Mel Fairy Godmother Report 15 Aug 2018 14:52

Oh has now decided we will go for the petrol tomorrow which means I now have to find something for dinner tonight! :-| :-| :-| Bah.

Gillx Report 15 Aug 2018 16:24

Oh, what a shame Mel you can't have your fish and chips now. Have you decided what you're having to eat, now you have to cook?

I had a tuna sandwich in the end, I wasn't sure about the butter on the bread but I seem to be okay so that's good. I'm really tired though so might have an early night tonight. I've just finished watching the programmes with Sandra so she's gone to watch one she has recorded for herself in the other room and I'm running myself a bath.

OH has just finished in the garden, talk about good timing, it's just started to rain, so no doubt he'll have a bath too, then it's dinner and settling down for the evening.

Sandra is excited for Big Brother, the celebrity one starts tomorrow. We're not sure if the normal one will be on after it or not as there is talk of no more programmes. Obviously Sandra will be disappointed if it's never on again, but it hasn't done to bad lasting 17 years. I noticed the F1 is back on again at the end of August, so that's something to look forward to.

Going to grab a cuppa while my bath is running. It's very quiet on here today, where is everyone?

Iv'e been busy all day with one thing and another. Did some ironing and some more washing and washed my hair then fed the girls again and so it goes on. Oh has been out mowing although the grass was a bit wet as we have had a few light showers today. Its still been very warm though even though there is a slight wind.

We just had a hornet in the kitchen. I went out to put something in the dustbin and thought I heard a low hum. When I came back in it was in the fly catcher but it dos'nt seem to be working properly. It crawled out and dropped to the floor so I went and got oh. It took him about 7 mins to find the thing and I was shut out of the kitchen till he killed it and took it outside on my spatular and dropped it on the patio and trod on it.

Morning all,

It won't be a long post, as my right hand is swollen and throbbing like made. The Dr said it might be PAINFULL. He wasn't joking. lol lol. It was fine last night, but woke me in the night. I will get Ros to make a sling for it later so I can rest it. If push comes to shove I'll ring the doctor later.

Just had a call from the Daughter of the neighbour who died at Christmas. (Nothing and NO ONE has been near nor by). since she died. She wanted the number of Denis and Pam. It appears he (Denis) has been going into the back garden of her bungalow and cutting back evrything that is growing through the fence. I made out I knew nothing about it. I DON'T WANT TO GET INVOLVED ;-) ;-) ;-) I know D & P have been in touch with the local Council, but they don't want to know as it's a PRIVATE PROPERTY. I would love to be a fly on the wall next door, while the call is being made.

Need to go and get a COT and rest my hand. Will try to get back later

Morning Frank and all,

We have sunshine at the moment and blue sky with big white clouds.

Sorry to hear your hand is hurting this morning Frank. Its probably just the bruise from the injection as you know how that can sting for a while. I hope you feel better soon and it works and takes the pain away.

Did'nt wake till 10.30am. Now I am behind with all my jobs and I have library today so will be back later.

Jane

Jane Report 16 Aug 2018 14:31

Afternoon All

Is your arm and hand any easier now that you are up and moving it around .Hope fully the pain will lessen now and you will begin to feel the benefit of that injection.

Is that daughter of the neighbour who died having a hissy fit just because the next door neighbour is having to come into the garden to cut back the stuff growing over into his garden?? Did the council give any advice seeing they say they are not able to do anything? It sounds as though the place has just been left to go to rack and ruin .

That was a nice lie in this morning Mel. I had a mini one
:-D Then it was over to Rushden lakes to collect some clothes ,but now I realise I have got the wrong size so it will be back again tomorrow!! . I have a blood test at 11.30 so will have to go after that.

The sun seems be trying very hard to come out which is good as I have a load of towels waiting to hang out.I shall get that done now.

Gill I see that you were feeling pretty rotten yesterday. I hope that today you are feeling much better.

Ive to go and get some washing for the machine as I changed the bed yesterday so the bins full.

Half my post has disappeared!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Had lunch and just fiddled around since then but the suns out and its very warm so I think I shall put some washing in as I changed the bed yesterday so the bins full.

We seem to be plagued with flies today and the trap is'nt working, the electric one. It should have got that hornet last night but it just wandered around inside the trap not getting zapped at all.

Gillx Report 16 Aug 2018 16:44

Afternoon all

It's been sunny here today so I've just spent almost 5 hours painting the new planters that arrived today, OH has taken over now as my hand, shoulder and back are sore.

I'm much better today Jane, so it must of been a 24 hour bug, it did knock me for six though. I went to bed early and managed to have a good nights sleep which did me the world of good. I'm just a bit achy now after painting for so long.

Sorry to hear about your hand Frank, hope it feels a bit better now. Good idea to play daft where the neighbour is concerned, like you said you don't want to get involved. It must of been very overgrown if he had to go into the garden to cut everything back....a bit cheeky though, I don't think I'd like someone cutting my plants without mentioning it to me first.

So your fly catcher isn't working Mel, maybe it's time to buy a new one. How old is it? Is there a way of fixing it, I know how handy your OH can be and it would save you having to buy a new one?

Sandra is quite excited as her Big Brother programme starts later, she been waiting for ages to watch it and has been doing the countdown, like she does for Christmas Day and her Birthday...........bless her.

Going to get changed out of my gardening clothes then see what we can have for dinner, I haven't been shopping yet as OH was out in the car most of the day, it's to late to do it now so it'll be done tomorrow. I'm sure I can rustle something up for tonight, so we won't go hungry. ;-)

Frank

Frank Report 16 Aug 2018 16:53

Hi again, The hand is feeling much better his afternoon THANK YOU. xx I'ts now my neck that's playing me up.

This morning, when it stopped raining, I watered the greenhouse and picked a dish of tomato's, also FOUR courgette's I gave one to Pam next door and a very big one to Tony who cooks it like a marrow. which I must say, I have never eaten. I belive he stuffs it with mince and herbs. It's just something I have never fancied.

Ros changed the bed again, It's all washed, dried and ironed together with a load of colours. The towles have also been washed and dried in the tumber dryer, she never puts them on the line. She thinks they dry to hard, :-| :-| :-|

I hav made a rattatoue for tonight with new potato's and minted lamb steaks. I must admit it makes a nice change from the everyday vegetables.

Well it turned out to be a nice afternoon, with warm sunshine. Which I wasn't expecting, after this mornings rain.

The daughter of the woman who died, had a right go at Denis, about going into the garden. It appears the woman in the village who had a key, gave it to Denis, as she no longer wanted to be responsible for the bungalow after woman died. The daughter has not been over once to pick up mail. We don't even know if the GAS, ELECTRIC and WATER has been turned off. Pam is worried that if she does nothing about the bungalow, in the winter the pipes could freeze and burst, which could affect her property. Plus if there was a problem with the gas or electric, there could be a fire. I Have told Pam to ring Health and Safety at the Council, to see if they could help in anyway. I can see there is going to be trouble brewing before long. Frankie boy is staying well out of it.

If you lived closer Jane you could take my slippers back to M & S at Rushden lol

I don't know where the day has gone. It's almost 5.00 pm and I will need to put the dinner on soon. We normally eat around 6.00 pm.

Ros is having a sit in the conservatory for a rest and sorting out some seeds.

Off to ring Sally to wish her HAPPY BIRTHDAY. See you tomorrow.

Jane

Jane Report 16 Aug 2018 17:06

Maybe your zapper is all zapped out Mel :-D Touch wood we havent had too many flies this week. I haven't seen a Hornet in a long while, and have no wish to see one :-D
My washing basket is EMPTY and all washing dry plus there is no ironing !!!. Well not for a few more days.

Glad to hear you are all fine again now Gill. You did sound rotten .So I think you are right and it was just a 24hr bug.

I meant to say the other day that Larry's daughter has to have 3 months of chemo :-( starting in September. It was hoped that she wouldn't need it.She is a single Mum with a 9/10 year old son. Hopefully her Mum (Larry's Ex) will stay with her while she has her treatment.I don't think the father of the Son is on the scene to help.

I have just cancelled my blood test tomorrow as it was for 11.30 and a fasting blood test . I have booked an earlier time for next wednesday .
My Sister had her pre op assesment yesterday and her BP is sky high so she has been put on tablets to try and get it down before her knee op. If it is still very high they might have to cancel the op :-S and she doesn't want that to happen.

Some stupid woman pulled out of a side road right in front of me this morning. I slammed on the brakes and managed to stop just a couple of feet from the side of her car. I can tell you now my heart was in my mouth!!!!.It was a really close call :-0

Beef Strog tonight :-D

We are not going for the petrol tonight as oh dos'nt feel like F & C tonight so we are going to have sandwiches instead. I have some nice bacon and a lump of brie so bacon and brie it is then.

What colour have you painted the planters Gill?

Bunnyboo Report 16 Aug 2018 17:59

We've had another afternoon out and about -Sainsbury's, groan, groan!! but at least it's done!! Then down to B&Q to look at a Karcher. They were on offer so we bought one and it's now on charge.
Your poor BIL's daughter Jane. My Dental Hygienist's OH has been having a course of Chemo, and its been quite gruelling. I do hope all goes well for her. I'm not surprised that your sister's BP is high!!!! Let's hope that it can be stabilised as she doesn't want her op cancelled!!
Nothing of any interest happening here, just the usual daily do's! Tomorrow? cleaning windows!!!! :-S

Gillx

Gillx Report 16 Aug 2018 19:03

We're painting the planters green to match the new fence in the front as that is where they are going by our front door. We're hoping to put some wheels on them so they can be moved around if needed, but the way it's built the wheels we've bought are a bit to big so we're going to add a bit of wood underneath so the holes for the screws will meet wood and not fresh air. The planters are made very well and look so posh, I doubt we'd of been able to make one anywhere near as good. Mind you the two of them costs us over £320 so at that price they should be made well. It's forecast to rain tomorrow so it'll probably be the weekend before they are finished and in place, then I need to see what to plant in them. I was thinking of Ivy but I might have a look for something a bit more interesting and colourful.
So it's sandwiches not F&C then Mel. He'll have to go for petrol sooner or later so no doubt you'll have your F&C soon.

You did well finding the Karcher you wanted on offer Liz, they'll be no stopping you now. ;-)

Sorry to hear about your sister's BP Jane, hope the tablets work and she can have her op.

Pleased to hear your hand is feeling a little better Frank, sorry to hear your neck is playing you up now. Happy Birthday to Sally, hope she had a nice day.

Jane

Jane Report 16 Aug 2018 19:46

No Fish and Chips again then tonight Mel :-S Even though your Sandwich sounds tasty it not quite the same as good old F&C that you are so looking forward to.
Gill your planters sound lovely and so should at that price !!. Hopefully you will be able to get the wheels fitted to make them easier to move around. They do weigh a ton with all the soil and plants in.

A new Karcher Liz :-D Ian will be trying that one out tomorrow once it is fully charged :-D
Frank why don't you just keep your new slippers .You can always keep them until your other 4 pairs wear out LOLOL .
James is on his way home now from work so I will set the table for us all to eat at around 8.30 !!. It is a bit too chilly to eat outside tonight .We have a totally clear blue sky here now. Shame it hasn't been like that all day. There is a definite nip in the air.

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 16 Aug 2018 22:04

I should say there's a nip in the air. I went round to shut the big girls in in just my deniem shirt and sleeveless t shirt and of course my trousers before a certain person makes a rude remark and my wellies and it is definately more autumn like than August. The air is all dampy with a bit of a chill.

Sandwiches were delish and I alsways like bacon so I did'nt miss F & C at all. We will probably have them tomorrow. I think the real reason for not going today was that oh was playing a game with his friend in Finland and it carries on for hours.

It won't take long to clean the windows with the Karcher and it dos'nt need too long to be on charge Liz.

Gillx Report 17 Aug 2018 07:44

Morning all

Cloudy here today, they say we're going to have some rain later, I hope it's much later as the planters need more coats of paint. OH is painting at the moment but has to go out today so I'll be having a go later.

Sorry to hear about your near miss yesterday Jane, what a shock that must of been, you were very lucky you didn't hit her. Did she say anything or just carry on driving?

Have you used your Karcher yet Liz? Our windows need cleaning, I was going to do them the other day but it started raining so I left them. I think it's all the dust from us doing the gardens. The weather is suppose to be nice over the weekend so if we have some spare time we'll clean them. We don't have a Karcher so they'll be done by hand inside and out.

Did your OH win the game he was having with his friend Mel, what game was it? I noticed a nip in the air yesterday morning too, I don't think we're going to have the hot sun again this year. Although it did warm up a bit in the afternoon until the wind got up. One of OH's friends came to see our back garden yesterday and can't get over the fact all the plants are in pots, he said it's a good idea and might do it himself. I like it because I can change the plants around when ever I fancy without having to do any digging. I must admit it does look good and you wouldn't know they were in pots as I've arranged them from tallest to smallest and covered each pot with another plant in front of it so it looks like a normal border that's been planted up. I like gardens to look green in the winter too with lots of ever greens, the one thing I don't like is a bare garden which you seem to see a lot of in the winter months. There are so many lovely ever greens around that a garden can look good every month of the year if you plan in right. That's what I'm doing in the front garden as I had lots of bare plants in the winter and it looked tatty before, now it's going to look lush and green all year round.

I thought I'd take a look online for some ever green climbers to put in the planters, they are over 5 foot tall and 4 foot wide so I'll need something big to fill them. I have to keep in mind that it's just a big pot so anything that needs lots of root space is a no no. Then I want to find some more interesting ever greens in various colours to fill in the spaces I have left in the ground, it's looking a bit bare at the moment with only a few plants in there. I didn't want to do to many plants because of the threat of a hosepipe ban but I don't think that's going to happen now and we're having quite a bit of rain so I don't need to worry about watering them so much. The side border is finished and has new soil in, so I need something small and low growing to put in there as it's against the drive. I can't believe we're almost finished and to think it all started when our neighbour was having his drive done and there was a big digger there. All we were suppose to do was take the hedge out and put in a fence, funny how things evolve from one small project isn't it?

Bunnyboo

Bunnyboo Report 17 Aug 2018 09:46

Well, our kitchen Windows have never looked so clean with the minimum of effort!!! The Karcher is, as OH puts it, a brilliant piece of kit! I'm well chuffed! No Jane, OH doesn't want to use it, he's just glad I won't be moaning about window cleaning anymore, well, only a bit as all h/w bores me to tears!!
Nice sunny morning here so a bit of weeding and deadheading for me today. OH is hospital bound, then this afternoon he's planning on sanding down the ends of the bungalow where it gets the brunt of the weather prior to creasoting them. Whether he'll get both of ends done this weekend is hard to tell, depends on the weather!!!
Your pots sound interesting Gill, but they wouldn't be for us! We're not keen on a formal garden so part of ours is left to run wild to encourage nature, the rest is veg, greenhouse, and a couple of borders/small lawn. We cut back and tidy in the autumn, and say 'hello' in the spring. Each to his own I guess!!

Frank Report 17 Aug 2018 10:19

Good morning Gill and all,

I dread to think wha you must have spent on your garden Gill. By how you describe it it sounds a wonderful display, with cool all year round. Congratulations to you and your OH. xxx

Not a good night again last night, yesterday evening I put my "Collar" on, it's foam covered in material shaped like a horses collar. It feels very comfortable and gives my neck support. As soon as I got up this morning I put it on. I will leave it on, unless I go out today. Sleep wise, I was in bed by 11.00 pm and still wide awake at 2.30 am. I did get a few hours until ROS started snoring. I nudged her, pushed her, and tried to turn her over. By this time I was wide awake again, so got up and made tea. I have been reading my book for the past couple of hours.

Jane THAT WAS a close shave, What on earth was the woman thinking about. Did you have STRONG WORDS. ?? I know I would have done.

Liz, I find the Karcher is a great help with the windows. It seems I can go round the bungalow including the conservatory in under an hour. Ros, loves it for doing he insides and patio doors.

I haven't heard from Conrad, so I will have to ring him. I need to know about Sunday Dinner, and what Veg. I need to get in.

Sally rang to thank us for her card and present. Ros bought her one of these "SMELLY THINGS" that you put fragrance's in. She also had received the knitted cushion covers Ros had made her. Simon wants a "SLOOPY JOE" sweater to wear when he is out steering his Canal Boat in all kinds of weather.Sally needs to get his chest size and the length he wants it. He wants it in Navy Blue with RED cuffs and neck too match the colour of the boat. I have ordered he wool from Ebay. Roa will knit it as a Christmas present.

Lewis should be flying back from his holiday next week, as he has tickets to go to a "RAVE" with his mates. They will pick him up at the airport and go straight there. I bet they will have the time of their lives, and sleep the next day away, getting over it. Oh to be TWENTY AGAIN lol lol.

A nice bright morning here. I haven't any plans. Not sure about Ros, but I know shes out with Martine tomorrow, as she and Brian aren't going to the caravan, as Brian's breathing is not good a the moment.

Time for my shower, se you all later xxx
