we defrosted it last time, even though I've turned it down. I better go and see to it, it looks like we might need to buy a new one if we can't sort it out properly.

Afternoon all,

Bright and breezy here today ,we had some heavy showers yesterday and i heard a few claps of thunder too.
We had Katie here yesterday so today we both feel worn out as she keeps us on our toes ,she wears Max out too he fast asleep on the sofa .

We are finally finally going to decorate the lounge in a few weeks time today we went to Aldiss at Fakenham as they had the sale on and we bought two pairs of curtains ,they are quite a light creamy background with a gold and grey leaf pattern on them , our last lot of curtains came from there and have lasted well ,also bought some new grey tiebacks so at least we have made a start .
I'm useless at picking colours for the walls but i think we have decided on pale silvery grey with maybe a darker grey on the two walls each side of the fire place but then again i might change my mind :-S

Will catch up with the posts now .

It sounds like you've had your hands full with Katie Mandy. I bet it was fun though. When do the children go back to school, I know it's September but it's been that long since mine were in school I can't remember when in September they go back?

Your curtains sound lovely and I think the grey will go nicely with them. I had a similar problem at the beginning of the year about colours and which would go together when I was decorating our living room. I was going to stick with white on three walls but went with a stone colour in the end which, with the cream and red wallpaper in the two alcoves, looks nice. It took me a while to choose but I'm pleased I went with the stone instead of white in the end.

Maybe you could buy a tester paint and put some on the walls, that way you can see how it dries and live with it for a bit to make sure you like it. You could even choose different shades of grey so you know you'll end up with the one you like the most. I've seen that done on the TV and how colours can look different at certain times of the day with the sun coming into the room and of course night time when you have your lights on.

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 25 Aug 2018 15:51

How about a nice gold either side of the fireplace to pick up the gold in the curtains Mandy? You don't want it to look too much like an office with grey paint. My off ice at the PDSA was painted light and darkish grey so I would never have those colours in my house. I go for soft yellows and soft greens as I find those quite relaxing.

Well I have taken an Ibruprofen and it dos'nt seem to have done any good and have taken one paracetamol two hours later and was just about to take another when I noticed they were, the other packet, Cocodamol. I am not sure if I should take another paraceamol or not. Jane I need your advice as I am still in pain............
