Right then folks.......

There is a lovely egg, cheese and tomato pie baking in the oven which will be served in about 15 minutes with bacon, mushrooms and sausages. I will also do some fried bread.

Hope you enjoy it.

Hope they sort little O's ear problem soon Linds.

Think your granddaughter is in for some good weather according to the forecast Dea - oh to be young again...

Glad you liked the pie Ginns - as you can see, it is a 'pie' but without the fuss of making pastry! - Just the thing to do at breakfast time:

You need about 8 slices of bread (remove the crusts).

4 - 5 oz cheese - Double Gloucester is good, or cheddar, or a mixture of the two as I have used.- Slice this quite thinly.

8 oz or so of tomatoes, sliced

1/4 pint of milk
1 large egg.

1 teasp made mustard (if you have it)
salt and freshly ground pepper.

I also use a bit of grated parmesan to sprinkle on the top but you don't have to use this.

...........

Butter the bread and sandwich together with the cheese and tomatoes.

Cut each sandwich into 4 triangles and arrange these in a greased shallow ovenproof dish.

Beat the egg with the milk, and mustard, salt and pepper and pour this over the sandwiches.

Leave to stand for about 30 minutes or until all the liquid has been absorbed.

Bake at 190degrees C for 25 - 30 mins or until top is crisp and golden.

When it is almost done I sprinkle a little parmesan on the top and sometimes, if it is needed, I put it under the grill for a couple of minutes.

P.S. - It is also nice for a supper with a salad.

Oh missed breakfast but just had some of that lovely pie for lunch :-)

The problem with O's ear is that they cannot see anything from the wax.

They do not syringe it out now :-S

My oldest had the same problem and when he was 9 ended up in hospital to have his "glue ear", adenoids and tonsils done. Just hope O doesn't have to wait that long. :-(

Off to clear up and work out what we are eating tonight.

Gee

Gee Report 14 May 2014 12:46

The doc gives people ear drops to break down wax

Could O try some?

I never checked to see if it had posted more than once. :-)

Today is food shopping day.

Then some housework....

Dea

Dea Report 15 May 2014 14:24

Well, I now have 167 empty coathangers and I haven't quite finished yet ! - That is not accounting for about 40 items gone from the drawers which were not on coathangers !

I have TONS to take to the Charity shop! - Many items brand new still with the labels on and the rest in 'new' conditon!

There are about 20 items which are showing quite a lot of wear so I will just bin those!

There are suits, coats, evening wear, skirts, jackets, trousers , tops and blouses - all size 8 or 10. plus a very lovely, very expensive beautifully designed leather jacket. - I am going to ask DIL if she knows of anyone who might want that.

Surprisingly, I have uncovered several things which fit ! and VERY happily one outfit which is suitable for the wedding I have been invited to at the beginning of August which I was panicking about ;-) :-D

Unortunately all I can find which fits is for my top half and I am invited to my nieces 25th wedding anniversary party next week so I am still desperately trying to find something to match for my 'lower half'.........

I still have the drawers under the bed to do but I am very nearly there!!! ;-) :-D :-D
