Hello everyone :-)

Had a busy day yesterday and spent last night doing some knitting.

I haven't done any for a while and have got lots of wool to do some for the girls so...

Today I am going to do some FT stuff (now that I have found the missing stuff)

We have the GD's on Wednesday then they are off on holiday for two weeks.

Somehow I suspect we will still have them at some point.

Good morning :-D

Very large bacon barmcakes for Dea and anyone else who enjoys such things. Eggy bread for Gins.

Off to an annual car boot sale at the Methodist church up the road shortly. At least the sun is shining. After that, I have a load of typing to do followed by a mountain of ironing.

That's me kept out of mischief for the day.

:-D :-D

Hello everyone,

The gas board are still working outside our house. they have been about for weeks and will be here for ages yet. They are renewing the pipes and also replacing everyone's meters and putting them outside.

Our meter is getting done tomorrow and they have told us to expect to have no gas for the whole day :-(

I hope it is nice tomorrow.

Working on a Bank Holiday!

Been a funny day.....JB messing with his new ipod, called me each time he got stuck

I gathered cheques he hasn't banked for months and went and put them in the automated banking device.........otherwise they would go out of date

Raining again :-(

Dea

Dea Report 26 May 2014 17:02

I am like that with cheques Ginns - I have 3 on my desk now that I must take tomorrow. Luckily these ones last for 12 months rather than the usual 3 as one of them is dated 12th June last year!! ;-) :-D

It is raining here too and has been all afternoon - it was lovely and sunny when we left Bristol this morning :-S

Morning.... :-D

Thank you Dea, I will take 'any part thereof' please, ie bacon, tomatoes and fried bread. Wonderful. :-D

I'm doing a 'Jonesey' now.....

"A cheque is valid for as long as the debt between the two parties (i.e. issuer and payee) exists. In other words, cheques do not have an expiration date.

Notwithstanding the above, it is common banking practice to reject a cheque presented for payment bearing a date more than six months earlier to protect the payer, on the basis that payment may already have been made by some other means or the cheque may have been lost or stolen. However this is at the discretion of individual banks.

However, where there is a dispute, a cheque remains legally valid in order to prove a debt for a period of six years, which is the Statute of Limitations."

OH has bought me a new laptop for my burfday which is looming. I added £30 to the cost to arrange for the shop to transfer data from my current laptop to the new one. I was assured that I could take them in any time and they would be dealt with. I checked they were open yesterday.

Off went daughter and I, each clutching a laptop only to be told that the shop (a nationwide store) was too busy, not enough staff in - no technical staff in tomorrow and that it would be towards the weekend before it could be arranged.
I was not a happy bunny.

I demanded a refund of the £30 and emailed a complaint. :-|

If they had originally said, in the selling splurge, that there may be a delay, I would have made alternative arrangements. Double :-|

Hey ho.....have a nice day.........~~~~

I am going to be brave and try to sort myself out with the lap top. Fortunately, I have friends who will help if need be :-D

Dea Report 27 May 2014 09:10

You did a very good 'Jonesey' there Cynthia ;-)

It is strange 'coz I immediately thought of him when the question arose - he was always there with a technical but simple explanation of anything we wanted to know about.

Such a lovely and knowledgeable man :-D

Hope you get your new laptop sorted Cynthia - I wouldn't know where to start :-S

Mornin all~~~~~~~~

Cyns, thanks for the explanation re the chq

If you have an external hard drive you can just copy all the data to that and then save it to your new laptop
