Morning/Evening All

Ruby your lunch sounded very tasty. But I would have found that soup too spicy also.I am a herb person rather than spice.I can just about cope with mild ones.

Yes it was a great sleep last night :-D.I did get a dig in the back a couple of times from Chris to stop me snoring though.
James has gone to work this morning but looks as white as a ghost.I'm just guessing it might have been one of these 24/48 hr bugs.

Well I have been helping get more parts of wardrobes up the stairs. The really heavy bits will wait until this evening for the 2 men to do .
I have a few jobs to get done now and then I will have to get changed and ready for the hairdressers.

So I will be back later this afternoon

Morning All,

Nipped to the docs this morning as arranged and the cardiologist letter hasn't added anything. She confirmed that although I get an occasional flutter it isn't AFib as that would show up on the ECG. I just wanted to make sure with strokes on dad's side of the family that I didn't need blood thinners. I took a little list of questions with me and we got through them quickly! :-) It was a good job I got my repeat prescription before I went in to see the doc as they had missed off my thyroid tablets and I'm nearly out of them. :-S

I then called in Sain*burys on the way back to get 3 small reindeer ornaments that were half price. I'm going to 'improve' them with a bit of paint and make a little sleigh to go with them. :-) Well, that's the idea anyway. :-)

I have the Michael Portillo progs recorded so haven't watched that episode yet Liz. We love his train journeys and learn so much from them. He is a very good presenter too.

I managed to finish my wire and bead necklace from last week and have sorted what I think I need ready for tomorrow. It's always hard to judge especially if you can't make your mind up like me!!

I hope James is feeling better now. It's awful when you go to work hoping you will feel better soon and then feel worse.

Afternoon all,

Been on the computer for ages this morning clearing over 40 emails, Have sent some to you all, that were clean enough. Hope you all enjoyed them.

The plumber chap has been here all morning Lagging the pipes in the loft. He had a phone call from his MIL to say her boiler had packed up, so he has gone, but will call back later to finish off.

Ros sat here this morning with a cup of tea, when the phone rang. She should have been at "STITCHERY DO" at 10.00 am it was now 10,20 and Valerie was waiting for her to pick her up. !!!Silly WOMAN had not put it on the calendar !!!

We had a shower last night as we drove to the restaurant, so later it seemed to turn warmer and there was no frost this morning.

Glad your roof has had a PROPER JOB done Mel, as you say now's the PROPER BILL lol

Snoring then Jane, :-D :-D :-D Ros does that when she lies on her back, a quick elbow soon turns her over :-0 :-0 :-0

Ann, So pleased everything seems to be in order at the doctors. When have you got to go back for your next check up. ???

Ruby, that's a very kind offer. I will be thinking of you all at Christmas Time, so there is no need to send a card. I will be sending an Ecard to everybody anyway.
You do seem to get treated very well with all the CAKES AND THINGS. Glad you enjoy it. Keep it up, we are only here once !!!

Well as I am home alone today. I had better see about dinner for tonight. I think it will be SHIN of beef in the oven for 2/3 hours with Mash and vegetables. I might even treat her to a rice pudding, that can tick along in the bottom of the oven. <3 <3

Thanks for the pic Ann, you do do some lovely work! You're very clever!
We've just come back from looking at beds!!!!! Now it's decision time and I can feel another compromise coming on!! Got some tinsel at H.Bse, + a bauble. We have just one bauble left from the ones we bought 50 years ago, when we were first married, (the others got broken and replaced )and the one today was just like the original, so now we have a pair! I think Ian's going soft in his old age! But there you go, if it pleases......!

Jane

Jane Report 4 Dec 2014 16:53

I never get an Ecard from you Frank :-P :-P.I know you send one but it never arrives lol

I remember my Mum and Dads pretty glass baubles .Sadly they have all gone nowI think my Sister had them but am sure she said they have finally bitten the dust. They would be lethal if they shattered.

Yes Ann has made another beautiful creation.I loved the colours.

Liz did you decide on looking for a King Size bed in the end? It's well worth it :-D.

I have been all titivated up for Christmas now .No roots showing and a good cut.So that is me done now until the 8th January.I had a nice glass of white wine while I was waiting for my colour to do under that machine thingy.(I can't remember what they call it).It was free parking in town today.I hadn't realised and put my £3 in the machine ,then luckily this nice chap told me it was free so I pressed the cancel button and got my money back :-D.No individual tips are given in december at the hairdressers .They have a TipBox for the Juniors which is then divided up between them.So I put a nice big tip in today. The other ones we do is for our lovely lady Postie called Thea and the Milkman Matt.
After my hair I went to a nice little shop that sells slightly different things and bought a few bits for Hannah and Jess.Bit like stocking filler things.

Well James has obviously managed to stay the whole day at work.He did say if was feeling up to it he would pop in and she Johnny's Mum on the way home.He seems to go once a week .I think she is struggling to get over Johnny's death and she hasn't worked since.I know it is still very early days and life must feel terrible. Her daughter is getting married in just a week or two. That is going to be a Happy/Sad day for all the family.

Lamb Shanks for us tonight :-D.Not for James though .He hates Lamb.

Afternoon all,

What a dull old day its been , hubby went off to work and was home again by lunch time as we have that nasty drizzle and he's still working on the roof .

Glad you enjoyed your evening out Frank, fancy Ros being late for her stitchery do , there's always so much to think about this time of the year so it's easily done.

Ruby your lunch sounded really nice ,i think that baked spud would do me a treat and the dessert :-D

Mel, it's good that they've got the roof done before the weather turns nasty , how about the Name Hoggies Retreat for the hogs home ,or Prickles Place :-D

I like the colors in the new necklace Ann and the little twists of seed beads too.
You must feel a bit happier now you been to the docs .

I made a couple of little christmas cakes today ,when i went in the pound shop they had some tiny little cake tins ,so i bought two ,they are about four inches across ,i just adjusted the timing to about an hour and fifteen minutes and they came out a treat :-D

Yes Jane, we will be getting a King size bed, my parents had one way back, and we had it after they died; It was as they say, a proper job! We replaced it when we went to Somerset with a 4ft 6", and regretted it! I want one that lifts up like an Ottoman which, bearing the size of our Bungalow and the limited storage space would be very useful! Ian seems to think that it might be to heavy for me to lift, especially as we get older!!!! and we would be better with drawers!! drawers are ok, but don't give anything like the space! We won't be doing anything about it till after Xmas, so for the minute we've agreed to leave it, go and investigate properly in the New Year and see what we can come up with. They're so expensive, so it must be right, as the last thing either of us wants is a fuss either now or (God forbid!!) later on when the deed is done!!
Must peel some spuds for supper!
Have just seen that they have found the body of that baby whose mother absconded from hospital. Oh dear, that has made me feel really upset, I did hope they might find her and that she was safe. I think that the hospital is going to be asked a few questions here!!!

Jane Report 4 Dec 2014 17:45

Mandy you are clever being able to adjust the timing for such little cakes. If I tried that I would be like King Alfred and his burnt cakes......Was it King Alfred that burnt his cakes?????

Liz the bed we just got rid of had drawers.2 each side. But I could only use 1 each side as our bedside cabinets covered up the other 2 .So that was a complete waste.I think the type you mention would be a great idea. The lift up bit must be on some kind of spring so might not be too heavy.Did you try lifting one in the shop?
There are now 2 triple wardrobes half done. One double done.It looks a bit like a builders yard in the bedroom lol

Brrrr! it is really cold outside now.I had hoped the woodturner would be going when I got home ,but Chris said he was too busy with the wardrobes to even think about that.
So the thermostat on the Central heating has been turned up :-D

Is it The Fall tonight? I think it might be.I better check as i don't want to miss tonights .
Only a few hours left now Liz and it will be Bye Bye.(for now). Will you miss us? I know we will miss you. :-(

I have had a Xmas Card today from my old Primary School teacher Ruth(my Mums best friend). It was rather sad to see her handwriting .Her sight is failing badly .But nice to see she is still determined to write the card herself.Someone else had done the address.Bless her she is now 95.She is still living at home but having carers in 4 times a day.

MillymollyAmanda

MillymollyAmanda Report 4 Dec 2014 18:03

We have a bed with the four drawers and carn't get to the top two because of the bedside cabinets ,i know the draw on my side has my wedding dress in ,it was in a box but that had got so tatty so i put the dress in a bag and into the draw .
I can only get to the draw when hubby is there to help pull the bed out ,it's not the base of the bed that's heavy it's the mattress.

When DIL came this morning she asked if we had heard a helicopter about two o'clock this morning , i think hubby did ,well it seems as if we have had a shooting ,a man was seen firing a gun into the air ,the police found the gun at an address and have been hunting for the man , he was found in the town about one o'clock this lunch time .

MillymollyAmanda

MillymollyAmanda Report 4 Dec 2014 18:11

Jane the little cakes were only in a low oven so i had to just keep an eye on them , it doesn't matter so much about opening the door of the oven to have a look as with a rich cake they don't seem to sink in the middle , i just kept sticking a knife in to see when they were done .

Our Woodburners going, hubby rang today about some more logs , i know the chap is always busy so i hope we can get a load before christmas , my sister has a load being delivered on sat and she only rang a few days ago so we might be ok.
Like everything else the price has gone up !! £115 a load now.

magpie Report 4 Dec 2014 18:25

The bed we've got now has drawers, one either side which we can get at and use, and no I didn't try the bed thatI was keen on. After the holiday we'll go back and investigate properly, then we'll see!!!! ;-)
Yes Jane I shall miss you, and thank you for missing me! I need a break though. I remember telling you when I had a break before that I needed a breathing space for a month or two! I will be back before long with fresh things to bore you with!!! :-)

My Wedding Dress has been in a box on the top of our old wardrobes ever since we moved in here back in 1991.But has been in that same box since 1981.I keep thinking how daft it is to still keep it as I'm sure it will never see the light of day again. It is now in the ensuite !!! and will no doubt go back on the top of one of the new wardrobes where it will stay for the next 20 odd years :-S.It might be moth eaten by now LOL

MillymollyAmanda

MillymollyAmanda Report 4 Dec 2014 18:38

I only have the dress in there as i know i cut up the long veil i had when one of the children wanted some netting for some thing .
The headdress i had to throw away as the little white flowers on it had gone a funny color where the wires had rusted !! :-S

Liz, i hope your not away to long i like reading your posts , we will miss you <3

magpie Report 4 Dec 2014 19:12

Thank you too Mandy! My wedding dress went twice! I wore it it in1964! Then Laura (who is a lot smaller than me, even me in those days!) had it altered to her specifications(!) and wore it In 1995! So my parents ( it wasn't cheap) got their money's worth with that dress! Sadly they were both dead by this time so didn't see that it was well used! Laura still has it packed away in her loft, ready for the next one. Mind you the girls are both going to be taller than her, so I don't think it'll go again!
Yes Jane it is The Fall tonight! I don't say much for that young girls chances!!

Annx

Annx Report 4 Dec 2014 19:32

The last 2 beds with drawers we have had are like this with narrower drawers at the top end of the bed so you can still open them with cabinets at the sides. You lose some space, but can at least use most of the space and still open the drawers!! I did think about getting one that lifts up from the bottom like Liz mentioned, but I still like a valance sheet and thought that could get trapped as you lowered it each time. With drawers I can just lift the bit that hangs over them. This is what it looks like.....

Mandy I have often thought a small home made Christmas cake would be a great little present, or extra as a lot of people don't like a big cake any more, but I have never seen small enough tins!! You did well to judge the timing as Jane says though. It would be so easy to burn the edges as I know too well. Yes, I am much happier since my visit to the doc thanks. I managed to clarify a few more things which was helpful. I don't have to go for any more checkups Frank. I only need to go back if it starts to happen again and the breathing doesn't help. I can climb hills and do what I did before it happened which is good to know. lol.

I just had a vision of you all in those wedding dresses looking like Miss Haversham in the greying net and dust!! I think I used the frills off the sleeves on mine on another dress. It got chucked out when I moved here as I didn't know why I was keeping it. The tiny waist on it certainly belonged to another era. lol.

I was going to text a friend tonight as I was writing Christmas cards for tomorrow's class and couldn't remember the name of a new lady.......another senior moment!!
:-S My mobile wasn't in my bag so panic set in!!!! :-0 :-0 I'm sure you've all been there!! I looked in my coat pockets and in the car to no avail, then on the bed, in the kitchen, on and under the dining table as I'd put my bag on there when I came home.....still no sign of it. Then as OH pulled out a dining chair to sit down I spotted it on the seat and shreiked at him to stop and get off as he was hovering over it and I could see irreparable damage looming. I think he thought I'd gone mad shouting at him but I managed to grab it before he 'landed' and crushed it. When he saw what it was he said, 'Goodness me I 've got a meeting tonight and can't afford to be in A&E having that 'extracted'. lol

Mel, the only name I thought of was Prickly Bottom!
