Well here I am :-D
How did you guess I was out spending Frank :-D. I only went to TEs** and the garden shop to get more bird food. Also got some cash out to pay the carpet fitter on Monday.I nearly forgot that as the carpet is paid for but the fitter is paid for his work .

A bit more cleaning done and more Xmas cars written. So now I am going to chill until it is time to do the steaks later.I hadn't realised that we won't actually see Hannah until the morning. She is meeting up for some do with her friends here and out for the evening. She will probably stagger in in the early hours lol.I hope she remembers that she is in James's bed tonight and not try and climb in with me and Chris in her bed :-S
I did check that she still has her key :-)

I have seen a few people with Christmas trees in the back of their cars today.I think Fitz is collecting his also.I wonder how big it is this year.As usual this year James and I will go and buy ours(it has been a tradition for years now that the 2 of us to this). It will be a 6ft one.No bigger. Then the job of getting the blooming lights on.I always get ratty doing that bit :-S

I haven't heard from Janice yet so am wondering if Michel and little William are still moving out.I think they probably have gone as everything was arranged.I will try and call her later.
It feels so much later than 5pm.More like 8 or 9.

Frank we are going to Northampton on Wednesday with Fitz to see Mr Turner at the Errol Flynn Cinema .Also having lunch at one of Fitz's favourite little Turkish Restaurants .I went there once with him and the meat is soon tasty :-D Wine is rubbish and a ridiculous price :-|
We had better leave in plenty of time then if the traffic is still bad there.

Any luck with the receipt yet?...

Oh Mel you must get exasperated with the leccy going off overtime OH is doing stuff in the garage.Especially if you are in the middle of doing something on the pooter.

Sometimes he tells me and sometimes he dos'nt.

No worries for those of you I sent addresses out as I made a mistake on the email address and it came back as could'nt send.

I am sending you Gill's address by pm as she has said I can pass that to all of you regulars that she knows.

Oh has been busy in the garage all day and I hav'nt been aloud in there until I went for the chicken corn about 4pm. He has made a double hedgehog nest box with boxes inside to nest in and a division down the middle. The inside boxes I can get out to clean them if need be. It has a pop hole at each end, round like on the feeding ark.

I was busy sorting stuff for my wreath making today and cleaning out the ark and seeing what flowers I have for the wreaths this year. Don't need to buy anymore as I have plenty and the odd ones can go in posies. I have boxes of Christmas roses too that should keep me going.

I looked at my holly bush outside the wall today on my way out to the shop and there is not a berry left on it so the birds must have eaten all of those.

Hi everyone

Been a busy day today, lots of washing and ironing at least it's all done now.

The Christmas tree is finally finished, I checked and there isn't anything else to put on it. Can't believe how long it took to finish and still can't believe I forgot the baubles, silly me :-D.

Fancy forgetting the Turkey Jane and I thought my memory was bad :-)

How are you getting on with your cleaning? My place needs a going over I guess that's tomorrow's job.

Did you ever find that receipt Frank? Talking about traffic how did you get on with that lorry driver you were talking about a while back Junction 15 wasn't it?

Well, Jane how many xmas cars have you done. I assume you mean cards :-D,

Sandra stayed up quite late watching the lights on her Christmas tree and today I found a bit of tinsel and some gold bows so I've added them for her. She's so excited for Christmas.

Off to start dinner now.

Evening all,

It's been a nice dry day here and we had a little sun this afternoon and a lovely sunset .
Well i have finally made a Christmas cake ,it's not like me to leave it so late ,but i'll still have a bit of time to give it a feed .

Mel, i carn't see any baubles :-(
I hope the leccy doesn't go off when you have some thing in the oven !! :-0

There are a few houses here with lights out the front , the lights should be switched on in the town tomorrow ,but they have even got them all up yet , the tree is up and has lights on ,but they are going to have to work over night to get the others up .

It was madness in Te*co's car park this afternoon ,traffic queued all round the car park , i don't normally go on a sat afternoon but we needed milk .

Well i said the thatched roof was done on the cottage but today hubby said the men were there working ....they were only welding the lead round the chimney !!! fancy welding so close to the new thatch !! :-0

Frank has the receipt turned up yet ?

Yes Jane, The picture does look nice, I'm really pleased with it.
We've had a busy old afternoon! The book's seem ok and are now in a proper place!!
I'm typing this on my Kindle and the difference now it's been 're-jigged is brilliant!
Ian is making a French dressing for supper so must go and lay the table as we are just about ready!

Jane Report 29 Nov 2014 18:31

Oops Gill I must have hiccoughed then as I was typing that word lol.Mind you I don't know what is going on with my laptop as when I type a word it sometimes comes up as something completely different :-S.So i do have to re read everything.
I'm not sure how many more CARDS ;-) I have done this afternoon but I'm getting there.I did go to the P O to post my overseas ones but it was so busy I decided to leave it until Monday.I need to get Chris to do the one to his Cousin in France this weekend so I can take that one too.He only writes about 6 ....I do the rest .
Love to see a pic of your tree Gill.It must be lovely to see how happy Sandra is with her her own tree ,plus the big one too.Hopefully the excitement will take her mind off missing her Sister so much.

Mel we are having exactly the same dinner tonight :-DI bet you do your own chips.
I don't.I don't feel that hungry yet so hope Chris doesn't start asking what time is dinner .It will probably be about 7.30.I'm cooking so it will be ready when I decide :-D :-D
Tough aren't I :-D

Annx Report 29 Nov 2014 20:15

Evening All,

It's been milder here and quite sunny today as well.....much better than the gloomy days we've had lately. No news in the paper about the police at the local garage yesterday so no idea what that was about.

I noticed today that they have put a few decorations up in the village, some white lit up starry ones! I can't remember seeing any other years and they do look new!!

Mandy I hope they had a fire extinguisher handy when they were welding around the chimney!! Have you knitted that little hat yet? :-) No baubles here either Mandy. They aren't just strung across the top of Mel's monitor are they?? lol.

Is that the picture done in pastels Liz with the little girl's back to you and dog on her right? If so it is lovely as you say.

I went to a local Art Exhibition and sale in the old school at Peckleton today. I went to it last year and it was so good I thought I'd go again. I wasn't disappointed, the paintings were selling like hot cakes!! It gave me some inspiration and good ideas.
:-)

That little Christmas tree was a stroke of genius Gill and will keep Sandra happy for days (and nights!).

The roofer has left a message about doing the chimney and wants to come on a day I want to go with OH to Loughborough when he has a meeting there!! Typical isn't it. I'll have to see what other dates he can do it. We have had to wait with the rain dripping through for ages as we since found out he's been in hospital. Now it looks like he will be tramping through when I want to get everywhere spick and span for Christmas. Still, he can't help being unwell and if we want the drips fixed before Christmas I shall just have to make sure we put dust sheets everywhere.

The last 2 nights in our paper show nasty road accidents where both alcohol and drugs have been involved. In one the driver was doing 90mph in a 30mph limit, hitting a tree which lifted the car off the road spinning it in the air to hit and kill a young woman pregnant with her first child. Why do they drive when they do these things?

magpie

magpie Report 29 Nov 2014 20:37

Yes Ann. That's picture. I've always loved it, so we thought that this year it would be our Xmas present to ourselves!!
Watching Tony Robinson in the West Country it's all interesting stuff!

Jane

Jane Report 29 Nov 2014 21:03

I can't see any baubles either on GR :-S...They didn't even bother with Poppies this year :-S
Ann that is a bit frustrating with your roofer man wanting to come on the day you are out.Hopefully you will be able to arrange a day to suit you both before Christmas.
These people who drive like maniacs under the influence of all sorts think they are invincible and just don't think of what dreadful consequences might happen.
That driver doing 90mph will have to live the rest of his life knowing he has killed a young women and unborn baby.It is just so sad when the things happen through stupidity and recklessness .

Steak ,chips and the rest was scrumptious :-D.Everything all cleared away now so I'm just watching the rest of the XF.Chris has disappeared lol
I will be off to bed before too long .I would like to watch Casualty on my Kindle in bed but will have to have my earphones in if Chris comes up before it finishes. He is not a fan of Casualty. In fact he never watches anything medical ,real or fake.
There is a programme though next week I think he will watch.(?channel 5 or 4).It is about a Professor in Pathology who trained at the same time as Chris.I think he has been involved in some very high profile deaths including Princess Diana ...I must ask Chris what his name is.

Would you believe it. While X FACTOR has been on I have been posting. I just KNOCKED THE MOUSE ON THE FLOOR AND LOST EVERYTHING. So I am giving up for tonight. Will try to remember everything for tomorrow.

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 29 Nov 2014 21:31

Thats interesting Jane as Chris knew him in the past. You must find out his name and let us know.

It is'nt going to be a nice Christmas for the family of that young mum and her unborn baby. I hope the person responsable gets a good long sentance and as Jane said he will have to live with that for the rest of his life.

Our steak just melted in the mouth tonight but it was fillet and I had 6 chips!!!!!! and they were the chunkey ones and no I don't make my own chips as I don't like deep fat fryers and oh would'nt let me have one anyway. He said they start more fires than other things.

We had a nice bottle of White Grenach with it too.

Annx

Annx Report 29 Nov 2014 21:59

He got 7 and a half years, which doesn't seem much to me.

Yes that sounds like it will be an interesting prog to watch Jane and even more so for Chris.

We are looking forward to the next episode of Secrets of the Castle. It was really good last week. They are reconstructing a castle in France and I like Ruth Goodman in these historical programmes. She was dressed for the part and she was living in a 1 roomed house constructed for the prog that the workers on the castle would have lived in at the time, showing us how they lived and what they ate.

I haven't had a deep fat fryer for over 30 years. I gave mine to mum when she had the home. It took so much oil and I had to change it every time as we didn't eat that much deep fried food and the oil would go off. I can imagine fires would be awful with one Mel if it went wrong and overheated.

Oh no, not again Frank!!

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 29 Nov 2014 22:19

7 years is certainly not long enough but if the people in jail with him know what he did he will probably get it from them whilst he is in there. I hope so..... :-|

Liz that pic is lovely and I know you will both enjoy it for yers to come. I love back views of children. Mum once painted a few children back view standing on a gate. I had a picture of a rellie in oz with their two boys standing by a lake and I edited it for a pic of one of the little boys back view. It was a black and white which made it all the better.

Gillx Report 29 Nov 2014 22:45

That poor woman's family Ann, it makes you wonder what goes through some people's mind and I bet he wasn't badly hurt, if at all. Having to live with it on his mind isn't punishment enough, lets hope he gets what he deserves, a very long sentence.

Yes Sandra is made up with her little tree and couldn't wait to show her dad when he came in from work, with all the little extra's added today.

Oh dear Frank, not having much luck lately, lets hope tomorrow is a better day for you.

Jane I'm not sure how to put photo's into emails, do you take a photo on your phone then somehow put it onto the laptop. If that's the case my phone is no good I've only got an old nok*a (the one with the hamster running on a wheel to keep it going lol) and my hubby's phone isn't very good either, he tried taking a photo and it came out all fuzzy, might be because we have nearly 400 lights on the tree and he phone doesn't like it.

Your dinner sounds nice Jane and Mel we had sweet and sour chicken with boiled rice

Just noticed another email off my daughter so I'll go and read it then off to bed
Night Night x

Thanks Mel. We opted to do this at Xmas some years ago as deciding what present to give each other seemed to have turned into such a hassle bordering on an issue'!!! so we came up with the idea of buying something 'special' that we both liked, and this has worked well for us. Seven years is nothing like enough for such a dreadful accident, particularly as this chap will only serve two thirds of that! As you said Jane people need to stop and think for a minute before taking actions that could end in tragedy.
I had an electric chip fryer for years, as they have a thermostat and automatically turn off at the predestined heat so they are a lot safer than ones you use on the stove, which are downright dangerous! Actually I don't think you can buy the 'stove' ones anymore, H & S and the EU have (I think) banned them. These days we hardly ever have chips so when we do we put them in the oven which is much easier than a chipper which, as you said Ann, needs 'maintenance'!
Foggy day here so we've not in a hurry to get up!!!!
