Ann ,have you been handling any plants that might cause your eyes to play up? try taking an antihistamine tonight if you have them.It sounds like it might be an allergic thing .I have had to take Zirtec for the last few days ...There is Spring in the air and pollen beginning..I have sneezed on and off all day :-S .Opticrom eye drops are quite good for irritated eyes.

The front of nest boxes should face north and not be put in the full sun otherwise the baby birds die from the heat.

Evening all, Or should I say GOODNIGHT JANE !!!
Nice restful day, reading and the T.V was on but not being watched. Ros has been busy making more blankets for the children's hospital. The sewing machine has been going FIFTY to the DOZEN. Where did that saying come from ??
I think I missed your posting about your box Jane. But as Mel said, turn it all off and give it a few minutes, and all should be O.K.
I have SIX bird nesting box's around the garden, on the shed, garage and fence. Two in the tree. and one on a tall pole. That's the one the blue tits have been showing interest in. The two on the arbour had wrens in last year. They have been cleaned out, so hope they show interest again this year. I also have Two large open front box's for blackbirds, thrushes or even an owl on the back of the garage wall. High up so no cats can get to them.
I think I must contact the knee surgeon, as my left knee in really plating me up. I keep putting it off but the day will soon come when I can't put it off any longer.!!!
MOT for the car at NOON tomorrow, then onto the hairdressers for an estimate !! It was way before Christmas when I last had it cut. My little Asian girl will think I have passed on :-D :-D :-D :-D
Glad you are sorted on the paint colour Jane, I think White is best on doorframes etc. Always looks nice and clean and easy to wipe down.
Mr S is almost over, so will say goodnight, and try to find SOMETHING I WANT TO WATCH.

Good Morning Mel, and all, evening Kim.
We will be off soon to get the MOT, then haircut. Might go for a bit of lunch somewhere for a change. See what Madam says.
Not a nice morning here, very windy and chill in the air. Looks like we might get rain.
I managed to see "REBUS" last night, but it was swearing all the time in that Glasgow accent. and on till 11.30 pm so I went off to bed about 11.00 with my radio.
Off now,

At last here I am .The Broadband has been off :-S I had mad idea this morning to cook something out of this new Cookery Book.it is a dish that Hannah did when we went to see her the other week. But I reek now of fried onions, and strong spices.I seem to have been doing it nearly all day and am now trying to get a sauce reduced and to thicken up.it's taking ages.I probably have the amounts wrong. There is a nice big Free Range Chicken cooking too at the moment .I hope this is going to worth it lol
I mentioned the sky catch up box not working. It isn't the main box,but the little free one that came through the post from Sky some months ago.Turning everything off doesn't make any difference :-S :-S.So we are stumped. Its a real pain as I miss so much.
How awful that that poor dog died after being poisoned at Crufts :-( :-(..Wh would do such a terrible thing. Hannah and the girls will be getting their 'Borrowed Doggies soon. They are called Sunny and Monday.Have a pic if anyone wants a look. They will have them for one night a week each month :-D
There has been a big Male Pheasant in the garden nearly all day.He has been very happy pottering around and sitting on top of some of the big pots lol At one point there was the Pheasant, the Moorhens, the Squirrel ,2 Wood Pidgeon,2 Magpies and some little Sparrows all pecking away at the seeds I had put out.
Glad you passed your MOT Frank.Tip Top now eh? :-D.....Its been a funny old day weather wise.Thick frost first thing (it looked like snow) but that disappeared very quickly. Then it went all cloudy with a fair old breeze. It is quite dark now.Lights on.
I better go and check this sauce and see if has thickened up. BBL

Jane. I think you can buy a lead that by-passes that little box. Next time I speak to Conrad I will ask him. He did mine when he was last home. I will get instructions where the lead goes. IT WON'T BE PAINFUL :-D :-D :-D
No Mel I didn't see it. Might watch it tomorrow on catch up while Ros is out with Carolyn.
It's certainly turned cold this afternoon. I put the bins out earlier and the wind almost cut me in half.
Football tonight. It's on BBC so might stay at home to watch it. Will see if Tony rings. !!

I am quietly sweating off dinner..Oh my goodness that sauce I made to go with dinner was way too spicy for me.Chris and James were fine.Maybe not even spicy enough for James.I used our home grown Chillies.Might be having a visit to the 'White friend' at some point as Chillies and me don't go together :-S...But other than that dinner was a huge success :-D :-D

Evening All,
When you say your box doesn't work Jane, do you mean it won't power up at all or do you mean it says it has no signal? I suppose you have already checked all the connections both ends. It might be best to ring the S*y helpdesk. We don't have one of those boxes yet so I don't know how they are set up etc. S*y is in OH's name so he gets all the correspondence from them. He mentioned getting a box a few months ago.....so I think he needs another reminder!! :-S Fancy you remembering OH's birthday being tomorrow the same as Hannah's. I have just written his cards while he is out at a meeting. We are going to The Windmill at Brascote for his birthday lunch tomorrow. We've been there on our birthdays the last couple of years.
My eyes were less swollen and not so itchy this morning so I didn't make an appointment. It wasn't like your eyes go with hay fever Jane. My eyes themselves looked the same as normal, just the wretched eyelids were itchy. This morning the lids had patchesof crusty tiny blisters that feel like fine sandpaper to the touch and are a bit discoloured. I had the same thing happen just before Christmas (not as bad but in just the same places, top lid on one eye, bottom lid on the other!!) That lasted a few days then gradually went. I'm beginning to think it was some face cream I got last year that protects against the sun. I know I used it one day last week and may have used it before Christmas as well. Well....... I just broke off to google and I think it WAS the cream as this is the same make, but this lady used their wrinkle cream!!!! :-0 I'm chucking it out tomorrow. :-S Have a good look at ingredients in creams ladies!!

Ann there seems no power going into the box now..It's DEAD :-S.No light no nothing :-S I remember your OH's Birthday as it is the same as Hannah :-D :-D
Makeup !!!.As you know I have this watery eye and Blepharitis .I decided to try Cliniqu* mascara just to see how things went.It seemed fine and I didn't have the awful irritation like with my normal stuff. So I have now bought Cliniqu* (think this is how to it is spelled) eyeshadow. That seems ok too.It is all not perfumed and anti allergenic .I have missed not being able to use eye makeup for a long time so I'm keeping fingers crossed that Cliniqu* will suit me now :-D..Need to glam up sometimes :-D :-D
I have just had a shower and rinsed my hair.I just can't stand smelling of cooking.(plus I changed the bed today) so I don't fancy the pillowcases smelling of fried onions ,Cumin etc.The only thing is I haven't dried my hair so will look like I have been dragged through a hedge backwards in the morning :-S.
Just seen it is face cream Ann (not makeup) that has caused your problem.(sorry) whittling on about makeup !!!....I use Oil of *lay and have used that for years with no troubles.
Rubbish TV again tonight :-S I have Border Control (New Zealand on)Desperate or what lol

It sounds like there is a loose connection somewhere Jane if the power's gone......it's not the fuse in the plug that's blown is it? Yes I have use O*ay for years too and have had no problems with it. It used to be Oil of U*ay didn't it. I only got this other sort as it had better sun protection! Apparently it's the chemical that prolongs it's shelf life that is causing the problem and it's in some other make up and in household things too. I haven't tried Cliniqu* makeup and usually use Maybel*ine mascara, but had left that off too the last few days, in case it was that.
Oh Mel, what an ordeal with your teeth, but thank goodness they are nearly sorted now. Hopefully then they will give no trouble for a long time.
That was awful that lovely dog being poisoned. I hope they find out who did it. We saw that lovely puppy outside the Co*p again today, still full of beans and making friends with everyone, OH included!
I hope to finish a bracelet tomorrow from a pattern the lady gave me when I went to the house bead sale. I'm doing it all silver and it looks like one of those flexible metal straps for a watch. :-)

Morning all
Weather here is sunny but still quite cold.
Happy birthday to Hannah and Ann's OH <3 Hope you enjoy your lunch today Ann. Is Hannah doing anything nice for her birthday today Jane. Hope you enjoy your meal together at the weekend
Glad to hear your car passed it's MOT Frank, ours failed, something to do with the emissions. OH is going to take it for a good run tomorrow then take it back to the garage to see if it worked if it did then we can get the other two things fixed and hopefully have an MOT again.
All this talk of bird boxes, OH and I treated each other to a bird box with a camera inside for our Anniversary in January, so we are now trying to work out where to put it to keep it away from the neighbours cats. We have a very long garden but the lead for the camera is only 10 metres long. By the time you bring it indoors to attach to the TV it doesn't leave that much for outside and I don't want it to close to the bungalow incase it puts the birds off using it.
Does anyone know how far away it needs to go. I might have to get an extension for the lead.
I've been very busy on FMP all over the weekend. Thanks Mel for letting us know about the free weekend. I managed to find some relatives in Canada and some in Ireland, plus a 2nd wife I knew nothing about for another relative. The only problem was, the time ran out before I had a chance to check out the last two census returns for a couple who had 6 children. I managed to find 4 of them but when I tried to find the other 2 it had gone past the free time by 2 minutes. I was so gutted. Never mind I will just have to remember to find them next time the census's are open again. I only needed to check 1 or 2 more census's.
I saw on the news last night that one of the dogs at Cruffs had been poisoned and had died. The owners don't think it was any of the other dog owners, although I'm not so sure. Apparently there were 6 cases of dogs being poisoned. How could anyone be so cruel. I must admit I'm not a dog lover after being bitten by one when I was three, but I'd never harm a dog and once I get to know someone's dog and know it's not going to bite, then I'm ok. I just get a bit nervous around dogs and I think they sense it.
I've just noticed I've got some messages on Genes so I'd better go and read them.
I've been in contact with a few people over the weekend which is how I've managed to find the Irish family. One member gave me access to her tree but only had names and places with no dates so it took me a while to find them all. She is made up as she has access to my tree and can now fill in all the information I found.
I hope FMP was helpful to anyone else on here who used it. BBL
