Afternoon All

Yes Mel it will be fine to take another Paracetamol as you only had the one. I think you need to take 2 paracetamols each time at the moment as 1 probably wont do much at all for you. It will be the codeine binding you not normal paras .
I have been taking my extra stong tablet . Well 1 which is codeine and Para and am having the same trouble :-S. So no more of them today until things start moving :-D

I hope Ros if feeling a bit better this afternoon Frank. You must have been out like a light last night if you didnt hear her getting up and down from bed .
I wonder why your Sisters son is reluctant to get some help in for her. maybe she had made him promise he wont. But it is a real worry for you and especially with not being able to do anything practical yourself.

How is your headache now Gill? and your sicky feeling? I little relaxation would be just the thing. Shame the shed is too small for you. That would have been ideal too.

Mandy I am dreadful at choosing colours . Remember when we had our bedroom or lounge done(can't recall which now) I had a bout 13 different tester pots !!!!! I like the sound of the colour scheme you have got so far. So it is all peace and quite again in your house :-D Katie always sounds full of beans and she obviously wears poor max out too :-D

Gareths dad did several jumps/flights or whatever they call it.The mountain over looks Lake Annecy and his view from his parachute flying over the lake must have been amazing. He has been there many times before to do the Paragliding and has never had an accident or incident. He just loves these kind of sports. He is a good skier too.
I just know Gareths Mum worries each time he goes off to do done of these things.
The Cows are kept on a friends farm Frank so should anything happen they would take on the cows. The Cows are just a kind of hobby really .Gareths dad work for British Aerospace in Cheltenham .He has gone down to 3 days a week now as he is winding down before retiring fully.

ALL DAY we have heard saws and drills from next door. They seem to be redoing their decking. The noise has given Chris a headache :-S

I went on a medicine course when I was at work and we were taught that two Nurofen followed by two Paracetamol about half an hour later is the the dose to take for back pain and sciatica. You have to take it regularly, every four hours to be effective. However Nurofen can be tricky if you have high blood pressure!! So I'm a bit wary of it and take it sparingly! It's all on the NHS website, so easy to get advise.
What a busy old day we've had!! Last night the phone rang and it was our lovely neighbours from the farm at the back of us inviting us to a lunch time drinks and eats party to celebrate the birthday of their 84 year old father/f.I.l! So out we went this morning to get a small gift/card, some fuel, some biscuits for Cas and a bit of food shopping. We ended up buying two new pairs of Jeans each, some Sox for OH and two very pretty tops for me!! So a good mornings shop!! Quick change and a run for Cas, and we were off again! We had such a lovely time, met some new people, chatted to old ones and got home about 3pm! - Did us the world of good!! Spent the rest of the afternoon snoozing in the sun and are now having our COT on the veranda!
Tomorrow we have some friends calling by in the morning, and Monday L and family are coming to lunch! It's all go here, - for the minute!!!
Hope you feel better Gill!! Perhaps you're overdoing it?!!

Thanks Jane I just wanted to make sure. I have those Co - Codamol so I know what you are saying. Open yourself a tin of prunes they should get you going, or plums.

Shame your not nearer as I have picked the last of the Victoria's from out the front this morning incase they got knicked at the dog show and a load of apples off the cooker tree up there. When I got to Em's she told me she had just spoken to oh as they have cancelled the dog show tomorrow. Bit short notice and they hav'nt put anything up on the board outside the village hall saying so. I bet we get lots of people down here asking about it. Em and hubby had bought 100 burgers and 100 sausages for the B B Q and have no room in their freezer for them and I have no room in mine but the village hall have a freezer so I said put them in there. Em said she would see how many they could offload to the commity first. Said I would have 8 of each if it helped but I can't accomadate anymore than that.

Oh has been working on the field to get it in good order for them for weeks now and spent a lot on petrol for the mower. It is really looking lovely and green now. Not to mention the lawn food he has sprayed on as a lot of it was going brown in that hot weather and he has greened it up beautifully.-0

Yes I thought we both knew the story about painkillers Jane! Cocodamol is lethal for constipation!! I had it in hospital and it was very unpleasant!!
Sadly OH isn't able drink alcohol in any shape or form till his treatment is over! L gave. him a bottle of very expensive whisky for his birthday back in July, and very sadly, I'm having to drink it!! Well, someone has to!! He's going to try and keep off it permanently, well that's the plan! It would be better for both of us really and help keep our weight down!! We shall see.
Only a scratch supper for us tonight, then a film we recorded during the week! Have a nice evening everyone!

Good Evening Everyone

Mel I hope your aches and pains are better today, That's a shame about the dog show being on another day than planned but I hope it all goes smoothly for everyone involved.

It does sound as if you had a really good day Liz it must have lifted your spirits, nothing like a good get together and having a good chat..

When I had shingles the Dr advised me to take 2 each of both paracetamol and ibuprofen together every four hours, I now try and avoid codeine as I am easily constipated anyway.

I hope Ros is feeling better Frank and taking it easy. Not nice for you to maybe having a knee replacement but it must be the right thing to have done if you are getting a lot of pain,

Fitz will miss you when you are away Jane as will Thomas. Gareth's Dad sounds a real adrenalin junkie I feel sorry for his wife as she must worry about him and he is no spring chicken .

Hope your headache has eased off Gill I think you should rest up a little maybe that's what you need to do more often. It looks like you will have to keep an eye on your freezer so that no food is wasted.

You will be busy decorating soon then Mandy and good that you got a good bargain with the new curtains. You and Max will be missing the girls when they go back to school.

Last week the door on my top cooker suddenly seized up and I couldn't shut it Paul was there at the time and took the door off , I have insurance on my white goods with British gas so the engineer came out and he put in an order for the replacements as luck would have it he used to work for AEG, he came back yesterday and everything is back to normal now, with nothing to pay as it was covered.

It's been a lovely day today although quite chilly, tomorrow it is going to rain all day according to the forecast. Last night I had to put my bed socks on as my feet were cold and I didn't want to get cramp .

I was naughty and had a couple of glasses of wine with our steak and stangely enough my pain has gone at the mo. I think I am going to get undressed and watch a bit of telly and go to bed early tonight.

Anne I am pleased I am not the only one who gets bound up. You should'nt as you don't eat much meat. We eat quite a bit.

I hope Gill is feeling better tonight and she has the race to look forward to tomorrow. We shall be watching it too.

Gillx

Gillx Report 25 Aug 2018 23:27

My headache's gone now and I've finally finished wiring up the first planter. We're just about to watch the F1 qualifying as I've just noticed we only have 7% left on the planner and I've got some things recording in the early hours of the morning. Luckily I recorded the qualifying so we'll forward all the chit chat and just watch the three parts we need to see, then we'll be off to bed.

Do be careful drinking when taking tablets Mel, I'm not surprised your pain has gone and I bet you'll sleep tonight too, but please be careful, you don't want to make yourself ill.

It sounds like you've had a great day out Liz, it's nice to have a bit of fun sometimes and a catch up with old friends.

You were lucky Paul was around when your top cooker door seized Anne, pleased to see you've had it fixed now and didn't have to wait to long. Yes, I think I do need to rest more. I'm having a day off tomorrow, mind you I don't really get a choice as it's going to rain all day so that has put paid to anymore work on the second planter. All that's left to do is add the artificial Ivy to the other planter, then I'll be ready to plant them up. Not sure what I'm putting in them yet, I keep changing my mind, but I do have lots of pot plants to choose from, so no worries there.

It sounds like Gareth's dad had a great time Jane, but I can see why his wife would be worried, it's quite a dangerous sport to do, but if he enjoys it, why not do it and like you said he's never had an accident or incident so he knows what he's doing.

OH's out of the bath now so I'll put the F1 on and hope we don't fall asleep before it finishes ;-) See you all tomorrow
Night NIght

Morning all

Raining here and not very warm. I've woken up with a migraine, so hope that goes soon now I've taken a pain killer.

Nothing planned for today with the weather being horrible so I'm going to have a nice bath and relax for a change. If the weather is nice tomorrow I'll make a start on wiring in the Ivy to the second planter, the first one is finished now and ready to plant up, then once both planters are finished I'll make a start on planting the 326 bulbs I bought the other day. I'm going to put some in the planters, some in the ground in the front garden and the rest are going into pots to dot around the two large borders I have in the back garden. I haven't had much colour in those borders this year with being busy with the front garden so it'll be nice to see some colour everywhere next year. I normally buy a few colourful plants to fill in the gaps but didn't do it this year and it looked very boring. At least with the bulbs they'll come up every year.

Hope the dog show goes well today Mel and it doesn't rain to much.

Morning Gill and all,

Had a dreadful night. I woke for the loo and could hardly get out of bed with the pain in my right side. got back in with a lot of pain and fell asleep again only to wake a bit later because I wanted to turn over and could'nt. Oh gave me his arm and I did manage very slowly to turn over. Today I am very slow to mave around and I hav'nt taken anything yet.

Gill I did put in a previous post that the dog show was cancelled yesterday at the last minuet. Its pouring with rain here and windy too so it would'nt have been possible to hold the show in the rain.

Right going to take some pills now.

Afternoon all,

Light rain here now but at least we had a dry morning , i think we will have an afternoon in front of the television Colin likes the F1 so he's happy and i will have a tinker on here looking at recipes i'm not really looking for any thing in particular i just like to have a browse .

You sound as if your really seizing up today Mel ,with all your pain it's hard to know what to do for the best ,should you try and keep moving or rest up .
I'd take the Ibruprofen and like Jane says you need two at a time to help the pain ,i hope you soon feel some relief as your usually on the go doing some thing .
Have you had any one round asking about the dog show ?

Gill you asked when the children go back to school ,they have all next week off and go back on the Thursday of the next week ,seems strange to go back for just two days :-S
I think we will get some tester pots ,maybe not as many as Jane did though LOL
Your going to be busy planting all the bulbs are they a mixed lot or all the same ? What ever they are i'm sure they will all look good and give lots of colour in your planters and pots.

Where's Frank this morning ? hope Ros is feeling better .

I am not worried about a post count DetEcTive its just nice to have people to talk to. I live out in the middle of nowhere and can't see the road from behind the walls of the victorian walled garden.

I think I may be feeling a bit better at the mo. We've had our big breakfast and oh has gone off to watch the F1 in the other room and I have it on in the kitchen.

Anne Report 26 Aug 2018 15:46

Good afternoon all

It's been raining here most of the day so no watering to do which is good as I have been watering next door's garden while they are in Slovakia for the school holidays, they go every year to see Martina's parents but they do chat most days on Skype.

So sorry to hear you are having so much pain Mel, have you seen the doctor?

Like Gill I also woke up with a headache which is unusual for me although it has eased off now.

My youngest SIL's 3 daughters are giving her a surprise tea party today for her 70th birthday we were invited but as they all live in Hastings and it was a long way to go for about 4 hours and it would mean the M25 on a Bank Holiday but we will be seeing them all in October. They are hiring a hall and doing the catering themselves so I hope it all goes well for them. I won't have to be careful anymore when we speak on the phone not to let it slip.

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 26 Aug 2018 16:17

Thats horrid when you know something and can't say anything. It is so easy to let something slip unintentionally.

I was just looking at my draw of cottons and I was suddenly taken back to my childhood when my dad showed me how to make a Cotton Reel Tank. Did any of you make them. The old wooden reel were the best but they can be made out of the new plastic reels. I must save a couple for the boys next door and show them hos to make them. My friend Lynda and I used to make them in secondary school and play with them in break times. w3e would make a course for them to go over.

Jane Report 26 Aug 2018 16:21

Afternoon Everyone on a filthy wet day. It was ok first thing but has now been raining since about 10.30.
I expect you are relieved Anne not to have to think about watering next doors garden again. I am sure it has been well watered today to last a fair time :-D

Good idea not to travel all that way to your SIL's 70th . There is always trouble on that M25 and the last thing you would want is to get stuck on there.

How are you now Mel? Taking the right pills? :-D ;-)

i did go a bit overboard on all those tester Pots LOL It made things even more confusing too.

Anne that was good service with the oven door. Do you what caused your door not to close properly. A dodgy hinge ?
I had a message yesterday to say my Freezer could be delivered on Sept 1st. Typical as we now wont be here. So I will have to ring and arrange it for as soon as we are home again.

I am going to do a little bit of ironing now.Just a few bits .I just want to keep on top of it now and not leave a big pile. I just had a new watch strap arrive . Tiny strap in a BIG box!!. Chris has fitted it now so the worn out one has finely been binned.

Steaks for dinner tonight. Rib Eyes and a Sirloin.

Hope our Frank is ok and that Ros is not feeling bad again.

Gillx

Gillx Report 26 Aug 2018 17:53

So the dog show was cancelled Mel, I must of missed your posts telling us. I'm pleased you are feeling a bit better now, I fell asleep just after the crash on the F1 and didn't wake up until it had finished, apparently nothing changed while I was sleeping so I didn't miss anything. I've still got a bit of a headache but at least it's not a migraine anymore, so that's good.

Sorry to hear you woke with a headache to Anne, maybe it's the weather, low pressure can cause my headache's sometimes. So the M25 is a bit of a nightmare on Bank Holidays then? Good idea not to chance it, you wouldn't want to get caught up in something nasty, especially in this weather. I hope your SIL had a lovely 70th, it'll be nice to catch up with them all in October.

I agree with you Mandy it does seem strange to go back to school on a Thursday, did they break up on a Wednesday, maybe they wanted to finish the week off LOL ;-) I've bought mixed bulbs, some Snowdrops, Tulips, Brodiaea, Sparaxis and Freesias, so hopefully lots of flowers from January right through to August next year. I planted some Crocus the other week in my front garden expecting them to come up in the spring but they have started to grow now........very strange, I wonder if they'll flower or just have leaves on them. At least I can see where I planted them so I can put the new bulbs in the spaces.

How did you get on with your ironing Jane, good idea to not let it pile up to much. Lot's of packaging for one small strap then, at least you have a new one now.

I meant to ask Mel, what is a Cotton Reel Tank, I've never heard of them and how do you make one?

Jane

The dogs would not have enjoyed the show in this horrible weather would they . So good job the show was cancelled . I think there will have been many outdoor shows ,fetes etc that will have had to be cancelled today. I has just poured .

Gill I didn't know what Brodiaea or Sparaxis were and have looked them up. Very pretty flowers.I particularly like the Sparaxis so I will be getting Chris to put them on his list :-D.

I finished the ironing. But as I said there wasn't much. I am trying now not to wear anything I want to be taking.I have decided what to wear for travelling.Comfy and non creasing :-D. I hate arriving somewhere after a long journey looking like something out of a rag bag LOL
Well it has finally finished raining and Thomas has dipped his toes outside :-D He was soon sitting on the bench though but hopefully he has goen to do a bit of hunting and burn off some energy after sleeping all day.

Still no Frank? Was he having visitors today? If so maybe that is wht he hasn't shown up yet.

Bunnyboo Report 26 Aug 2018 19:21

Well,we had a minor crisis today. Our friends came about 11pm and stayed until about 1.30pm, It was very good to see them particularly on such a horrible morning weather wise! When they'd gone, we realised that we hadn't seen Cassies blue ring since OH came back from the hospital on Friday!! Well, the three of us searched absolutely everywhere and there was no sign of it, outside, inside, the field, hedge, yard, and we had just come to the conclusion that it had 'gone', when I remembered that a while ago one of her teddies had found its way under our bed, and when I lifted it up there was her ring!!! She must have put it in there Friday afternoon when I got the sheet out to remake the bed!! She's SO pleased to see it, it almost brings a tear! (but not quite!!)
Let's hope tomorrow is a better day!!!
