Jane Report 7 Mar 2015 15:19

Phew isn't shopping exhausting !!..Everywhere is so busy today. The nice sunshine has got everyone out.I have just got in and feel like I have been out for hours.Just having a drink and a sit down before I empty my shopping bags and put everything away.Got 2 more tops but I have a feeling the material might be that clingy stuff.(you know when it gets static). If thats the case they will be going back. But thought they might be worth a try. There was a sweet little dog tied up outside Tes** and poor thing was crying his head off :-(,and he had got himself tied up a bit with his lead.It had got under his tum and one leg.But when I came out I saw that his owner had just got back to him :-D

Chris has almost ceased up so is going to have a nice bath shortly.I have noticed him taking Brufen...and he hardly ever takes anything.I think his shoulder is causing a lot of pain these days. But will he actually admit it????? Not really :-S

While I was sat in bed this morning I watched a really emotional programme on the lap top about twin girls born in China. They had been abandoned at birth and one was adopted lived in USA and the other went to Norway. It was a lovely programme but so sad that the girls have only met a few times.Identical in just about every way.It would be nice to think that when they grow up and leave home that they might actually get to live in at least the same country and get to know each other .The thing was that the parents actually bumped in to each other when collecting the babies and discovered they had bought the same Gingham red dresses to dress the girls in.That was when they realised that they looked so alike .But they were told they weren't twins. So they went off to their respective countries and then did a DNA test that proved they were Identical Twins. If it hadn't been for those little red dresses they would never have known !!!!! Fate or what ????

I better get this food put away now otherwise it will still be in the bags tonight :-S

I have a feeling that it might be raining in Wales so not sure what it's like for James and his friends up a mountain (or wherever they are)

Happy Birthday Shirley, hope it's a good one.
Beautiful day here, spent the morning cleaning out the inside of the waggon, it was very dirty, again!! Our road gets SO mucky with farm vehicles up and down we really ought to clean it more often, but we don't!!!
This afternoon I've mown the lawn and done the edges. It's only the size of a postage stamp so not particularly arduous!! Poor Chris with his siezed up shoulder, my S.Father used to get bouts of that and it was very painful and all you can do is take pain killers. Let's hope it feels better soon.
We had some logs delivered yesterday, they're being stacked at the back of the garage, and should be well dried by next winter.
Time for a cuppa!

It is beautiful here and after lunch I went in the shed and sorted out my begonia tubers. All repotted and I hope they grow.

Oh has rolled the lawns and spiked them and scarified them and is now doing something else on the mower. I had a look out the window he is now mowing. He will need a drink in a min so I had better get on with something before he is finished.

I saw a tiny goldfish in my pond this morning but it was on it's side so I don't hold out much hope for it. It was just turning gold two so two tone black and gold. I have another tiny one in there that is white with a red spot on its head.

Gawd, you have all been busy and there's me the lazy bones been on FMP most of the afternoon! :-S

That's good he's feeling ready to have another pup Mandy. Please get a photo of him to show us when he has him. Spaniels seem to be such sweet dogs, all full of beans and happiness! I would like a liver and white Springer, but I think one would wear me out now!

I hope Ian soon feels better Liz. Some of the lanes around here are positively dangerous with the amount of mud on them. There are so many farm vehicles on the road now we play Spot the Farm Vehicle when we go out!! That and Spot the Bradley in lycra!!

James is 'roughing' it on a mountain tonight then Jane. At least he's picked a warmer weekend than of late for it, but even on a hot day it can be cold higher up on Snowdon. I think he'll be ready for a good meal and a kip when he gets back. I hope Fitz wasn't too disappointed at there being no trace of the sawmill. He's always most appreciative of any efforts to help though. I hope Chris's shoulder soon feels better. It's a nuisance when we want to get on with jobs and then our bodies start protesting straightaway. I have to hoover through in stages now or my back plays up.

OH was reading the other day that people are changing their shopping habits and doing more 'little' shops instead of so many 'big' shops and said we were doing the same now which is true. The Sain*burys and A*da down the road are such big stores, it's like walking down a few streets to go all round them. You can't park just outside anymore because of all the various disabled or parent and child spaces either so it's easier and less hassle to use the 2 co*ops in the village for bits and bobs and just do the occasional big shop. We often do the main shop together since OH retired, but if I do it on my own he will always fetch the bags in from the car for me and put a lot of it away. When we both worked and lived and worked over 15 miles from each other, I could give him my shopping list and he would get it for me and bring it over at the weekend.

magpie

magpie Report 7 Mar 2015 20:16

We're a bit like that Ann. Our village shop is a mini super market/ post office and you can get most things you want from there, and you can park! We've also got a lovely farm shop for veg and meat and other deli things. Also doctors surgery and hairdresser, so apart from the dentist we don't really need to go anywhere else. We tend to go to Sainsbury's about once a fortnight nearly always together as it's so much quicker! Your OH was certainly a good man doing the shopping on his own and then bringing it to you!! Ian would have been willing, but would probably forgotten the list and left half of it in the shop unless I 'd been there to chivvy him!!
Rubbish TV tonight, so we shall see if there is anything on the radio worth listening to.

I think the people who sort out the tv programs think everyone goes out on a Saturday night. There must be loads and loads of older peeps who don't and would welcome a good program on a Saturday. I always save last weeks Country File to watch on a Sat. night so I have something to look forward too.

I am looking forward to seeing what the new Poldark is like. I would'nt even mind seeing The Pallisers over again but they never seem to repeat that.

Morning all and evenign Kim,

Raining here today so that puts paid to any more work in the garden and I was just getting into the swing of things too.

Oh has just gone ringing so I am home alone for a while. I am going to have a nice shower and wash my hair and if there is any more time left I may hoover the kitchen too.

Morning/Evening All

It started off really sunny here but now it is all cloudy :-S.Still mild though.I just have short sleeves on.
Our Chest of drawers has just been collected for the Brit Heart Foundation shop.I kept forgetting it was in the garage .But it has gone now (Chris is pleased :-D).He is now emptying out the front lobby ready for decorating..We have been having a 'discussion' on what he considers to be white paint !!!!.He kept insisting that the skirting and inner door are white.THEY AREN"T !!!!.....He says they will be now as he has bought white paint :-|..I shan't say another word.

I never do a BIG shop.As the Supermarket is only a 5 minute drive I pop in and out of there several times a week.I never get a big trolley as they are just too deep for my liking.I will be off there again in a minute as I forgot to get Carrots and parsnips to go with the Roast Beef for tonight. Also those 2 tops I bought yesterday are fine .I got a black one and a Olive Green one so I am going to get the Orange one now :-D.They are only £10 :-D
BBL
Wasn't Ruby's email of the Beavers just amazing :-D :-D
Gill if you haven't got it I will forward it to you .I think Sandra will love it.

I think you're right Mel, Saturday TV is always awful, goodness knows why! except for the reasons you gave! There's always something on one of the wildlife channels though that is worth watching and we often turn over to that. Last night we found a prog about a mother Panda with her new baby which was fascinating. She was so gentle and affectionate with this tiny mite, it was wonderful to see.
Drizzly day here, so no gardening. Roast Lamb for lunch, so better get on!

The rain has just arrived :-S.The washing I put out earlier that can't be tumble dried is still wet so it'll have to up on the Horse in the bathroom.I don't like to have wet washing hanging around but it least it is out of the way in there.

My Catch Up box doesn't work..I am remembering right that someone else had a problem and Ann or somebody had advice as to how to sort it?

Hannah and her friends were on a `march/walk on the Southbank this morning for International Womens day.All wearing T Shirts with "Walk in her Shoes' on.
She sent me a photo saying "spot the celeb'.......It was Annie Lennox just behind Hannah :-D.....I think she is brilliant.

James is home and said it was pouring with rain and freezing .They slept in a stone hut .James's sleeping bag only came up to his chest LOL.Hannah has the big one in London.I think it was only Luke who did climbing. He is incredible and Mountain climbing is his love.I must see if James has a pic.

I think I might cook this joint of Beef now so that will be one thing done for tonight.I often cook the meat first and then slice and cover with Gravy just to heat up when the Roast Potatoes and Roast veg are all cooked.

It quite dark now and really gloomy.I might light the fire :-D

Well here I am. !!! Good afternoon all,

We tend to watch ITV 3 Saturday evenings. There are some good Barnaby and Lewis on sometime JACK FROST. The usual channels are rubbish.

We had a nice Chinese Takeaway last night from our favourite one in Towcester.

I walked down the pub yesterday as Ros was out till 5.30 pm. I had a good chat to three chaps, and we got into telling JOKES. I didn't realise how funny some of them were, I laughed my head off, and with the beer they seemed even funnier. I felt so good after it. I had an hour in the armchair when I got home. hic hic.

We went next door at 10.30 this morning. Spent a very pleasant 2 hours chatting about everything. We must return to invitation sometime. Perhaps a BBQ in the garden when the weather improves.

I have prepared dinner for tonight Leg of Pork with all the trimmings.

Ros is in charge of the shopping. I just add to the list as I run out of things. and by MAGIC they appear in the cupboards.

I did enjoy the Beavers, I forwarded it to Gill, as I don't think Ruby sends to her.

Haven't heard from our Shirl, Hope she had a wonderful day yesterday with the family.

What colour did you think the woodwork was Jane ??? You two are begger's for falling out over little things. :-D :-D :-D I can see your heads need banging together. as my mum would say <3 <3 <3 <3 <3

It started off nice here this morning, but while in neighbours it started spitting with rain, now we have had a couple of heavy showers. So no gardening. THANK GAWD. :-D :-D :-D My body is still aching from Friday.

Ros has just found a BIG COBWEB in the gas fire which we never use, so she is attacking it NOW !!!

Hope you all enjoy a nice quiet afternoon, doing whatever you like to do.

Frank,it sounds like it did you good to have a few laughs dow the Pub yesterday.Laughing is just the best thing to lift the spirits :-D...I'm sure those few pints helped too :-D.Socialising again this morning :-D

As to the paint colour .I'm blowed if I can remember the name .I just know it isn't WHITE :-D.He has started rubbing down and cleaning the big bookcase out there. His study floor is stacked with a couple of hundred books now.I will just stay out of the way :-DI think he will take most of next week to do it all.
It's off to Northampton again on Wednesday to the Cinema. But this time I am going with Fitz. The film is about 2 middle aged Gay men.It looks really good but I can't think of the Title of the film.
Only one of my Moorhens has been around today.I want to know where the other 3 are.I hope nothing has happened to them.Nesting maybe?

Afternoon all,

Started off here nice and sunny ,i had all the windows open and even had the back door open for a while ,then after lunch it clouded over and has just started to spit with rain .

Yesterday when we sat having breakfast hubby saw a little blue tit eyeing up the tit box on the shed ,i haven't seen it about any more since ,i suppose now the bird feeders have been taken down the all inclusive pad has now become self catering so he probably not so keen to take up residence :-D

James will be glad to sleep in his bed tonight after roughing it in the stone hut :-D

Hubby has now lit the fire ,it's got really chilly now .

The sky cleared here just after lunch and now we have sunshine. got my hair washed this morning but did'nt manage the shower before oh came in so |I did the big breakfast and am still recovering from that.

I could'nt get into my email this morning so I am going to try now.

The other night oh was fast asleep, it was the night I could'nt sleep, and he was mumbling away as he usually does when as clear as a bell he said I love you. Confronted with this a few days later after he told me I was snoring, I told him what he said the other night. His reply was "what a bu**er when you can't remember what the dream was". I had to laugh........ :-D :-D

Hope it was about you Mel LOL.I used to talk in my sleep all the time...I often wonder what secrets I let out ;-).Hannah use to sleep talk too and walk.I found her one evening in the dining room fast asleep under the dining table.
I think I have mentioned this before (in the early days of the thread) But my Dad had to put a lock on my bedroom window as he found me with my sheets tied together and me trying to climb out the window !!!!!!.It was in the days when I was into Enid Blyton and the Famous 5 and Secret 7..Mum and Dad knew when I had been sleepwalking when they got up in the morning and often found my sheets on the landing.
The only thing I remember James doing in his sleep was weeing in his desk drawer. :-S.What a bl***y mess that was...Typical boy!!!!!

Mandy I keep meaning to put up a couple of bird boxes. The last 2 we had went rotten and i have never replaced them.

Annx Report 8 Mar 2015 19:07

Afternoon All,

It's poured with rain here this afternoon so I'm wishing now that I'd washed the sheets yesterday. :-S

I pile it high and make sure my BIG shop fits in the small trolleys Jane, so I don't bruise my ribs bending in to get the stuff at the bottom. Like Mel says it is hard on your back and knees getting them around the corners of the aisles too! It was me that put a link up for Frank, but it was for how to connect the box, so not much help to you I'm afraid. Well there's something to be said for being a shortie then.....at least we fit into small sleeping bags! I still have one somewhere from my caravanning days. It's a shame the weather wasn't too special for James' weekend.

We said we'd go and get a few proper roof slates next week as I have 3 birdboxes I want to put up and the slate will be nice and waterproof for the roof bits. Feeders or no feeders, the little bird was still 'viewing' the desirable residence on your shed Mandy. :-) Any sign of the rats now? My friend with the chickens is getting pest control people in as they have noticed so many in the garden this year. :-0

One of my upper eyelids is itchy and swollen and the bottom eyelid of the other eye is the same with my cheek near it swollen too. It happened previously, just before Christmas as well and I thought the anti fungal cream I put on then seemed to do the trick but it hasn't worked this time! I look as if OH has given me a 'shiner'!! :-0 I want to be right for next weekend as I'm doing the glass fusing class. :-S If it's no better tomorrow I will have to make an appointment I think. :-S

Ann maybe all that work on FMP site has played your eyes up. I find mine get very sore if I do a lot of looking up.

It stayed nice and sunny here all afternoon so the rain must have past your ways.

You should'nt have bird feeders near your nest boxes. Ours are a long way from all my feeding stations. Don't forget a lot of birds are territorial so feeders near their nest is very off putting. Blue Tits usually time their babies for when the hawthorne comes out as they get little green catapillas on there just right for tiny beaks. It's not till they leave their nests that they start coming to the feeders with their fledglings to feed them.

We have had the Long Tailed Tits about again but not as many as there was last year.

We have just had Scotch Pancakes with clotted cream and seedless blackcurrant jam. Bit near to our weekly cheese and biscuits really but I just felt like making them. I also blew the egg I used as I want to make something on the egg shell and did'nt want to waste the egg. Next week I shall make one of those fratata (sp) things so I can get more blown eggs. If what I want to make turns out as it should I will let you see it. If not I won't :-| :-| :-|

Our last bird box rotted away ,this is a new one ,we have to be careful were we put it as the cats next door will get the babies ,so we put this one on the front of the shed ,the cats carn't get to it but it's so out in the open if you know what i mean ,i'd like to put it tucked away in the honey suckle but the cats would come along the wall and get to it .
Touch wood no more rats , i'll talk them up now :-0 hubby did say he would put some more bait down between the fences ,nothing can get to it only the rats .

Hope your eyes soon feel better Ann you don't want to miss your glass fusing class you've been looking forward to doing that .
I only said to hubby yesterday my right eye feels quite itchy ,he said perhaps i should start my hay fever tablets ,i don't think i've ever taken them this early in the year :-0

I never do a huge shop any more ,well only at christmas , i just go with my list and then again in the later in the week for the things i forgot !! ,hubby says Tes*o's is my second home !! :-D he tells son mums gone for her Te*co's fix !! :-D :-D :-D
